Recent OTA update for Stock VM HTC One V - HTC One V

Anyone tried this yet?
I imagine you'd only see it if you are running the stock Sense Rom. I suspect it would cause issues with my root however, figured I wait a few weeks for smoke signals before I decide if it's something I need or not.

it updates the hboot and makes it impossible to downgrade with an ruu. I notice however that my speeds are a whole lot faster. I monkey rigged pacman onto the new radio anyway haha. but yeah, you can just reroot it if it takes it away.
oh and it adds like some sprint connection optimizer or whatever.

In your opinion is thus update worth It or should we just wait for the future updates? As far as the connection things go what will it update and what does it do with the connectivity? Does it make our data connection faster? Better reception maybe?

In your opiniopinion
Does this mean that our reception will be better and we'll get f as ter data speeds or what does the "optimization " do?

this is an edit.
I DO NOT recommend updating with this 73 mb update. there currently isn't an ruu that is compatible with the updated hboot this gives you. this is causing a lot of clutter around the forums. DO NOT update unless you're fine with not being able to downgrade back.

I did this update and can't restore device with ruu and im not running any rom AKA bricked but ive gotten out of this pickle before with ruu but now i cant any tips?

can you get into recovery at all? I'm not all that experienced with adb but there might be something you could do about it. I'm not exactly sure though.
Sent from my One V using xda premium

I do have a backup but it won't boot how can I retrieve boot.img from it?TW TWRP 2.5

on your computer go to your SD card and go into TWRP folder and find your backup, just click in folders until you get to it. there should be a file called boot.emmc.win rename that one to boot.img then fast boot flash it. make sure not to use the md5 of it though.
Sent from my One V using xda premium

no
sadly i didnt make boot ackup but will it work if i restore then make boot backup?

sadly, probably not. it will just backup whatever kernel you have now. you can download one of the roms that do work with the new radio. I'm gonna try and find one of my boots for you.
Sent from my One V

Do you know any roma that work with new radio?

can anyone figure out the difference between 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 yet? since currently im running cm9, and thats on 4.0.3.. i wonder when google is going to release 4.0.4 into aosp..
Couple of notes here:
You must be on 4.0.2 bootloader, radios, boot partition (kernel), and system or this will failed.
You can use this in both stock and CWM recovery.
You will lose root and will have to reroot afterwords using CWM!

I'm a little confused and was wondering if someone could confirm that it's safe for me to flash this. If I restore my nandroid backup of the stock 4.0.2 rom I have, it's ok to flash this? I have not flashed a different bootloader or radios since I originally unlocked and rooted it. Restoring root and CWM I get also. I'm still a tad newbish with the Nexus so I'm sorry if this question may seem dumb.

[ROM] 6.01.605.05 Stock OTA ROM (6/27/2012)

So after a long wait and a lot of people asking about it. Here is the full 6.01.605.05 Verizon Wireless OTA. Packaged with the new kernel. The only thing that has been done to it is it is rooted, busybox installed and init.d support enabled. This ROM is still odexed and I've uploaded 2 versions.
1 is full stock with all the apps as if you just got it (with the exception of SU being added.
The other has most of the VZW apps removed.
Feel free to use this ROM as you wish. Use it as a base or whatever. There may be add-ons at some point but I'm not promising them

I suppose Big Red too.

Nice - maybe this will help solve the weird shut-down/boot problem my wife's phone just started doing today. I can't stand all that VZW bloat (wish that ICS was out for this phone).
Would you mind breaking GSM support? I don't need it, and I already miss the complaints.

[Q] Help! Totally bricked my SG3 SGH-T999 using Mobile ODIN

I was trying to unroot my TMO SG3 SGH-T999 so I can exchange it under warranty. I was following the instructions here, but using mobile ODIN instead of the Windows version, as I am on a Mac (OS X 10.7.5). I found two ROMs on my external SD - Liquid Smooth JB and the Stock ROM - so I thought, let's try to flash the Liquid Smooth JB just for fun, while I'm at it. When I tried to do this before using CWM Recovery, it would load to the Liquid Smooth JB logo screen then freeze, but I could always restart it and go back to the regular ROM - so I was hoping maybe using Mobile ODIN it would work - this was clearly a bad idea.
It's totally bricked now
I can boot it into Download mode, which looks like

and then
but that's it.
I installed Heimdall after reading some people post in various forums that they were able to recover from similar situations using it, but I can't find a Heimdall firmware package for the SGH-T999.
And ideas? This is really bad ...
Thanks!
You will have to send it in to be repaired.

