I'm on a nightly CM9 (705 if you're on cyanogen's site) and it's running pretty good except sometimes the messaging app crashes, and the keyboard too. and other times (not recently, but like, in build 704) I couldn't hear or speak into phone calls..
so is this all I have until it's stable CM9 or are there other options?
I hate TouchWiz by the way, so I kinda don't want a TW rom..
Have you tried aokp?

does EVERYTHING work? I mean like simple stuff like video playback and phone doesn't go out randomly etc.. the previous builds of AOKP had that problem that's why I'm asking
A LOT has been fixed this past weekend. Random reboots, lock screen freezes, and others I'm forgetting. I think there is an issue playing videos that are recorded on the Rom. Using a 3rd party player for work around. I'm not real sure on the specifics though. I don't think you'll find a 100% perfect "vanilla" Rom quite yet.

thanks then.. I'll probably stay with CM9 Nightly
Give AOKP a try, the most recent build is basically flawless. Build 40 from 0705.
Everything works and works well, no FC, no freezing, no random reboots, you can charge while the phone is off now. Some people had issues with viewing video clips recorded from older ROM's when using the gallery app (happened to me but not others). Downloaded MX Player and it's way better than the gallery app anyway and plays all my vids instantly.
It's fast, clean, smooth, highly customizable and good on battery as well. It will be my DD until the next build is released or until Milestone 6. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
I'm on cm9 702 and everything works except video playback from the Gallery, lock screen freezes, and the low resolution display when recording video.

Cm9 and Aokp both have like a pile of apps that fc and won't work for me.. Like a few banking apps, scottrade amongst a few others. I dunno if its the ROM or the apps but that's a big no for me, which sucks because I love Cm9 type Roms ever since the mt3g

Yeah I guess you could say FC. Mine like randomly take me home but if I like, bring up the task manager it's still there unmoved except Facebook. Which I really don't mind considering its a nightly.
Its stable enough, idk try updating to 706, I do every day and it always gets better I think CM9/CM10 is our only hope for a stock ICS/JB interface. Most likely.

I have been experiencing this weird problem with the Stock andriod browser ever since I flashed my first ROM. Every 4th or 5th time I open the browser, scrolling is extremely laggy. Laggy to the point of not being able to use. Once I close the web browser and open it back up, the problem is fixed, smooth scrolling once again. This repeats itself throughout the day at random.
I have tried multiple kernels and multiple ROMS all delivering the same problem. I dont know if this is a flaw in the actual browser itself or not, but it really sucks because I love the stock andriod browser.
Any ideas on what would be causing this?
ive noticed this too with the stock browser and i think its just something in the app itself i switched to dolphin browser mini and dont have that lag at all

You need the smooth scrolling mod that comes with the samurai kernel its just framework.jar but usually specific to TW and AOSP ROMS.

hmmm im not entirely sure what could be causing that unless there is something running in the background that is slowing your phone down...are you experiencing lag while scrolling thru anything else like apps or the market?

If i decided to switch to cm9, is it considered an "everday use" ROM yet... or still plenty of bugs to be worked out? Im not picky about the small things, as long as my web browser and apps work! with good scrolling LOL, I cant stand laggy scrolling! it makes my phone feel cheap.
its kind of a toss up yes there are still quite a few bugs to work out but it is stable enough to use as a daily there are just some minor things that dont work...for me its fun to tinker with and learn but i need something more stable and reliable at the moment so im still using CM7 as my daily

Possibly the same Problem?
:cyclops: Hello,
I think I may have the same problem, and was curious if the kernal mentioned fixed it for your issue?
My Issue...
After an extended amount of time using the browser, pages will start to "skip" or "lag" when scrolling. For example, I will place my finger on the screen to scroll a google results page, and without removing my finger I will scroll up or down (doesn't matter which), and during the scrolling I will notice the screen lag. Lag, as in the screen appears to freeze briefly, and then pick up where my finger is, giving the appearance of "lag", "skipping", or "jumping".
I think the important key here is that my finger is not removed from the screen. The problem does not occur when I flick the screen to scroll.
Noticing that the problem happened after an extended amount of time I tested clearing the cache, and force closing the browser. And that does indeed fix the problem, at-least for the time being until it begins to do it again.
Thanks for any help you guys can give, or directions you can lead me in to fix this problem.

I dont think so currently. Youre going to have to go without sepia on your pics for a while. Its hard to be artsy on android.
Instagram is a app issue with "all" ICS ROMs. It hit and miss as very very few have said it worked for them but majority it does not work.
The app is fully working for me using NexusMod ICS Zero. I admit it wasn't working and was freezing trying to use the filters. But once I did the Fix Permissions Workaround for ICS it is fully working now. It does lag a little on some of the filters but it no longer freezes up the phone or reboots the phone.

Crap...I just updated to the latest Instagram and now mine are pitch black now...lol.
I'm on Racings UCLD Skyrocket ICS, and Instagram actually TECHNICALLY does work now, but it's far from perfect. I've only had one FC though so that's good.
In general its just slow applying the filters at times, and just seems a little "buggy" on my ICS rom. But it does work so I'm not complaining (on the old ICS roms it would just freeze up the entire phone and FC constantly)

So how can any of you say it's working when using words like (1 out of 5, lagging, black picture, freezes often)....That my friends is not working so again to not create false hope for any newbies running around trying to get a fix for instagram - It's an app issue with ICS and does not have anything to do with ICS Rom's. Period.

