TWRP Button combination to boot recovery? - Sprint LG Optimus G

I cannot find where the button combination is to reboot the phone into recovery for TWRP. I have looked on the site and through several posts on the thread on the forum, and cannot find the button combination. Help would be appreciated to get through this very irritating problem (Im in a boot loop atm)

So it's not only a device-based riddle, but a qte one as well lol

When phone is completely turned off. Press and hold Vol Up + Power, this will get you into fastboot. Once here, press down twice, then press power.
You will now be in TWRP

I tried that for about 15 mins, and it didn't work. I then tried pressing down 3X instead of 2, and that got me into TWRP recovery. Just to make sure, I got out of recovery and rebooted. Once it started bootlooping again, I tried 2X, didn't work. Went through the procedure but down 3X again, all is well. Using version 2.5.0.0.

It should be 2x, only thing I can think of is if you are pressing the dwn button fast and it's not registering one of them. I know I have done that in the past.
GL!

You have to hold both volume up and down while powering up
Then when you get to fastboot press volume down twice and power

Holding both volumes in is for getting you into download mode, if you are looking to get into recovery from power off it's Vol Up + Power > Vol
Down 2x > Power.

I am currently looping at the LG loading screen. When I hold down up + power it doesn't put me into recovery mode. After a few moments it just turns the phone off. Anyone have any idea of what I can do now??

Volume up and power to fastboot screen, then volume down twice then power

If you're not unlocked then it won't let you load the fastboot screen, I believe

Try holding volume down and power. If it takes you to stock (aosp style) recovery then you need to unlock with freegee

AFschizoid I can't thank you enough for all the help you have been. I think I really did it this time though. Neither up or down brings me anywhere. The phone turns on, shows the LG logo and then after a bit the screen goes off. This happens if I do up, down, or both.

Hold the power button for LITERALLY like 2 minutes straight to let any residual power drain out after turning off. Then go ahead and hold vol down first and then press and hold power at the same time. If that doesn't bring you to stock recovery, repeat the power off then try with vol up. If that doesn't work, again, turn off and hold power button for a couple minutes to discharge then hold both volume buttons and plug in to your computer to see if download mode comes up

Thank you AFschizoid, trying it now. Will post results when im done.

Let me know

Yup.....I really F-ed up this time. Tried it all three ways and no change... The odd thing is that I have had my ROM for two days and have been able to get into recovery before. I haven't made any changes. Lost signal earlier today and rebooted my phone to see if it would fix it, now it wont even start.
[EDIT] I think I know what did it. I tried to recover using FreeGee earlier when we were discussing the EFS. It failed but it probably messed up my unlock

So you can't even get download mode? Jeez. I don't know then lol

Think Sprint would fall for the new ZVC update bricked my phone?

Yeah if there was a bad flash of the SBL stack then you're sol. Download mode is in the SBL stack so if that didn't flash right then it's probably hard bricked

Thank you very much AFschizoid you have been a godsend!

Well... i found this in the teenybins thread... try it
For most soft bricks you will see a LG or Google logo and then a black screen. You can also still get into download mode. If you think download mode may not even work, connect phone to a Windows computer and check device manager... if the phone is detected in a "QHSUSB-DLOAD" then there's a good chance you're perm bricked. Otherwise.. you may just be a n00b and aren't doing download mode correctly.

Well the phone is detected but it just shows as a USB Composite Device. So if it is not hard bricked then maybe it just wont actually shut off. Maybe the screen is just blacking out and when I try the power button again it wakes it up. I can't imagine that I am holding the vol down and power button incorrectly. Only so many ways to do it Thank you for the find!

Are you leaving it plugged in when trying to turn it off? Because that won't work, it will keep booting into 'charge mode' so Unplug it, and retry everything

Stuck a Nexus Boot Logo, No Recovery, wtf.

So here's my issue:
A few hours ago I decided that I wouldn't exchange my just traded Gnex at Sprint, and decided it was already time to unlock bl, root, and all that good stuff. So once I got around to that, as soon as I finished rooting, CWM gave me an option right before rebooting to remain persistent, or something like that, but knowing that I would install TWRP in a few minutes, I pressed no.
So I went on, installed TWRP through the goo.im app, waited about an hour doing junk on my phone, rebooted it for whatever reason, and went back to the goo.im app and pressed to reboot into recovery. When it did, I got the android with an exposed chest and a red triangle on it, which I assumed was TWRP not installing correctly. So I rebooted back into android, reinstalled TWRP, and this time went straight into recovery, and it worked. From here on in, I had already downloaded AOKP MR1-B6, and corresponding gapps, so went ahead and flashed that after wiping and all the normal stuff.
Now I'm here, I've been stuck at the Nexus "X" logo for a few minutes, did a battery pull, still nothing, and tried to go into recovery, and the phone will not go into recovery. Assuming I'm doing it correctly, I push the on button and vol up at the same time, and release power when the Google logo appears, and should release the vol up when recovery pops up, except I get the Nexus "X" instead.
This is a toroplus btw. Any help would be great lol.

