Custom Roms on different devicrs - Sony Xperia ZL

There are ZLs with and without LTE. Does it matter which one I got when installing a custom rom? Or does that depend on the rom itself?

as long as its for the ZL I wouldnt see a problem with it

AT&T tw Roms safe to flash ?

Just want a general consensus about flashing tw Rom and not losing imei? What's the chance and is it best to stick with those for now? And I think I have seen people post that they lost imei after just rooting ?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
The risk is low, but read up on it to reduce the chance of it happening. Most users are not affected, yet. Although the exact cause is as of now, unknown. So if your nervous, stay stock for now.

I read everyday and hope that someone finds a fix . I just haven't been able to shake the fear because people who just rooted have even lost imei

It almost seems like the luck of the draw. I originally rooted and installed CWM but reverted to stock out of fear of losing IMEI. Decided to rerooted, CWM, and flash WanamLite.
Great ROM..
But like I said, it seems like the luck of the draw. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and only flashing AT&T based roms.
I have made Rom, flashed Rom, odin, kies , and owner of many many devices and never once have had that happen wonder what's new? I wanna flash badly

People have lost imeis also flashing tw Roms, to be honest I think the rom one flashes has no difference on the chance of losing imei, seems to me its like random, like winning a ****ty lottery with your phone. Hahaha

Cm 9.1.0 xperia version is so sexy I am currently using miui but cm 9.1.0 is stable as a rock and smother then keth stone

Just use KIES to update to 4.0.4 and root it, remove bloatwares and youre good to good with a fully working phone. She will appreciate it because every custom roms has bugs and always update and i bet she wont like that. My girl hates it too.. This is kinda like the other thread. What rom is wife approve?? Even though they suggest darkside, people always seem to have problems that others dont..
DMolina ツ
Kies remove root and this guy nows how to root and I ask him bro he's fine... most custom ROMs have less bugs vs aosp(aokp,miui,cm,)...have more bugs. I suggest cm 9.1.0
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Kies to 4.0.4 if you want a stable stock ROM. You can always root after that. 4.0.3 stock wasn't that greatest btw. most of the 4.0.4 custom ROMs are stable. Only the jb 4.1+ roms have a couple bugs here and there.
Btw ^ AOSP is a custom ROM too. I'm sure you know that, but it was a bit confusing and you're not making the most sense right now lol

I second this method, it's the safest. I'd do the same for my girl if I could pry the damn iPhone out of her hands.

The one in this parent forums sub forum, try launchers like nova, apex, go, hold the phone differently or move your router or use 2.4ghz not 5g if that applies to you, I've heard wifi fixer helps.

T999 roms should work. Just have a nandroid handy and don't flash any of the Tmobile modems.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
All the T-Mobile roms work on the T999v (I have a t999v on Wind). This includes AOSP roms, TouchWiz and the JellyBean leaks. Same goes for kernels. As mentioned before, just don't touch any radios/modems as they will not work.

Good battery life will be ROM dependent. The ICS roms based on touchwiz should have similar battery life. I also have decent battery life on the AOSP Jellybean roms. The Jellybean touchwiz leaks are a bit more touchy. Some users report lower battery life on some ROMs though it has been improving gradually

That's ypur baseband/modem. It will remain the same when you flash roms. No rom should affect the modem in any way (as far as flashing is concerned).
So yes you can freely flash roms. But do not flash any modems not intended for your model phone!

No you do not need to reflash your modem. They are independent of each other.

Exactly. They are on different partitions. When you flash a rom the baseband will remain the same.
The only time this matters is when you are flashing an ota patch. Then you must be full stock, modem and all.

Thanks a whole lot guys i will be flashing my first custom rom today !! I want to try a jb/aosp but how is camera quality ?
Sent from my SGH-T999V using xda premium
AOSP camera has less features than the touchwiz camera but it's not like you're physically changing the camera itself, so the quality should be the same.
This cm10 aosp rom is loaded whit win !

[Q] pacman rom signal issue

Is any one else having signal issues with this rom
Mine will not lock in just comes and goes
Baseband imei and all are there but signal will not lock in for more than a second
To clarify im talking about cell and data

I've had bad signal experience with Probam&PAC, I flashed the XXDMG1 modem, returned to older modem but nothing worked
Now I'm back to 4.2.2 roms and the problem seems to have gone away, I couldn't find any solution when using those 4.3 roms and it got really frustrating
It is very frustrating since this is the place to go for help and all ignore you when you have a problem

I assume you're using Android 4.3
I'm having a similar issue on CM10.2 with severe signal disruptions even though it shows up as connected. Apparently it's a problem that exists on the rom itself, so I'd advise going back to stock-based rom or try a different rom that doesn't have this issue.
Thanks I have went back to crash rom from backup
I hope they work that out love 4.3 from what I've seen of it

I understand your frustration fully Bro. Finding the right community is key
Have you tried probam by Codexc found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2336271
[4.3][SEP-18] ProBAM v4.4.6 HUGEST [PA 3.99.1][Sound5.1][Smart-S][FireStable][PAC]
Been running it for a very long time and it's truly a platinum rom in every way...LATEST FEATURES/stable/best community IMHO. 4.3 is where it's happening and probam rom could be all you have been looking for

Can I flash AOSP ROM with the new bootloader?

I flashed the new TW 4.3 ROM and for it to work it needs the new bootloader with the knox warranty bit. My question is can I flash now if I wanted an AOSP Rom with the new bootloader? Has anyone tried it maybe share his experience with us?

do you still want Knox warranty or just does't care for it?
there's a thread to remove knox entirely & you can install AOSP
I flashed the new boot loader. Then decided I didn't like tw 4.3 and switched to paranoid aospa. So far so good.
Only thing I noticed is that my phone sometimes turns off Bluetooth and WiFi if the phone gets too hot, e.g. when I am playing intensive games for half an hour or so. Nothing that a reboot doesn't solve.
