[Q] Auto rotate and autobrightness problem. - HTC One X

Hi all,
the story goes like this. One fine day, i was jogging with my phone in my arm strap when it suddenly turned off and cant be turn on ever since. I sent it for repair the next day.
At the service center, the service person used a wall charger to charge it for a few minutes and the phone magically turned on by itself while i sent it in for repair.
Few days later HTC called and informed me they wouldnt fix the phone for free as it is damaged by water. I then took back the phone and realised it took 10 minutes to boot and autorotate and autobrightness is not working. In bid to solve the problem, I dismantled the phone to find lots of oxidation between the screen and the motherboard. Strangely there are no oxidation on the back of the motherboard. I then used alcohol to clean the oxidation away and put it with 2 boxes desiccant in a zip lock bag for 2 days.
When i reassembled the phone, the problem remains. HTC is quoting me SGD$700+ to repair the phone which includes replacing motherboard, powerbutton volume button etc which makes no sense at all since all other components are working fine! I believe this is a small problem which could be fixed easily by those who knows their stuff(definitely not htc).
SUMMARY: 10 minutes booting time + autorotate and autobrightness not working after water damage(water damage is diagnose by HTC). All other things work fine after booting into the os.
Can somebody who had similar experience or have the technical capabilities point me to the right direction to fix my phone?

Phone freezes up when idle

If I leave my phone on and come back to in about an hour it becomes unresponsive. The screen is won't come on, usb won't work and the power button doesn't work as well, but the lights still flash. All I can do is take the battery out and turn it on again.
At first i thought the keypad must have been getting disabled after a certain amount of time for some reason, but since the usb the connection alos dies when it's idle it must be something else.
I've been having this problem for awhile now. It first it started every once and awhile, but now it's getting to the point that I have to reset it every hour or so.
I just upgraded my ROM to Kavana 080408, but I've had this problem running the T-mobile WM6 ROM as well, therefore I'm guessing it's a hardware issue?
Any thoughts, questions, or help is greatly appriciated!
call tmobile and ask them to send you a new phone... its hardware issues...
Thank you. Err.. the only thing I haven't mentioned (for lack of mistaking the problem) is that just 3 days ago I dropped my phone outside and it rained the next morning. When I recovered the phone it was soaked.. I let it dry out and it worked again.
I think the incedent had to have been irrelevant, because I have been having this problem for about 8 months regaurdless, just not as severe.
Would T-mobile be able to know it got wet at some point and not exchange it because they'd assume the problem was due to water damage?
Well if you look under the battery to the right where the sim card goes, there is a litmus paper that turns purple/pink when wet and its white originally. I would just remove the paper if it is purple/pink and try to cut and glue a white piece of paper the same size. And then I would call them and tell them.
Glue and fish strips?
Thanks, but hmm.. how exact should this be? I was thinking about going to the fish store and buying some test strips and using those. Then i was thinking about thinning out some glue and using that to stick it. Does this sound good? I'll post how it goes.
Dash Arrived then Died
I just got my dash about two weeks ago. Before I could start finding my way around, it began acting strangely. It would not respond and sometimes suddenly cut off on it's on. Then it got to the point where it would not turn on right away. I would have to play with it (battery and SIM removal) and then it might turn on. I thought I was using the power button incorrectly.
Finally, the dash would not turn on at all. Since it was new and insured I requested a replacement. T-Mobile insisted that I test it with a alternate battery (I had a charger stand + battery on order but it had not arrived yet.) Since it would still not turn on via USB or power adapter (no charging lights either) I was certain it was not the battery. After arguing with a T-Mobile Rep and Supervisor I finally decided to lie (er um exaggerate) and tell them I had tested an alternate battery.
Before the new phone arrived the charger and spare battery arrived. I tried both batteries in the new phone with no problems.
You may want to try and get a new phone but the T-Mo rep definitely asked me the color of the paper strip inside the battery housing. My rep told me that it would change color if the LCD was damaged or cracked but I checked another phone (Samsung T409 and Motorola V188) and based on the locations of the strips I would assume it's a water damage test strip.
You may also want to see it you can remove a strip from an older phone.
Good luck!

