[Q] Working OC kernel for stock rom? - HTC One V

I looked around at all the different kernels out in the forum, but i cant decide on what to put on my girls One V. Id prefer the most stable one, since she doesnt mess with her phone like i do mine. Anywho, since i have an HoX, i have no idea what kernel is best, any suggestions?

[Q] Best slide [ROM].

Hey everyone. My wife decided her mytouch slide is a little too laggy for her. I have rooted and flashed HTC phones and my vibrant with great success. I am going to do her phone this weekend but I need some help please. I do NOT follow this forum at all so I have no idea what [ROM]s are stable and functioning for everyone else. If I could please get some input from you guys that have been here and have tested these out it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance
Start with the Slide bible: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704567
Personally, I think this is the easiest root method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754020
If you want Froyo, Cyanogen is very good if you don't need bluetooth: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755118
If bluetooth is important for you, CR_Mod is said to be an excellent 2.1 ROM. I haven't tried it personally, Froyo is too yummy for me to go back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7534187#post7534187
Good luck!
The dopio oc kernels are also very stable esp at 768 and 806. Just use set cpu app to maximize battery life.
The cm nightlies are also usually very stable.
The slide reloaded rom is also a sweet themed version of cr's full ota rom.

Yeah was looking for froyo but not necessary. Looked through the bible but wanted some real world feedback. I'm usually partial to eugene373's roms. But cyanogen is a god. Thanks guys. I'll let it ride for a lil while before I make a decision.

Yeah, for my uses, Cyan with the dopio kernel is the way to go 100%. But you never know, once you get the ENG flashed, let your wife play with all the ROMs she can handle until she finds one she likes. ROM Manager makes it ridiculously easy.
What about the galaxy slide rom by infinitybiff? Anyone tried that? I don't use touch wiz on my vibrant but the wife might like it. Still leaning towards cyan. Just need something fast and stable for her. I'm gonna have to theme it for her myself cause there is no one doing that.

Yes, just make sure you back up first, in case you want to switch back.
cyanogenmod or crmod
I just flashed Galaxy Slide Beta the other day after using CR for the longest time. its the first ROM that i have flashed (and there have been many) that i didn't immediately flash straight back to CR. i am having a minor trouble with the color scheme in the notification pull down and i haven't tried all the features yet... (i.e. bluetooth, tethering, and maybe one or two more) but all in all i love it!

The dopio kernel is integrated into cyanogenmod 6.1+, no need to flash it over again, but other roms you will have to flash it.

Cyanogenmod is froyo, and based off of the AOSP source, so it has a more vanilla flavor to it. CR_Mod is just the rooted stock OTA ROM with a wifi tether, and a2ext built in. CR_Mod is also eclair, it just all depends on what you like better, the latest vanilla customizable stuff, or the more stock HTC sense feel, with all of the t-mobile stuff.

best kernel for stock 2.2 rom?

so, i get a hair up my butt every couple weeks or so and load up a new rom. there are certainly some good ones out there (thanks to all you coders!). but i always wind up going back to stock. between the features of sense and the stability and the non-fc's, it just seems to work best for me.
but, if i could eek a little more performance out of the stock rom, i wouldn't say no to that. so, can anyone recommend a kernel that runs well on the stock rom (no fc's!) and can get me a little more oomph? there seems to be quite a few, and instead of trial and error, i thought someone here might know...
thx!

I am using Inc-Re-Engineered, and so far, I love it. So much faster, completely customizable, and all around kickass.
I would recommend it to anyone.
thx for the suggestion, cleveratticus. not really what i was asking, though...
i have the same question, i dont want to flash a new rom if i can get good kernel that might extend battery life. ive been looking a while and it looks like i might have to finally try the heyitslou kernel
HeyItsLou's #8 never fails me on stock sense/Redemption. Ever.
Awesome battery life, smooth as butter.
ya, but i need multi-touch. well, maybe i dont NEED it, but i want it for games and such

Then try his #7... it supports 3-10 multi touch. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859337
what does 3-10 multi touch mean?? also, are any of these able to be overclocked by setcpu?
it means you can use from 3 to 10 fingers simultaneously.
okay, cool. i got lou's #9 installed and running. thx for the tip, tim.ton.

None of Lou's custom kernels are meant to be overclocked, as far as I know.
If you're looking for one that does, try one of Ziggy's.

