My girlfriend is killing me with this. She gives me a ring (missed call), it means that she is thinking about me, checking if I'm alive and I don't know what else...so if I don't drop call her back, she hassles me all day long.
any app ?
To make it clear, this will call only those numbers ONE ring (shorter that 3 sec).
any one have like these apps ? :victory:

I don't mean to offend you. Better tell your girlfriend you wont die that easily or get a girlfriend who doesn't do this stuff. xD

I love this phone...but for my purposes, having it on vibrate = having it on silent. I missed TWO job interview calls having my phone on vibrate in my pants! I barely had time to call 'em back today to set up an in-person!!!!
I found a program a few weeks ago to handle my volume problems....is there a program that handles the vibration problems??? I guess I'm one step away from changing the vibration to just one long vibrate for texts and calls....but this soft motor probably still won't help it out!
Anything? Or am I doomed to putting this on craigslist and waiting for the next big phone???

I think it agitates everyone pretty well actually.
To be on topic, though, I don't know of any apps, or software mods at all really, that will increase the power on the vibration. That's a hardware thing.

Really? Seems great to me. Way better than my previous HTC phones.
Apparently Light Flow has settings where you can set particular vibrations for particular notifications (i.e. how long & how frequent you want them). Haven't tested it myself, but I've read about it. Link. Perhaps if Light Flow doesn't work, try Sound Manager V2?

I tried light flow but I could never seem to get it to play nice w/Handcent.. It'd always stutter my ringtone. Even when I turned notifying for Handcent off...
On a table, it works fine. On a bed or couch or pocket...it's garbage. And I really didn't notice it until last week when I needed it on vibrate. Now, I wish I'd noticed it during the 30 day period of returning the phone....
Shoot!
Has anyone noticed that with the latest google navigation, the nice phone lady no longer warns you when your turn is coming up? She just blurts out, "Turn left." when you're in the far right lane maybe 20 yards from the intersection. She used to say, "In 200 feet, turn right," then after a bit, "Turn right." Is there a way to get my verbal warning back, or has Google really just made their navigation almost useless?

I noticed that as well. While I don't use navigation that often, it was very noticeable when it was missing. Almost missed my exit.
I thought it was just a glitch, or that I missed it being said. Glad to know it's not just me.

The only thing I can think that makes that make sense is they're assuming everyone is using a mount and keeping the screen on like a real GPS nav unit, so they can see their turn coming up. But that's a bad assumption.

Hmmm, could be. It would be a huge oversight on their part if that is true.
Funny, because I would be using a mount if they made one that fit the phone while in a case. I bought tje docks (both car and desk) and returned them because of this. I'm not going to take my phone out of the case every time I want to use a dock.

Yah. I dont know why they did that
Maybe we should make a fuss in the comments in the play store.

Hadn't noticed this, but that does suck. My gf got me a dock from radio shack that fits the hercules with a case on it

Yeah I noticed that as well but I had already given up google nav for Waze. Waze has much better fluid directions ahead of time - plus it has speedtrap and traffic alerts as it's a social networking navigator app. Way way better.
i use both Google Nav and Copilot. Nav became more convenient so I use it almost daily. However after the update came the "New (soft) lady voice" and I hate her. She speaks to soft and I can't hear her as well. I want the loud booming robotic voice back but don't know where to find it.
That leads into my second issue with Nav. The two ladies seem to start and finish each others directions.
example:
(slv - soft lady voice): now take upcoming left... (LBRV takes over) IN 300 FEET, NOW TAKE LEFT
CONTINUE ALONG GENERIC... (slv) road for 100 feet and arrive at your destination.
Its annoying.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the new voice either.
Has anyone else noticed their instructions getting cut off? Usually when I'm using navigation I'm also listening to music over bluetooth. Since getting ICS it seems like the music doesn't get turned off fast enough, and sometimes gets turned back on too soon, so I can't hear if I was supposed to turn onto Cedar Rd, or Cedar Ave or what.
Okay this is getting weird now... I got a third lady in there. Cheerful & Perky. Where the hell did she come from?
Now I get directions from all three.
I just want the original booming robotic lady voice again.
To top it off on my S3, I only have SLV and C&P.
C&P is a step up from SLV but still not as loud as BRV.
C&P sounds exactly like the voice in this Google Search comparision:

You may have a separate issue altogether. Do you have more than one TTS engine installed? If so, you may want to try getting rid of one or two. Check settings under language and keyboards and see if you can disable all then check one to work.

Thanks but nope, that is not it. I haven't installed voice packs. The only thing I can think of is that happened after a Google Maps Update or after the ICS update. All three ladies will speak during Navigation. I swear I'll have to get video of it somehow.

Clear data/uninstall reinstall? After that, I'm out of ideas. Maybe flash AOKP, since it won't let anyone use any voice other than Google TTS.

