Hello!
So now for a few days my phone has been acting weird. When I wake up in the morning, I see that the phone has restarted under the night and now today, it is kind of dead. First it wouldn't open when pressing homebutton or powerbutton and then I took out the battery and put it in again and then the bootscreen showed twice and after that the phone worked for about 5 minutes to later be frozen again and now it only shows the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" bit before the Samsung logo and won't proceed.
I have rooted my phone and I have Clockwork as recovery and also the mod app2sd to change so my sdcard is the default one. I can access download mode but not recovery.
So I'm hoping for a answer from you guys, how should I "unbrick" it? I still want to keep the stock Samsung ROM. I might agree to add a custom Samsung ROM that only have been bricked because I kinda like the Samsung ROM. But mainly, I want my phone to start!
Regards, DarknessSky

Yes, one at the front. The smallest nearest the SAMSUNG-logo. It did just flash pretty fast when holding power-button.

And does that mean I can't fix it myself?
My warranty is still "active" but I have a rooted phone with CWM and the mod "app2sd". I have used Triangle Away to change the flash count to 0 but when I was "inside" the phone and viewed the phone status it said "modified". Will Samsung notice these things or might they just flash a "working" ROM and then send it back?
Thanks in advance!
It's sds. It can't be booted up without replacing motherboard.
If the counter is zero and binary is official then there should be no issues. If they asking you questions related to rooting which they probably wouldn't just act like a complete ass.

I've got another question that is related to Samsung... When I send my phone in my motherboard then is "broken", right? Do they actually take the time to replace it or do they just send another one? How likely is it that they just send a new one? I've also have a problem with my 3,5mm input because it is too big.

It's safe to. There have been a few reports that say that SDS occurs with the latest ROMs, and it's been confirmed that if the symptoms start before you flash the relevant updates, there's nothing you can do.

same case and ODIN active in download mode
i just need to know what does this mean. i have the same case this guy has.......woke up this morning and phone was on first splash screen and not responding nor allowing recovery mode.
i never rooted it and to my surprize when i enter the download mode i find ODIN!!!
so does this still mean it's an SDS with the motherboard thingi? or can i just flash my first custom rom and get thru the day easily? please advise!

It works on other models. I have googled it. It doesnt work on ours. Seqrxh for the reseting binary counter thread in general. It has veen tested not to reset. Having a jig for download mode is never a bad idea though in bricky situations.

I see your point. But at the same time I owned the vibrant since day one and now this device since day one. I have flashed almost every rom/kernel available for each and have never needed a USB jig. I have a jig and have owned phone since day 1. I can definitively say only flashing Odin to stock rings up my counter; regardless of a jig. Mine is currently at 4. (skyrocket btw but basically the same) Samsung removed binary reset capability with 2.3.5 and up.

Odin to stock rings up your counter? Weird vecause i have used odin to return to stock many times on t989 and its still zeeo. Only time it rings it up is when you odin insecure kernel. Stock kernel and stock recovery both nwver ring it up.

Can anyone (Dev) please explain why phones get bricked? I'm just curious what's going on behind the scene. BTW I know why phones get bricked - bad flash, wronf ROM or Kernal - But I want to know why there is hard brick why we won't be able to do a reset and make it work.
why would a "brick" even exists in the first place?
Thanks guys
am not a Dev but will hazard a guess...
A Hard brick is a phone which had some sort of issue while in download mode and didn't get enough of the uploading ROM to have anything to reboot with.
Here's an example of how I am pretty sure you can hard brick your phone:
1. put it into download mode and connect to computer
2. fire up Odin, find a Rom to flash and start the process.
3. Before the process finishes disconnect and pull the battery.
4. Try to boot... Bet it's hard bricked.
When a flash goes bad it can leave nothing for the phone to boot from. It's like having a blank hard drive without the ability to format it and write a boot sector...
Hope that helps.

Hi, I haven't seen this topic brought up anywhere and needed some help.
I bought an AT&T Galaxy S3 on Oct. 1. I wanted to flash a rom but I can't root my phone, boot into recovery or download mode. Whenever I get into download mode the phone just reboots as soon as I let go of the buttons. My question is, was there was an update applied to the AT&T version that prevented this? Or am I just doing something wrong?

Do not have the micro usb cable plugged in while attempting this
plug it in after you get to into the mode you want
Thanks for the replies guys. I was holding the buttons for too long. Also the new update issued for the AT&T galaxy S3 overwrites CWM when you reboot the phone so I had to flash cwm using ODIN and uncheck auto reboot and boot into CWM Recovery and install Superuser so I could have root access. Next I had to flash a ROM so that I could maintain CWM. Not too hard of a process but I was getting really frustrated because I couldn't figure out while CWM Recovery wouldn't stick. Now I know, hope that helps anyone else.
Thanks again for the help guys.

Hello I m on SDS bug chip Type: VTU00M, FwRev: 0xf1.....
but can anyone please make me understand actually what is sudden death issue????????
please someone helo as I am so much worried
99% having it, just flash latest 4.1.2 (LL7 and up) it is believed to be fixed this issue.
SDS - device can die without any reason, like you have keep device on table and just auto reboots and never turns on.

but when I was checking my chip model with eMMC app then it shows like my chip is "sane" like this attachment..
So is there any way that my chip is unaffected :S

It was stater that "sane" remark worth nothing. Pay attention to the chip revision.

Chip is hardware and you can understand fixing with SW it doesn't change your hardware. it will remain same, but once you flash latest ROM (having fix) it will block commands which can damage device.
