*These directions are for 4.2.2 AOSP ROM's and folks who have Titanium Backup installed/configured and are using TWRP version 2.5.
-----------------------------------
My Android-newbie cousin has an AOSP ROM I flashed for him. Somehow, something got corrupted for his Play Store account and he couldn't download updates for his installed apps.
These are the directions I sent him on how to resolve it. It's basically what I did myself last month when I encountered a similar issue.
The directions are a bit of a "Shotgun" approach and not all steps are necessary. But it's how I did it and I'm just tossing it out there for anyone else who may need help with this.
----------------------------------------
1) Click the hard button at the bottom left of phone.
2) Select "System settings".
3) Scroll down the list till you get to "ACCOUNTS" subsection.
4) Click the Google option.
5) Click the Google account you use for Play Store purchases.
6) Click the hard button at the bottom left of phone.
7) Select the "Remove account" option.
8) Select the "Remove account" option again.
9) Open Titanium Backup.
10) Scroll allll the way down to the bottom.
11) Now scroll up a few pages till you see several "Google" items. This will be about 90% down the list.
12) Open each item one by one and wipe "cache" or "data", depending on which option is presented.
13) Reboot phone to Recovery mode.
14) Select the "Wipe" option.
15) Select "Advanced Wipe".
16) Put a checkmark on "Dalvik Cache" and "Cache".
17) Swipe to wipe.
18) Click "Back".
19) Go back again.
20) Go back again.
21) At the main menu, click "Advanced".
22) Now click "Fix Permissions".
23) Swipe to Confirm.
24) Click the "Reboot System" button.
25) Let phone sit idle for FIVE minutes after it fully boots up.
26) Ignore any license denied pop-ups from apps looking for your Google account.
27) Agree to the Google location consent (if prompted).
28) Ignore any "... has stopped" messages (these are common/expected in this situation).
29) Click the hard button at the bottom left of phone.
30) Select "System settings".
31) Scroll down the list till you get to "ACCOUNTS" subsection.
32) Select "Add account"
33) Select "Google".
34) Select "Existing".
35) Sign into your Google Account.
36) Uncheck the option for "Keep me up to date with news & offers" (unless you want them) and click "OK".
37) I recommend letting Google keep your phone backed up with your Google Account. Leave this option checked, and click the right-arrow to proceed to the next step.
38) Let phone sit idle for FIVE minutes while it syncs in the background.
39) Reboot phone, then open Play Store and test.
PS. I just did this on my phone again so I could give you the walkthrough steps. And I noticed that my Play Store apk updated itself to the newest version.
You'll also need to re-set up your Play Store settings.
I put checkmarks in the following items:
-Auto Update apps over Wifi only
I removed checkmarks from the following items:
-Auto add widgets (to home screen)

So, I upgraded to Froyo yesterday; I have a rooted desire so I used a rooted rom based on the official OTA.
Everything was fine but for the life of me I couldn't get my gmail contacts to link to thier corresponding facebook info. I would go to people, select contract, hit 'menu' and choose the 'link' option, the three options would show up: All Contacts, Facebook and Twitter. But then when I chose 'Facebook' all the fields would be blank and there would be no facebook contacts listed.
Here's what I did to fix the problem:
1. Hit the menu button from any home screen
2. Choose 'Settings' from the pop up menu
3. Choose 'Accounts & sync' from the settings menu
4. You'll see a list of sync'd accounts, tap on the 'facebook for HTC sense'
5. You will now have a choice of 'Sync now' or 'Remove account' at the bottom; choose 'remove account'
6. It will say 'are you sure all your information will be deleted from the phone' choose 'yes'
7. Reboot the phone by pressing power, volume down and the optical pad at the same time
8. Once the phone reboots, repeat steps 1 - 3.
9. Choose 'Add account' from the accounts and sync.
10. Choose 'Facebook for HTC Sense'
11. Enter your email and password
12. You're done!
I hope this helps it worked for me.
Here's the deal...
Few weeks ago, I tried to update Lookout mobile security through the marketplace. It never got past 'Installing...'
I rebooted the phone many times and even uninstalled Lookout from my phone. When I go into downloads, it's still there and says Installing. When I manually search for it and click it, it says Installing. I can't even re-download it now.
Advice, anyone?
Thanks!
This phone is by far the worst of all 3 android phones ive owned about this. I usually go into manage applications and clear the market cache. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall look out out what ever the problem app is.
This happens every ten or so apps that I install or update. It was rare on hero and moment.

