What happened to the official HTC AOSP ROM support? - HTC One X

Hey Guys,
I remember a while back something HTC announced regarding a AOSP or stock like ROM to be released with sources, has anyone heard of anything? I mean do the HTC Dev members know much if this is in the works or scrapped? It sounded very promising.

Never heard of this news before :-/
I know Sony Xperia is supporting AOSP for their devices, but not from HTC.
I think they said they will support the community by releasing the kernel source codes and bootloader unlocking.

There was a post that showed a HTC statement that they are "planning" on making a HTC AOSP version or something along those lines. I'm sure one of the guys here can point it out?

HTC dev FAQ
In November 2012 they told to rls a stock Android 4.2.1 for better support for APP devs i think
And than ...... Nothing like always THX htc
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk 2

They never said this. They said there would be a developer rom. It was just stock sense, removing bloatware.

I think OP is referring to https://support.htc.com/alerts_downloads/en/Updates_on_Android_4.1, where it says that:
What about a development version of Android 4.1?
For our developer community, we plan to make generic development ROMs of Jelly Bean available for both the HTC One X and HTC One S. As soon as the ROMs are ready, they will be posted to our HTCdev site (www.htcdev.com). We strongly recommend customers take the time to understand the limitations of the development software along with the terms and conditions on the site before downloading to their device.

dev roms - maybe souce from htc would be great....so thereĀ“s no need for smali edit

I think the most important thing HTC could do now is just give us S-Off

Officially, no, but trough xda developers, yes
Desire HD is more than capable. the problem is with HTC. Somehow i doubt that we will get the official ICS.
What's good about android is that we get to have independent developers developing roms for us so I'm pretty sure we will get an early port for our device once the sources comes out.
Google should start releasing sources now!!!
I think this update will be the reason i finally root my DHD. ICS looks awsome. I'm currently just using the GO Launcher with a honeycomb theme and that looks and feels a damn site better than Sense
no official news by now.
we should wait for sense roms based on ice cream sandwich. I can not live without official sense on my phone personally .
yes, one of the reasons why i rooted my desire HD last week because i know devs will be porting ICS to our phone. can't wait for that to happen. I'll be glad to donate to anyone that will be bringing an early ICS port to our phone

HTC are reviewing ICS because some of the improvments in ICS was brought by Sense on gingerbread, but there is no timeline for any device to get ICS but Cyanogenmod publicly announced no CM9 roms will be out untill the Source is out. they dont fiddle with SDK's

Sorry Mr. Moderator.
Please move my thread or close it.
Regards.
I hope it will come soon officially. I really love HTC and their work but if they keep ignoring previous models to sell the new ones, I will definetely change to samsung or sth else. Making you do things which only they allow is one of the reasons I hate about Apple, which even they are upgrading their previous devices, HTC is acting even worse. I already feel extremely disappointed about Sense 3.0 or 3.5 not coming to DHD officially, that would be too much.
Here is the Nexus Prime dump.
Hope some devs will take it on and port it=)

I'm really glad seeing that developement in Desire HD Section goes that fast forward
But the devs need the source code of ICS , which will be released if the Galaxy Nexus gets released... doesn't they?
SO it will be a matter of time until ics will come on our desire hd's ..
maybe we just waiting the dev to port it to our DHD....

+1 I especially dislike not being able to update my device just because the manufacturer doesn't want me to, lucky we have xda. According to mike the ARHD dev sense 3 and 3.5 will soon come to DHD officially. The current ARHD rom is a leaked official sense 3 rom from HTC.

We will just have to wait and see if HTC provides us with an update to jb I don't care either way since I hate sense anyways. It would be good customer support to supply it in my opinion but for me personally it doesn't make a difference.

Woooo.. Aosp still better than sense lmao. At least we can probably mod the sense kernel that comes with the OTA update and use it for our 4.1 ROMs probably has a lot more stability too

Hello,
The Hungarian support office just told me that it won't get 4.1 update, so I would say this needs to be verified.
Russian support
Russian support in November, I was told that Android 4.1 will not be! only patch for errors.
I talked to HTC USA to file a dissatisfaction complaint about the ONE V not getting Jelly Bean and essentially being EOL after only 7 months on the market; and they confirmed at that time it wouldn't be getting it.
So...the wait starts. **** yeah!

The only official news is that there will be no Jelly Bean for the One V
http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-publishes-jelly-bean-qa-2012-devices-first-excluding-one-v
From the grammar I knew this wasn't true. Do you think when more HTC devices get jellybean that we could start porting stable sense 4.1/4.2 roms?

"google edition" is an official firmware for HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 based on Android Open-Source Project with long-term update policy. That's a "no".
However, there are tons of ROMs for One X based on AOSP. Look it up in appropriate forum section.
Try CM, it is AOSP based. Looks the same as AOSP.
Hm, maybe we should put some pressure on HTC , asking them for release "google edition" ROM for HOX. ROM should be available only as RUU, so only advanced users, who really wants it, will install and use it.

Just read it myself, grim news indeed but that's all she wrote I guess. To be fair to rich is there any more he could do with this Rom? He has took it so far and I thank him for that. Time to look for a new device as future updates either official or Dev will dry up

I just hope maybe other dev will take the project from where Rich left it and provide a few more updates.

Sad moment for hox users, for me best rom, we lost also good kernel devs....this device is dying faster than his older brother Sensation...

