Hello!
Just got strange problems with the display of my nexus.
called the hotline today, and on monday dhl comes and replaces my broken phone.
Quick question:
how to clean-up the memory of the phone best?
Dont want any service-guy to restore the deleted photos.
Thanks in advance!
I would think a factory reset would be sufficient.
Yep, a factory reset will do it fine, if you wanted you could reflash on top of that to be extra sure, but no one in the service centre is going to bother trying to recover your stuff after a factory reset, they see hundreds of phones a day.
If you're really paranoid about deleted data you could use the app Forever Gone to write over the free space.

Are you rooted? If so, i recommend to unroot first before returning it. Then you can factory reset and stuff.

i think a factory reset is a quick way to delete your img's but it doesn't really delete everything. hell theres even an app to Undelete Pictures. If your worried try an app that writes over free space or try restoring a few backups over n over .

Long story short, she loved the DINC 2, we bought her one (I have a DINC) and I rooted and all that crap to ditch the bloatware. That being said the other day she was in the menus and turning things off and I think she may have jacked with the Google framework. I can't sync her contacts, add a Google account, or access the market. I tried reflashing the ROM but without a wipe it looks hopeless. Is there an APK or something I can install in order to restore the functionality?
Thanks in advance.

Flash Google apps "gapps"
sent...ah whatever its on there now..
That is actually a bug with the stock firmware. Happened to me several times. Go into manage applications and see that many things are greyed out. You need to factory reset. This is caused be deleted apps from the manage applications menu. Just happens randomly when doing that.

More than likely... I had to do a factory reset three different times on my Inc2 when it kept losing google related apps, rooting it solved those issues though
Flash a different ROM other than stock. Something's wrong with it. I lost my alarm.

Bought this for my wife for christmas last year and recently shes been moaning about it for a bit becoming really slow and also that the facebook friendstream app keeps hanging. I'm guessing the friendstream thing is a bug? Its a sim free handset and totally stock. The only way to get it to work is to remove the FB account and re enter details, it'll then work for a few days and then just stop updating and the only way is to remove it again....
Any ideas on that part? Also there is only about 3 or 4 apps and its got 20mb free and the handset keeps complaing about low space, so I'm guessing the only way around that is to root and unlock the handset to install a custom rom that allows data2sd etc?
Not that fussed about the rom but she likes sense widgets so a sense rom is preferable but something that doesnt feel like its going to grind to a halt every minute
Thats providing I can of course unlock the bootloader, something ive not yet tried.
1. Download SOS Backup, backup everything.
2. Factory Reset.
(That will fix the low memory problem, because it will clear all the unnecessary data that apps leave behind after deletion. As well as deleting everything in the internal memory. Don't worry about your music/photos/videos though, they're safe unless you tell it to clear the SD card as well. Which would be a stupid move on your part! )
I can only help with the slowness problem if her phone is rooted. So, is it?
thanks, no its not rooted its 100% stock

Well that may be fixed with a factory reset too.. But in case it isn't, just remove the friend stream and Facebook widget etc.. They're notorious for slow performance. Sorry i can't be of better help than that.. :\
if you root your phone you can install a custom ROM and you can get rid of all these problems but you'll lose your warranty so i think its your choice.
Try this

Folks, I have a question. Sorry if it appears very n00b, or if it's been asked before, but I need to know.
As per title; when I do a factory reset on my rooted KFHD, will I lose root access?
The reason I ask is this (apologies for the long story):
I sold a KFHD on eBay, as I had 2 as well as my Nexus 7...
The KFHD was rooted, with Google Play etc. installed, and I sold it as such.
Of course, I did do a full wipe on it before I posted it. I then went as far into the initial setup to check the Play Store was still installed, which it was (although the older version, the Android market).
I then did another factory reset, switched the KFHD off & posted it. The buyer then contacted me stating that the Market WASN'T on the device, and whinged that I had sold him a non-rooted KFHD claiming that it was rooted.
He says he then took it to a local computer store, where they assured him the device wasn't rooted.
After a long palaver of him wanting to return it, and me initially telling him to piss off, I eventually agreed I'd refund him after I got the KFHD back (makes sense, dunnit?) he left me negative feedback, and stated that he took the KFHD back to that computer store to get it re-rooted (at his expense).
Now, has he been done by the computer store, or was it possible that the device really did lose root etc. after the 2nd factory reset?
Oh, and I used this method for rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893838
Not likely since the root files are stored on the SYSTEM partition.
A factory reset wipes the DATA and CACHE partitions and not SYSTEM.

My old Epic 4g is rooted with stock deodexed gingerbread rom. After I rooted it a year or so ago, I removed some of the bloatware on it.
My daughter lost her phone and I want her to use this one for now, but in order to switch the main google account you have to do the hard reset/restore to factory settings. Am I able to do this with no problems?

It should be fine. The factory reset, just clears the email, contacts, apps, etc.

You're fine with resetting back to factory defaults.

Guys have an s4, digitizer works but screen is black. TWRP is installed, need to factory reset and I have found screenshots of the main TWRP screen but need screenshots of the rest so I can try and fumble through a reset blindly.
Anyone have any links or such, or an alternative method?
Not sure if you want to try this but...I just read a post on xda that no matter what, if Knox is tripped, Samsung will still honor their warranties.

My wife was more worried about the naked selfies she sent me a few weeks ago on her last business trip than warranty issues. Apparently her SD card was acting up and pics went to internal memory. I've copied them off and deleted but she'd feel better after a reset.
If pc still recognizes the phone you can run Adb shell and do a factory reset with adb.
Try Google Adb shell.
