Hello,
I read around the forum about modding the official SecMms app to edit smileys' syntax...There's plenty of information around on how to change the aliases; what I'm actually wondering about is: can I ADD aliases for existing smileys, instead of changing the default values in the "default_smiley_texts" string list of SecMms' array.xml file?
For example: the default value for "Happy" is ": - )" ... can I break something by adding a shorter syntax for it , ": )" , leaving the original one in as well? This way, the app would visualize as graphic smileys both the ones I write in my own syntax and the official ones.
Has anyone tried this?Would it work?
Thanks in advance...

Facepalm about what?
Yes, his post might be in the wrong forum section, but his question is not at all "stupid" or anything.

There are more files than that!
- framework-res.apk
- settings.apk
- systemUI.apk
- android.policy.jar
- framework.jar
You must decompile / recompile, modify a lot of data, have some files in conjunction with others and I forget again ... this is really hard ... seriously, if you do not know what, he returns, I advise you to learn a max before.

Right you will just have to match the hex codes with what you want to change

Hello,
I Look for a mod that disable the auto convert big sms to a mms message.
Its a very important to me.
Galaxy s3 - i9300.
Thank you !!
Up.
I'm interesting for a mod like this.
If it was possible to have a sms mod with the autoconvert disable, unlimited contact and sent times, it would be great.
help !

Sum Roms have this feature included so it is possible, search through the roms section & maybe you can ask the dev for help or if not jump onto there rom instead?
Hope this helps if so press the thanks button
If u are rooted, then u could just use a root explorer and open the CSC file, go to features and then edit a line about the conversion ans set it to false
Cheers!

In system/csc/
you have either "features.xml" or "others.xml".
Edit with text editor and set permissions afterwards. (-rw-r--r--)-(644)
Add the following lines:
<CscFeature_Message_DisableSmsToMmsConversionByTextInput>TRUE</CscFeature_Message_DisableSmsToMmsConversionByTextInput>
Reboot.

Afther instalion i've try to replace the SecMmS.apk, then rebooted, but every time I open sms it stops/frezes and shuts sms down.
Should I do something diferent?
I'm with Stock XXELLA on S III International.

hi, I did try this apk in my phone S III International, by replacing the original one and even by intaling it, and noting happens, still changes to mms as the end of third SMS and doesn't allow to add more than 10 contacts.
Are you sure this is for Galaxy S III.
Please help.

For me works both. The apk and the xml
Hi,
I'm trying to learn to edit the secmms.apk file of TW Note 2 ROM. But, this being the first time, i couldn't find any guides or threads to help me on this.
I have decompiled the apk file and now i'm stuck as i couldn't understand what files mean what.
Could you please help me point to the correct path?
thanks for your help..
If you don't know where to go, how you can find path
First decide what changes you want to make on secmms. then search on XDA suppose you like to stop SMS to MMS conversion then search for same, you will find result and make changes accordingly.
This is way to learn and keep it on..

I know what i want to change.
It's not much. I just would like to change the background and making alterations in the bubble styles along with their contact photos for every sms like in AOSP SMS app
But, the problem is, first i couldn't find the normal res folder which contains all the layouts as in other apk files.
So, i'm lost as in where to find the XML files which has to be modded.
I searched the forum but, i'm not able t find one for modding TW's secmms file.
Could you please point me somewhere? I badly need this.
Have you deodexed secmms.apk?

Hiya,
I've been searching all over and everyone's solutions are to use the 24 hour clock, or a app that removes it.
I'm in the process of making a rom and that am/pm gets in my way..
I want to edit the XML to remove it, not a work around.
Does anyone know a tutorial or what line to edit for 4.1.2?

There is a couple options here..
Option#1: Find where it is in the smali and edit the const... HINT HINT com/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/Clock.smali
Option#2: Edit the string in /values folder where it says:
Code:
<string name="am">AM</string>
<string name="pm">PM</string>
Not sure how that will work.. but worth a shot..
Let me know if how it works out..:good:
