[Q] Line out device for an amp - HTC One X

Is there any way to get a line out cable for a HTC One X so I can use it with my FiiO amp?
I really miss the downgraded sound quality from my mp3 player.

A 3.5 adapter to the bigger one (forget size, the one for mics and guitar leads) you can get pretty cheap on eBay or if you're in uk (I think only uk) can try maplin.

I successfully plugged a usb sound card into mine as a test (i was after the Mic in function for recording) however the line out also worked. I just used a cheap one on ebay but you can get better. You need a usb otg cable which will allow you to plug a usb dongle into it.
You can do this test for under 10 EUR then think about more expensive devices if its what you need.
Good luck

I dont think that it is possible to get line out from hox

Unless you are willing to do some serious modifications to your phone (eg soldering to the motherboard) your best bet is indeed using a usb sound card through usb-host. But like you said, this would still be double-amping. Depending on your budget you could find some pretty decent adapters on amazon or ebay. Top-of-the-line would be the Audioquest Dragonfly but It'd set you at around $250,- which for me personally is not worth the dollar.

An mhl adaptor will also get you audio out in hdmi format if that's any use.

I'm looking for something like this for our thunderbolts.
Ideally I'd like to leave this in my car and only plug in the 1 cable (which will have power + audio) then have a tasker rule that if headset is plugged and charging load the car app.
I find this this as well, http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-SKN6252-Verizon-Motorola-Adventure/dp/B000T3M0SS/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1301348086&sr=1-5, no idea if thatll work w/ the above one for the old mini-usb HTC phones.
any thoughts?
Interesting. Conflicting reviews on whether or not you can charge and listen to music with it at the same time. I'll pick one up and give it a try next time I order from Amazon.

great keep me posted. I may do the same considering it's price, just figure i would ask for confirmation from other users first.
I have the top adapter. When I go to Fry's this weekend I'll pick up a mirco to mini adapter and a usb coupler and see if any combinations work with the TB.
I have it on order and will have it here by next week.

Inline Headset Adapter with Controls for HOX

I've been using the microphone adapter part of an HS U350, but it's started to wear out.
Is there anything better available for the HOX? I've got decent headphones, hence I want an inline adapter, not a whole headset. Something with more controls would be nice
Thanks.

I appreciate the reply. The reason I'd like to use my existing headphones is that I have 3 good pairs and I listen to music. If a call comes in, then I can answer it without any messing around. Looks like I'll just buy another HS U350.
What about a Bluetooth adapter with a 3.5mm plug and a microphone. Is there anything like that? :fingers-crossed:
I think there are multiple of via bluetooth adapters, for example Jabra Street 2, and if I recall right nokia had one too. You just need to search one thats available in your area. (These are available at least in Scandinavia)

I don't have an opinion either way. Their website doesn't make it easy to find products though. What's the Beats adapter called?

Yeah, either Bluetooth or a cable I can plug my headphones into. Does that beats cable have male plugs on both ends?? If so, how does one use it with headphones?

Oh okay, sorry missed the cable part
If that cable is indeed the same that comes with the headphones (and it does look like one) then it's a male to male cord. I don't think it's compatible with other headphones (at least not with common ones) considering the Solo HDs have a 3,5mm jack to plug the cord into.

I can use the headphone jack but its not a clean source.. like a line out.
I have audiophile headphones and want to connect the incredible to my fiio e17 portable dac/headphone amplifier... the best sound comes from a line out from the usb that will get amped from my dac/amp... then get sent to my headphones. Since i have my incredible sitting around.
a couple of companys make high end mp3/amplified portable players.. the Vamp from vmoda is a portable amp that allows an iphone 4 to doc in it is $600 so thats $600 plus an iphone 4.. Ibasso makes a high end android player with a awesome amp... is $800.. Hifiman makes an awesome portable mp3 player that can drive some pretty hard to drive headphones is $600..
So if i can use a clean line out audio signal from my free incredible and connect it to the line in from my pretty good Fiio dac/amp then i have a pretty darn inexpensive solution to my sensitive/subjective ears.
sorry to get too detailed.. but i am a audiophile with a severely limited budget.
Well, I did not know that. I would think the closest thing you will find is the video output cables to do this job. If memory serves, it is the standard left and right audio channels, and video. Of course you would need another cable to convert to 3.5mm jack, which is not a very clean or good looking method.

[Q] USB Audio to External USB DAC

I desperately want to use my phone with a usb OTG cable plugged into a USB DAC, (specifically the audioquest dragonfly), plugged into my power amp. I have spent hours scouring forums and articles trying to find out if this is possible and have come up with no good solid answer. Will someone please let me know if it is possible, and if it is, exactly, (step by step), what I need to do in order to make this work.
Thanks
I have an el-cheapo USB DAC and it works perfectly.
I also have a Behringer Xenyx mixer with USB interface which also works perfectly; stereo playback and stereo recording.
I use a hifime mini DAC via otg and a fiio Mont blanc amp, works well and drives my beyerdynamic DT 1350s well.

I would always recommend getting a amp for a portal device, although ultimately the question is if the device has enough juice to drive the full power of the amps.
My set up cost 150 bucks approximately. The biggest issue is that you need to make sure the device supports OTG. The one does but my N4 doesn't without custom kernel.
Nuforce makes a combined android dac/amp but it's roughly 300.

Thought My HTC 10 came already with the hi-res headphones... I think I might have another one if it's priced okay... the only thing I'm missing is lack of Volume controls... and better Media controls also...
What the JPL will have more than this hi-res one... Is the JPL Hi-Res also ?

They are noise cancelling earbuds powered by USB-C which is just a cool concept. They should be decent quality but I don't think audio output via USB-C uses the DAC and AMP. Id still give them a try though.

I have EU package and ear buds were in the box and they really are nothing special. The bass was poor quality, I think red ear buds from HTC M7 were better quality.
Those hi res ear buds are just sitting in the box, I have Shure S315 so I dont even bother with any bundle earphones.

Thanks, Nice concept, the only issue with USB-C headphones in my opinion is the fact if you only have Type-C headphones then you cant charge and listen in the same time... having an adapter is a bad idea ( something more to carry )...
For me, Sony's way of handling it is better, the only issue is that it's proprietary... they have the Noise-Cancelling logic in the phone, and use special headphones with extra mics ( one per each side ), so headphones only needs new connectors for the NC mics in the 3.5mm plug to work ( making the headphones cheaper also )...
