Hi guys
I recently got hold of a Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, and i have to say im rather dissapointed.
The lag issue, which none of the lag fixes really actually stop, is so annoying, GPS not working as im one of the unfortunate people who have this issue is another annoyance
The screen is fantastic however, and the music player is aweseome with its equilizer.
However i use my phone for numerous things, media is one thing, GPS also as i dont see the need to buy a seperate sat nav when my phone "should have it",
Now i am going to wait until the official Froyo release from samsung before making any decision.
Right stop my moaning and here are my questions
i have been offered in exchange a sim Free Desire, plus a 16gb Class 6 sdcard, all boxed.
The one thing that worries me about going down the Desire route is how long is this handset gonna last.
Looking at benchmarks the i9000 creams the desire (with lag fix) in pretty much everything, i know this is down to the pretty poor Adreno 200 GPU on snapdragon as linpack shows the snapdragon FPU is better, Quadrant over 2200 currently on my SGS
in gaming terms for the future how long is this gonna last? can i expect games that are released in 6 months from now to run flawlessly? i know its hard for people to see into the future! but NEed for speed seems to run pretty much identically to my SGS, so im wondering if its all down to optimization on both chipsets
also gingerbread? a definate yes? or have HTC still not announced if Desire will be getting it
Samsung wont give any answers on this whatsoever
Also what would you guys do?
The samsung guys say "stay with it" but i want opinions from both camps

You are on the same point I was a few weeks ago, well I wasn't offered in exchange by someone but the store owner offered to change it for me. Honestly, I'd say go for it. Samsung's software is crap, Desire has a lot better development community. Not to mention you get HTC Sense. Now one warning, Desire doesn't got true multi-touch, it got pinch support but thats about as far as the multi-touch goes. I tired playing Real Football 2010 with a Desire and it was a crap experience. People have reported Quadrant benchmarks of almost 1800 via OCed kernel and custom ROMs, if you really want to get down to that point but honestly it doesn't make a difference.
And HTC still hasn't announced if Desire is getting Gingerbread but there is a good chance the ROM community will be able to get it running. Plus Samsung still hasn't released Froyo, so I don't see a bright future of Gingerbread coming from them.
Now, GPS on Desire is damn good. It works as good as my 2 year old satnav if not better(It usually gets the fix better, I gave my satnav away ).
Honestly the handset has a good life-time to last, HTC Hero is still doing pretty good so Desire should do good as well was another year or more. Even if HTC may drop the support we have people here giving new life to the device.
My opinion: go for it! Desire is a great phone / smartphone.
The more I use it, the better it is.
Make sure you do a hard reset when you get it...
im seriously 50/50 on this, and now my time frame has been shortened, my mate wants to know by tomorrow otherwise he is ebaying it (mates eh!?)
Benchmarks are not the be all and end all, its bragging rights i suppose.
one thing that is seriously tipping me back to HTC is the support and community development, Samsungs own support is utterly awful, Kies is the worst piece of software i have ever ever used, and no OTA?! what the hell is that about.
As for HTC back in the day when i had my hero, ok there was delays but at least they kept people in the loop, one of my biggest annoyences is not being advised anything from samsung other than "we are working on it"
i dont hold out anyfaith that the filesystem will be sorted out with froyo, i mean it says alot when the XDA guys can fix it, but Samsung dont seem to even ackowledge the fact the software is naff!

No, it doesn't got true multi-touch. If the x1 intersects with y2 or x2 with y1 it goes haywire. It doesn't have gorilla glass either. But the community of HTC Desire is far better than Galaxy S from my experience, we don't have to use Kies or similar crap either(It was a PITA to get Kies to even recognize my phone, took me well over 4 hours and a lot of headaches), we got OTA! .

