TWRP Recovery not working. Each time I reboot into recovery the Teamwin logo just stays there, screen would flicker every 5-6 seconds. I can not access anything, e.g. flashing, wiping, backups, restore....nothing. Everything else works fine, Odin mode good, Phone good. Just having that recovery problem. any help would be greatly appreciated .
sounds like your recovery is corrupted, find an odinable recovery or Odin back to complete stock and start over with the rooting process
SPRINT GS3 FAQ
That's odd if its corrupted, I haven't flashed a bad rom, files, etc. Ill try the odinable recovery, if that doesn't work, then its stock for me ):
Yea it happened to me...I used odin and got cwm...then I used odin again got twrp....now everything is.fine.except that I cant access certain folders...it reads their files as 12...dont knoe why

I have been trying to find an answer for the last several hours. But I can't seem to get anything to work.
I have the AT&T GS3 and I was able to flash AOKP but then I wanted to revert back to stock. I tried the toolkit and followed the steps and what might of happened is that AOKP did not get wiped completely when I flashed the stock image. Now after successfully flashing the stock image (I get the PASS! on Odin), my phone is stuck while booting. It goes past the AT&T boot image but gets stuck on "SAMSUNG". I tries flashing through ODIN, another downloaded version of the stock image but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?
Another problem with being stuck in bootloop is that since I flashed the stock image; I think I no longer have CWM. I can't find a way to get to recovery.
I'm not really sure how to help but if you can get to the boot animations you aren't bricked. I know you're not on verizon but in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759642 it says when coming from an AOSP rom back to the stock rom you have to flash a stock boot.img before flashing the stock rom. Hope you can get it working again
Did you make a nandroid backup before you flashed the Rom...if you did you can restore from cwm recovery...hold power, volume up, and home...after the screen goes black let go of the power...hope this helps

If you can get into download mode , just flash recovery from odin.
And how long have you waited at samsung logo , it might take few minutes to bootup.
I don't have CWM recovery. It got stuck on the Samsung logo for 20 minutes before I gave up and did a battery pull.
What do I flash through odin to get it working again. Which recovery file?
Ok, I just used the method described in this article and I am still stuck at the SAMSUNG logo.

Tried that. Still same problem. Noticed that the boot-stock-att-sgh-i7.tar is only 10.5 mb. I don't know much about this, but is that tar file enough to get me unbricked?
usually the .tar file should be much larger than that. It's possible that the file you downloaded got corrupted. Try re downloading the file and than flashing it again.

If you look in the mediafire link inside ths artivle, you will notice that the download is only 10 mb

just re flash stock in odin flash Flash this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737848
so i decided the odin, to get back to stock so i can flash MIUI, coming from Frosty Jb, and Ktoonzer kernal. i used boot-insecure-tmo-t999uvalem-cwm to on ODIN, the phone rebooted, and then a blue LED started Flashing. it vibrated and kept rebooting. i took out battery, and goutt into Cwm, then wanted to flash MIUI, but it failed because of Build.prop, so i went back into download and flashed boot-insecure-tmo-t999uvalem-cwm again. now it wont boot, and let me get into Download mode or Cwm
Edit: im can get back into and CWM now, but not Download mode. it needed to run though one cycle of bootlooping before it let me in. So now im back on the Frosty jb, And i feel like my phone wont let me Flash anything else.
What happens when you try to go into download mode from Frostys reboot menu?
Maybe flash the UVALH2 deodexed stock rom and try odin again.
But use either the regular fw from sammobile or root66 from MrRobinson.
Where did you get the fw you've been trying to flash?

boot-insecure-tmo-t999uvalem-cwm
Is this just a kernel? You had said you were trying to odin back to stock, but this looks to be a cwm flashable file which I doubt is gonna work in odin.

A similar thing happened toe when I tried going to stock from JB. Try ODIN back to stock using mrRobinsons file. Then boot into the recovery and do a factory reset. Note that this will probably wipe your internal storage

I've never seen Odin wipe internal or external SD cards. As far as I know, it doesn't even have this capability, which is a good thing.
So i got back into Stock. i Rerooted and everything, i downloading Goomanager and the CodenameAndroid ROM From there. i installed the twcr recovery from goomanager. Then i flashed the CodenameAndroid. it has a boot animation but not booting, i cant get into Cwm or Download mode. it goes into Download mode for 2 seconds virbates and roots. Any Idea??

It wasnt ODIN that wiped my storage. It was running the factory reset from the Samsung 3e Recovery (which I got after I used ODIN to go back to stock)

Getting into recovery can be tricky as there's a short window where you have to release the buttons. The most successful way for me is, with the phone off, hold home+power+vol up. When you see the Samsung logo, look at the top of the screen for a line of blue text. If you see this line, immiediately let go of all buttons.
Another option (might be a longshot) would be to try using ADB during the CodenameAndroid (CNA) boot animation. Search for ADB standalone to get the files you need. While your phone is on the CNA bootscreen, plug it intop your computer and try running "adb devices" from the command line (you'll need to be in the same folder as the ADB executable). If you see a serial number, then try running "adb reboot recovery" which should get you into recovery mode

Did you remember to wipe everything including factory reset in recovery?
If you're already rooted just press reboot recovery in goo manager. Otherwise try what the above post says.

