Is there any browser out there that will allow me to watch flash on my S3 other than the stock browser? I am trying to watch streaming sports events that no longer work on Dolphin. Phone is stock, not rooted and I intend to keep it that way.
Only way I know now is to root.

Yes it just needs to be flash v10+ anything below 10 doesn't support android 4+. Flash versions 10 and 11 both will work in android 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2. The reason flash is no longer supported is because adobe is no longer supporting flash since the entire Internet is shifting it's embedded video standard away from flash in favor of the more efficient HTML5. For comparison if you stream a video in flash and it uses 10mb of data, that same video in HTML5 will only use between 5 and 7mb of data. It uses less resources to stream which makes buffer times lower and definition higher while using less data.

If you haven't yet heard, Adobe is ending all support for mobile Flash entirely on August 15th, 2012 (tomorrow). This includes stopping all new downloads of Flash, which means removal of the Flash apk from the Google Play Store. Since we're all enterprising smartphone users who still want to use Flash, I request that someone post the stock apk file. Even if we have backups like Titanium for the system data, it's nice to have a clean apk to download from for our future phones, especially since mobile Flash effective has no future.
Thanks in advance.
Google search for the apk. I know for a fact it's posted in many threads in the Nexus 7 forum.
Here is Adobe Flash 11 on Box.

Honestly, I'm surprised how many people downloaded this from my box account.

Anyone having major problems with flash player working? I can't seem to get it to work. I installd and restored like 3 different versions and they all do the same thing. When I open a page with a flash video in it it appears normal (a white box with the little download symbol thingy in the middle) but when I press the video it shows a little blue box with a "x" in it I think or something like that. I've also tried different roms (a tw rom and cm9) and I get the samee result.

I took a quick peek and didn't notice any tip list focusing on just rooting tips on this forum for this phone, feel free to add to this list! I know this is super noobish, but what the hell, hopefully this helps someone.
1. Removing annoying sounds (camera/startup/shutdown). Delete startup audio/camera audio sounds. I absolutely hate the dreadful sounds that come out of the S2, you can delete the ogg files if you are rooted by navigating to the parent directory ->system->media->audio->ui (delete ogg files as you wish). to delete the startup sound system->etc
2. Mobile Odin. Mobile Odin makes it super easy to flash a safe recovery kernal like el29. Another big plus, is using mobile odin doesn't trigger yellow triangle. Chainfire was nice enough to share mobile odin (that flashes kernal to xda users here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899). To put it simply, a safe kernal allows you to flash a zip/rom. Keep in mind getting mobile odin pro may allow you to flash roms directly, but I believe modems need to be flashed seperately.
3. Button Savior. If you have phantom key presses and it's driving you insane (like me in the past). Try this program out, I believe it's on the market. It adds software button functionality, having root access ensures that it has access to all buttons, not having root will cause some of the software buttons not to work. Highly recommend the paid version if you are stuck with a phone with phantom key presses. Keep in mind that the new JB roms and CM builds coming out have an option for on screen buttons.
4. pimp my rom. A wonderful app that has tons of customizations for the phone and tweaking for maximum performance. If you're interested check the forum page on it. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269 . In addition, Exit_Only's tweaks are built specifically for our phone while pimp my rom is a more universal type of tweak. Exit_Only tweaks are here: -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975379
5. Titanium Backup. Does so much ranging from uninstalling or "freezing" useless apps that come with the phone (think sprint FM radio or sprint ID). It also does what it says in it's name... backup stuff.

Btw, instead of deleting files you could add a .bak file extension to whatever you don't want and reboot. This way if you want it back later on you just need to remove the .bak extension and reboot which is a lot better than flashing the full ROM again.

What's the state of adobe flash support on this device?
Theres supposedly a new version of adobe flash player, including for android, including for "Androud 4 and above"
http://arstechnica.com/security/201...-update-for-attacks-on-windows-mac-users/#p3n
I definitely installed an apk named adobe flash installer ics only days ago after flashing stock rooted MA5, and there is a flash player settings icon in my app drawer, although it just goes to a web page not to a local app, and adobe flash does not appear anywhere in market, not even in "my apps". And when I go to the link "To see what version of Flash your computer is running.", it says "You have version 11,1,115,36 installed."
It shows in Titanium backup too as 11.1.115.36 installed.
Yet when I go to the download page:
http://www.adobe.com/m/flashplayer/android.html
It just says sorry you need flash installed.
According to some of the comments on that Ars article the version numbers are questionable so maybe I somehow already have the latest version or maybe the article got the numbers wrong.
But basically, what is the state of flash on this device? Is it just that the stock browser doesn't support it even if it's installed? Does Chrome or some other browser work?

