I'm on a nightly CM9 (705 if you're on cyanogen's site) and it's running pretty good except sometimes the messaging app crashes, and the keyboard too. and other times (not recently, but like, in build 704) I couldn't hear or speak into phone calls..
so is this all I have until it's stable CM9 or are there other options?
I hate TouchWiz by the way, so I kinda don't want a TW rom..
Have you tried aokp?

does EVERYTHING work? I mean like simple stuff like video playback and phone doesn't go out randomly etc.. the previous builds of AOKP had that problem that's why I'm asking
A LOT has been fixed this past weekend. Random reboots, lock screen freezes, and others I'm forgetting. I think there is an issue playing videos that are recorded on the Rom. Using a 3rd party player for work around. I'm not real sure on the specifics though. I don't think you'll find a 100% perfect "vanilla" Rom quite yet.

thanks then.. I'll probably stay with CM9 Nightly
Give AOKP a try, the most recent build is basically flawless. Build 40 from 0705.
Everything works and works well, no FC, no freezing, no random reboots, you can charge while the phone is off now. Some people had issues with viewing video clips recorded from older ROM's when using the gallery app (happened to me but not others). Downloaded MX Player and it's way better than the gallery app anyway and plays all my vids instantly.
It's fast, clean, smooth, highly customizable and good on battery as well. It will be my DD until the next build is released or until Milestone 6. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
I'm on cm9 702 and everything works except video playback from the Gallery, lock screen freezes, and the low resolution display when recording video.

Cm9 and Aokp both have like a pile of apps that fc and won't work for me.. Like a few banking apps, scottrade amongst a few others. I dunno if its the ROM or the apps but that's a big no for me, which sucks because I love Cm9 type Roms ever since the mt3g

Yeah I guess you could say FC. Mine like randomly take me home but if I like, bring up the task manager it's still there unmoved except Facebook. Which I really don't mind considering its a nightly.
Its stable enough, idk try updating to 706, I do every day and it always gets better I think CM9/CM10 is our only hope for a stock ICS/JB interface. Most likely.
Hi,
is it necessary to do a full wipe before upgrading to the latest sandvold even if i have a previous release?
in the aroma installer which a2sd/tweaks do you choose for better perfomances?
Thanks
Since there is no answer, I tried this myself.
Had 0.15.0.1 installed and working well, and did an install of 0.16.1 over the top.
All seems to be working, getting a couple freezes (not enough to worry about though), which I didn't have on 0.15.1, but it could just be bugs, or could be I'm doing something I wasn't on the previous version.
Using it for daily, pretty happy at the moment.
And I left the top a2sd selected, not sure if it would like me changing it after I already had apps moved with the one script.
Thank you for the answer

Just as an FYI, I went back to 15.0.1 yesterday, I was getting some weird stuff happening, a fair few crashes, and some weird screen flickering. Might stick at 15.0.1 for awhile, see how it goes.
I'd avoid 0.16.1 for now. Stick to 0.15 as it seems to be more stable.
I was using 0.16.1 really buggy I also came from 0.15.1 I'm now
Using nikez 1.0.1b2 it is a much more stable from than both of them. I have also installed Google now thanks mikey6 works perfectly

This is my First post at Galaxy Gio Forums.
Xperiance.Cyanogen Team is happy to announce that we are considering to take Gio under our Support and Release some Awesome and Speed Freak Rom's for it...!!!

Hello and welcome to Gio forums I was looking at some of your work , it seems that you guys are good developers / themers. I would like to help you as much as i can , if i can , however i must warn you , i am an average user with average knowledge of Android at this point , still pretty new and trying to learn as much as i can. Cheers

The flashing process worked flawlessly.
Boot Anim is working , but no sound , i don`t know if it`s supposed to have sound but it doesn`t.
In the initial configuration after flashing , i cannot pick apps for tiles but if i cancel that and try to put them manually it works.
Gallery - gallery is fast , maybe because of quickpic , the pictures made with the camera appear rotated 90 degrees to the right, the camcorder is working.
Torch - not working of course because no flash ) but still .. it gives FC with the process net.cactii.flash2. And also , the bulb on the screen does light on , fc`s , but still the process remains in the statusbar with no posibility to close it.
Clock - everything is working , night dimming , picture gallery , music and alarm.
Swipe to remove is working.
Music - ok
Videos - are ok and smooth with the default player , however it doesn`t find movies that are not in /dcim folder , also MX Player is not working for some reason.
When long pressing something in filemanager it takes a pretty long time for the options to appear , maybe 3 seconds.
Lock screen - ok , not working after flashing but it worked after reboot
Network is good here , calls and messaging are working perfectly ongoing and incoming
Wifi - working
Data - cannot test, i have no data plan
Bluetooth - i tested only with one guy , the devices paired but i couldn`t transfer something , maybe because his battery was almost dead so i`m not sure about this.
GPS - i used GPS toolbox and left it to lock a position for about 10 minutes , it didn`t lock. Although in Google Maps it is working but maybe because of wifi , not sure. I can`t test with anything else as i don`t have any navigation software because i don`t use.
Deep Sleep - working
Also , int2ext4+ script is working perfectly , i have a 1 gb sd-ext partition on a 8 gb class 10 sd card.
Sorry I didn't reply soon but GPS works after I edited gps.conf works nicely in sygic GPS navigation I didn't use any 3g data plan
Bluetooth well.... It worked flawlessly!
Network is working great!
Still have to test some things when I get time
I didn't get lock screen problem(did a full wipe)