Sometimes there are problems with the Android Market in getting updates to work properly, this is not unique to the Lookout app. Please go into the Manage Applications settings page and clear the market's cache, then force stop it. Start it up again and check if the Lookout update will take.
If those steps fail to reset the Market then we have to clear more settings. Please carefully follow the directions below:
1) go to your Settings
2) Select Applications
3) Select "Manage Applications"
4) Press menu and select "filter" and then "All" (Or click on the Tab that says "All" on the top of the screen)
5) *THIS IS IMPORTANT* Scroll down to the following applications and then clean the data. Hit "okay" each time when prompted!
a) Go to "Checkin Service" and then select "clear data"
b) Go to "Download Manager" and then select "clear data"
c) Go to "Google Apps" then "clear data"
d) Go to "Google Talk Service" then select "clear data"
e) Go to "Market" and then select "Clear Cache"
Open up the Market again and you should be able to download Lookout or update the application.
[Q] How to switch from "A" google account to "B" google account in market
hi guys
i want to switch google account for market, because a got chceckout in the second account and i want to buy some things,
is there any way without factory reset?
i dont know maybe some special app?
thanks
I had the exact same problem and couldn't find any way other than factor resetting the phone
Have you tried clearing all Google account data, and clearing the Market data? Might that help?
yes i tried, it erased all my installed apps list from market but no query about login ... always i was logged in with my "old" account
You could try this :
1.Go to "Settings" - > "Applications" - > "Manage applications" -> "Downloaded" - > try to find out "Market" app and open it - > press "Force stop" , "Clear data" , "Clear cache" , "Uninstall updates"
2.Go to "settings" - > "Accounts & Sync" - >press "Add Account" - > click on "Google" - > press "Next" - > press either "Create Account" or "Sign in" (If you have already made your new google account) - > Log with your new account
3.Open Market app , it would automatically install the latest update and I guess it would ask you to log with your google account , then you might be able to log in with your desired one .
If that doesn't work , you could try this :
1. Go to application list - > start an app called "setup" - > On the botton of your screen would appear 7 empty dots , by each pressing of the button "Next" one of the points would become green in color -> Go to the 6th section , which is called "Set up account" -> Press "Other mail accounts " - > Fill in your new google acount -> Then you might be able to log in with it in Android Market

Open the "Google Play" app and press the home button to return
Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Applications
Select the "ALL" tab, Search for "Google Play Store" and press it to open.
Press "Clear cache"
Press "Force stop"
Return to Settings → Applications → Manage Applications
Press "Google Services Framework"
Press "Clear Data"
Press "Force Stop"
Start "Google Play Store" and it should give an error
Reboot.
Once your device has restarted Google Play Store should work. Wait a minute or too if it doesn't.
This should help if a corrupt cache is the cause of your problems (a corrupt cache might lead to strange error messages, amongst others). If it doesn't help, you might try the same steps but include "Clear Data" for the playstore app.
I too facing this problem
Tried al steps but no luck
Still same error

I just started having this problem.
Tried all steps, did not work.
Tried factory reset, did not work.
Phone is an LG-LS970 stock, never been rooted or had any ROM installed. Phone is the same rom and such as when bought from the store.
What can I do now to fix this?
[edit] Also wanted to add that all the Gapps are unable to be deleted as there is no option to do that. The Delete option that is on apps that I install is not even present on the pre-installed apps.
[edit 2] Wow, such empty. I was told I could get help for this problem here. Guess my friend was wrong.
Is there a way to use this without it recording web browsing/search or location history? I don't care for it to be customized to me, just to answer general answers without my privacy being compromised.
Have tried the build.prop tweak to revert to Google On Tap but doesn't seem to be working.
Thanks

You can disable all data collection from Google, including the Google Assistant, using the following steps:
1) Go to Google My Activity by search myactivity on Google (sorry; it doesn't allow URLs)
2) Open the hamburger menu (three lines)
3) Click Activity controls
4) For each desired section, toggle the switch to the off position.
To delete any current data:
1) Go to Google My Activity by search myactivity on Google (sorry; it doesn't allow URLs)
2) Open the hamburger menu (three lines)
3) Click "Delete activity by"
4) For "Delete by date", click the dropdown box and select "All time"
5) Click the delete button at the bottom of the page.
