Hi guys, I just joined xda-developers today so excuse me if I make any mistakes. I'm looking to root my I9000, mainly because of the lag issue on it. I looked through other threads for the whole day and I kind of found out how to root but the problem is that I couldn't find the right files for my phone.
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9000BUJV3
Kernel version: [email protected] #2
Could you point me which would be the right files to download? Thank you!
Successful meanwhile?
Your post is from months ago.... did you solve it?
Did you install following apps from Play store?
SMS backup & restore
Call logs backup & restore
Export all Contacts (as vfc card)
Best backup all and copy your files also on some external memory.
Forget your strange ROM, just flash any other stock ROM with Odin. I've just posted few days ago an unbricking guide for i9000 (soft brick happened by wrong downgrade from CM10 back to Froyo 2.2) nearly step by step.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44395767#post44395767
First two steps are unbricking, so just read all before step 1, skip steps 1 and 2 and begin by step 3. After step 4 you'll have rooted 2.2.1 and can flash for example an excellent SpeedMod kernel (which includes CWM and works great with the i9000).
You can find the SpeedMod kernel here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756
Also very nice instructions how to use Odin etc are there. Download the linked "Latest K13E (12-Apr)" version of the Kernel, the recommended one (Odin version). Just flash it via Odin (PDA). You might like your i9000 very much with that kernel.
After that you either use your new 2.2.1, or flash (not with Odin, but through CWM recovery!) the best and coolest ROM I ever tried on the i9000 (it's very new) by pawitp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778526
After wipe and flashing CM10.1, you will need to restore all your contacts, SMS and call logs so don't forget to make backup. And once running CM, don't try to restore your previous ROMs via nandroid backup, the md5 isn't compatible and you'll have at least light brick like I did....

I forgot this: Before you start anything, make sure that Samsung drivers are installed on your PC (the PC you will use for root)
You can use Samsung Kies to install the drivers, but after installing them it is best to remove Samsung Kies software completely from your PC as it loves to work in the background and can ruin your root attempt

Hi
Last night i tired to root my phone using a firmware but kinda ran in some what a major issue. As i was updating the ROM using ODIN it decided to fail and kinda soft brick my device. After trying to find ways to get round i mange to find a stock ROM which got it back to the main screen. The issue that i've got now is that the IMEI number is 0049 and getting no service or mobile data.
Looked on a couple forums about trying to fix the IMEI. I came across one including the NV_Data and another one using EFS restore. The issue is that i haven't got a working NV_Data file or a full back up of a EFS partition. (yeah i know that i've should've backed up the EFS had it all today off my mate hehe)
Was wondering if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100- SIM: T-mobile
Thank you

How to recover lost IMEI that happens with downgrading ROM
If you have lost IMEI just by downgrading (as said by above by flashing older ROM), still you can recover IMEI without having EFS backup.
-Again upgrade ROM will restore IMEI OR
-Flash latest Modem. You can find it here.. You can download MG1 modem and flash using PC Odin with 'Phone' tab instead of PDA.
Remember above said works only if IMEI is corrupted by downgrading ROM only, if it was corrupted by other things, this won't be helpful.

try flashing DDDMG1 or DXDMF1 modem from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044937
Thank you for the reply.
Just to double check is it this what i need to download from the link you gave me
Modem
N7100XXALJ1 (modem version N7100XXALIH) [Thnx AdamLange]
If so for some reason the file cant be found
no i meant the latest 3 modems for 4.1.2
XXDME4
DXDMF1
DDDMG1
because flashing old modem over one of the 3 newer modems makes the same problem as yours ..
so installing the newer modem might fix things for you without having to install the whole rom
-------------------
u nead a custom recovery(philz or Twrp) to install these modems ...
Really grateful for the help
When you say i need to install the modem using a recovery (philz or twrp) would you happen to know were i can find a step by step guide on how to use the recovery??
Cheers
u already used odin so u must have samsung drivers and odin ... just dowanload twrp for ur n7100 from there site http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/115
then download the Odin Method
select the file from the pda button in odin and flash ....it should even root ur phone if it wasn't .. there is a lot of ways to reset ur phone to stock so it's not a dangerous operation
this vid is for s3 but it's the same method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f9QdsnSTso just use the file from the link above
OOOOOSHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Thank you very much for all help manage to get it working now. Everything you said has helped.
Cheers mate really appreciate everything you done :victory:
don't want to confuse you but if u don't want to root ur phone / install custom recovery
u can download stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230250
it should be same result ...

