When I put in my usb charger into my phone it feels like I have to give a good push it out it in. It makes me feel like it might break the charging port.
Anyone else ?

If you are using the provided usb cable then it should not be that tight as you are saying.
But there are many after-market usb cables which can be either too tight or too loose.
I would suggest you go to amazon.com and get the retail Samsung brand usb cable for the phone
and you should not have any problems. I got one from Amazon for less than $4 bucks shipped.
By having a usb cable which is really tight and hard to plug in it can eventually loosen the usb port on the phone.

When plugged in with the charger that came with the phone at Tmobile I notice that the cable connecting to USB port is not perfectly straight when connected and phone laying flat on a table. If I look at the cable connecting to the Micro USB phone port I see it is slightly sloping. The slope is slight but definitely it is not 100% straight. Has anyone else noticed this? I ask only because the phone is brand new and costs a pretty penny. Thanks
Yes very slight slope I have had this phone since October 14th with zero problems with charger and port for USB so nothing to worry about mate

I remember my old Vibrant having the same problem (its not an issue though).

I had a similar issue i guess....
The micro usb jack does not slide into the phone smoothly. feels like its pushing up against something and i need to tilt the cable to get it in.
I just use a different cable and it works great, no resistance.
Anyone else have this?

This is probably a dumb question but what kind of USB cable would I buy if I wanted an extra charging cable. I don't know what the phone side of the cable is called (USB mini ?) I know it is slightly different than my camera but really close.
u can use ur old vibrant one if u have one thats what i did for extra

Any Micro-USB cable will do.

Just be sure you know what you are buying. Some will be charge only cables, which means they can't be used as a USB to transfer data.

Ahh. Now I see why my camera cable wouldn't fit. I didn't think there would be another form factor that was so similar. (But then again the 2nd gen Kindle has it's own form factor USB port)
I don't think my camera is charge only but it does have a block where some of the pins would go and so won't fit the Hercules.
Goto monoprice.com. Order a crapload of them of varying lengths. Get ones with ferrit cores if you want, but not necessary. They might help with data integrity of data transfers. I find that they get in the way. But monoprice has inexpensive cables of high quality. Almost all around a buck. Fast delivery too.
If you are looking for usb power bricks, make sure they are 5 volt outputs. Do not skimp here as this could hose your phone if cheap electronics send bad voltage to your phone.

There is no such thing as "bad voltage." All USB chargers are approx 5V but if it were a bad charger and was outputting 12volts or 1volt the phones charging circuity will handle it and either not charge at all or adjust accordingly. Bottom line is ANY USB charger will work (or not) but chances of it damaging the phone unless it was hitting it with 120VAC are very slim.
Lol this thread is probably making it more complicated for you. Just go on Ebay and search for micro USB cable and make sure it says charge/data. Most will have a phone manufacturer name in the title (HTC Samsung Motorola etc.) Any of them will work.

Yeah, I've been using my iPad charger for the phone quite a bit. Works great. I'm set on chargers I just need more cables.
Does anyone have the same problem?
when the usb charging cable plugs into the phone...there's a slight play/free room while plugged?
Not really. It just unplugs very easily. Wouldn't sweat it really unless you have sloppy charging issues. Try a different cord and see if you have a tighter one that works better if you do. I am going to be doing the wireless charging mod to save my USB port anyways. I miss the charging dock of the galaxy nexus greatly because I hardly ever used my USB port.

Agreed. And it's not the phone's microUSB port. It's the cable included. It's quite pathetic. I failed charging my phone once because it was JUST A BIT OFF because of this looseness with the cable. Ugh.
On another note, can one easily replace this microUSB cable and STILL reap the advantage of the 2mA charging adapter?
Should be able to unless your cord is bunk.

I want to purchase a 6 or 9 foot cable for my note 8. Will any kind of cable be OK? I will be using the samsung wall plug with it. Thanks for your help!!

The only thing I can suggest is that you try it. But normally long USB cables do not have a happy ending. I have some short cables that will not charge the note.
You may want to get the thickest cable you can find and hope the thickness is in the copper and not cheap cladding.
I am using a 10ft cord from kindle. Works great. Got it at walmart

I think the cable is good up to 2 meters (6 feet), any cable longer than that will result very slow charging or even does not charge at all.
The kindle one has no issues charging the note8. I was worried as l have heard nothing over 6ft but this one works just fine.
So i got a cheap data cable in a package awhile ago. It works perfectly with my S2 and my S3 but does not work with my S4. Is there a specific wiring setup that is used on the S4? Im hoping i can cut the cable and rearrange some wires to make it work. Does anyone else have a cheap cable that works?

Any usb cable which works properly on S3 will work perfectly on S4 too.
They are identical in the way they are wired, only differences are perhaps
the shape of the mini usb rubber surrounding the metel connector which
plugs into the phone.
If your S3 cable does not work on your S4 it's only due to not making a proper
contact with the phone's mini usb which it plugs into.
Make sure you do not have a case on the phone when plugging in the cable and
make sure its a tight snug fit.
You can buy a data cable specifically made for the S4 at Amazon.com
for less than $4 shipped.
Here is the amazon.com link for the cable: http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Micr...79182614&sr=1-15&keywords=galaxy+s4+usb+cable
Good luck!

Thanks buddy! I thought so! Gonna have to try the cable on my S3 again. Been awhile since i used it, cable might have gone bad. Now that i have UMS back to my S4, i wanna shorten a cable to about 3 inches to fit in my pocket and carry with me.
If you go to amazon you can find short cables too.

I got a 10pack from ebay in lotsa colors. However the quality may not be that great, i found the black colored usb-microusb cable didn't work, where the yellow did work. Kind of annoying when using it, for transfer, flashing, or odin, or something else, and with a dosen usb ports, some usb2 some usb3 (and with a +power utility) it can get really annoying. But I learned that if Odin fails - it CAN be a bad usb cable (or wrong cable..)
bad usb cables are obviously prone to git you a bricked phone.
