I am on stock rooted ma7 and I keep getting a notification to update but I don't want to because of all the people having issues with it. Is there any way I can stop it?
It just happen to me. And was told to accept it and it will reboot into recovery when in recovery just reboot to system and it will go away. I just did that and no more annoying update.

What if your using a custom recovery like TWRP and not stock? Is this still what will happen?

Confirmed, worked for me too.
On a custom recovery it will fail and never prompt you to install again

Also, doesn't the download stay in the cache folder, should it be deleted ?? or moved to SD Card
dang it, I hit the install and reboot button and it actually updated. I was rooted running a deoxided stock MA7. I assumed it would just go into recovery and be done, but not update.
I'm not sure exactly what happened. I was able to keep root; have SuSuperUser and used VoodooRootKeeper. I can't remember if MA7 was Android 4.1.2 or not, but phone is showing that and MA7. But I'm not getting incoming calls, which I read was an issue with MC2
I did do a Nanroid a couple hours ago, but never tested it to make sure it was working..
---------- Post added at 03:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:57 PM ----------
I was able to fix the call issue. It was actually worse. I wasn't able to receive calls nor make any. I rebooted into Recovery. I wiped the Divack and Cache three times. Rebooted the phone into the system, and calls started working again.
Still showing MA7, which I though was Android 4.1.1. If the phone did get updated to 4.1.2, I'm not complaining since I can use the phone. And appears I'm still either on Deoxidzed MA7 or the Dexodized MA7 was updated to MC2 (I believe the prior), but I just know all my installed mods are still working, and some required deoxided rom such as the 4-1 reboot and all app mutliwindow. And I kept root.

If MC2 installed it would say MC2 not MA7, and yes MA7 was 4.1.2, so my guess is the update did not install, and I believe root keeper would need to have been done before you took the update, not after update
Not mine, but this is what it looks like below, if you Had MC2

I figured it didn't take as well. And yes, I did temp unroot with Voodoo RootKeppe before hitting the install and restart button I'm just waiting for someone to do a deoxidized, rooted, unthemed MC2 rom that I can just flash. I don't user the stock kernal.. I would like the security update, but I don't care for all the themes, and don't care for all googies people add. Ideally, I like barebones with just the Playstore and SuperUser. I can add everything else I want later.
When CM goes beta, then I look into trying that out.

I've had no success in flashing the pre rooted .zips through clockwork. Shabby's would not boot past samsung screen for me and the other one posted in general by saladinacc had no data. When I flashed the .tar everything worked fine just had no root. Here's the way I got root.
1. Download ODIN & flash FB17 .tar from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505437.
2. Download a GB kernel with built in recovery, I used Rogue Kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341564.
Download .tar and flash through ODIN. Do not try to reboot into system as it will not boot yet with the GB kernel.
3. Download SU.zip from here http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip. Boot into CWM recovery and flash su.zip. Again, do not try to reboot into system as it will not boot yet with the GB kernel.
4. Download stock FB17 ICS kernel from here http://www.mediafire.com/?f571n4e8wdhud21 and flash through CWM.
Reboot to system and you should have rooted stock FB17.
After flashing back the stock FB17 kernel you will lose clockwork.
This is just a quick and dirty work around until the devs release a pre rooted CWM zip.

I haven't tried yet, but can we just unselect the Auto-Reboot option in Odin? If not, just when the phone is about to reboot, hold down power and Volume Up and it should go back into Recovery.

I downloaded the update but could not install it since I don't have the stock recovery. It tries to boot into the stock recovery but because I have TWRP installed it booted into that. I'll try a Kies update later to see if that works.
I got my notice and automatic download for mine as well on the Bell network. Samsung Canada along with the main carriers have put out the new I747MVLALH1 Firmware. Our OTA updates are smaller and will very by carrier because they only contain the files that need to be updated rather then the whole firmware itself.
This is very good news for all us Canadian 747 users because the LH1 Modem along with the firmware changes include a great deal of proformance/bug fixes, our launch firmware with our phones was kinda the ****s to say the least so this new one should really help out.
As for keeping root. I am using SuperSU root paid for the Pro version which has a Root keeper funtion in it when you update via OTA. However the update does require the stock recovery so if you have flashed CWM recovery you will need to flash the stock one back first then apply the update.
Just finishing my phone backup atm to my computer then will try the OTA Root Keeper and see how well it works out for me.
Any chance someone could post the modem I747MVLALH1?
I'm still home and downloading as we speak. I will cancel before the installation and if its still not posted online by the time I get to work, I will upload it somewhere.
BTW, the Rogers update is the same size. I have a feeling this update will include the removal of Universal search.

I updated via the OTA, I try'd out Chainfires SuperSU Pro version which has a Root Keeper function to maintain root while updating on OTA, it did not work for our Canadian Models unfortunately but that is okay it is an experimental function anyways. At any rate I simpled flash CWM and push the SuperSU root app back onto my phone via CWM just fine to retain my root, and you can quickly and easily use chainfires Triangle away app to reset your flash counters.
Everything has worked fine for me. I am using the new LH1 firmware on my Bell phone and I am completed Rooted ^_^
For those less experianced and dont mind waiting for a root injected rom that is all good. For others you can take the steps I did and so far so good OMG I am loving LH1 over what we got out of the box!
You can also get the rogers and telus update through samsung-updates.com. ot will be a odin flash. I will do a modem cwm zip when i get home from work.

