This is what happened to me.
I was running Jellytime Rom very well on my DHD. Now i wanted to use another Rom (SVHD sense).
I WIPED DATA, CACHE, DALVIK CACHE, etc.
BUT..... I FORGOT TO DO NANDROID BACKUP. :crying:
After i flashed SVHD Rom, i rebooted. But i was seein my old Rom's boot animation and nothing after that.
So i rebooted into recovery again and NOW DID THE NANDROID BACKUP, WHICH I FORGOT.
Please help me what to do now. Is my phone bricked ?? If yes, please help me to unbrick it
Is your bootloader unlocked? If so read my signature.

I have rooted my DHD with Hack Kit and having S-OFF.
Then make sure your ROM downloaded correctly. Or flash another ROM.
Try reflashing your recovery.
From your original post, it seems as if you haven't done a full wipe
Presumably you're using 4EXT Recovery, go to the Wipe option & second from bottom is an option to wipe all partitions, use that & flash the ROM

I rooted my 2.2 yesterday and lost usb charging and usb connection. I bought a sdcard reader and installed the pc36img file and reflashed my rom. When I rooted I did unrevoked3 and unrevoked forever. After flashing pc36img I rerooted with unrevoked3 and still show s-off on unrevoked forever. I did the OTA 2.2 update and lost root, I was able to flash clockwork mod. I am trying to get super user privilages back, so I did a nan backup and downloaded a few different roms. when I try to flash any rom i get stuck in a reboot loop. any help on what to do about loop problem or how I can get super user back would be awesome. thank you. :/
Did you do a factory / cache / dalvik wipe before flashing the custom ROMs?

OK I am going to try again and wipe everthing, let you know in a few minutes.
Thanks for the help guys
That did it up and rooted AWESOME! Thanks so much everyone! sometimes it is just the simple things.
i was on Calkulin's_EViO_2_ROM_v1.8 and i rebooted to recovery to restore back to cm7 rc4 but it gives me error error while flashing image. so i try to wipe and reinstall another rom and works but it still stuck in htc logo.
Are you performing a full wipe, factory/data, cache, and dalvik?
yes i performing full wipe and everything im uisng clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5. did those and install a rom but still stuck in logo screen and i cant restore i made few backup and none them work!?
Have you tried going into the bootloader, select clear storage [factory reset], then flash the rom? Also are you flashing a kernel?
im just flashing regular rom on using clockworkmod. ived done this flashing roms many times and never happen like this before.
Well at this point, it seems like your old backup may be corrupted. Make a new backup, and then try to restore it.
how i do backup when i already delet wipe already so i jsut need to install another rom and do backup and restore it?

Correct, make a backup of your current, flash a new rom, then try and restore.
ok i install Calkulin's_EViO_2_ROM_v1.8 agian backup and try restore but it gives me boot image error same thing.
i had a similar issue. my phone wouldnt even boot past the splash screen but i was able to correct that by flashing the stock evo ruu in hboot from my sd card then reflashing a custom rom over that. im not sure if you have to re-root but in my case i had to run unrevoked again. i had to reflash at least 4 times before my issue resolved but havent had any issues since
can you show me the steps and what i need?
1. Go into recovery, select backup, backup current rom
2. Wipe factory/data, cache, dalvik cache under advanced
3. Flash a new rom, let it boot up, go back to recovery, backup that rom
4. Restore previous backup just made
You can install the official RUU upddate from sprint then download the newest HTC SYNC to your computer then plug in the phone thru the usb and run the RUU file as if you are running an app. Remember this will delete everything includidn your root but you can easily re-root with unrevoked. Hope that helps? I had that problem on my incredible and I did this and it fixed it.

That's a separate partition, that is okay, since you don't have it, no ened to worry about it.