I personally like Chad's incredikernals. Great battery and oc'd to 1113
The most stable kernel and best on battery that I have used is the virtuous custom kernel (v3). It has worked great with several roms I have used.
Im running chads 12/23 kernel for sense and it gives me great battery life (which for me is 16-20 hours) and im running magnolia 1.1.1 rom

+1 ...his kernels rock with sense and battery life!!!
Lou's #9 has given best battery life for me on virtuous, redemptive, and warm 2.2 roms. Quadrants scores are also on par if not better with it
not to take anything away from lou or his work, but that kernel wound up not working well for me; lots of hangs and fc's. went back to the stock kernel today and everything is *****en! thx to all for your input.

yap.. some says Tiamat are best with their phone, but it doesnt suit me well,
right now im using LionFish kernel, and it worked like a charm combined with classic 006+ v6 scripts
Hey,
Not trying to be mean but if you cant spell kernel right you probably shouldn't be messing around with them, if you don't know what you are doing you can really cause some hurt to your phone so do some research and see what kernels are and how they work and find the one that suits you best and then give it a flash and see how you like it!
I hope I helped If I did please hit that thanks button!

haha oh yea my bad... i know what im doing its just that my galaxy broke and i had to switch back to my evo
Ahh! that sucks man get that evo up and going! Alright I hope you didnt take it the wrong way I just want to make sure no one messes up their phone you know!
But A lot of people swear by timat kernels for ASOP.
For Sense the Lionfish kernel is getting a lot of love! and it looks pretty sharp I am going to flash it myself!

Best stable working rom?

Hello everyone! I receive my Dinc2 tomorrow and I am coming from the crappy locked down DX2 I was using cm7 on the x2. But since I am new to this device I was wondering what is the best solid running rom with everything working? The cm7 you have now? I would love to try ics but it seems most still have issues? Those I can play with those on my days off but need a solid phone for work.
Last question since I have never had a unlocked bootloader then will stock kernal work with most these roms? I already have the software downloaded to downgrade and s off. I will used the revolution way to do so and get cwr. Thanks in advance and I look forward to using this new device and hopefully meet some nice people like I did on the x2
Also for the record I did search around but being new to this site I was not sure what is up to date.
I recommend SkyRaider Zeus for stability or ICS if you're more daring.
Yo, go miui, I had cm7dx2 and never tried ace's miui, but miui dinc2 is awesome. I use the gb miui 1.12.90 because I like its stability. Never tried ics miui because I fell in love so much I haven't found time to switch!
Coming from cm7 dx2, I didn't think that zeus was as full featured, but hey maybe you'll like it.
And welcome to the community! Congrats on making the jump from big evil moto!

Thanks for the feedback! I have been reading as much as I can since Friday. Downloaded software to get the s off and cwr. I will make a nano back up and try out a rom. Miui I have to admit I tried Dragonzkiller alpha and stayed with cm7. I have heard great things about Miui so I might give it a shot. I know cm7 should also be good. I am just to new to know if there are any other roms better that I never heard of before. Well thanks again back to searching and reading post.

Lol if you have any questions about skyraider don't hesitate to email/pm me. I had that rom from when it was in beta status up until about 2 weeks ago I switched to aeroevans cm9. Skyraider is the most stable sense rom I ever tried.

Nandroid backs up your kernel and rom. So say you nand a sense rom and has a custom kernel for it. And you then flash cm9 with aeros kernel. When you restore the nand you will have sense and the sense kernel again.
Also I ran gb miui from the time we got it till we got ics. If you have any questions about miui shoot me or ubuntunerd a pm.

For miui you can do stock. I used aeros kernels back then. Now I use them on his ics rom. His v9 kernel works for aosp gb too so try it out.
Also one thing I do in miui is use with go launcher. Or create a folder in the stock launcher to use as an "app drawer"
Another rarely told thing is this phone is over clock able to 1.8 but best performance is around 1.5 and most ppl stay around 1.2 with the smartassv2 or on demand.
Anything else just search and ask me if you can't find it. Most of the x2 guys have been pretty good so far. Glad to have y'all here

Is it a significant difference if you overclock to 1.2Ghz? Mine is currently running on 1GHz, and I was worried about the battery life then.
Thank you all specially Knipp21 and litetaker. You both helped me out alot. I flashed miui in a matter of minutes. Looked very sweet but so new to me I am not sure how to get it set up and stable for me yet. So I will come back to it. Then flashed the CM7 what I am used to so I can get it ready for work tomorrow. I look forward to flashing different roms and wven trying the ICS. I love the fact that the nano backups actually change the kernal as well this phone is bad ass!

Yup. Agree with fekle. CM9 is the best rom I'd flashed so far. But I revert back to leedroid Because the sense camera is much better. Try Franco's kernel by the way. Give me excellent battery life compared to stock or other kernels

Somehow they are all the same. None of them stands out. Except the themed ones of course. But I miss the wow factor. Something new. It seems like all the devs (or tweakers?) copy each others work, so we ended up having 4 of the same ROM. Only with different names.
Sorry if I offended anyone, but that is just how I see it. I am no dev.