u r welcome .....just make a nandroid backup (using the custom reecovery ) and the make sure to include the EFS and place it somewhere secure extsd and the pc to save u from alot of trouble in the future
Hi guys. I want to put a custom ROM on my Epic Touch 4G, and while I've read a lot of forum posts, I have a few questions which will hopefully be easy to answer. I don't think I'm a total newbie -- more of an informed layperson (I've put a custom ROM on my wife's LGL-35, for example).
My phone is an Epic Touch 4G (obviously!) running 4.0.4 (IMM761.FL.24) which has been successfully rooted.
My first question is: should I use CWM Recovery (as I would like to do)? I've seen several posts which say "no," but the Cyanogenmod page on the 4G (can't post a link because I'm new) suggest a specific version for the process. Would you consider it safe to use?
My second question is: what's the best way to get the recovery on the phone? The consensus seems to be Odin, but I can't use that owing to the fact that my computer runs Linux (I have a Mac for work, but Cyanogenmod's suggestion of Heimdall doesn't work for it owing to library version conflicts.) So I'd like to use Mobile Odin (which seems to support the phone now).
My last question relates to Firmware. I believe that it is IMM761.FL.24 (as above), but that number looks different from what I've seen in the forum. Perhaps this would be stated as ICS24? From my reading it seems that firmware version is important, and I don't want to brick my phone! Is the methodology I'm proposing here relevant for that firmware version?
My reading of things suggest that this should be pretty easy:
1) Download Mobile Odin and the appropriate flash kernel to the phone.
2) Install Mobile Odin and use it to flash the kernel
3) Use Mobile Odin to flash the recovery tar.md5 file referenced above.
4) Backup my apps and data with TiBU and create an update.zip
5) Perform a nandroid backup of the current ROM.
6) Place the appropriate ROM and Gapps on the SD card
7) From CWM flash the ROM, Gapps, and update.zip
Am I missing anything?
Thanks in advance!

CMW will only work for AOSP ROMs. If you are not rooted, you need to do that first. Start off by deciding what ROM you want first. Some require you to be on FL24 and some require you to be on GB27. Since you are in FL24, just download the ROM of choice with the Gapps.
I would suggest you go to @rwilco12's repository and download the one-click for both GB27 and FL24. You will also need to download EL29 kernel and AGATs recovery kernel from the same website. Once you have them on your computer, look up E4GT ROMs on YouTube. @qbking77s videos are spot on for what you need to do. If you get stuck, let me know. I would suggest you download the files on your PC and view the video after. Your steps will brick you. Do not do any if them until you views the videos. CMW is for AOSP ROM/FL24 and AGAT is for TW/GB27.

The recovery is installed in the ROM. Don't worry about getting it to the phone.

Thanks for your reply -- it was very informative. I've looked at some of the resources you linked to, and they're chocked full of good information.
I'm still at a loss as to how to install the recovery, as all of the links assume that you're running Windows (and I'm running Linux on my PC). I assume that I'll just have to get access to a windows PC to perform the recovery install?

Like in the subject.
I upgraded my phone to lollipop (new partition layout)
however I do not like it because it is to slow comparing to previous systems.
There is kitkat for the same partition layout however It is still no the same what I had on Mokee 4.2.2 (i had good settings on that).
So question is there a way to comeback to old system on my Galaxy wonder.
I tried to do it with odin, rollback to 2.3.6. It did install 2.3.6 but it wasn't work properly. Couldn't install anything properly (i guess partition problem stays).
And please don't write thinngs like: "who wants to delete 5.0.1" or "5.0.1 is great system" or similar.
Question is: is there a way to comeback to old system layout on my Galaxy wonder. Can't find that anywhere for galaxy wonder.
Some step by step would be appreciated.
I would like to have possibility to install 2.3.6 up to 4.2.2
Thank you.
Well I see no one knows....
I *think* you need to flash a PIT file with Odin this will set the partition sizes back to their 'stock' values/sizes. I don't know if a pit file for the W exists.....might have to dig around to find one......
If you do find one and Odin flash it, you'll have to re-flash a firmware/rom before attempting to boot the phone as reformatting the memory with a pit file will (at the very least) corrupt the OS but is more likely to erase it completely.....

You *might* get the pit file here......

I can't check because my ad blocker is preventing the download......

if u want to restore old backup nandroid, flash back the old recovery 6.0.5.1.
coz new recovery 6.0.5.1 has different partition from the old version.
attach files r old n new versions, flash either old (5.99 mb) or new (5.62 mb).
if cant flash, try rename file wo '-old' or '-new', it is to differential old n new versions.
Try @saintsoh's idea first.....flashing a pit is pretty much a last resort option.....