Lol very true. After playing more with instagram I can go ahead and say it doesn't work well enough to warrant using. Mine Freezes on applying filters and when attempting to export photos.
Also the pics that I was able to get edited/uploaded through instagram (after a lot of waiting and semi FC's) I noticed that the quality is severely degraded after it gets uploaded I freely admit I haven't spent much time with instagram (I have a real camera and use LR3 and CS5 when I want to do some photography) but is it normal for it degrade the quality so much?
After my pics were uploaded they looked they were shot with the front facing camera on my T-989 lol
I wonder if we all wrote them. Maybe they can help resolve the issues. Here's the link.

I have been using various TW based ICS Roms for sometime. Darkside, Infamous, etc. I have been so excited to use Jelly Bean and try out project "Butter" I notice there is an official stable release for Cynogen mod 10. Is it time to flash? I get anxiuos about it because I delt with an old HTC HD2 for a year and there were lots of "work arounds" and such. It became rather annoying. So I really like BLN notifications, and having a camera that "Just Works" and decent battery life etc. Are these things I am going to sacrifice. And also, if I wait until there is an official release of JellyBean for our device over the next couple of months would we see more stable builds shortly thereafter? Would it be worth waiting another month or two? or is time for JellyBean? Just curious what folks thoughts are about this? Who is using what? How it works etc? I am really looking for a DD something I can be happy with awhile. I can always just do a Nandroid and hope for the best I guess lol. Thanks for any input!

Definitely try CM10!!
You will fall in love.
I know exactly what you are saying about being hesitant because you want something that just works, without a bunch of additional issues to fix.
I always seem to find problems with other other roms that push me into looking for something else, NOT HERE!
CM10 is just so polished, It even fixes things that didn't work in any TW rom for me such as being able to send / receive MMS while connected to wifi.
It even has BLN built in and activated from the start.
I must say that CM10 + T989 = THE BEST phone experience I have EVER had with any phone.
I was getting so sick of going through so many wrongs, always to end up having to settle with some negative.
Everything just works with CM10 on our phone, and works well at that.
I finally dove in with the nightly CM10 builds about 2 months ago and now the official CM10 release.
Not a single lock up, force close, reboot, glitch or problem here in the last 2 months.
Battery life is really good, phone is smooth and fast, and most importantly it's super functional.
Everything works so much better for me than with any of the TW roms.
I love how CM10 is minimalistic and fast, yet has so many functional improvements and additions.
In my opinion it is hands down the best rom for our phone.
I think the fact that there is an entire team of developers working on CM is what makes it so good, it's not just dependent on one person like most roms.
Flash CM10... fall in love with your phone all over again!!
And after you flash CM10, flash this GAPPS http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Thats a good idea. I just read in the Cyanogem Mod Stable notes that the kernel was tied into the ROM very tightly especially with project butter. Whatever that means. So maybe I will try another kernel. Do you use an app or just the system settings?

I have not had any issues with the gallery, camera, or video recorder whatsoever. In fact, I took over 200 photos and 10 videos at a concert this weekend. I haven't seen any issues with it in the CM10 thread either, so I know it's not a common CM10 problem. Are you running the stock CM10 camera, or have you tried flashing the 4.2 camera? I know the 4.2 camera has some issues, thus why it's not stock on CM10 yet. I would say, try clearing your camera / gallery cache. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad flash. Make sure you wipe data / reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache, flash the rom, flash gapps, clear cache / dalvik again, fix permissions, then boot into CM10. Never had a problem doing it this way. I'm using 2.2.2 (i think) TWRP touch recovery. As far as the outgoing call issue, I have not had that issue either. Occasionally someone can't here me when they call me, or I can't hear them, but not very often. I had this issue on stock and every rom though.I think it's just a Tmobile issue. I'd say try some different radios. UVLE1 has been good to a lot of people.

I don't know if it's just my phone or if others are experiencing it too. On every AOSP and AOKP ROM I tried, I always get an FC when i go to camcorder, choose SD 480 video quality and switch back to the camera. The message i encounter is "Unfortunately, gallery has stopped."
Happens to others as well. I suggest using another gallery.apk and replacing it. I have done this before myself a few times and it's works. Also on some roms when taking pictures the phone will just cut off if the battery is low. Some work good and some don't.

I had an issue with rooted roms, on aosp and tw, on tw with the stock music player it would skip the first few seconds of a song, i experienced choppiness as well, I'm on the stock rom right now, its actually pretty solid.
I just noticed this yesterday too. I get occasional skips in the music, probably 2-3 times per song so I think I can live with it but it is a little annoying. I'm on black liquid by the way

Yea this must have something to do with CM, since everything is compiled from them anyway. I'm on Jedi 4.2.1 right now and there is no issue.

I've been using my s2 rooted for a while, both TW and CM. For the past week or so, every 4.2.2 ROM I've used has music playback issues.
Every 30 seconds or so I get skip in whatever music is playing, either with Player pro or Power amp.

Started happening all of a sudden. Basically whether Pandora or Google music after about thirty seconds out would just skip to the next track. This was on slim bean 4.2.2. Also happened on aokp. Just flashed bean stalk but havent tested.

Lately on aosp ROMs I've been having songs skip and be choppy .. I originally had all my music stored on my micro SD card and when I moved them over to internal storage the skipping stopped.. This wasn't an issue on TW though

we've (people in the CM dev thread) noticed a correlation between music choppiness and WIFI connection, though not enough to really pin it down