Bricked generally means black screen no response when plugged in or Power cycled or anything.
As people have already pointed out get a Windows machine or boot camp a Windows partition and flash an image with Odin. There is a bunch in the thread in android development.
Best of luck flashing let us know how you get on.
I laughed hard @ LET ME FLASH THE LIQUID SMOOTH WHILE AT IT
, if your route and goal is to revert back to stock rom then how can u flash liquid smooth while AT IT? makes zero sense since odin is just for stock and i never heard of odin flashing custom roms. And guess what? The warranty people got flash counters so figure out a way to reset your download flash counter or they will find its been tampered with.
Get to a Pc! If you can get to download mode you are definitely not hard bricked. Flash a stock firmware and ur good to go!
This thread is hilarious. Flashing a ROM that you know doesn't work. Good job!
Thanks everyone for the Windows Odin suggestion. Will try it and let you know how it goes.
I was able to restore the stock ROM using CWM, which I had forgotten was on the phone (I had been using Volume Down-Home-Power so much I forgot about Volume Up). All in all not one of my prouder moments, but all's well that ends well.
That said, I would like to know why the Liquid Smooth ROM didn't work, and how I could tell a working ROM from a non-working one before flashing it. I did an md5 and it matched.
Yes @psykhotic, I had trouble with this ROM when using CWM, but when I asked Max Lee of http://galaxys3root.com/ - whose instructions I had followed for rooting my phone and installing the Liquid Smooth ROM - his response made it sound like it could have just been a fluke:
Did you do factory reset when I installing liquid? If u end up in a bootloop u have to do a fresh reinstall then wipe cache simple doing wipe after installing will not solve problems. That is a funky thing that happens but you should make a backup rom so u can easily restore if something goes wrong.

There was also reason to believe it could have been related to CWM, such that a different software for flashing the ROM might have worked (when I say reason to believe, I mean to someone who isn't an expert in flashing ROMs).

Just a little FYI that I have learned when flashing anything that can cause you to brick. Make sure that you rad all the comments and see if others are having issues with flashing. Make sure you download the flash file for your area. Can't flash a us phone with a Chinese phone. You got very lucky from the sounds of it and am glad to hear that you could still boot it.

RADIO INFORMATION:
To upgrade to ZVA radio and use Spark:
1. *Flash this TWRP with Flashify from the Play Store.(See below.)
2. **Flash this ROM, reboot and make sure the ROM boots up. (See below.)
3. Reboot to recovery and flash the ZVA radio. If it flashed without error then you can reboot to the ROM.
*You only need to do this if you do not have the loki'd version of TWRP 2.6.3.3. If you are unsure, follow that step.
**If you are already running the ROM you can skip this step.
More Information:
You DO NOT have to downgrade to the ZV8 radio now to run AOSP based ROMs. To run an AOSP based ROM with the ZVA radio you MUST flash Savoca's or dr87's kernel immediately after you flash the AOSP ROM.
Big thanks to @Savoca @autoprime @garwynn @Shelnutt2 @Dougie2187 for all of their work, links, and infomation with this update.

Also I see LG has yet to remove the Google Shopping app, an app for a service which was shut down before the phone was even released...
Flashed the ROM and it said SuperSU was not installed and asked if it should be, so I hit install SuperSU and got stuck on the LG screen. I was lucky enough to be able to boot into TWRP still
So if I'm not in one of the spark cities but in one of the 4g LTE upgraded cities like in this post:http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-rolls-out-4g-lte-in-more-cities.htm?view_id=7889, will flashing ZVA and this ROM have any added effect?
So is this rom bloat free or are all the Sprint apps still included? I'm asking because I took the ota and then rooted after, but I never made a pure spark backup before I added all my tweaks. If this one still has all the bloat I can just use this as a backup incase KK ever drops, I can ota using this.

Strange issues having after update to android marshmallow.

Recently updated to android 6. After the update 2 major issues i am facing
1.App settings goes to reset after phone restart. Its quite irritating as every time it restart i have to change settings again. Not checked all apps though but in whatsapp, playstore, tapatalk etc
2.Phone always turns off when it comes to 15 - 9 percentage battery level.
If anyone know a fix for this??
Edit 1: My issues has been resolved after one full reset. U guys would try.
Edit 2: Again same issues i am facing some days after full reset. So bad HTC like company pushing so buggy update. Shame.

Do not always ask for a cid only, it can be changed. Model ID is very important too. Basically the output of "fastboot getvar all" will be much more informative in ALL cases.
It tells you all