Chrome does not work with flash, but there are a handful of browsers that do. Personally I use Firefox when I have to do something with flash, but I use Chrome for everything else.
Tip: make sure to enable plugins in the settings of whichever browser you decide to use.
As far as the new version - I don't know anything about it. I'll have to check that out.
The state of Adobe Flash is that it is semi-abandonware. Only fixes from Adobe are critical security fixes, with dev effort halted as of August 2012 (before out N2 was even released)....Flash even working on our note at all is a fluke from Adobe's point of view.

There is a nice thread in the Intneral GN2 on this topic, and the guy posts a direct link for the APK from Adobe.
As the other guy, you need to use a Flash friendly browser. I'm use Boat, since it's a light browser and works. The other two that would work, that I know of are Firefox (mentioned earlier) and Dolphin. If you can get it to work, I found Dolphin, on my Evo4G, worked best with Flash. Firefox worked, but was really so to load. Boat works fine, but I haven't thoroughly tested it.
Overall, I find Flash experience and performance to be site dependent Some sites, works like a charm. Others, well..., they're less than desirable with odd issues that came up such as no picture if you go full screen.

Here's the link that I use on all androids with 4.0 up. No problems with flash on stock browser after installation.
Download and install with a file manager. Root not necessary.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/w2s6vcaa8ks14ut/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Settings advanced plugins is already "always on". There is no flash-specific setting anywhere.
Are any of you with working flash in the stock browser on ma5? Maybe the browser in ma5 has all support stripped out?
That download was for 11.1.115.20
It didn't work any better so I think people should install the latest 11.1.115.37 unless we can show that there is some situation where the old version works while the new one does not. It was a security update after all and it was bad enough that they actually updated a product they already said they were never updating again. It is handy to have old versions to refer to sometimes though so thanks for that.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Annnd now it's working. Stock browser in MA5 with flash 11.1.115.37 installed, the adobe flash test page actually works. The Sprint speed test page also works.
I wish we could nail down exactly how to make it work and document it explicitly.
Why didn't it work for me before? Why does it work now?
The only things I did in the last few minutes were: installed dolphin, dolphin beta, firefox, firefox beta, and xscope pro (i had purchased that way back on the og evo but never really used it since then) and tried to load up the test page in everything but xscope, just hadn't got that far yet when I tried the stock browser again just to double check and compare the exact appearance. Possibly one of the other browser installs did something to flash to make it work? Maybe installing that 11.1.115.20 version did something after all even though it was replaced again? I haven't even rebooted.

Unfortunately it does. During the beta test its using location check to disable it. It installs ok then as soon as you open it, it takes a second then gives a message "this feature not available in your region" then FC. I had a friend of mine from Oz grab a copy for me and I thought it was gonna work right up until that damn error message popped up. I'm trying to figure out if I can disable the check now but it's being a PITA cuz it's hiding all over the place it seems to be linked to almost every action in the app.

Yeah it sucked. It installed fine opened fine and then as soon as you touch anything it hangs for a second, throws the error then FC and after that when you press the icon nothing happens but a FC about a minute later. I opened it up thinking I'd just need to rip out a line of code and that's when I found out it wasn't just in one place, it's hidden all throughout the app. Someone seriously didn't want it working outside of Oz. I'm honestly not even sure if I'll be able to mod it or if removing all those location entries will bork the whole app, given I can even find all of them.

About all you could do is try VPN tunneling via a gateway in Australia, with your device GPS off...but odds are the way the app is written, to ever use the app you'd have to do that.
Even then I doubt that would work, as the IP location occurs client side and not server side....and I've never heard of anyone faking GPS coordinates.

If we can get the apk you can use Fake GPS and it will detect your status as wherever you set it to. I've used it before and it does work.

Market spoofer doesnt work according to peoples ratings and it's not even free lol
It uses your IP to determine location too. I couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried so far. Next step is trying to strip all the location checks out of the apk, if it doesn't break the apk. Maybe if you can proxy an aus ISP/carrier IP ontop of fake gps it may work.
