Install the host files and reboot. If you are still S-on make sure you system link.

Try to instal it via recovery (use flashable zip with host files), it worked for me.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
its not working again
the ads came back
can u give me a zip file like u used maybe it will work
btw i use the same rom as u do
plz can somebody help me?
It will only work if:
1. You're S-OFF, or;
2. The ROM you're using has a symlink from /system/etc/hosts to /data/data/hosts
Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741435
ok so can somebody tell me whats the upside and whats the downside of doing s-off??
cuz im not really familiar with that thing
When you s-off you don't have to reboot into recovery to change /system files. And that's all. Except posibility to repartition your phone's storage.
if i do s-off then i will have to do wipe to everything again like u do when u install new rom
btw installed the adfree enabler that u gave me from that link, now it just suppose to work???
You should wipe but then you can restore from nandroid backup.
If you s-off you can just put hosts file in /system/etc
but when i do wipe and then i will restore with the nandroid backup then.
does the nandroid backup backups the data of the games i have on my phone???
Nandroid backup backups everything!
It's complete backup of all your data on phone. You can backup, when install any other rom, play with it and finally restore previous state.
Do nandroid backup from recovery every time you flash somthing from recovery.
and where does it save the file after i do the nandroid backup??
If you have clockwork recovery it store backup on SD/clockworkmod/backup/
Since S-off raises way to much questions for you, first try this.
Download and install the host files again.
Then locate them with a file explorer, either in "/data/data/com.bigtincan.android.adfree" or "/mnt/sdcard/hosts"
Then open a terminal emulator or adb shell.
Type su (just to be sure)
Then "cat /data/data/com.bigtincan.android.adfree/hosts > /system/etc/hosts" or "cat /mnt/sdcard/hosts > /system/etc/hosts" depending on where the host file is.
Reboot.
This worked in the oxygen thread when adfree was messed up for some reason.
sorry for the ignorance but can u tell me how to open the terminal or that adb shell??????
and can someone give a tutorial on how to do s-off???
Download and install this.
from the recovery or normal??
i have samsung galaxy y s5360
in rom manager there is flash clockwork mod recovery when i click on a message comes unsupported device
then a dialog box comes that install manually and so on i presse yes then two version comes

No issues.
Here's my install process to the letter:
1/ Backup all my apps using Titanium backup Pro
2/ Make a Nandroid backup
3/ Using ES File Explorer backup all apps to SD card
4/ Place MTD Partition files on SD card along with PG76IMG.zip extracted from RUU file
5/ Reboot to recovery and run recovery portion of MTD partitioning scripts with MTD set to 260 35
Clear Data, Cache, and System
6/ Reboot to recovery
7/ Run boot portion of recovery script
8/ Power down
9/ Run PG76IMG.zip at hboot and update everything
10/ Power down
11/ Remove PG76IMG.zip from SD card and replace it with Alquez's PG76IMG.zip that is clockwork recovery 5.0.2.6
12/ Place root.zip from the rooting section of general on on the SD card
Boot to hboot using power and down volume
12/ Run recovery update
13/ Power down
14/ Reboot to Hboot again and choose recovery
15/ Install zip from SD card and choose root.zip
16/ Reboot into OS and voila. Rooted.
17/ Download and install Rom Manager
18/ Updated Recovery to 5.0.2.8 using ROM manager
19/ Do what you want.
20/ Have fun doing it.
Extracting PG76.img from the RUU:
1/ Clear your user temp directory in windows
2/ Run the RUU update and leave it at the first prompt
3/ Locate rom.zip in your user temp directory
4/ Copy it out to your desktop, etc.
5/ Cancel out of the RUU update.
6/ Delete files from user temp directory
7/ rename rom.zip to PG76IMG.zip and place in root of SD card
8/ Flash that mofo.

I do nandroid backup, install new ru and restore nandroid backup and everything works... (cm 7.2)

Off topic, and apologies. But I gotta say it. Your Yamas script for bt4/5 rules dude. Many thanks.
Could someone please help me up and upload the .zip file so that I can flash it through HBOOT?

Thanks I got root and after that I flashed the stock recovery again, so now I have stock recovery and I have root too
Hi there, I have a question. Since I have upgraded both RUU from your post is there a way we can flash latest firmware 2.26 and not lose s-off?
++++++++++++++++++++
All I did is check software update it download about 25mb. Then I click apply from the menu that come after download complete. It took several restart and upgrade my system flawlessly. I had Hboot-1.09.0099 after that. I flashed hboot 1.08.0000 from the previous rom u posted.
I think this two post should be combined.
I started with hboot 0.90.0000 that is the most important thing. hboot 0.90.000o is not compatible to many RUU. I bricked my phone twice now. LOL anyways
Hey guys im Vivek and some days before I had a problem with installing 18 mb update and yes I'm a rooted user .the thing what I did to successfully install the new updates is flash android one stock recovery by flashify (app on play store)then uninstall ur root (open SuperSU settings and full unroot) and an important note that u should have ur android 5.1 update zip on ur SD card.power of ur phone go in reboot mode then install zip from SD card (install ur 5.1zip) and reboot system then download the remaining updates from settings -about phone - system update - it will work guys good luck

if you want to replace kingroot with supersu,
download kingroot & supersu from this thread... check that threads attachment for links..
Read that thread carefully... & uninstall current kingroot or reinstall this new downloaded kingroot..
& only follow all steps of kingroot replacement with supersu...
reboot your device once before following his steps!
OR
if you only want to uninstall any apps.. download & grant root access to System app remover (ROOT) & remove apps you want to remove.... also check & empty that app's recyclebin..

Hey y'all,
I rooted my phone with Kingroot and I was trying to get SuperSU on it. I tried a ton of different methods like SuperSU Me but it didn't end up working so I settled on Kingroot.
I was trying to uninstall Google Apps I don't use with Titanium Backup but every time I try, it just doesn't remove itself. I tried using Kingroot's version to remove the apps but that didn't end up working either.
I know my root works because I can use Root Checker and terminal emulator to 'su'.
Any suggestions would help!

You may have a partition mounting error.
If you have twrp recovery then goto the mount section and make sure system and data can be mounted. If yes then it may be a permission for R/W access for system.
I had all kinds of issues getting permission to write to /system.
You need to start by getting rid of King root. I used it to root initially also but swapped to super su. I also installed busybox the app. If the app can install the busybox tools then you should be good to go.
Also check a root file manager for the ability to mount "root file system"
If you have a terminal app then you can check your partitions permissions my typing 'su' then 'mount'. The mount will display the current state of all partitions without making any changes.
