Fix for WI-FI issue - HTC One X

After 2 months of searching , and testing different wi-fi attempts to fix it , i finally found it(for me at least) !
This is for the problem ( Sense roms mostly) when WI-FI is connected , but after 1-2 mins, the internet stops working, althought WI-FI is connected .
Yesterday i updated my router's firmware , and it works ! tested 2 hours my HOX , wi-fi doesn't drop anymore !
So , the problem is an issue between HTC wi-fi driver, and some routers . If you can't afford a new router, then try updating it's firmware .
It worked for me!
Hoped i helped !

Sounds good, but you cant upgrade firmware on all WiFi routers right?

Thanks, I am not happy that its not only me who is facing this issue. I am happy that you have found out a way to fix this issue, but the problem is we can't upgrade each and every WiFi router that we access.
So, it will be better, if there is a solution on the phone's side itself. Like updating the HTC driver itself. Please let me know if there is any other way out.
Thanks

It's a problem that a lot of HOX devices are having... and yes, we can't upgrade every router we acces , but at least for home use , it's an improvement .
The final fix can only come from HTC , by changing something in the driver itself...
And i am really happy it isn't a hardware issue :x ..
Cheers!

[Q] Wifi issue with an repeater

Hello XDA Team and Member,
first I want to thank for the great Forum here and the Members and Developers too.
I have an issue with mit OneX. When I have a connection with my wifi-repeater mit OneX show me potential Wifi-signal 100% but there is no Internet. The Websites or Apps like Facebook do'snt loading. Connection lost is the message of my OneX. Every other Cellphone, Notebook, PC or IPad is working fine with this repeater (Telekom W100).
My OneX working fine when I go one step to the right and the Wifi-signal comes from my router. Don't know why, but with my Desire, my Sensation and my Wildfire S is no problem like that.
Doesnt find anything in XDA-search or google except a threat at german Telekom-forum... doesnt helped yet. Sorry, my english is horrible.
Please help me
Thank you...
Welcome to forum!
This issue can be tricky to solve. It would seem that One X is confused by repeater and thinks it is router.
You could try to manually assign IP adress from within One X, see if that helps?
Settings > Wifi > longpress on network name -> Modify -> scroll down to Advanced Options -> IP (change from DHCP to static).
Then set gateway and dns to what your main router ip. Good luck
HAWKINS, roxcyc
Thanks for your answer.
Try to change to static but nothing happens. Same problem. This repeater is configurate with wps. The strange thing is that there is no changes of IP or anything when the OneX is change the Wifi conection to the repeater but the sides stops to load and don't loading anytime I connected to the repeater. Try to change from wpa to wep and give a shout about the result...
Hi,
There is another thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26915135
With similar symptoms to the issue you are having. I'm having the same. WEP might help but easy to crack from a security point of view. I have the same issue but only with my WiFi AP at home. In other areas it works fine so I have not been able to find what is causing this. You can try and disable the N radio in your repeater and see if that works too as a poster said in another thread...for me this has not worked but worth a try.

Hi,
try to set off the N mode in my router a week a go. Doesn't help. WEP doesn't work either. Don't have a glue why only my oneX have this prob and all other devices working :-( Try some things more and post the result when it's solved.
Edit: Get a 2nd HOX in a few days... Try that if the isseu is standard with all HOX or only with my. Had try to chance the Radio/ Baseband. Set a fix IP. Nothing helped.
....
Got a new HOX and try to connect with wifi over the repeater... nothing changed, same prob like with the other HOX and two different HOX's from friends of mine. HTC sayed: "All HOX's are busted and have to sent to repair! LOLLLLLL What the fu** ! Been with a HTC since round about 10 years and now I think about a draft.
So problem still NOT fixed!
solved?

Hi, after 4 or 5 months after I post this problem I had been tired to search for a fix and I got a HTC ONE.
So I don't know what it was with the oneX... the one was working fine with the repeater and the one m8 do also!

HOX Crashing Wifi network

Hi Guys, im experiencing some annoying problem .
When i connect my phone to our Wireless network i got like 10 sec Internet access then it crashes the whole network. (I receive signal but cant connect to internet) . Then i have to restart my Router and disconnect my phone in order to get my Internet back.
Im using Static IPs but the Gateway and DNS are the same (idk if thats ok but works perfectly on my PC)
This problem appeared after the Jelly Bean update, before that ,it worked perfectly.
I would be very happy if somebody knows why is that happening.

In settings then WiFi and then use the menu button there are some settings for WiFi there must be something with frequency and then set from automatic to 2,4ghz ...this would fix it ....

I'm having a similar issue with my BT Home Hub 3 but mine will kick everyone off the wireless then add them back on straight away when i try to run anything on my HOX. (my Mrs's ipad, my laptops etc.)
I've tried router reset and changing channels on the router but nothing works.
Only happened after JB update.
Ive had this since I got the hox. Its actually got a bit better since the last update but still kills everything now and then

Yes set your router to G mode only will do the trick. Its a step down from B or N but seems the only solution. Its a HTC issue not JB because friends of mine who have other manufactures(Samsung) phones with JB have no issues on my network when my router is set to GB and N.

