Somehow I installed MIUI on my note II then had crazy Data issues..Tried to nandroid back to one of my saved roms and still "searching for service"..Tried a few different tar files to restore stock rom and all but ma7 successfully installed. Could not get data to work but the android reset command got me back on the network. Somehow I end up with Bild number "JZ054K.L900VPAMA7" but Baseband Version "L900VPALJC". How is this possible? I will try rooting then installing Venum or Swamp but Should I be concerned of the strange Baseband version?

So I had no GPS after I flashed the MK2 modem. Can you lose GPS from going from Kit Kat back to Jelly Bean? I was on 4.2.2, then flashed 4.4.2, installed MK2, then decided to go try 4.3. What do you think? I ended up making a complete flash to Samsung Original Stock firmware MDL and finally, I see the birdies.

Totally weird. I just don't know what caused it.

I'm the exact opposite.. I had lost my GPS a few months back. Nothing restored it; different ROMs, GPS status apps from the Play Store, full restore to stock (both MDB and MDL) via Odin, etc. It wasn't until I flashed MK2 modem/bb that my GPS came back. :highfive:

Could you tell me which instructions you used for making the switch to MK2? There seems to be a lot of guides now and I'm in the same position that you were in, so I'd like to use whatever worked for you!

Both this and this do the same thing; I can't remember which exact one I followed, but they both end up with the same result.
Hi. Sorry for asking similar question. Actually I sold my note 2 to someone. At that time i was using 4.3 test build, he downgraded it to 4.1.2 and now signals won't appear/ no network issue. My guess is that EFS folder has been corrupted (no backup). So should I flash a clean 4.1.2 from odin or try flashing any 4.3 to make it work?
Try to flash MJ5,MJ2 Modem.
I don't remember the test build but try all 4.3 Modems.
If you have EFS backup then restore.
Already moved bck to 4.1.2 so why flash the 4.3 modem?

With the mj5 modem, the phone can read the new path for the efs file. He should try it. Nothing to lose.
Correct me if i'm wrong
Currently I am using Sprint's Galaxy Note II SPH-L900 with stock 4.1.2 (MC2) rooted with TWRP installed.
I have been prompted for the new OTA of 4.3. I would like to keep Root and TWRP and update to 4.3. What is the easiest way? Is there a ROM I should use?
I was on stock rooted MC2 like you and I also have TWRP recovery. I simply flashed LorJay's rooted MK4 ROM and I've had zero issues. I decided to try without reverting back to stock un rooted and it worked just fine. I'm not sure why there's a need to un root first... my MK4 ROM flash perfectly and root has never failed. I'd do a nandroid backup first and then decide how you want to go about it from there. Read LorJay's thread in development forum. You can follow his directions or do what i did. It's your choice. But don't take the ota update. When I updated to MK4 rooted ROM I wiped everything even internal storage before flashing LorJay's stock rooted MK4. I've also flashed STS MK4 ROM with no problem. You'll just need to flash the wifi fix with odin (on your pc only) before wifi & hotspot will actually work. Youll need to install odin on your pc if you havent already. Make sure you use the PDA flash button in odin when flashing the wifi fix. Also you will have to unzip the wifi fix zip file before you can use it with odin
Basically LorJay's ROM is mostly stock and STS is debloated. Both have basic and most common tweaks etc. Good luck.

thanks tx_dbs_tx...I was in the same situation. I had 4.1.2 and was rooted. I wanted to try 4.3 rom but was afraid because of the knox issue. after reading that you flashed it like any other rom I decided to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582027 , and it works great. it even has note 3 spen features. I love it. if you wouldn't have tried it I would have not either because I was afraid something was going to happen to my phone. and all that unrooting stuff seemed to difficult for me. thanks again man.

With the rom you just flashed did you need to flash the wifi patch or did it just work with this ROM?

I just tried to use wifi and it doesn't work so I need to flash the wifi fix. everything else works great.
I will do whatever it takes to see if my data is still there. Then I need to get my warranty replacement.
I have a completely stock Note II (AT&T SGH-i317) that I believe is at 4.3 Jelly Bean I317UCUBMK6 (or ***MJ4, I don't know the difference). OTA firmware updates have never worked for my phone since I took it out of the box. Samsung/AT&T have no download link to an official 4.3 that I could use with ODIN to reflash[?] my phone.
I have had connector and battery issues for a while and suddenly last week my phone just hung at the AT&T carrier screen when I turned it on. I tried recovery mode>clear the cache and rebooting to no avail. In recovery it had told me it was unable to mount the EFS. I also saw online that there were, in fact, old leaked roms (4.3) from before 4.3 was released. Can I "flash"[?] to one of these from 4.3 not-leaked official? Again, not trying to lose any data...
I also saw this thread and didn't know if it would help:

Thanks and I will seriously buy you a beer or other preferred beverage/donation if you can help.
Were you rooted when this happened or want to be rooted cuz if you download a stock att rom and flash though odin it should keep everything you have on there

That's the thing though--I attempted to use ODIN with the stock 4.1.2 ROM and it failed. Then I remembered I had 4.3 installed. I can't find a stock AT&T ROM for 4.3 anywhere!

I've been running Jellybomb Domination on 4.1.1 (LJC) for about 3 years now. I started having issues with the phone so I went back to stock. If I want to flash a different custom rom, does it have to be 4.1.1 (LJC)?

Yes, you can flash later versions of Android. Just keep in mind that 4.3 and up will require a fix to make Wi-Fi work.