I now have my apartment buzzer come to my cell phone and I would like people to be able to buzz me if there is an emergency at night when I have my phone in silent mode. Is there any way I can make an exception for the number of the buzzer so it always plays the ringtone even when in silent mode?
Thanks in advance.
Tasker can be programmed to play a ring tone and switch the sound on your handset on when setting numbers are calling.
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
You may want to edit the title to make it easier to understand.
If you are in the US, Google voice can do that for you. It doesn't even matter what kind of phone you have. Look into it

Thanks for the replies. I am in Canada so Google Voice is no go and I will look into tasker... there has to be some way to do it in stock JB...
I don't want my GF showing up at night an dnot being able to buzz herself in because my phone is on silent.

No there is no way to do it on "stock JB". You need a 3rd party app.
Why not give your GF the gate code?????

It is just a buzzer box at the front of the condo building. Everyone has to be buzzed in I think... I don't think there is a code that can be put it that would allow someone in.

Sooo how do YOU get in if no one is home? Do you still need to push the buzzer and it calls your phone and you have to press a button on your phone??? lol if so, that's ridiculous.
hi all,
I am not sure if this is already posted/answered.
whenever someone calls me , the phone starts to vibrate, but the screen lighs UP after almost 2 seconds. There is a delay in screen coming UP.
I am using default ringtone , but still the problem is there. What can be the issue?
Thanks

Not sure if this is the same but I call my phone from house phone, it rings 2 or 3 times before Note does anything? No wonder people don't leave messages!! 2 or 3 rings before it wakes up, another 2 or 3 rings before I check caller ID..............agh!
Is there any fix for this issue? this is quite irritating..!
It's probably due to incremental ringtones that you feel that. Grrr disabling it.
Also a 1-2 second lag is a good sign that your phone is going into deep sleep properly.

This is a well known "bug" (or function, as Sammy prefers to call it) on many Samsung phone models.
The cure is free, & is to be found in Android Market (as I prefer to still call it).
Here it is
Hi, I just recently transitioned from the Note 3 to the LG G3 & find the phone to be an incredible upgrade!!
I got used to the "Blocking Mode" feature on the Samsung phone & find the similar feature "Quiet Mode" on the LG phone to be very lacking. On the Samsung phone I could activate the blocking mode & still receive phone calls from predefined numbers. The LG phone seems to offer a similar arrangement whereby phone calls from specific numbers could be allowed but the quiet mode feature works by putting the phone either in "Silent or Vibrate Only" modes & thus with the "Quiet Mode" activated even though it allows the call to go through but I can't respond to it as the phone is Silent or on Vibrate while I sleep.
This seems like a big oversight whereby the whole purpose of allowing phone calls is defeated!!
Can anyone please advise what to do or if I am doing something wrong??
Thanks
I think the allowed contacts will be able to reach you in Quiet Mode. So the phone rings when someone calls you that is in your 'allowed' list. I haven't tried it though. An good alternative to LG's Quiet Mode is the app Silence. You can download it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cabooze.buzzoff2

I've tried it and yes, the phone doens't ring at all. Well Silence Premium is much better.
Thanks, does silence premium control the LED light as well?

Wow what a total f**king worthless broken feature. I had it setup for calls from family to come through and my wife and kids were in a wreck and my phone never rang. Wtf.
Multiple numbers listed in the allowed callers list and nothing. Verifiable, repeatable. I only used it while sleeping. When I calm down I will decide whether to return this $650 piece of $#*+
Extreme call blocker also is very usefull, you can create a black or white list, even block sms if you want! Really a great program!
I made as Tasker profile that silences the phone between selected hours when it's charging. Then I made another profile that allows calls from favorite contacts to go through anyway, with increasing ringing. I think I could make an app from this, if someone is interested.

I highly recommend the app Do Not Disturb. It has a few more features than Samsung's blocking mode and it's free. There is even a premium version for a buck and a half that gives you more functionality. Plan on buying it to support the developers but free version provides all I need for now. Definitely recommend trying it out.

Here is an answer to your problem. Long press quiet mode and you get his menu which should hold the holy grail or for the lame people a 'solution'
No, you still can't choose Sound under Sound profile. Only Silent an Vibrate are available. And that means no sound when someone important calls, which means this Quiet mode is useless when you are sleeping. Might as well turn off the phone completely.

I don't think you understand the problem..Allowed contacts are still silenced so the phone may ring but you will not hear it.

When you put your contacts in the white list in that programm i mentioned (Extreme Call Blocker) your Phone will ring on a volume which you have specified even when your Phone is muted!

Cool but what's that got to do with my post! I quoted member "Pilz" who was talking about stock quiet mode i am well aware of the 1000s of programes like extreme call blocker that do a better job than LGs attempt
AT&T rep duplicated it on the phone with me when I called about something else. They'd been using* it too and didn't think to test it first either.
Does that feature work on any variant?
For any other helpers, yeah we know there are settings. That's the point, they don't work.
Thanks for the working alternatives posted by others.