HOX isnt lucky at all , once you take a look at its older brother you ca understand what I mean , if you check the HTC Sensation you will find it has much more suport
there you will have a nearly stable KITKAT ROM, not only one 1 kitkat ROM but 3 Kitakat ROM
developers there has been able to write a whole new kernel for Sensation from scratch
Team Venom over there has been able to port Sense5 to Sensation , now my sensation can run 7 different versions of Sense
Our HOX is still young but sadly there isnt much of developer love

It's not because of devs, it's because of tegra, nvidia, htc....tegra is crap for porting, nvidia is bad for drivers, and for htc is hard to relase kernel source code for nearly 4 months....
My other device with is desire hd still got MORE support than my beloved hox(and it's like 4 years old now? :/)... can't believe that the phone "died" in development for only around year and a half activity in that section. Every dev moved out from the phone like it's some kind of epic fail. Maybe it is, dunno anymore... ;(
It's not hard to understand, the phone itself is no epic fail. To me a great phone. The restrictions in hardware make it very hard to port software easy. That's the main reason !
I'll miss viper. I guess its time I go back to good ole stock.
If anyone skilled here can port ViperX+ rom to ONE X, than me and monarx could continue support to ViperX as we would be updating same base, and we would make common rom for both phone's.
Thats just an idea, i have no actual phone to try it my self, even phones are very similar it could be tricky to do it, but no impossible.

Asking For HTC Support

HTC One X was my first ever android phone I bought ,I didnt regret buying an HTC phone since it has a good design and build quality , but HTC is doing it wrong when it comes to Software support and buyer support ,
The life cycle of software support of HTC devices is lower when it's being compared to other devices like Samsung , as Samsung at this moment is working on porting KITKAT to S3 which is similar to HOX in capabilities , at the same time we hear nothing from HTC when it comes to our device
HTC is maybe trying in such a dirty way to stop supporting our device to force us to move to a newer HTC device , but actually that may hurt them more , our HOX has still have a lot of life in it and there is no reason we need to stop using it
If at least HTC is not going to release a newer version of Sense to our device ,it should at least release the latest kernel source which HTC has no right to hide it or keep it away as its after all an open source
I"v been thinking about ways to force HTC to do a little more support for our HOX by going into media, flooding and spamming their media threads to ask them to keep on supporting of our device
HTC at this moment is trying hard to prove its a user friendly and a good customer support company in all of its media as a way of many to get back into market and at least we we can use this point to make it hear us
I have found a couple of ways to do that which including continuous comments is all of it's Facebook pages and beside arranging a good petition page (one is enough ) and keep referring that page back into it's facebook pages again and again
so I need
1- someone who would help us by writing a good petition at www.change.com for HTC and referre it back to us here and then we spread it all over HTC Facebook pages
2-all members of XDA that would like to have more support for HOX should keep commenting , writing , ask for support and referring to petition page all over HTC's facebook pages
here are link for HTC's facebook pages I have found
https://www.facebook.com/HTC
https://www.facebook.com/htcuk
https://www.facebook.com/HTCIndia
https://www.facebook.com/htcusa
and also not to forget their G+ page
https://plus.google.com/+HTC/posts
I know it's kind of spamming but I dont think we have any other way beside that

Read my first post again. We need the sources of the new kernel so devs have a easier job making new roms. Thats how you keep a community alive. Thats why the s3 community is a lot bigger. They take care of that. And i was talking about the hox not the one which only the dev edition is now getting 4.4 while everyone else gets it in january/february. You clearly dont know what you are talking about so inform yourself better if you are going to bash someone elses thread. Dont you think it is weird we aint got a 4.4 rom and all devs are leaving?
Sent from my EndeavorU using Tapatalk 4
im well informed buddy ,devs are leaving because hox was doomed form the beginning with the tegra cpu ,so devs left because no s-off , if you have to blame someone blame nvidia for not releasing newer kernel drivers ,remember htc built the sense 5 4.2.2 update on the old kernel ,i think everyone should be happy with the way htc treated the hox owners ,you basically have a brand new phone now , you want bigger community show as your deving skills and give us s-off ,or better buy gs3 because Samsung take care of devs as you say.

Brand new phone with 4.2.2 when 4.4 was almost out? On a old nvidia kernel after nvidia released the 3.4.10 kernel version for all tegra 3 devices? 90 days which are obligatory by law are now over still no sources still htc did such a good job? So lets say the cm devs are waiting for new sources because they dont know what they are doing? They could make the same job with old kernel? So they are waiting for nothing? S-off would help getting better rom devs? Why because they could flash the boot.img from recovery? Did you check thunders thread? If tegra 3 is so bad why is the nexus 7 on 4.4? Dont we have the same chipset? Is this the end? Yes it is...

the devs are leaving not because of no s-off...because htc doesn't release the kernel source code fast and doesn't update the phone like S3 from samsung...even if i hate samsung and their updates are always not that good...they are still getting newer android...if htc finally would release the f*cking kernel source and would update atleast to 4.4, which would make our phone again to a much powerful phone with again much better battery life then we still were having a good community here...so because there is nothing more to improve or to update really the most devs are buying other phones...and if htc will be keeping that policy, even if they have the most beautiful phones i will never ever buy again a phone from them because of their f*cking policy...
and if you would read not even the best devs were able to get s-off for hox ...nearly no one cares anymore for s.off as for kernel flashing without computer we have kernel lighter... and yup...and the update made the phone not that better...yea it made it better but not so much like it would with 4.4 !
Would be great if a admin could clean this thread so it can start over

Since they have released 4.2.2 it means that they already have the kernel source of 4.2.2, without the kernel source of 4.2.2 ,Sense 5 4.2.2 ROM wouldn't be released
They already have it but they are not releasing it

I was joking.... And yes it is not i illegal for now. They are trying even to take that away from you by demanding carriers to take away the right of users to flash custom roms on their device if they are on a contract.
Anyway i hope some admin can clean this thread

There is a thread for 4.4 support already i think it is a great idea if you would talk to the creator of that thread and ask him if you could put everything into one thread. He has already some sigs so it would be great if you could sign one thing for both sources and 4.4 rom