Glad you share my view on Kies, i honestly have never had such issues flashing a firmware, at least with Odin it did what it says on the tin
ok well im pushing more towards the desire, i just HOPE that its as much as an enjoyable process playing PSX games on psx4droid as it is on the Galaxy S, i do alot of travelling and i spend most of that time on trains playing FF7
If you want to do gaming stick with the galaxy s the desire isn't very good for that. Maybe 2.2 for the galaxy s will resolve your issues. I love the desire its a great phone but its horrible for gaming.

it all depends how much more powerfull the new version of adreno is, obviously developers are still going to develop games for the arm cpu and adreno inparticular, imo i think our gpu will be able to play the games developed for newer versions of adreno but maybe not flawlessly .............. as far as gingerbread goes, the desire will never get it officially as htc are more intrested in supporting what will be then there current generation of devices, but as the desire and n1 are almost identical, and the n1 being googles official developer device, they are sure to get gingerbread, so we maybe we will be the first device to get working custom roms

I never thought of it like that actually regarding future android updates, basically the N1 is the same hardware as the desire, just lacking a little bit of Ram i believe, so shouldnt be too difficult to port over a rom
you sir have just tipped the scales again!
If you care about gaming stick with SGS..devs are even stopping games for desire ( see n.o.v.a) due to the multitouch bug and the the GPU isn't even remotely close to sgs's..Desire's 720p is a big pile of disappointment as well,no matter what rom you try..
other than that it is a fantastic phone...also unique feel as you hold it in your palm..its ergonomy is amazing, even ip4 doesn't sit as well in the hand as desire does..
Your right about the iPhone 4 it is a pain to hold now lol (not about the signal "issue") the edges are Sharp.

I have a Desire & my friend has a Galaxy S.
I would say the Samsung has a better screen. However:
The Desire is a better over all device, software wise and build quality wise. Oh and it has more ram.
However, if gaming is a serious thing for you, I suggest you stay with the Samsung because they really do have the most powerful mobile GPU.

In respects to gaming its not gaming as such, i mean angry birds beta from the market, any gpu should play that, im more bothered about PSX emulation at this point, my sgs is superb with psx4droid, where as the videos i have seen on youtube dont say the same story with desire, however these are based on the early versions of the app,

Don't worry about that...psx4droid does not yet support hardware acceleration so all graphics are rendered from the CPU , not the GPU...so they should play it equaly well..well runs fine on my desire..and also i had an hd2 before and used fpsece which supported(and still does) hw acceleration..and run great on hd2 (has snapdragon chip, same as htc desire)..could get 40+fps on tekken 3...which is brillian (does not even run in psx4droid)..

Also had a hd2 and it was excellent, just a pitty about winmo 6.5, do you know if there are any plans for GPU acceleration to be implemented for android?

i think we have crappy drivers for our gpu too, the acer liquid has the same gpu but with a cpu that runs at a lower clockspeed, but apparently the 3d rendering on that device surpasses our device

thats my point!! they have the same gpu running with a 768mhz cpu, and there gpu can do 3D better than ours, read this thread started about overclocking our gpu.....

I'm on T-Mobile USA and these two devices are both coming out next month. I've had (and loved) Android since the HTC Magic came out last year. I love the MyTouch for it's FFC and the newest gen procs. However, I'm pretty drawn to the HD7 for it's new OS and large SLCD, however disappointed in lack of FFC (regardless of how little I would realistically use it), and it's first gen procs. It's got the same "guts" as my N1, but it's runs so well from the demos I've seen this week.
Anyone else out there with the same dilemma? Which is better?

I am in the same boat as you. I have a nexus one and have loved it, but I am really liking WP7 so far. I believe that with such high minimum specs, the OS will see some nice apps and games in the near future.
I am about 90% sure that I am going to switch, I just have to decide between the HD7 and the Dell pro slide phone.
according to a couple sources the hd7 uses the msm8250 which has the adreno 205 gpu on it. same one as the g2.

