I recently Odin'd back my phone to stock DI18 about 2 weeks ago, but today I barely realized that the Asphalt demo is gone! All the other stock apps (nascar, sprint zone, ect) are there. My phone is rooted but won't let me install clockworkmod. Will missing this app still allow me to get ota updates? (and yes, I do plan on sticking to stock rom, I can't really afford to mess up my phone again).
It should be able to receive updates but I wouldn't count on an update any time soon

Long story short, she loved the DINC 2, we bought her one (I have a DINC) and I rooted and all that crap to ditch the bloatware. That being said the other day she was in the menus and turning things off and I think she may have jacked with the Google framework. I can't sync her contacts, add a Google account, or access the market. I tried reflashing the ROM but without a wipe it looks hopeless. Is there an APK or something I can install in order to restore the functionality?
Thanks in advance.

Flash Google apps "gapps"
sent...ah whatever its on there now..
That is actually a bug with the stock firmware. Happened to me several times. Go into manage applications and see that many things are greyed out. You need to factory reset. This is caused be deleted apps from the manage applications menu. Just happens randomly when doing that.

I noticed this happened on my friend's rhyme. If they factory reset will the issue still occur?

More than likely... I had to do a factory reset three different times on my Inc2 when it kept losing google related apps, rooting it solved those issues though
Flash a different ROM other than stock. Something's wrong with it. I lost my alarm.

My friend at work bought a second evo 4g, and brought it to me to root and rom for him. Rooted with revolutionary, no problem. Flashed cm7 and miui on there, and made backups of both so he can flash back and forth between them to see which he likes.
So everything up to there was fine. He went onto the sprint site this morning and did the esn swap to the rooted evo, and does not get any data (3g icon) now. He had already swaped to it after he bought it, while it was still stock, to make sure it worked, and data worked just fine. Then went back to his original evo, and gave me the new one to work on for him.
Is there a data fix that can be done? Or should he call sprint to activate it instead of doing the esn swap on the website?

I think it'd be best to go to / call sprint and have them activate to alleviate any problems.
Did he activate while on CM7 or miui? YOu need to be on a stock rom when activating. I would just tell him to get on a stock rom, and call sprint and have them activate/esn swap one more time. It's highly possible the activation just didnt go all the way through their system.

Yeah, he was on miui. I wondered if that would be the case. So does it have to be factory stock, or can I flash a stock based custom rom, and which would be best suited?

I may be reading your post incorrectly, and if so then let me know.....but did he buy an entire new phone just to root? Why didn't he just root the phone he had?

No, your reading correct. He wanted to try it himself, that way if he messed something up, it wouldn't be on his daily phone. He then had trouble rooting and brought it to me to fix. Had to unroot with ruu, turn s on, then re root and flash.

Any sense 2.0 rom SHOULD work. However, to make it easier, its better to just flash a stock rom, just in case.

Ok. qbking77 does a lot of videos for my epic that are very easy to follow, and did a few for the evo as well. He did one for the kingdom synergy rom a couple months ago, so I sent my buddy the link and told him to try that one. Think that would work ok even though its 3.0? I'll dig through the threads for a stock 2.0 as well. Any specific one I should look for? Thanks
Edit: Kingdom Synergy worked. His phone is up and running. Thank you evo community, for your help!

i'm basically having the same problem with my phone. unfortunately, on order to get the 3g back, you need to un-root. there is some kind of issue with communication with the sprint servers when activating the mobile network, even if your running a stock rom. so the only way to gain access from the mobile network is to go to a sprint store and have them un-root your device. if anyone has found another route, without having to un-root, please explain how

Absolutely not true. You do NOT have to unroot to fix a 3g problem, just be on a Sense rom. Rooting has absolutely NOTHING to do with signal problems or activating.

HAAHA no, sprint doesn't un-root devices. YOU rooted it, YOU un-root it.

Umm, just be on a Sense rom, preferrably stock. Then you can call sprint and have them re-activate or re-provision the phone. Again, you can absolutely do this while rooted. My last three phones, I rooted them out of the box before I even activated them.
Hello!
Just got strange problems with the display of my nexus.
called the hotline today, and on monday dhl comes and replaces my broken phone.
Quick question:
how to clean-up the memory of the phone best?
Dont want any service-guy to restore the deleted photos.
Thanks in advance!
I would think a factory reset would be sufficient.
Yep, a factory reset will do it fine, if you wanted you could reflash on top of that to be extra sure, but no one in the service centre is going to bother trying to recover your stuff after a factory reset, they see hundreds of phones a day.
If you're really paranoid about deleted data you could use the app Forever Gone to write over the free space.

Are you rooted? If so, i recommend to unroot first before returning it. Then you can factory reset and stuff.
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
i think a factory reset is a quick way to delete your img's but it doesn't really delete everything. hell theres even an app to Undelete Pictures. If your worried try an app that writes over free space or try restoring a few backups over n over .
Recently my note 2 has been having issues... The signal bars go from 1-4 constantly and occasionally dropped called and sometimes it won't even let me call or text. Att said they'd send me a refurbished phone. I don't want a refurbished one wtf. Do you think if I factory reset my phone it could fix it? Also, how can I save my nova launcher settings n stuff? Would take forever to make it how I have it with all my apps n stuff..

under Nova settings/Backup and Import there are menus to backup your set up
brad's right about the Nova Launcher backup for Nova Launcher's settings. What's the "n stuff?" Texts? Pictures? Video? May need to be more specific.
Flash a different radio/modem. Are you on a completely stock ROM? A tw (stock) based rom? Cm based? Rooted? If so, what modifications have you made?
The fastest (and best way) to backup your phone is make a nandroid backup, as it backs up every little thing that can possibly be backed up, and once restored, returns your phone to the exact state it was in (for better or worse). But you can do an advanced restore and just restore data, that way you don't restore the problem you're having as well.