Some bugs I have found while deep testing the ROM:
1.After capturing video or picture. While previewing the image or video its rotated.(screenshot included)
2.Torch.apk FC's because of LED not available in gio camera(I think u could use Tiny Led+Flashlight from play store
3.Setup wizard doesnt show up in first boot. Only the launcher settings come

I was hunting around for a camera that would work, when i found an app called camera ics +
No greenscreen to report anywhere, no blurriness, it just, works!
Could be useful for devs too? We could finally have a perfect cyanogenmod rom!

Heres the google play link mate, just come across one problem, iff you try and delete pictures and video through the app it force closes, but its not exactly a massive problem

Other than the green screen and no auto/manual focus during video, I don't find anything wrong with the stock CM 10/10.1 camera. There's no blurriness if the lighting is bright or flash is used.

I just found it quite slow, and maybe the blurriness was just cos of the lack of auto focus Didnt realise that, but yea i wasnt that keen on it.

I'm getting best results with snap camera on codefire x after a lot of experementing. Camera ICS+ hasn't seen much development lately like camera jb+.
But to be honest, imho there is no better camera like any sense stock before latest officially suppported by htc, especially panorama mode.

I've reverted back to AOSPX after playing around with the Jellybean Roms, so its not an issue anymore I forgot how good it is! Flawless!

SNAP CAMERA Awesome, thank you man :laugh:
I flashed jb the first few hours it got leaked. It came with a pit file that supposedly repartitions the ram. The leaked version had a lot of problems of it's own and also had problems with lags and freezes, I thought that will go away when I flash the official firmware but I was wrong.
I experience lags in all games and apps. In subway surfers, the run can start smoothly but as I progress, it starts lagging and even freezing. Youtube is the same thing, I will be watching a video and all the controls would become unresponsive and the video to lag badly until it exits the app or the phone reboots itself. I also get small audio and video freezes in mx video player.
I think this has to do with that repartitioning. I want to know if there is a way to revert to stock gingerbread ram partitioning and flashing jb again.
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda app-developers app
I have to mention, it makes no difference if I clear the ram or not befor entering an app.

Flash CM10 (dh.harald) or CM10.1 (SlimBean), will be smooth and ask in Q&A thread.
dh.harald cm10 a little smoother and try MG2 stock
Yup should try mg2...its probably the smoothest firmware and works well with Other Roms I also used the app called lagfix seems to work fine no lag at all for me.

Yep....ya u can go back to gingerbread ram..search Up how to downgrade from from jb to Gb. You should find a website with the link to GB firmware with pit
:/ can't post link..hope this helps XD

I found it, and i downgraded to gb. I don'think i'm going back though, gb is 10 times more stable.
Thanks for the help.

try CM...
Lol since newest build of cm10 with omx i have the same sometimes i have freezes in videos but not in games only in videos so i think it's maybe an omx problem?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
For me, gb is like a fresh breath of air after months of jb frustration. I really don't think a custom rom can fix all the problems that official jb has. Games run perfectly now, no more caller id lag, nicer keyboard, no freezes and so on. I value reliability more than looks and that's what gb has to offer. If anyone fins himself in the same situation as me, i really recommend him rolling back to gb and feel the differennce!
//Also, i appreciate the extra battery life.
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda app-developers app
Try, and you will see, CM is free of that bugs from official JB and is more smooth thqn GB but it have own some bugs.
Camera not working, gps not working or sound bugs, no thanks.
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda app-developers app
In Slim Bean camera is working, sound is ok.
So i reflashed now cm10 wiped only cache and no freezes anymore maybe you should wait for next version of Cm 10 and flash it then because it is an amazing rom gps bug ? Have no gps bug if you're talking about cm10