Ya the XBL game demos were nice. This and the Zune integration is what draws me to the platform. Since I have an N1 now I haven't been too concerned about updates, however MS will be starting on top of all that is great.
As far as the Dell; I love everything about it especially the gorilla glass, it's just that KB doesn't look like it's worth the added weight and thickness to the phone. However I saw a sign of a FFC on the Dell unbranded VP so that could be interesting.

Someone contacted HTC asking what processor, and was told the MSM processor, though, Microsofts webpage states QSD8250.
Someone else contacted HTC about the screen, and was told it had a standard TFT screen (Slashgear also states this).
At the end of the day, whether or not the myTouch will have a superior CPU doesn't matter by the fact that it runs android, games are written to be compatible with low end android sets, meaning if the myTouch had a tegra, games would still look crap.
The Galaxy S is a good example. It's GPU pushes about 80million triangles per sec, compare this with iPhone4's 28million.... now show me ANY game on Android that looks better than that on iOS? And the thing is I highly doubt there are much, if any, games on iOS that use half of its power. (Epic citadel and an upcoming iOS game called Aralon shows off what the 3GS/iPhone4/iPad can do. Not sure how much triangles/poylgons its pushing tho).
The Adreno200 pushes about 22million, which isn't a big difference compared with the iPhone, so games would be comparable.
There is a rumour that Android 3.0 will bring in minimum hardware requirements to reduce fragmentation, we'll see.

Very true, while I like to think of myself as an HTC/Android fanboy, however I always have to lend Android its faults. Gaming and media are huge and Android more or less fails in these areas. Games are horrid, though Angry Birds is always fun. Games just don't look finished or just look like the crappy 2005 Java versions on like a Moto RAZR. In fact, looking at my apps on my N1, almost all of them are apps just to make my phone run smoother or look better ie setCPU, LCD density changer, ASTRO, Ti Backup etc. That's not to say I don't like games, it's just that there's not too great of a collection when you compare to iOS or the upcoming games for WP7.
And if the HD7 has the G2's proc and an SLCD screen like the Desire HD, it will be even more amazing in my eyes. All I'd want is HSPA+, however, that part is MS's fault.

The only concerns I have with the dell is the keyboard quality and thickness. I would have to hold the unit and play around with it first. I really hope that the Hd7 has the updated processor, but I really doubt it will.
All will be revealed soon though.
Same issue with me, I have loved Android for a while now, however WP7 looks so attractive, HSPA+ is not an issue because:
1. My area doesn't have HSPA+
2. T-Mobile states that all devices running standard 3g will also notice a significant improvement to their speeds as well, which is great as well
Really I made up my mind on the HD7, I saw the apps on the zune market and a lot of em weren't that great, however I know I have to wait... I see though that the WP7 marketplace has increased in apps, so I think I might just get the HD7, or try both devices.
I would go with the HD7. Try something new and the games are WP7 are fantastic.
It definitely has its shortcomings, but the most important ones are coming.
I purchased one from my local uk currys yesterday and have used it quite a bit since and I I have to say since i am very dissapointed,
The Bad
web browsing is slow and laggy as the pages do not load totally e.g the page loads as your scrolling down even after waiting,
flash video playback in browser often crashes the tab causing it to restart itself, camera is bad in low light conditions,
you cant exit apps properly as even if you select to exit in the apps menu they stay in the multitask panel running in background (unless you go in and stop them with the honeycomb built in task killer),
gameplay is not toally smooth on the game I have tested (nova 2) it plays relatively smooth however seems to pause slightly at times like a frame skip[edit since last archos update it force closes even after reinstall], i also tried n64oid which was slow loading and the on screen controller froze,
angry birds loads but the screen image is not smooth as the pixels have been stretched however plays well (i couldnt care less about angry birds anyway but it just shows that the screen resizing can cause graphics issues.
I have issues with moon reader ebook reader as it does not want to only change page when i swype as soon as it gets to the next chaper page it will only skip chapters
The Good
media playback with files loaded on the device is good they play back smoothly through the hdmi and I had no trouble with the files I put on it.
youtube app playback is looks good.
screen quality is nice very vibrant colours etc
battery life is good.
the stand is useful
honeycomb is much more user intuitive than any before it
wifi signal isnt too bad in the room next to the rooter I get over half.
the issue I have is that my herotab c8 is faster for browsing web pages doesnt seem to lag, very rarely restarts itself and can view flash in browser without crashing my tablet, also I can root it and install chainfire which means gameplay is brilliant when playing nova 2 (better than archos tablet however colours etc are a little washed out compared to archos ) I can remove my memory card from its external slot and change it for a different one and it instantly reads the new one unlike the archos where I cannot even see the card in folders.
if im missing something that has hampered my experience please advise as I am giving this to the end of the week and will more than likely return it if it stays like this.

