Hi
Last night i tired to root my phone using a firmware but kinda ran in some what a major issue. As i was updating the ROM using ODIN it decided to fail and kinda soft brick my device. After trying to find ways to get round i mange to find a stock ROM which got it back to the main screen. The issue that i've got now is that the IMEI number is 0049 and getting no service or mobile data.
Looked on a couple forums about trying to fix the IMEI. I came across one including the NV_Data and another one using EFS restore. The issue is that i haven't got a working NV_Data file or a full back up of a EFS partition. (yeah i know that i've should've backed up the EFS had it all today off my mate hehe)
Was wondering if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100- SIM: T-mobile
Thank you

How to recover lost IMEI that happens with downgrading ROM
If you have lost IMEI just by downgrading (as said by above by flashing older ROM), still you can recover IMEI without having EFS backup.
-Again upgrade ROM will restore IMEI OR
-Flash latest Modem. You can find it here.. You can download MG1 modem and flash using PC Odin with 'Phone' tab instead of PDA.
Remember above said works only if IMEI is corrupted by downgrading ROM only, if it was corrupted by other things, this won't be helpful.

try flashing DDDMG1 or DXDMF1 modem from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044937
Thank you for the reply.
Just to double check is it this what i need to download from the link you gave me
Modem
N7100XXALJ1 (modem version N7100XXALIH) [Thnx AdamLange]
If so for some reason the file cant be found
no i meant the latest 3 modems for 4.1.2
XXDME4
DXDMF1
DDDMG1
because flashing old modem over one of the 3 newer modems makes the same problem as yours ..
so installing the newer modem might fix things for you without having to install the whole rom
-------------------
u nead a custom recovery(philz or Twrp) to install these modems ...
Really grateful for the help
When you say i need to install the modem using a recovery (philz or twrp) would you happen to know were i can find a step by step guide on how to use the recovery??
Cheers
u already used odin so u must have samsung drivers and odin ... just dowanload twrp for ur n7100 from there site http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/115
then download the Odin Method
select the file from the pda button in odin and flash ....it should even root ur phone if it wasn't .. there is a lot of ways to reset ur phone to stock so it's not a dangerous operation
this vid is for s3 but it's the same method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f9QdsnSTso just use the file from the link above
OOOOOSHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Thank you very much for all help manage to get it working now. Everything you said has helped.
Cheers mate really appreciate everything you done :victory:
don't want to confuse you but if u don't want to root ur phone / install custom recovery
u can download stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230250
it should be same result ...

I flashed the MK3 modem, then MOAR v9.0.1 and lost my 3G data.
There are other threads here discussing similar problems.
Some said that the person lost their APN and suggested typing *#06#. I did that and got my MEID (it was not all zeroes).
Every time I type ##72786# now, i get the "SCRTN" screen and it reboots all by itself.
It rebooted, and when it came up again, it started going through the activation process. During Hands-free activation, I get the "4G" icon. Ditto for when it updates the PRL, but the icon disappears when it says it needs to reboot (and it never comes back...)
When I type ##786#, I can view RTN information.
When it comes back up, still no data. What am I missing?
I called Sprint to have them do a "data refresh" or "re-provision". Still no data. I'm stuck. Please help.
Have you tried flashing the mk5 modem? Or updating the prl?

Updating the PRL fails.
The only thread I see with an MK5 modem is for Virgin Mobile/Boost here. I can't use that if I'm on Sprint, right?
Isn't there something about zeroing out your MSL/MEID and rebooting?

Ok. I missed that in the thread. I have to wait until I get home to try it. Thanks.
Ok, when I restored my Nandroid backup, it apparently killed my TWRP. If i installed that *after* my last backup, that would explain it?
I need to start from scratch. Do I need to be at my home computer to do that?

Just to be safe I would Odin back to stock, choose which recovery you want, I personally prefer philz latest because it let's you root your phone via the recovery. Then reflash the ROM of choice.

You have made it back and hopefully rooted once again....go into recovery and flash the philz recovery....do not restart after flashing.....you can go to advanced menu and should be option to reboot to recovery.....once back in philz recovery now.....go to wipe data/factory reset...in this menu choose clean to install a new rom.....then flash any rom.......and gapps if required...some roms need gapps others have it included....read flashing instructions on any rom you are on....
Hope this helps
stock you can do the ##72786# it helped me then i had same issues you had....philz recovery saved the day.....
there are lots you can do with your phone...so....make sure to read and research...and follow all developers instructions.....happy rooting

Root66 firmware is in my thread in development section, link in my sig. Youll find instructions for Odin there and all over the place with a quick search and from the sticky threads. Not being rude, just don't like redoing what's already out there. If you have any specific questions about the process, ill be happy to answer them.

Flashing any recovery or kernel trips the warranty bit. No way around that and no way to reset it I'm sorry to say. Since you've flashed recovery its likely tripped already so flashing kernels and roms won't make any difference anymore. The binary counter doesn't matter as its easily reset. But if you have a custom kernel or recovery it'll retrip to 1 every time you boot.