Did you make a Nandroid (Backup) of your ROMS? Always make a Backup before flashing anything on your phone. If the solutions the users have posted doesn't work, then USB JIG can be used as a last resort. I would also like to let you know some kernels corresponds to some ROMS. For an example, Frosty is based on TW (Touch Wiz) and can only be flashed with kernels that supports Touch Wiz. Flashing Ktoonzer kernel with, for an example, CM10 would only result in the phone not being able to boot due to CM10 ROM not supporting Touch Wiz. Make sure you flash a kernel that supports the ROM and before any flashing, make a backup via recovery.
I wanted to upgrade to CM11. TWRP 2.5 wouldn't flash it for some reason. I decided that maybe I should update the recovery. Goomanager is the preferred way, right? So I searched for "recovery" and about 6 results came up, out of which only two were .zip's. I downloaded TWRP 2.6, instead of CWM, and then I rebooted into recovery. I flashed the TWRP 2.6 zip, and rebooted.
Nothing.
Pressing and holding the button does absolutely nothing; no vibration, no splash, no charging animation, nothing.
My question is this: is there anyway for me to manually format and write to my phone and reset it completely via my computer? I really am not sure why I got hard bricked. I think that zip wasn't meant to be flashed via recovery.
I think need Jtag. I never use goo to update or install anything.

Might be a stupid question, but have you tried connecting to your computer w/usb and booting to download, and then using odin? I recently thought I bricked my phone, no response at all like you described. If I took out the battery tho and while connected to usb booted to download, it would work. I was able to reflash an old recovery with odin, then restore a stock rom, then install TWRP 2.6 .tar file with odin again. Then you should be able to install any ICS or newer rom you want. The .tar file and stock rom .tar are both pretty easy to find if you Google a bit.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...timate-Root-and-Optimization-Guide-with-Steps
has links to all the files, should all still be working I just downloaded some last week. Sorry if you are way beyond this.
I went through the normal procedure of installing a new ROM, I wiped w/factory reset, got hit with a "status 7" error. I looked it up and it's apparently a problem with conflicting recovery manager files. That makes sense because I have CWM recovery and it asked me to install TWRP. I guess you can't have both?
I followed a tutorial explaining how to edit the userscript file to bypass the error and it seemed like it was going to install at first but I still got hit with it. Now my computer doesn't recognize my s3 (d2spr) so I have to put the files on an external microSD. I tried to restore from CWM but it wouldn't let me. I'm pretty new to this stuff so I'm not sure how to proceed from here.
Your best option is Odin back to stock and start over again.

Hi guys, I managed to do something I've never heard of. To be fair, I try to follow directions pretty well, so I don't screw things up too often, and I'm not sure what to do now. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
The symptom is that the phone will boot witht eh Samsung boot animation, I will see the Clockworkmod icon at the bottom, some Clockworkmod version information, then the phone will reboot. This will happen presumably indefinitely. I have watched it do it 3 times in a row and then pulled the battery. Post Philz, I get Android tablet icons instead of Clockworkmod icon and version info.
I loaded Whompasaurus http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039564 to my phone yesterday and I was about to load Venom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121063 to my phone this morning (I had just copied it to the SD card). I told the phone to reboot into recovery by pressing the power button and selecting the option "reboot, recovery". The phone is now stuck rebooting attempting to enter recover and failing, or so it appears. I upgraded the Clockworkmod version to 6.0.4.3 yesterday, and that did act a little weird in my opinion, but since I had never done that before, I wasn't sure what to expect.
When I told it to upgrade in the Clockworkmod app, the phone powered off and I had to remove the battery to turn it back on. I booted to recovery and it said it was now at 6.0.4.3, so I booted normally. Back in the app it said it was 5.something. I kept poking around and it eventually asked for root access, which it hadn't before, and when I told it to upgrade the recovery this time, it actually rebotted the phone rather than turn it off.
I reflashed the CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery with Heimdall per these instructions (why aren't there proper instructions for Odin?!?!?! ermahgerd!!) via this link http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_l900
That was successful but did not affect the symptoms.
I upgraded to Philz recovery thinking maybe I had to use a different recovery to reset the "boot to recovery" flag. I used this file and Odin, after resetting the Samsung driver: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/l900/philz_touch_6.26.6-l900.tar.md5
The process was successful, but did not change the symptoms. Instead of seeing a Clockworkmod icon and version info at the bottom, I see what looks like android icons at the bottom, and then the phone reboots.
What can I do to fix my phone? I can boot to downloader mode fine. I would prefer to use Odin, but it seems I have Heimdall set up and working too.
Try using Odin to glad twrp 2.6.x then if it works try flashing your desired recovery from recovery

Is there something special about 2.6.x? I saw that there's a 2.7.x available now. 2.6.x doesn't seem to like my 64GB SD card, or maybe something else is going on. I factory reset a few times and will upgrade to the latest TWRP and try to flash that latest Venom ROM now and see what happens.
*Edit* No, there's SDCARD, SDCARD1, and EXTERNAL_SDCARD and I didn't check all of them, that's all. Oy, oy, oy.... But I'm up to 2.7 and installing Venom now....
Are asking for ROM recommendations still a no-no?
Yeah still pretty much a no no. I have used all the roms here and they are all pretty good.
Now I do suggest that you flash philz 6.07.9 for your recovery. First is that it properly flashes 4.4 and TW 4.3 roms. Second it makes proper backups. Twrp still has issues with aosp 4.4 and TW 4.3.