Yeah I did the same, the amount of FC was upsetting. The sound card (from what i've read) is pressed in to the back of the screen and any slight pressure creates the ripple on the screen. Not bad for the money, but not great
i dont believe i have the screen defect but all the other problems are beginning to be frustrating, because of the specs i dont know whether to return it as if they implement the specs and features properly in future firmware updates this should be a great tablet, although someone said on another post that they dont have the lag or freezes or automatic rebooting or game issues that i have listed above so im sort of wondering if my device is defective.
edit i also find that it wont output the image properly to a 32 inch 720p tv as as the tv tries to play as 1080p but cant and the tablet nor the tv have options to change this
Had a bit of screen lag, not no more than my Desire HD, so cant really complain too much about it.
I thinking about sending it back but its shipped from France, and that gonna be expensive.
Yeah the screen defect is what swayed it for me, if that goes out of warranty im stuffed!
The only thing I can complain about is the screen defect, that in my opinion is bareable... for the web browsing experience, all you have to do is install Opera Mobile from the market and that problem is solved... about the "lag", change launcher and go for ADW EX, with that it's fast as a rocket... apps stay "open" after you close them because that's how Honeycomb works, it keeps stuff in the background so that they can open up faster next time. Overall It's actually a pretty good tablet, it's not perfect and yes it's very "delicate" software wise, but once you get used to how you treat it, all is fine... remember It's an incredibly cheap tablet with all the functionalities of the most expensive...

same for me!
My brother has the archos 80 g9 16GB turbo version and it runs perfectly no lag no force closes or anything and games run great aswell and videos run smooth and the screen is brilliant only a little problem from pressure on the back of the screen but it is a tiny area and 99% of the time not visible so not a problem.
but my dad bought the 80 g9 250GB turbo version which the only problem is the hard drive is slow and it crashes a bit too often and its now crashed and wont boot past the unlock screen and the screen wont respond so ive got to see if i can fix that now but the flash version of the tablet i think is brilliant especially for the price

I'm about to buy the archos g9 250GB but I searched here at XDA to know more about this tablet and to see if the HDD version is good and fast enough... and I can see here that the fastest and most stable version of this tablet is the archos g9 10GB Turbo... but this one is expensive in Israel (About 425$) than the 8GB version (About 337$)! But the 8GB version has the ARM Cortex A9 1.0GHz Dual Core while the 16GB turbo have 1.2GHz Turbo version: OMAP™ 4 smart multi-core ARM CORTEX A9...
So I want to know which one is the best for my Dad, He just need a simple tablet to surf the web sometimes, watch Videos on the web (Flash players) etc... so the 250GB HDD could be a "nice to have" feature, but if it's to slow, Then I prefer the 8GB version...
and as I mentioned the "Turbo" is expensive here... so which one it's gonna be? the 8GB or the 250GB?

Hi Avi,
I bought this tablet (Turbo 16G version) for my wife a week ago.
Actually AFAIK the Turbo version sold here (in Israel) is just an overclocked version of the non-turbo, since the real turbo version should be 1.5Ghz and have a different processor model.
Anyhow, the web browsing is fine, but beware that Flash works really bad on it.
I don't know if it works well on other tablets or not, but on this one it will freeze constantly during play.
Also I tried Mako VOD/Hot VOD apps and though they run, they won't play any video (except an occasional commercial now & then), but I don't know if it's because of this specific tablet, or because of the Flash issue.
Youtube apps works well, and so does streaming files from other computers.