Yes ODIN is the thing.
When I did install it by ODIN, on the begining phone didn't let me to install anything....
... the trick was to wait untill system will upgrade all google services. After that 2.3.6 was warking fine (that is to all who would like to instal this)
..But any way... finaly I have best combination for me. CM10+hurtsky kernel rev9 - fastest combination for me. It is not for big gaming but, that is the fastest and most battery saving combination which I reached.
..and I will stay on this on that phone.
Thanks for responds.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and because it has limited memory I want to remove some of the factory bloat.
The tablet has Android 6.0.1 currently installed
1) Before I root, what is the best method to backup everything (bloat and apps) just in case I want to go back to current state
2) What is the best and safest method to root?
3) What factory apps and bloat can I remove without causing a problem?
Thanks all
No takers on this question
If the OP now knows , could they please post a link to the method they used. Cheers

i install twrp with odin an install MagiskSU or SuperSU (ZIP) with TWRP Recovery. Then install Titanium Backup from google play and uninstall all Pre-System-Apps that you don´t need with Titanium Backup. Caution ! Do not uninstall core systemapps else brick your device !
Same situation
I also have a sm-t800 on 6.0.1 and basically want to do the same thing, twrp, root, rom.
I have no idea what's going on with my odin, I tried cf autoroot and twrp flash, both fail.
I tried several different odin version's with several different compatibility setups, none worked.
(Windows 10)
I used odin before on this pc to do my galaxy tab a and my other Samsung tab with no issues.
The only thing I can think of is my bootloader is locked, but I thought under MM the bootloader is fine.
So if anyone wants to tell me which guide to start with or has any ideas what's wrong I would appreciate it.
Ty in advance for whoever decides to help.

Tried factory reset.,
I still get, "get pit for mapping" in odin then it fails.
Anyone have a link to the exact version of odin and twrp or cfautoroot their using?
To be honest, I think my problem is either with tablet or odin.

I rooted and flashed my other 2 Samsung tabs with no prob, I usually have no problem using odin
Here's a screenshot of my tablets info.
So I resolved my odin problem, with it getting stuck at "getting pit for mapping"
So I created a new windows profile with administration rights, and plugged the USB into a port on the back instead of the front.
Not sure exactly which one resolved my issue but 1 or both of them got odin to work.
I flashed stock rom from sammobile with no problems.

Did Odin show added in the box before you followed these steps? Also you need to have USB debugging enabled

Hi Tchk856, pleased to hear you resolved your issues.
Odin must be run with Administrator Rights to fully function, this is most likely why you experienced problems. Which onboard USB socket you choose to use is unimportant.
Over the years there's been feedback on various forums and websites suggesting disconnecting USB devices except essentials for use during the process such as mice etc then rebooting the computer before commencing with Odin mysteriously solves some issues. Possibly port/driver clashes... who knows.
Hello
I have a question.
I have A3 2017 FL with Oreo 8.0.0 and TWRP and Root.
Now Samsung have rolled out a new Update withe fixex etc.
I Juse Samsung Stock Rom and want to update.
Is there an solution to updat without loosing Date, Root and TWRP.
I have found a threat with flashfir app but that wont work for me because the flashfire app says i am samsung write protection.
I hope ther is a good manual to do this with odin.
Please help if you have a solution.
Thanks forward marle.
An other Idea is Edit the Stock Rom and flash withe odin.
I have these 4 files: AP_A320FLXXU3CRH2_CL13997403_QB19389534_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5

I think in AP_A320FLXXU3CRH2_CL13997403_QB19389534_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5
i have to delete the recovery.img.lz4 file.
I hope someone could tel what a need and what not,
Please help.
Thanks Forwards Marle.M
If you're messing with individual files in lz4 format for sure you'll want patched odin. It'll let you flash recovery and boot .img files from the stock rom once converted back to tar from 7zip.
I THINK it is possible to do if you do a clean unroot and then flash the recovery and boot... then redo all 4 with home_csc... but I do know you'll need/want patched odin.
But really it isn't so bad if you back up all your apk's on ext sd and your calls and messages with samsung cloud.
You're only looking at an hour or 2 after prep.
I am multi csc and wanted my carrier after the recent update and kept getting unbranded. Finally I flashed stock with regular csc and as soon as odin finished I went right back into download as if installing twrp but like I said, download again. Flashed stock with home_csc. Bingo... branded again. Then I noticed my dev manager said I had a 16 gig drive instead of 32. Fun. So I booted recovery, factory reset and it was brand new.
So... ha... if you don't get to do what you are asking and at least want a fresh start... there you go.
Tell you what I'll do... I am set up root again so I will unroot, flash stock recovery, boot up... power down and flash stock with the home_csc, then flash twrp and root again just to see what happens. Gimme about 30 minutes. I'm gonna break my phone hahahahaha

umm... yeah scratch that. I don't know how to re-install twrp without doing a wipe. back up your stuff and start over. If someone knows otherwise I'd like to hear it.

oh I took out my sd card and sim when I did the re-branding double rom (csc then with home_csc) trick.