LU6200 Bad WIFI connections

hello everybody , i bought 2 second hand lu6200 phones here in vietnam but their wifi signal handling is awful , i can connect to wifi networks with an old phone and the
lu6200 just doesn't pick up the network, i installed an app to measure the db's and in the lu6200 it gets always at least more 6 to 10 db's ,
first i thought that it was something wrong with the hardware but i switched phones in the store and have the same problem .-( ,
now i just don't know what to do , it's weird that a phone like this one has such a bad wifi .... , i have tested a lot of roms also and
wifi always hard to connect with weak signals.... anyone knows something about this?????
thanks.

I don't think that this phone has bad wifi strength as I have always the same signal strength as that on my friends' Note 1 and BB Z10 or other devices.

thank you for your input , well i find it weird that it's so hard for me to get a connection , i woudn't expect it from a device such as this... ,
i went to the store and they exchanged it to another one and the wifi still not working properly, but still they are second hand phones .... , maybe this one has some hardware problem too , it picks up wifi only after it stays some time in the same location .... , i got it for 100 dollars so it's not a big loss ,
maybe i will open it and try to check the wifi antenna or something .

If its picking up signal late, then its due to to long wifi scan interval. Just go to settings>network>wifi and refresh from there whenever you want to connect.

yes , i tried that , i installed some apk that would scan it faster and makes a graph of the router signal but always the same result , if i don't move too much and wait for a while it will connect but the signal is going up and down and it disconnects , and connect a few moments later ,
while my other phone stays around 80 something db's , this one shows 90 something that is on the limit for the connection

htc m9 wifi problem

hello , i have problem with my new htc m9 it cant connect to wifi networks ???
wifi turned on but cant see or connect to any network
my android os 5.0.2
please help
Have you tried a Factory Reset?
Same Problem
Exactly the same problem I think the problem from sim.. Slide out and do restore factory settings... Wifi will appear relates and you can contact. But if you put sim you cant contact and dont see the network.we need update from htc because this problem in some contry
I from syria ????
I'm not having the exact same problem but I am having a problem with WiFi
Yesterday I received my wife's M9 upgrade and started setting it up. I noticed it was going REALLY slow downloading over Wi-Fi, so I activated the SIM and it dropped off the home network. It immediately picked up pace and apps began making download progress. I have more than a dozen other devices working without issue on my home network. When I reconnected it and attempted to reach any website, it just stalls.
Tonight I'll try pulling the SIM out and / or Factory Reset to see if I can get it working.
same problem
i have the same problem what should we do?
I returned my device and got another new one. Immediately out of the box it seemed to be working better but developed similar issues. I disabled a setting named minimize battery use on Wi-Fi and that seems to have improved it, but it still seems to have issue with my 5mhz 802.11AC router.
I think we can live with it the way it is, until they push a fix. Hopefully a fix anyway.

Seems to be an issue with N only 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band networks. I set my 2.4Ghz to auto (g/n) and removed the 5Ghz SSID from the list of known networks and it's working great. YMMV

I have this problem too with Iran simcard irancell and rightel
please if some one have solution share with us

DNS issue?
My problem is similar to what Jason V described. My phone connects to my home WiFi okay, but the internet connection alternates between working very slowly, or not at all. Strangely, removing the SIM card from the phone fixes the WiFi connection, but as soon as I reintroduce the SIM card, the WiFi issues return.
I'm going to attempt changing the DNS server to see if that helps at all. If it does I'll let you know.

problem completly solved with new update (1.32.401.17) from dear htc
Still...
Mine version is 1.32.841.15 but the problem is still there... I can't use Wi-Fi....
I could before but now after a few updates I can't... ( Just to be sure that we have same problem, I can turn Wi-Fi on but it doesn't show any networks.)
Solved
Simply update to latest build which as by now is : 1.32.501.17 and fortunately solve 2 M9 devices wifi for me.
you can find these Ota updates in here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/ota-1-32-401-15-firmware-noredtext-t3072571
,
I had this problem as well. I end up changing my channel to 11_and it helped, but when I changed it to 6,I went from 17mb to 32mb.

I've got the same problem, we have 2 M9s and both of them cannot find any wireless networks

should we wait for hTC or what else can we do that won't require root ?

I was chatting to HTC for about one hour! But our biggest problem was that they don't know there is such a problem! They thought it's a problem just for me.
I informed them about it (at least, informed the chat person!) so I think we can expect an update from HTC in few weeks...
And that's weird that we can use Wi-Fi Hotspot but not connecting even finding networks!
I think the best is to wait a little...
But I'm still really confused that how did some other people updated their phone to 1.32.501.17 not 1.32.841.15 ?!

sm-p600 wifi problem

Hello everyone i'm new here, some time ago i have updated my tablet's android version from 4.3 to 4.4.2 through ota update, after about one month later my tablet started having a weird wifi problem (i don't know if it is related to ota update or not) my tablet shows good wifi signal but it wont connect (it connects only when it is near router's antenna though and this is really weird) and no it is not a router problem because it is the same problem everywhere, i tried EVERYTHING to fix this problem (wifi fixer apps, factory reset, reinstalled android firmware with samsung kies, rooted my tablet and even installed a custom rom) but none of these methods didn't solve the problem.
Does anyone knows how to fix this problem? did i miss something??? could it be a bad kernel? or maybe a bad configuration that should be changed manually, or is it just a hardware problem?
Did you try with stock Lollipop firmware?