And about flash players - I test flash players and flash based Websites on my Samsung galaxy S2 and my friend's Motorola XOOM
and all flash players worked great, specially the JWplayer and the JustinTV players...
about Mako and other Israeli VOD sites, most of them are not in real flash, the players are flash Based UI, but the actual Video is WMV and not even FLV or MP4... so they won't work on android devices, but there are Dedicated applications for Mako on the Android market... try it...

Ok guys, never mind, I bought the Asus transformer eventually... I checked that Archos, and it's a Cute tablet, but the quality is mid range, and yes, sadly the one that I wanted purchase was with that known screen defect!

I have had same lag randomly on older 80g9 8gb & new 80g9 16gb 1.5ghz turbo.
what is causing this? I've been using Perfect Keyboard app and love it but wonder if its the issue

That kinda sucks that its not the keyboard app. getting other keyboards active is more of a pain on these, I can't remember exact procedure but keep messing with settings and you'll get it.
try Perfect Keyboard app from market, it takes a while to get used to & adjust but for a free app its very nice, I had mine tuned and comfortable to work within a week and I can't stand any other now, I'm typing mostly with thumbs on split landscape w #pad in middle and cool arrow keys at bottom that are like a mouse for cursor positioning

Since its not a big brand name here I cannot sell my archos g9. I'm getting the transformer prime and dock when they show up in stores here. I want to try it before I buy.

I wouldn't say it's a piece of junk..but the first one crapped out on me, the cheap usb charger connectors that are only loosely soldered onto the mother board probably broke, got an RMA replacement, had it for a month or so, and the stupid damn 2 foot cord is so short, the tablet gets knocked off of things so easily that it broke the usb connector right out after a 3 foot drop. Pissed me off :/
I plan to buy xperia play possibly this week or next month.
But im afraid there will be a new xperia play coming soon with higher specs.
Or there will be no xperia play 2?
I doubt it though because there already a quad core phones in the market

I'm thinking xperia play 2 is 6 months to 1 year away. If you can wait that long for a new phone, then I would. Otherwise you'll get major phone envy when a new one comes out and you aren't due for an upgrade for another year past that.

S4pro chipset would be best, dualcore krait with adreno 320. However i think it will probably be standard S4.

im currently using an xperia mini pro and the specs are nearly the same as play except it has smaller screen. i noticed there are many android games lag on my mini pro therefore so does the play correct?
so my point is, should i wait for a new play comes out probably a dual core processor is enought at least ir should i just buy it cos there will be no xperia play 2 this year at least???

Well, my new phone is dual-core and a lot of games perform just the same as on the play. Some are even worse. I think it depends heavily on the developers and the game itself.
The problem is that Android games in general aren't written in a very efficient way, and aren't optimized well for a wide enough range of phones. Some games run better on Qualcomm, some better on Samsung chips.. Nothing seems to be optimized across the board from what I've seen.

If they're smart, they won't touch the resolution, because they should be keen enough to figure out that changing the resolution would compromise and sacrifice from the 300+ games Xperia Play already has under it's belt.
With Xperia Play already running everything buttery-smooth on it's 1GHz snapdragon, dual-core/quad-core isn't really necessary... but we all know that media outlets will assure it's publicly DOA with idiotic conjectures about how it'll be behind the curve at launch if they don't (if only the general public could see how well Xperia Play keeps up with the *beasts* like SGS2 in Android's highest-end games)... so might as well slam a spec-whore processor in there to shut them up.
Doubling or quadrupling the RAM wouldn't hurt as long as they keep their focus on quality over quantity as highly as they did by choosing the ELPIDA chip they chose this time around, and doing something about that absolutely puny internal storage would definitely aid us in the combat against Gameloft's phone storage-whoring bastards.
Otherwise, nothing should change. Bump up what needs to be bumped up without compromising what they've established.

