I am currently using the PacMan rom, it is an excellent rom, but I am not satisfied with the battery life I am getting with it. For some reason, when I put my phone to rest the battery gets drained dramatically. Any idea on how to fix this?

There's one problem with your inquiry, everyone uses their phone differently. So during "regular use" for me, my phone is under 60% in about 4 hours. There was one day where I checked my phone about once or twice an hour, and my battery was at 52% at a total of over 12 hours off the charger.
Main point is, what you may consider heavy use, light use, etc could be different than what I consider heavy use.

+1 for slim rom.
I tried PAC and it was great, but so many features I thought it slowed it down some and used extra battery. have been happy with battery on slim rom.
slim rom can be a little weird to install, but after a couple tries I got it running great.

Since my last post went completely off topic and hopefully will be deleted soon I am going to try again. I flashed CM7 last night and ran a battery calibration and I only had a 4hr 19min battery life with moderate use I updated my radios but my baseband still says 2.15.00.05.02 Instead of 2.15.00.08.02 did I do something wrong in the flash? I put it in the root of my SD card and flashed it just as I would with any zip. Here is the screenshots from my test.

Yea that is definitley not normal batt life. I'm not saying mine is great, but usually i can go a day on my batt with light to moderate usage. Usually just checking fb, xda, mikmik, and a few minutes of internet surfing
Yeah battery life was right about the same I never tested it. It was sprint lovers rom. I have a new battery coming in as soon as tomorrow so I'll test it again once I get it. Is there any suggestions for things I might try?

I don't think it reports kernel processes there so it may be normal, just we've never seen it.
If you show cpu usage in dev options though you will see many of those being used constantly, which is normal.
I'm thinking that TW doesn't report it by default because its the kernel and will probably always be running more than anything else.
Its a guess anyway!

Calibrate battery if that's a new ROM give it a few days. My phone sucks battery no matter what kernel or battery. Just ordered an extended one a few hours ago. Hopefully, by the time i move to the fifth generation galaxy device, this retard battery issue will be solved

If your are planning to get a battery extension i suggest get the 3000 mAh of samsung this Jan 5th that would increase your battery life up to 49% (i read that here in XDA idk where is it but its true ) and also try TRINITY kernel would be awsome if you done like it you could revert back to lean - its only a suggestion
EDIT:
Is this your 1st battery cycle in this rom? usually that is normal the following charging cycle would be stable from what you expect

it hasn't. I'll give trinity kernel a try, thanks.

I went with the qcell extended battery, currently running the Aeonfluxx v6 rom. On heavy use days I usually have 50% battery left. My stock battery didnt last 6 hrs before. The sg3 is my second Samsung phone, and both sucked with battery life.