Device not booting - shows 'recovery booting' for split second

Successfully rooted using Odin, installed ROM Manager and TWRP2 and tried making a ROM backup through ROM Manager before I made any substantial changes to the device. It almost immediately rebooted and didn't seem to do anything. Went back into ROM Manager and changed the recovery to CWM latest, and tried the backup again. It almost immediately shutdown and didn't come back up.
Anything I do to power it on fails (just holding power, or power + Vol Down + home, or power + Vol Up + home). All three methods, I get a very brief screen with the Samsung logo and in the top left corner 'Recovery booting' in blue. It's only there for a split second and it turns back off
It will not boot normally, to recovery, or to download mode... Did I hose it by replacing TWRP2 with CWM somehow?
Any ideas on how to at least get it to boot again to any state?
[Edit: plugging it in to my computer leads to it vibrating briefly every 3 seconds
Thanks,
PK
Interestingly... With it plugged in to my laptop (buzzing every 3 seconds), just holding Vol Down + Home got it to boot to download mode (without touching the power button). Was able to the download the stock ROM and root again through Odin. Still just have to hold Vol Down and Home to get to download mode (using the power button in the combination kills it... :/ )
It's possible you're experiencing a variation of the sudden death syndrome, which is a physical issue with the power button. You can search Google or XDA for it, but if it is the power button failing, you can return it to Sprint for free.

Accidentally deleted OS

As the title says, I accidentally deleted my OS, and I can't access Recovery or Download mode. Any help?
So when you turn on the phone you just get a blank screen? When you hook it up to the computer with a USB cable what does it do? You might want to do some reading in my L900 unbrick thread (that no one has tested yet...grrr). You'll also need a Linux Live CD if you don't have a Linux machine. I've been waiting to test this out on an official L900 hard brick.

When I turn it on, it gets stuck at the Samsung screen.
You should still be able to access recovery by power off the device. Hold home button, volume down and power until it goes into recovery.

Let me know if you got your phone up and running, I don't think it is bricked. Could possibly help using Odin 3.07 with a .tar file of current ROM...4.1.2 or earlier.
Sorry just re read your post. So you ARE NOT able to get into stock/custom recovery by pressing (and holding) volume UP first, then Home button then Power? Or download mode by pressing (and holding) volume DOWN, then Home and Power? These have to be pressed and held in that order.

Errr, phone won't turn on?

It all started last night. So I tried to flash the vanir 4.4.2 ROM and the Carbon rom, but none of them worked. I had CWM recovery and it kept giving me a status 7 error. I was soft bricked, so I wasn't really scared. (Yes i used the correct rom, d2spr). I then used Odin and flashed the twrp custom recovery. Still, failed ROM. I then proceeded to just unroot the whole phone, so I went to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
put it on my 32GB sdcard and plugged it in my 16GB s3. I downloaded the new 16GB with md4 count reset yada yada yada. So it flashed smoothly, and it said succesful. But before it rebooted, twrp asked to flash supersu. I said no and it just turned off. It didn't turn back on. Took out the batter, charged it, did everything. It isn't turning on. Any ideas? I flashed ALL correct ROMs yet this happens.

Yea, I think I know what happened. I, idiotically, flashed 4.3 update. So that unroot .zip file just hardbricked my phone. Am waiting for a 4.3 debrick image. But thanks for trying to help anyway.

Okay this may seem redundant but plug your phone into your wall charger and in 4 hours minimum grab your phone and hold the power button for 30 seconds and then unplug your phone.
-Now hold volume down and home button, while holding them plug your phone in and keep holding them until the screen pops up. You should have life again.

Wait so this is the sequence?
-Plug phone into wall charger for 4 hours
-Hold power button for 30 seconds while phone is still plugged
-Let go of power button and unplug phone
-Hold volume down and home button and plug phone in (do I also hold power button too?)
-keep holding until (download mode?) pops up.
Sorry if I'm being detailed, but I need exact instructions so I know I didn't mess up.

Is my M8 bricked?

Ok folks, normally I figure these things out but this one has me a bit concerned.
I was in ViperROM HUB and installed a font package, it needed to restart in recovery to install, so I allowed it. I turned to my computer and when I next looked at my phone the screen is off and refuses to come on. When depress the power button I get a vibration feedback but the screen won't come on. I tried VOL DOWN and POWER but nothing is happening. Im gonna let the battery run dead and see if that will resolve it.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before?

Hey!
I dont think its bricked.
Ghost helped me out with my problem, see below solution.
Try holding POWER + VOLUME UP for 20 seconds and it should restart.
However my case was different I was stuck in HTC logo screen and no way to restart.
On the M8 it is Power and Vol Up to perform a "battery pull".

never seem to hear a 'ding' or any other sound but no matter how I time it - power/vol up then power/vol down still results in htc splash then just black. Phone was quite warm (not quite hot) when I went to bed last night and this morning battery was at "0". When I first plugged it in and pushed the power button it alternated from the battery charging display to the TWRP locked screen but I couldn't seem to get it to stay on the TWRP screen no matter what I did. Now that I've used power/vol up I don't seem to get the battery or TWRP. just black or when trying power/vol up I get the splash. Power/vol down gives nothing - just black
EDIT: Just tried - let battery go dead. Plug in to computer hold power/vol down. Screen goes from battery icon to blank and back to battery icon.
EDIT: Pulled and reformatted sd card in Evo 4g LTE. Retried fastboot command still just shows "waiting for device". Even tried adb reboot bootloader and reply "device not found"
Could I use adb to reflash ruu? If so would the command be adb flash (filename)
Was beginning to lose hope of ever fixing this but a HUGE shout out to Simer03 who provided the critical piece of information - namely - add a ROM zip to your sd card. Hope nobody else ever has this problem but just in case
Post #4 here
Nothing is going to work unless you can either enter the boot loader or boot into the os.
You should still be able to access hboot unless that is corrupt. At the very least you need to hear the ding on your pc so you know the pc has recognized your device is connected.
Try again with vol up and power, hold until it reboots you should then hear that ding. If not check you have the necessary usb drivers installed on your pc or try a different usb cable.