It would be interesting if they did a retina display-esque exact double of the current resolution though
The display should be 720p at least, yes, it will probably break a few games, but the benefits far outweigh the cost, most of those apps will be updated for 720p, or should have been written in a way to upscale to begin with. Hardware will likely be S4 or S4pro from what I can see from Sony so far and would be a good choice in keeping compatibility with current titles.
TLR whilst your steadfast resolve in defence of the plays specs is very admirable, and I would echo them myself on occasion, updating the plays specs is a must, Sony themselves have said that they had to do a lot of rework on ics to run on phones with such low ram, whilst the play might be able to run current gen games fine, it wont have a chance at many future upcoming titles, ive played gta3 on a sgs2, ...whilst the controls are terrible, theres a massive difference in overall performance.
Most of these games run well on the play to begin with because they were built with the sgs/xplay 1ghz single core cpu/gpu in mind, because they comprise a large portion of the market, that wont be the case in 6 months, soon these phones will be relegated to the low end, and just like pcs, your phone will be too obsolete to run the current games. I havent seen any games made yet that really push the sgs2 or even higher end phones to anywhere near their potential.
Also, i would be quite happy to see the occasional lag and force kills of running apps disappear. I do agree that they need to continue the good work they have done so far, the form factor and controls are good, expandable memory, removable battery, all that jaz, all I could really ask for is proper analog sticks and larger/better positioned volume up/down for gaming doubleduty.

I was going to buy this tablet soon but I just found out about the Tegra 4 CPU.
It is supposed to have better performance than SnapDragon S4 CPU which the Nexus 7 flo tablet has.
Do you think I should wait until a 7 inch Tegra 4 Tablet comes onto the market or should I buy the Nexus 7 now?

Kindle Fire HD 2 will supposedly have the Snapdragon 800. The Nexus will have more development support including kernels to overclock the CPU to 2GHz+.

Tegra 4 and SD 800 are just days to a few months away. They have the potential to be awesome.
That said this S4 is more of a SD 600 than a S4 and as you can see from the Dev section, can be clocked to 2.1 or possibly even 2.3 GHz. The GPU can also be OCed to 487. This machine will give all a user needs if they like the 7 inch form factor at a very reasonable price.
Also while the SD 800 is awesome to unlock it past the potential already achieved by the Devs on this one will take a good Dev on that device. So
Honestly as a user, if you like a 7 inch tablet this is the one for this year IMHO. But if your a tech geek like me well... I like to buy them all lol.

I'm thinking that I should just get this tab and be happy with it for a year or more. I mean the most intensive game I play is Riptide GP2, and my Nexus 4 runs that fine on stock with high settings. I will also be doing some emulation on it, but if my Nexus 4 can run it, the Nexus 7 will be able to even better
2.3 GHz is insane for a mobile device that is $230. But since money is pretty tight for me maybe a $230 tablet is probably all I will be able to afford. And about the Kindle Fire, those have always been bad for development and I like to have root and custom roms, and stuff.
So I think this will be the tablet that I'm going to get.

Kindle community's for me is meh. But if nook follows in the steps of kindle well then that could be an inexpensive toy with some real nice specs after root and rom.
Never trust nVidia's promises or even their benchmarks. Their chips ALWAYS look killer on paper, but they are almost always very buggy and don't work the way nVidia claims they should. Check out every Tegra device made, short of the Nexus 7. Updates very rarely came, and when they did they were buggy and crappy. Even the Nexus 7 on 4.2 was a step backwards in terms of battery, speed, usability, etc. I won't touch another Tegra device until they prove otherwise.
The SnapDragon 800, on the other hand, while yes, it will be faster than the new N7, I don't believe will make its way into many 7" devices. Its just not necessary. The CPU isn't much faster than the current 600. Its main claim to fame will be its GPU. And 10"+ tablets and devices will begin having 4K resolution screens shortly, IMHO, where that will be needed. SnapDragon 800 in a ChromeBook would be fantastic as well.

the Tegra 4 SoC do not support OpenGL ES 3.0 fully.
If you want to enjoy AAA games or apps in the near future you might not be able to do so.
Also most of the recent Tegra SoC had bad sound quality through headphones and tend to overheat.

