Hi.
I am overwhelmed by the amount of ROMs available. But one thing I don't like is theming.
That leads me to an unusual question:
Can you tell me if there are "modded stock ROMs" for the GNex?
No AOKP, no CM, etc.
Clearly a stock ROM which has been modded.

The mmuzzy rom might be worth checking out. Android revolution and modaco rom by Paul Obrien are pretty stock too.

Android revolution HD is THE BEST by FAR !
My GNex runs this ROM with the TW5 and it is flawless !
I also use muzzy's. it's been great - doesn't start to lag over time either.
I tried Android Revolution HD now. Its great for me.
Can you tell me what is the difference between muzzys and Revo HD?
Why are some (?) Roms getting lag over time?

I think the biggest difference is mmuzzy rom is based on aosp and AR is based on stock. Not sure about lag overtime that some people experience.

Just looking to hear what peoples favorite roms are. My brother and I traded phones, he's been using stock and it kept freezing on him. Looking for the best rom for daily use with alot of features
hit me!
I think ice cold sandwich is stable for daily use.

I currently use Ice Cold Sandwich as well and its great. You might want to also try Existz' AOSP in the Inspire forum. If you want a Sense Roms, then Sabsa Prime and Blackout are pretty good.
I am using jelly time r10.1. I have absolutely no issues with it. It is great. I set my DPI to 160, and it fits the phone excellent.

I use the LeeDroid HD v5.1.1. It's a very stable, smooth, and fast rom.

CodefireX. Tons of settings. Love the thread community. Helpful, polite, on-topic. Thread usually very good about updates on stability of the latest nightly.

Best sense rom: Blackout.
Best non sense rom: Ice Cold Sandwich.
Very stable both of them.

I am also finding rom for daily use.
I tried about 20 roms last weekend to find a really stable and all balanced one.
If a rom has many cool feature like newest sense4 but runs laggy. => I won't choose.
If a rom runs super fast and smooth but hotspot not working. => won't choose either.
Here's what I tasted in those 20 roms:
For Jelly Bean:
JellyTime, CodefireX, Unofficial-CM are quite similar. They are all based on CM10.
CodefireX has more tweak function in settings.
But all these rom I got sensor issue.
Accelerometer, magnetic field, orientation sensors are not working for me. (But for some others working great)
So JB rom is still far from stable for me.
For ICS with Sense:
If you want all function working, you can try Nik Project X v4.1. But I feel all sense 4 roms laggy.
If you like a smoother one, you can try Sabsa Bliss v2.0. It's sense 3.6 from Incredible S and suits for DHD, The only bad is wifi hotspot not working.
I think we can have a perfect ICS rom with sense 3.6 in the near future, just looking forward to it
For ICS without sense (AOSP)
IceColdSandwich v8.7 is the best. It's fast, light weight and many tweak settings from AOKP.
If you are not a pefectionism like me...You can choose it.
But I use camera very often. And the Camera in Sense always have better quality than in AOSP.
HTC must do image enhancement in its camera app.
......so...After a long trip to JB and ICS, I go back to GB with sense 3.5 finally......
I choose Runny Xtreme Surprise by XxXPachaXxX.
It's fast enough, many features beyond stock rom, only tiny bugs and good camera
The only bad maybe is it's a GB rom lol...
At last, I still wish HTC will release an official ICS RUU to DHD. Or, at least, an offical kernel source.
Also sabsa blish is very stable but I can't find tweaks for this from.

Hi.. I've been trying the same for weeks .. tried many ROMs but looking for a stable sense 3.6 or 4.0 ROM (ICS). Currently on SABSA PRIME 6.0 .. only issue is its becoming more & more slow with time as I fill it up with apps & stuff .
I actually use camera a LOT so if any 1 can suggest a stable (sense) ROM with "PERFECT" camera .. I wud appreciate that. Doesn't matter if its GB even

IMHO and my experience, every ROM is like that, even stock. Android is like Windows in that regard, more sw you install, slower it gets.... I didn't come to the conclusion if it's because of the widgets or just because of number of installed programs...
Now I need to figure out if I like sense or not I guess. thus far Jelly Bean has been my favorite on my play despite the fact that like half the stuff doesn't work >.< So we'll see...
Thx for all the places to start.

I try xenonhd rom since 2 month and i'm very satisfy. is stable and butter and not bad with battery. fully customize, and dev works hard to upgrade it. now is upgrade to jb 4.1.2
also codename android (CM) like jellysnap i think is good. but i didnt try it.
You really think youll get a single answer to that question? Anyway that someone has somehow tried every rom despite how often they change will probably have a different opinion from the next guy.
Personally I use JBSourcery after starting on cm10, has so many more features it makes cm10 look like stock.
We can tell our favorites, but the best ROM is what's best for YOU. Try all of them and stick with what you enjoyed
That said, I find cm to be most stable if you ask me.
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
What do you folks here think is more stable and fast with performance options? What do you think the most stable ROM is for both? Thanks in advance

I can't help you in ROMs because I always run my own compiled one from AOSP.
4.2 seems fine with me like 4.1 in terms of stability. I haven't run into any major issues that I can think of as a disadvantage of 4.2 actually I really like the toggles of 4.2
Check this thread for some information
From my experience, 4.2.1 Roms are all working really well and you can definitely make the upgrade. My personal favourite is the Paranoid Android rom!
4.1.2 roms are flawless but once you start using 4.2.1 you won't really wanna go back.
The only issue with 4.2 is the custom kernels aren't really that stable. Hope this helps

Actually, I was on 4.2.1 since release, and now I switched back to 4.1.2... I had too many problems with 4.2.1... battery drains, random reboots, freezing. etc
For the moment you better stay on 4.1.2 because the roms are more bugless and it is smoother too I am currently using cm10 an it is in my opinion one of the best with plenty of features and you can always flash the android 4.2.1 gapps like the camera and gmail,... above android 4.1.2
Yeah, I'm on cm10 as well
I think that the most stable CM10. Is very close to the AOSP, but there isn't a stable version both for the 4.1 and 4.2.
After all, the choice of the ROM is very personal. You have to try a lot of Roms and kernels until you are satisfied. It's the only way
I agree. I actually got the phone on 4.2.1 then rooted and been using Roms. Right now I'm on xylon its pretty solid I have just heard there are quicker Roms on 4.1 quick question. Since I am already rooted using a custom ROM all I would have to do is full wipe and flash a4.1 ROM if I decided correct?

My experience on stock kernel was fine. Anyone having issues on stock kernel? I was just saying that most of the time have MOST of the features port up, and they seem to work fine for me. Although maybe some of the butter is gone

No disrespect, but benchmarks don't mean anything... e.g. I've managed to get 2831 on quadrant with a viper ROM + T2 kernel back a few months, but it was laggy as hell, therefore useless. That being said Jellytime is pretty good, and so is Mustas unofficial CM10.1 (which I'm running for a few months back), but this one ROM says that it is good for games, which is what you asked for.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339506 (It's not the real Oxy, it's just called that, but by another dev) It's basically a cleaned up version of jellytime. It seems to be one of the lightest JB ROMs

for me, the 2.3 roms are the most stable. Also, if you're going to look at the rankings, most sites contain 2.3 roms. CM7 has more development. And, you can just install JB theme.

yeah, but also because 4.x.x roms offer more options and with some devices the RAM usage is better.

I know, I just guessed it. Maybe check your battery stats to find out whats draining your battery?
I always go back to CM 7.2 or rarely , CM 7.2 based roms , like JellyBread for example if you want a taste of JB. I just like all the speed i can get and functionality , i don`t care about anything else like gaming / eye candy and stuff like that.
