Hi,
My HD got into some mad bool loop yesterday. Just out of nowhere. I had AOKP JB rom and it was fine and in the afternoon I noticed it has a boot loop. I didn't do anything to start it at that point, AOKP rom was running fine for more than a week.
Now the problem is I tried ruu rom and recovery and everything and it's still stuck. What I noticed is that the phone vibrates twice through one loop. Once before HTC logo pops up and 2nd time (kind of shorter vibrate than first one) before screen goes black.
Any ideas how to fix that? I can go to HBOOT and Fastboot but when I try to go to recovery it loops again. Phone is S-OFF RL. Please help as I've run out of ideas and patience...
Cheers

If you are S-OFF, then reflash recovery and then a custom rom. Use the guide in my signature to find how to do that.

That command is wrong. the right one is:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
thanks! Done it but still got stuck in bootloop when I go to recovery. That means that phone is basically dead, right?

If you can not access recovery it is not promising at all. Try flashing a ruu then. If the ruu flashes fine and you are not able to boot, then you have a fried motherboard.
Oh I tried that few times already with no luck. Well, time for another phone... What's gonna' be...

Hi - I have posted in the leedroid thread with no response so i'm posting a new thread:
I was running leedroid 1.6b - i uninstalled facebook and all was fine. I then at some point yesterday rebooted my phone & it got stuck at the htc logo.
I entered fastboot which works fine, but then tried to enter recovery and once again it got stuck at the htc logo (vibrates a few times and does nothing).
I assumed my recovery image had got corrupted, and so i tried to go through the root process (the second one) again - everything seems to go fine until i try to enter recovery where it still gets stuck at the htc logo.
Can someone assist on what i can do to get recovery working again?
-------- SOLUTION BELOW ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so here are the things i tried that didnt work:
Unrevoked - couldnt run as required you to be in OS
r6 root - Could do step 1 but not step 2 (Hang at htc logo)
Official RUU Exe - Would complete successfully but still hangs at HTC logo
Also tried formatting sdcard, removing ext partitions, removing sim card - none worked.
Finally i tried this and it did work:
1. D/L PB99IMG zip from following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684259
2. Rename to PB99IMG.zip
3. Place on sdcard (i just took the card out & used a usb adapter)
4. Put card in phone & start with vol-down pressed.
The phone will detect the zip & flash.
This worked - now unrooted & ready for rooting again.
Not sure why the PB99IMG method worked when the RUU exe failed, but there you go

Does ADB find your phone?
What hboot do you have?
Do you have a goldcard?
Don't worry, as long as you can access fastboot you're not bricked. Although you must've done something more then uninstalling Facebook. Try flash a new recovery using unrevoked.
How you startet your Phone? (Home+Power dont starts Recovery for me) only with VoldumeDown+Power i can get to Recovery.

I was on hboot 0.75 but when i tried to root again it got changed to 0.80?
I swear all i did was uninstall facebook - even used it for quite a while after that - maybe something else did it.
My phone is unbranded so dont have a goldcard.
Havent tested adb - if it does work what are the steps?
I thought you had to be fully booted to run unrevoked?

As long as adb finds your phone you should be able to run unrevoked. Try that. I'm not sure about this, but you may also be able to run it from fast/hboot.
Remember that to boot into recovery mode on desire you'll need to first boot using vol down + power.
You could also try picking clear storage in fastboot if neither above work, but we can come back to that later.
Hi - I tried unrevoked - it didnt work - i think it wants me to be in the OS before it does anything - all it says when i am in the hboot screen is "waiting for device - plug phone in now and enable usb debugging".
I can get to both fastboot & hboot screens, and also usb works fine in both, so i know the drivers are installed ok on my xp machine.
All it does is show me the htc logo and vibrate a few times when i try to go into the recovery mode.
Is there a way to get unrevoked to do its thing without being in the OS? Or another method?
Also just tried an official RUU - got all the way through the setup fine - when it completed it reboot the phone, and it still gets stuck at the htc boot screen & vibrates

Did you remove HTCFacebook.apk? Or Facebook.apn? HTCFacebook is part of the system and should not be removed..
was your SD partitioned for A2SD+ and is it still? Installing a Rom that does not support A2SD+ with an ext3 will cause bootloops.