You will not need anything more powerful then this device for a long while. This CPU/GPU are overkill as it is for any Android game made today.

However, we don't know what KeyLimePie will bring this fall. What is overkill now may be barely cutting it on a new OS.
i use to be all about tegra myself but tegra is not all that good. battery life is horrible and there are heat issues, the htc one x i had got pretty freaking hot. i wanted a tegra 4 tablet like the new toshiba excite but for $480<==F that. i already spent $400 for preordering my ps4 so im not gonna spend that kind of money on a tablet. Nexus 7 is perfect and lightweight. its $270 i can run android games and emulators. with a rooted nexus 7 you can bluetooth a ps3 controller to it for those games and emulators. plus it runs the default android OS which is the best OS out there. The nexus 7 will have a lot more support from devs for kernels, roms, mods, etc...... Seriously buy a nexus 7 and with the money, give it a nice case. kernels for this device can OC the cpu/gpu as well.

No, I don't THINK that will happen, but let's be honest. 95% of devices won't get KLP anyways. I'm not saying it wont run it, just that the overkill may not be overkill in 5 months. History says otherwise, but look at apple updates. Sometimes the new releases run like crap on older devices.

WOW!!!! Apparently you've never heard of or seen the Asus Infinity (10.1" with Tegra 3)!!!! I don't know what you mean about "updates very rarely came". Asus was amongst the first, if not the first, to release 4.2 on the Infinity!! Buggy? Not at alll!!! Games look and play amazing on it!! Has a mini HDMI port on the side of the tablet for connecting it up to a TV. I've played many games for many hours with my Infinity connected to my TV, and using a PS3 controller and the Sixaxis app. Never an issue or hiccup of any kind what so ever!! It also has the best looking display on ANY device in my opinion!
Before dogging all Tegra devices, you REALLY need some hands on experience with them!!!

I assure you, I have PLENTY of Tegra device experience. Moto Xoom, LG G2x, Nexus 7, Droid X2, HTC One X+, development in general for all devices. Believe me when I say, nVidia says things work one way, and more often than not, they don't. They require a LOT of extra development workarounds and time to optimize and get them to behave acceptably. I have a feeling that Asus benefited from the Google relationship with the Nexus 7 being a Tegra 3 and applied that knowledge to the rest of their devices. If Asus was willing to spend the time and engineering brains to figure out all those work arounds, kudos to them. Most other manufacturers were not. Even things that are EASY to develop for barely get Android updates, and if theres any sign of it not working right, they just throw in the towel.
The original Nexus 7 worked well, and I'm not saying your Asus tablet doesn't, but the vast majority of nVidia powered devices are not good in the long run.

Tegra Devices in general are just bleh. Video play back always seems lacking. /shrug
Asus will only update their devices once. maybe twice. That isn't support. They only do that as they have a "Life cycle" of their devices. Once reached. Its end of line.
Best display? Lol you lost me there.
The Tegra 4's CPU is equal or better than the SD 800. The Tegra 4's GPU is also equal or better than the Adreno 330.
For those saying that the battery life is horrible - what are you smoking? One of the things the Tegra 3 was lauded for was battery life. Anandtech recorded 18 HOURS of video playback with the Tegra 4 - not even the iPad could touch that.
IMO, the Tegra 4 is a premium SoC. If you really want the latest and greatest, wait for the Tegra 4. Otherwise, the N7v2 will do just fine.
Don't kid yourselves into thinking the Tegra 4 is horrible though...