optical trackpad replacement

Hi, my Desire has been extremely unlucky
It started suddenly with some mad behaviour of the volume keys and after a while it stared hanging at bootscreen.
Sent it to repair under warranty and after a month i got it back, they told me it couldn't be repaired under warranty because of some liquid infiltration. It was declared impossible to repair, even at my cost.
I was sure it didn't fall into water, so i opened it and actually found out that a small drop of water must have entered near the optical trackpad. Shame on HTC for not putting some plastic protection there. Really a bad design! A couple of pins of the very small connector looked oxidized. I found out that that faulty connection gives some weird behaviour, including impossiblity to detect the sdcard. After a good cleaning of the connector it started working ok, it's been working perfectly for over a month.
Unfortunately 2 days ago i dropped the phone and since then I can't access my sdcard anymore. I dismantled the phone again and tried about everything but i couldnt get it work. I'm not sure the problem is still related to the trackpad connector, as everything else works just fine, but as a last resort before reselling it for spare parts, i've been trying to find a replacement for the trackpad but i found nothing.
Anybody aware of any means to get a replacement? Any suggestion would be welcome.
I've been after one for ages after dropping my phone in my drink. I cleaned it up and it worked for ages then died and can't fix it again. Had mad volume behaviour while it was damaged.

[Q] htc one x problems after screen repair

hi, have searched and searched on the forum but no real answer to my problem.
i dropped my htc one x and the glass cracked, so i sent it away to a supposed reputable firm (i didnt realise htc repaired phones aswell otherwise i would have sent it there)
anyway the lcd display and brightness worked perfectly, the company have replaced the screen and now the backlight no longer works and flickers when touched or cpu is being used.
they have said it is the display IC, and coil etc,
they say that this was caused by the phone being dropped, and not by them and they have charged me (they take payment before sending phone back), they initially took the phone back, and 3 weeks later they have decided to wash there hands of it, have put the phone back together shodily tell me i have to put up with the phone as it is, and refuse me a refund.
they acknowledge that the ic was fine before they took it apart, but blame it on the nature of the phone design as to why it now doesn't work.
i would post link to another forum explainingg the possible issue (has no explanation of cause though) and pics of the phone has been returned to me, but i can't because im a noob
Basicly the question is,
Who is at fault?
And how could the ic get shorted out,
The backlight flickering is likely to be poor installation of the new screen.
Again this is an old example I'm referring to here. I used to replace the screens on the Nokia n95 quite regularly.
You get the screen assembly and the ribbon cable which attached to the motherboard.
If the ribbon cable was not seated 100% perfectly I would get the exact same symptoms you are describing.
No backlight. Pressing down on the screen would either get it to flicker or come on for a while.
It shows a poor connection. I took the screen back out and repositioned the cable back in. Reassembled and then it was fine after

Hi mate did you managed to get this sorted I am having the exact trouble same issue with a company call Elite Phones and Computers.
They are saying that the IC shorted out and the only repair would have to be a replacement board.

HTC One X ......Longshot......Please Help

My Bf recently dropped his HTC One X in the water for approx 2 seconds. We were not able to put it in rice.......Dont even know if that actually works.....The phone kept power and appeared fine. Took it home and used it for a couple hours with no issues. Then the screen just went black. The phone was still powered on, sounds and lights on the keys at the bottom. We took it to a cell phone repair shop, they waterproofed it, and replaced the battery, none of these worked and they said there was nothing they could do with it. We did not have insurance for it, and are forced to pay full price for a replacement, or revert back to the dinosaur age until our next upgrade. If anyone knows of anything that could be done to possibly fix the phone, it would be tremendously, greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Nothing you can do I'm afraid, best advice you can get from here is, if it happens again turn the phone off immediately, if possible put it in a bag of rice overnight or wrap it in a few layers of kitchen towel. If you leave it powered on the water seeps into the parts slowly and starts to short out the parts one by one as you have found out
Sent from Uranus, did it hurt?

HTC One X sunk in the waters

I have an HTC One X that was dropped in the water.
The guy only wants the data, and i took it out of it and gave it to him. So he told me that the devices is all yours.
I've been trying to fix it ever since he told me that.
The phone boots up normally, sound is working, vibration is too.
The screen's backlight, although set to maximum, it too dim due to water damage. So i took it to a repair shop, he replaced the screen, and a piece of hardware inside the board, but the screen works for about 10 minutes then completely goes off. So we put back the old screen and peice and the same thing happens, 10 mins of dim brightness... then no brightness at all. I'm currently trying to root it so i could stream and control it via PC. I now have it with a very dim screen that works for 30 minutes then needs to rest for 5 minutes so it could go on again.
Any suggestions on what i should replace to really solve that problem is very much appreciated as i really would like to make this device go alive again.
Put him in rice..And it will pull water out from phone..If that doesn't help I think that motherboard is too damaged..

we actually tore it down and left its parts for about a week in a box, would it still help if i did that?
Was the box warm? If not maybe there is still a little bit of water on connectors or somewhere..Cause I had the same problem on other phone..