You can flash Any of these roms via Custom Recovery TWRP and you will do fine.
Do note, some people have mentioned that with a 4.2.x or 4.1.x Roms, sometimes their IMEI goes missing. So take a Nandroid and EFS Backup before hand.

Perseus mentioned the nv (efs) backup before. Easiest way to protect yourself is open a terminal emulator and enter this.
su
reboot nvbackup
Device will reboot and create an internal, hidden backup of your nv data. I highly suggest doing this.

If you mean you made a nandroid backup, that is completely different and does not include any of the NV data. The backup I mentioned is intended to protect you from ever losing your imei in the first place.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/galaxy-s-iii-partition-layout-basic-efs-t1689623
I used this method.
Ok , first, never use anything you find in the international models forum for any US model. They are very, very different devices. If you made an image from mmcblk0p3 as stated in that thread, you actually made a copy of sbl2 I'm pretty sure.
Also, the imei, (the important thing here) is not actually stored on the efs partition as it is in some other devices.
Run the command I posted before for the best solution. If NV corruption is ever detected, it should auto restore from this backup during boot up.
And again, stay away from the international forums. Most of the info there will not apply to our devices here and many, many people have bricked due to that mistake.
And delete the backup you made. If you were to try and restore it to your device after updating it at some point, it would most likely cause a brick.
OK thanks I'll get on that . I flashed a remix ROM and everything seems good right now. I'll try to back it up today.

Read up on Kit Kat, you might not want to upgrade. You will lose write access to the SDCard. There are ways to then fix it, but you could lose function in some of your apps. Samsung finally adopted the Android specs for write access.
Like in the subject.
I upgraded my phone to lollipop (new partition layout)
however I do not like it because it is to slow comparing to previous systems.
There is kitkat for the same partition layout however It is still no the same what I had on Mokee 4.2.2 (i had good settings on that).
So question is there a way to comeback to old system on my Galaxy wonder.
I tried to do it with odin, rollback to 2.3.6. It did install 2.3.6 but it wasn't work properly. Couldn't install anything properly (i guess partition problem stays).
And please don't write thinngs like: "who wants to delete 5.0.1" or "5.0.1 is great system" or similar.
Question is: is there a way to comeback to old system layout on my Galaxy wonder. Can't find that anywhere for galaxy wonder.
Some step by step would be appreciated.
I would like to have possibility to install 2.3.6 up to 4.2.2
Thank you.
Well I see no one knows....
I *think* you need to flash a PIT file with Odin this will set the partition sizes back to their 'stock' values/sizes. I don't know if a pit file for the W exists.....might have to dig around to find one......
If you do find one and Odin flash it, you'll have to re-flash a firmware/rom before attempting to boot the phone as reformatting the memory with a pit file will (at the very least) corrupt the OS but is more likely to erase it completely.....

if u want to restore old backup nandroid, flash back the old recovery 6.0.5.1.
coz new recovery 6.0.5.1 has different partition from the old version.
attach files r old n new versions, flash either old (5.99 mb) or new (5.62 mb).
if cant flash, try rename file wo '-old' or '-new', it is to differential old n new versions.
Try @saintsoh's idea first.....flashing a pit is pretty much a last resort option.....

Yes ODIN is the thing.
When I did install it by ODIN, on the begining phone didn't let me to install anything....
... the trick was to wait untill system will upgrade all google services. After that 2.3.6 was warking fine (that is to all who would like to instal this)
..But any way... finaly I have best combination for me. CM10+hurtsky kernel rev9 - fastest combination for me. It is not for big gaming but, that is the fastest and most battery saving combination which I reached.
..and I will stay on this on that phone.
Thanks for responds.

I have a Note 4 910p which was working fine until i decided to root it with the cf-root method for note 4 available on XDA . everything went fine but i needed root to install few ported stuff from other brands. I wanted to install a ported SONY XPERIA CAMERA , for that i needed a recovery i installed a CWM recovery , i installed the camera and after flashing it and finishing of the work , in the end it asked me if i wanted to root. i didnt know what to do i click okay. so it rooted after that my cell booted and the touch calibration was off . i fixed that by *#2663# code .
the main problem im facing is that after the whole process i cannot install any apks, like i can click the install button but as soon as it starts installing i get an error "App not installed . Package may be corrupted" i thought it was with just one apk file. i tried multiple apks on my cell and other cells. its working on other cells but not on mine. secondly i cannot seem to activate the Private Mode no matter how much i try. i have tried factory resetting it from the OS. ive tried factory reseting it from the CWM recovery. everytime i factory reset the calibration goes whack.
I downloaded 2 different STOCK FIRMWARD Tar files but every time i try installing them , its starts installing and ends with

Please help me.
PS : The Camera Apps From XPERIA package stay no matter how many times i factory reset please help