to unroot do i need 2.2 version to unroot?
If you're on hboot 2.10, you'll need a 3.70 ruu.
im sorry please show me how to unroot my phone since i cant boot up im on bootloader.
Use Sprint Lovers ROM the PC36IMG.zip version put on root of sdcard go into bootloader, update, reboot there you go. No re-root needed. I ALWAYS keep this on my sdcard root just in case. Trust me it saved my EVO more than once. You will lose everything but better lost info than lost phone. Try RA Recovery...better than any IMHO
So I decided to root my phone and upgrade to JB. But after I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone, flashed CWM Recovery and downloaded "Vicious JellyBean V2- No SU Zip necessary- Francos kernel and WiFi fix Zip" then went in to fastboot mode and installed it, my phone is hanging up on the new multicolored x splash screen and will not load. I waited 30 mins, I bricked it. So I went back into fastboot mode and reinstalled the JB, but still same thing.
So I am without a phone because I dont know what to do. :crying:
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!! TIA
what do you mean by fastboot mode. You should have been flashing it through clockwork. Did you wipe your data, cache and Dalvik cache before hand? Or make a nandroid backup before installing Liquid?
If not sounds as if you are going to need the toolkit or push the stock files via adb to flash back to stock then start again
Get this set up.
I don't feel like debugging for two hours via text and reply.
I'll recover as much as I can.

Lol, meant to paste that link.
Once that's installed I'll remote connect to your PC and try to fix this.

I wiped with toolkit didnt cache or Dalvik cache. I have a replacement device coming today and want to try again. Is there a link to somewhere with step by step directions. I would assume the replacement device has factory settings so do I have to wipe, etc?

Manual Method
Toolkit Method
Just download a JB rom from the Development forum after you've unlocked bootloader, flashed a custom recovery, and have rooted your phone. Most are bug and glitch free...
I reflashed JB and it worked!!! Thanks guys!! Love JB

grats. next time, please dont incorrectly use the term 'brick'
brick = unable to turn on. no bootloader mode [fastboot], no recovery, no download.
Hey I am new to this so I had a T-989 running on 4.1.2 or something and so I installed CWM and rooted it using the T-989 toolkit. Afterwards I forgot to wipe and installed CM10. I was stuck on the booting screen for 40 mins and when I tried to go back to CWM it didnt work. So using the same toolkit I flashed the stock ROM. The stock seems to be gingerbread 2.3.6 and now the toolkit will not recognize it. Please help. I want it to run on CM10
Forget the toolkit and do it manually. First do you still have root? Try installing twrp recovery , you will have much less problems. Or try cwm again and make sure you follow the steps provided. Usually it's wipe/format, then format system, flash rom, wipe dalvick, wipe cache partition, fix permissions, reboot.

Thanks for the info I was able to flash a 2.3.6 Gingerbread ROM onto my S2 using the toolkit and then from there on I had to reinstall the CWM and root and then using another guide I used the DarkSide wipe and reinstalled everything manually. Solved. Thank you.
I have a rooted HTC Evo 4G. It is rooted with revolutionary and the s-off. I didn't root my device. I was playing with trying to install busybox from the busy box installer. It failed. But now that I have rebooted the phone(swapped a new battery on). It is stuck on the HTC EVO 4G white screen. I can get to the hboot screen and can get into recovery for Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4. I have tried some stuff. I'm here so it's safe to assume nothing worked. I have wiped the cache partition, I have tried the Fix Permissions option, Wiped Dalvik cache, wipe data/factory reset. I am knowledgeable with computers. Just not sure about this issue or which direct to go.
What can I do to get the phone back operational? Is there an image i can put on the sdcard and flash this thing with? I think I can manage that.
I'm so late in the rooting game here, there is so much information, not sure what I'm looking at. So I thought I would just go ahead and ask the questions. Maybe I won't get beat up too much and get pointed in the right direction.
I'm sure someone here can help you. A detail that you may have left out in your explanation is: what ROM you expect the phone to boot into.
Sounds like you just need to re-flash a ROM while you are in recovery.
Plenty of ROMs around here to choose from. I might recommend a very simple "stock" ROM for starters.
Later on, consider using a different recovery going forward. Evos historically have had issues with CWM. Try Amon Ra or SmelkusMOD...

Yup, I would recommend Smelkus after you fix this
Go into recovery and make a full backup first (this way you can advance restore data later)
Then, as suggested above, grab a stock rom and flash it through recovery (making sure to wipe EVERYTHING)
Last, try to boot up your phone. It should work
Once it does, restore any data if you need to...if not, flash SmelkusMod recovery and then flash your rom of choice

I have the revolutionary recovery. Do I need to replace that with the smelkus mod?

If you've wiped cache, dalvik cache, and factory reset your phone then you have no ROM to boot into. Flash a rom and you'll be good to go

Thats incorrect....the rom isn't stored on the data partition, which is what a factory reset wipes
ROMs are loaded from the /system partiton