I was at one time running cleanrom. But, I bought a AllShare Cast Hub with my 50% coupon. I can only get that to work on stock. So, I went back to bone unrooted stock, took the OTA than granted multi view, then ran the auto root with Odin. Then I took the newer ota. It still says modified, and super su is still installed. When I open super su I didn't get any sort of error. So, I ASSumed I was still rooted.
But, when I dig deeper and tried to get root access I am not actually rooted anymore. I wonder why it says modified then. I expected to lose root, but I also expected it to remove super su.
The ota downloaded, rebooted, installed, with no hitch, when I was rooted. So, root doesn't prevent the ota from downloading. But, root was the only modification I made, nothing else, otherwise the AllShare cast doesn't work.

I did a similar update with the LK7 OTA update. I was stock rooted with all status at normal and flash counter at zero. I installed Voodoo OTA RootKeeper (v2.0.3) and ran it to get a protected copy su binary. Then let the phone flash the OTA update and reboot. I too still had SuperuserSU and appeared to be rooted, but when I tried to launch Titanium it couldn't get permission. I had to open RootKeeper and re-apply the protecyed copy of root, then everything was fine.

What method did you use to root the phone?
If you have customer recovery installed, I think that cannot be fixed.
I use CF Auto Root
1. Root using CF Auto Root
2. Use TriangleAway to reset counter
3. Install OTA RootKeeper to keep root
4. Factory reset
5. Problem solved
For another question, Samsung only release app2sd fix to I9505 in certain country. Still long way to come to T-Mobile.

The apps 2 sd is available in the MEA release for Germany. You can find it in the 9505 section. It can be flashed to Tmobile phones as long as you flash a tmobile kernel right after. I am using an MEA rom right now. The pop up message is because you have rooted and flashed custom firmware to your phone. Your device is now "custom" and cannot recive stock OTA updates. Unless you use triangle away by Chainefire.

If you are keeping stock rom and want to install OTA directly. I recommend you root and keep the stock recovery, like what I did.
Most of the people install customer recovery because they want to flash 3rd party ROM.

Wiping cache/dalvik-cache is the ability of custom recovery, not rom.
With stock recovery, I am not able to wipe either one but I can wipe dalvik-cache manually using a root explorer.
I am sure you can find a command to run in terminal emulator to wipe cache and dalvik-cache.
I still like cachemate
Root is necessary:

I don't think there's a simple way to restore stock recovery only.
If you really want to, you have to restore everything through flashing the stock odin tar.

I think you should strat by reseting your phone to its original state and you can to this following the tread of the toolbox(i'm browsing woth tapatalk now so i will try to come back and post the link but it should be easy to find). You will use triangle away in the process.
Then update your phone trough samsung kies.
Voila complete stock 4.3 with knox

Is there anyway to put the stock recovery tool back and doing the update without resetting the phone back to original state? I'm not exactly following what you mean by toolbox

I think you are looking for 4.1.2 stock recovery right???? Just making sure I understand, if I'm right I have what you need.
Hi, yes I just want to replace the clockwork recovery with the original Samsung recovery so I can upgrade to 4.3 over the air.
If that's what you are talking about please send a link.
They're are downloads for the t mobile Sprint ave Verizon variants but not AT&T...

Here's the link to stock recovery for MH3

This may interest you also.

You can update to 4.3 with a custom recovery, or flash it via ODIN.
Check it out before you do OTA.

Can you still get to TWRP ? team win recovery ?? ....
But I think Zen's plan will be better.....
Here's the cwm/twrp zip for ucamc3 recovery.... (attached)
Note that the OTA may still fail if it detects anything missing or different than what it expects. In that case, a wipe of /system, then a revert to MA4, may be needed.
You want me to go back to TWRP? I have the stock recovery right now.

The simplest path is to reflash TWRP, then flash the recovery I provided above, then see if the OTA will complete.
You might also be able to get the OTA to complete by running the openscript option from TWRP .. I know DS has had some success with that, but ymmv. If you try this option, you may get more information about where the OTA fails - take note of that and report back.
If that doesn't work then the next option would be to wipe /system and then odin flash UCAMA4. This should get you a clean OTA path to 4.3, and your data and apps should be preserved (although there is some risk). I recommend making backups beforehand in TiBu and then copy your SDCard contents to PC.
Thanks for you help will report back later. have to wait another 20 hours to dl the OTA update again.
You can turn off auto update of network time and set your time ahead 24 hours.
An alternative if ota doesn't work is to flash the stock rooted mk6 package - odin or cwm odex... DS provided a link earlier.
If Knox is a work requirement, you would need to decline SuperSU offers to disable Knox and you would need to run SuperSU and request full unroot.
