Busybox - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

What is busybox? I know it helps some root apps run but here's my dilemma. I installed busybox for this root app. But then I decided I don't need it so I tried to uninstall it but the uninstall failed. Should I just let it be? Or should I take more measures to remove it? Will it ever get in the way?
Edit: The uninstall fail made the device unstable so i reflashed rom.

It hasn't ever gotten in the way for me, i would just let it be i don't think it will interfere with anything.

Busybox is a set of Unix tools I believe

Sounds like it was packed with your rom and its in there as a system app. Can remove it with titanium backup. Sure other suggestions will come about.
That's the thing, it's not showing up in titanium backup

In superuser there is an unroot option. It will remove it for you

Delete it from /system/app.

[Q] Rooted or not?

Deletion
use superoneclick, btw, cm10 comes pre-rooted I guess?! maybe theres something corrupt..
you should have installed CWM after you rooted already.
Deletion
Kill adb.exe and try again

i got same problem.. did you solved it?
It should be already rooted... BTW!?
Ηι, someone was able to do it and how?
I have the same problem, actually this is the 2nd time.
I installed clockwork recovery, flashed cm9, it wasn't rooted.. Tinkered around and it worked. I remember it being fairly simple and therefore I took little notice of what I did.
After screwing my phone up I flashed again.. Now no su access, no root access.. And i cant seem to surpass it. Clockwork works fine, and superoneclick does not
Flashed rom and su patch from maclaw..
If anyone could shed light id be very grateful.

If I remember correctly, cm9 had an option to enable disable root access for apps and adb. Have you checked if you have the right options enabled in the settings ?

Yeah, I've tried root apps only and root apps + adb
Also tried disabling root and applying su patch.. Nothing! It sucks cos I hate bloatware. Cm10 was rooted using the dev options in settings, but the rom was too unstable for me

Try following these steps. Might work
1. Flash Stock ROM back.
2. Root the phone.
3. Install Clockwork MOD
4. Then install CM9 RC2 by maclaw
5. After that, install the patch through CWM
These steps worked for me.
It worked for me! Yaay su permission has never felt better
Thank you!

I don't know if it will, but try.
Also, the newest SuperUser allows a temporary unroot, maybe just use that to access it.

[Q] Does BusyBox need to stay installed after root?

Greets, now that I have finally been able to full-root my XperiaM, I would like to know if BusyBox needs to stay installed in order to "keep" the full root or can it be uninstalled or at least frozen with Titanium Backup. (I am trying to cut down on all the icons in my apps tray).
I know that BusyBox was needed in order for the Anto Kus Tool to do it's magic but now I don't know if it is still needed.... Cheers
It is needed. So don't uninstall it

Thanks. So I won't uninstall it but it can't be frozen with TitaniumBackup either?
The icon you have at your launcher is an installer, so, you probably downloaded it, asked it to install busybox and did the full root. You can safely remove that app, by doing that you're removing the installer only, busybox binary (which is needed by most of the root apps) will stay installed...
