[Q]Remove AM/PM from status bar clock - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hiya,
I've been searching all over and everyone's solutions are to use the 24 hour clock, or a app that removes it.
I'm in the process of making a rom and that am/pm gets in my way..
I want to edit the XML to remove it, not a work around.
Does anyone know a tutorial or what line to edit for 4.1.2?

There is a couple options here..
Option#1: Find where it is in the smali and edit the const... HINT HINT com/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/Clock.smali
Option#2: Edit the string in /values folder where it says:
Code:
<string name="am">AM</string>
<string name="pm">PM</string>
Not sure how that will work.. but worth a shot..
Let me know if how it works out..:good:

[BOUNTY] black text in notifcation bar.

Hello All
I've helped a few people on here and am now in need of help myself.
I am slowly getting my phone to look like Froyo AOSP.
Vibrant guys have this mastered but over here its not a big deal.
The part I'm suck on is getting Black text in notification bar.
If anyone knows how to do this I can upload my framework and service.jar.
Only rewards I can offer if repairing you phone for free or dishing out software.
link to my framework and service.

Dont have time on me but give this a shot :
get apk manager
Take framework-res.apk
Decompile it
Look inside res/layout/
All the status_bar files will give you what you want (start with status_bar.xml)
Modify its color value, its in hex.
Select recompile
Say yes to system, say yes to keep
Only delete resources.arsc
Then push unsigned framework res to phone.

Ok got it working here pretty easily.
Those instructions work fine. Only thing different is you have to look for
const/4 v7, -0x1
in StatusBarIcon.smali
and replace with
const/high16 v7, -0x100
All previous instructions follow.
If you get latest apk manager (still in testing), link
It does jar's as well. So here are exact steps i did. If ur unable to do them then i will do them for you but id like u 2 learn
Download that.
Extract it. Run Script.bat
It'll say an update is found let it do its thing.
Put services.jar in modding folder
select it
decompile it
Do the modification i said in previous post
Choose the heap option in the script and set it to 512
Recompile
Then just push .jar to appropriate folder.
Done.
Could I be cheeky and ask you to edit the ones I posted just so I have them encase I can't.
Will try tho as like to do things myself thus having my own deodexed rom and all my lil extras.

Fyi i had to download a deodexed jpy dump and edit that one because urs was themed (incorrectly) hence apktool complained about undefined symbols and wouldn't compile.
So w/e theme u had before u will have to reapply / transfer the images into this new framework-res.

Rotating touchwiz?

So, after a few searches, both on Google and on the forums, I cannot find this mod.
Does anyone know of a stock touchwiz launcher, modified to rotate?
I hate it when my phone is in landscape on the table or something, and I have to work with a portrait launcher. But I like the stock touchwiz, and would like to keep it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, it is a pretty neat app.
The only problem is I lose a row of apps on my drawer.
Also, but this is just nitpicking, I don't really like the icon on my status bar.
But if there's nothing else, I'll stick with this. So thanks!

Right, there's a bit of the top showing though, and I can still open the app.
Except for the one in the middle, because the page indicator is right there.
I would still prefer a modified launcher though.
But I'm using this until, hopefully, someday a modded touchwiz appears on the scene.
I remember I had one on my Galaxy s 4g.

How are you at custom work. In your framework-res.apk. decompile. Find /res/values/bools.XML. change "config_allowAllRotations" to true
Change "enableLockScreenRotation" to true.
Save recompile install. Enjoy

Well, I'm a noob at decompiling.
So what I did was change the extension from framework-res.apk to .zip, and extract it.
In the /res/ folder there is no /values folder.
I've been searching for a bools.xml folder, but no luck.
Is this something that will only show by decompiling?
Or is the GN2 framework diferent from the GS3 one?
TIA
That would work to edit images. You need to use apktool (search it ) to decompile the file before you can edit those values. I will be home in about an hour if you can find somewhere to upload it i can take a look. However i believe if you look up apktool it will be pretty easy to do yourself. Just dont forgot to make a backup in case something goes off

Thanks for all your trouble.
However, I got the file on your first link, renamed it to framework-res.apk, and copied it to system/framework.
As I started to get a lot of force closes, I did a reboot.
This resulted in an endless boot loop, which forced me to pull my battery, get into recovery, and restore my system.
So back to the drawing board, I guess.
I still appreciate all your help. Thanks for using your time to help a stranger.

I'm uploading a zip to replace the modded with the original. Try installing from recovery and if that still boot loops try fixing permissions. Only thing i changed was the bools.XML

So, you're saying flash the the zip on the second link in your previous post.
And if that goes wrong, flash the zip on this latest post?

Funny I'm just headed out to work. The first post has a zip to install screen rotating. The second post is your unmodified original framework so when you try the modified again. if it does not work, you can replace with the original file from the second post instead of having to wait through a full reset
That does seem odd. Maybe it's the flashable file. It was for my gs3. I've replaced them with the update scripts from a Galaxy note 2 package. They are the same download links as before. I verified that it is the modified file there. Was there any error? Did you verify that it actually copied the file? Easiest to tell by looking at the date it was modified. Its really not that great of a mod anyway. The constant rotation gets annoying and this method doesn't give a toggle. Still try the new zips and see if that makes the difference

It was a little more difficult to get the notification background to change, still nothing hard (vokal changed the background to a colour reference, so I had to modify the reference to be directed to a resource, that's why even by modifing the resources the status bar didn't change).

Hey guays, I´ve been reading this thread and I have also tried to make my own SystemUI with transparent statusbar like in KitKat but without success (a lot of compiling errors).
Could some of you make it for people like me that would like to have it transparent? Thank you anyways :highfive:

This is what you should do:
- decompile SystemUI.apk
- under layout folder, find status_bar_tracking.xml and open it (I suggest you to use Notepad ++)
- now, under .CloseDragHandle, find the background attribute (android:background) and change the value to match your preferences (value is aarrbbgg - alpha, red, blue, and green)
- save and rebuild it
- now, open the modified and the untouched SystemUI.apk with WinRar (or another .zip manager)
- take from layout folder of the modified one status_bar_tracking.xml
- then, under the untouched one, replace status_bar_tracking.xml with the one you've just taken from the modified SystemUI.apk
And that's it, replace it under /system/app and the job is done