Try the following:
Boot your phone while holding vol down.
Wait for the "searching for p99img (or whatever it is) to finish.
Press vol down three times, then click power.
Press vol up to confirm.
Try boot your phone as normal.
Did that work?

Not sure - i did it through titanium backup as the update would not install - guess that is what did it? I'm sure it was the normal app not the htc one though.
Yeah my card does have an ext3 partition - the phone isnt bootlooping though it is getting stuck at the htc logo? Cant even get into recovery to flash another rom.

That's very interesting! I tried to uninstall fb apk with titanium several times and while uninstalling my desire reboots.
So seems that I had some luck with that...but still fb stays
Maybe you uninstalled the htcfb apk.

Anything else i can try? If not i guess i will have to get the phone replaced...

Finally fixed it - solution in post 1
Spoke too soon - was all up and running again but the phone decided to reboot by itself after about 4hrs & now is stuck at the logo again.
Tried the method i used before but no luck this time.
So now rerooting, unrooting, PB99IMG do not work for me - can't boot into OS or into recovery...
Think my phone must be faulty?
I'm facing the same problem as you now. So, do you have any permanent solution so far...?

Hi all,
Was attempting to root my desire HD and install CM7. Somehow, I managed to screw up the phone. I was using ACE so at some point I had root, and was able to flash different partitions (which is where I screwed up). Here are the facts:
1. Phone boot loops
2. There's no working recovery partition (I manually flashed that when I did have root), and a completely busted system partition
3. the phone is still S-ON (not sure how this stayed this way) - which means I can't fastboot
I tried downloading and installing the stock ROM, and it loaded, and installed - but then neither 'recovery' nor 'factory reset' do anything. Both still lead to boot loops...
From researching the web, I understand that:
1. If I don't have S-OFF - I can't fastboot, and even the PD98img.zip won't install
2. I can't get S-OFF without having a working system first (either via HTC's tools or some root'ing app).
Am I SOL, or does anyone have ideas of what I should try?
thx.
Blake

You haven't tried running an RUU yet? It restores your phone to factory state. Best way is to flash an RUU and start over with the Advanced Ace Hack Kit. I'm pretty sure you didn't read the manual properly and follow it word for word. By RUU I don't mean the PD98IMG.zip, I mean the exe file. Connect your phone to the computer and run the exe.

I tried - but i got the 'failed to communicate with your phone, make sure USB is connected and phone is in debug mode'...As I understand it, running the exe requires that phone to be in a working state. I only have hboot now...
Am I mistaken?
In hboot, press power on fastboot. When FASTBOOT shows up in a red background, then connect it to the computer and try running the RUU.
If that doesn't work download the htc sync (drivers). You need to switch of the antivirus before installing. The program will prompt you before.

Ok - I managed to get the right RUU from shipped-roms, and I used it to flash the ROM. It took a few mins, and then told me that it was successful.
However, I'm still stuck in a boot loop...

Thanked you by mistake. Tell me, how long are you waiting after turning on the phone before considering it to be boot looping? For any ROM, the first boot always takes time. Not too long, but a few minutes. In that time it will just show the HTC splash screen. This happens because the dalvik-cache has to be built and the time it takes depends on the number of apps. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you're assuming too soon that it's bootlooping. Wait for some time and see.

Hello everyone,
I have been using this website to try out different things with my DHD. Last month I rooted the phone myself and ran jellybean on it. Then I wanted to try android revolution so i wiped that off and copied another rom in it. I went through the installation process but for some reason it did not work properly. Now when i start my phone it boots into recovery mode and if i select reboot now it restarts and shows the Green HTC logo with white screen and then the screen goes total black, as in black light comes up and stays like forever. I am a noob as its obvious so please help in as simple language as possible. Waiting for your suggestions.
Thanks.

So me being the impatient guy that I am decided to unroot/relock my HoX. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714
I downloaded the nandroid that matched my ID, HTC_044. Restored the backup, all was fine but the ROM was rooted. Flashed stock recovery and kernel too.
I then deleted the SU files from system/app and system/bin and /xbin. Rebooted, but somehow SU was still there. So I deleted the files again and wanted to boot into stock recovery to do a wipe.
So I boot into the bootloader, tried getting into recovery. Had the red ! exclamation mark. So I flashed the recovery again and that's where the problem started. My phone is going crazy right now.
It's bootlooping at the HTC quietly brilliant screen. 2 seconds and it reboots forever. I tried forcing my way into the bootloader, but then the bootloader has a mind of it's own and bootloops as well. Whenever I manage to get into the bootloader, it boots for 2 seconds then it goes back into bootlooping.
Here's a video of everything happening. I need help! Battery is at 100% last I checked, but it's been bootlooping for 3 hours now ):
Nobody? ): My phone's been bootlooping for 7 hours now D:

Why don’t try to open it and disconnect the battery. I think letting it drain out doesn’t mean the battery is 0% (no power).

He is full stock ATM and even the bootloader is relocked, he has better chance of claiming warranty via HTC and letting them fix it instead of opening it himself and trying to fix it (which I doubt would be of any help)... again there's a chance that he could damage or tear one of the cables while doing it...
@ OP
If you don't get any solution within two days, it's better you send it to HTC if you are still under warranty... If you have experience opening up the device, then go with @moom999 soln...:good:
Hello all, so yesterday I went on my tablet (Nexus 7 2013 WIFI ver.) and browsed the net a bit and went to sleep. I recall having around 30% battery power. This morning I wake up to an apparently flat battery (power button didn't turn on anything) so I just plugged it in and did something else. After a while, I took my tablet and started it with the power button. However, it got stuck on the Google logo and never fired up anything. I've rooted the tablet quite some time ago (months) so the cause is not from there.
Things I haven't recently done:
Installing an app.
Rooting or flashing anything.
Updating an app.
Things I have tried doing to fix the problem:
Booting into FASTBOOT then trying the recovery mode = still stuck on the Google logo.
Booting a custom recovery image using Wug's toolkit = frozen at the team logo (TWRP) / black screen (CWM).
Flash Stock + Unroot (Soft-Bricked/Bootloop) = FAILED (flash write failure).
So now I'm really stuck and desperate to make the device work again. I've been reading all day long and trying all sorts of solutions to no avail. And it seems far-fetched to me for a device like this to just instantly brick itself without any reason at all.
Can anyone help me with this case ? Or does anyone has any idea what just happened to my tablet ? :crying:
EDIT: I'm afraid that warranty might not work as the device was unlocked and rooted so it's the last solution for me.
Bumpity bump
No one has any idea what happened to the tablet and how to fix it ? I've tried doing some more flashing but to no avail. It just refuses to flash and keeps failing to write the files.
I think you need to leave out on the charger for 1/2hr without doing anything with it. You are probably using what little power it has charged by trying to reboot it, etc.
I had to do that once and it did the trick.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
There is no reason you should not be able to get in to recovery (power and volume down).
You could call Motorola. They have good tech support.
The exact same thing happened to me. I rooted it months ago and haven't changed a thing since then. It just froze up a few days ago. I restarted and it just gets stuck on the google screen. I can get into the bootloader, but when I try to go to recovery, the google screen comes up and won't go away. I've tried every method I can find for flashing the stock image and absolutely nothing is working. I just get stuck on the google screen.
Please update this if you find a solution!

If you can't get into recovery or flash any images it sounds to me like a hardware failure. Bad memory maybe? If you've tried everything then RMA to Asus before the one year warranty runs out.
Have you tried to see if your computer sees your N7 by typing fastboot devices if you have the sdk installed?
