[Q] CM7 Questions?

Which CM should I run? A stable or a nightly?
Also, how well does it work?
Depends on you. The stable version is stable, has everything working. The latest nightly has all that, and additional fixes, ect. I would recommend the latest nightly, though if you were to have trouble [which you shouldn't], bump back to the latest stable version.
If you're new to rooting and custom roms, always start out with a "stable" version and yes, it works quite well. Also, feel free to try SalvageMod 1.2.1.

so does the nightly basically fix the problems of the latest stable while the devs work on the upcoming stable?

Well the stable is more of like a shelf as in "everything works at this point" print. So the stable, you should have no issues.
The nightlies are tweaks to that stable version to make it even more better, so there is a chance you COULD run into a small bug on it, which would be fixed in the following nightly.

could someone provide a reliable download link for the CM7 stable?
the nightlies are pretty stable, akin a few bugs here and there, try the stable if your new to custom roms, once you get comfortable try the nightlies, see what works best for you.

Best to bookmark it. The lastest stable is the 3rd file down. When first flashing CM7, you also need to flash the latest gapps with it.

nevermind that, they work. how do i install the gapps? i'm new to the whole gapps concept.
Cranky post edited.
As for gapps, you flash after CM7 so in recovery do the following.
-In your current rom, backup all your apps with titanium backup
-boot into recovery, backup your current rom
-wipe factory/data, cache, and dalvik cache [under advanced in clockwork]
-install zip from sdcard
-navigate and install your version of CM7
-"go back", wipe cache and dalvik again, then flash the gapps
reboot
Gapps is google apps, which allows your market, gmail, ect, to work.

Anyone on the official CM10.1 RC1 or RC2 ?
Any important bugs or features that don't work?

I don't have the time to play around with my phone all day, so i'd prefer to know beforehand whether or not I should go to CM or stay on stock
anyway thanks for the helpful reply..
Official CM is at nightly stage.Flash the latest one and that's it.Even if you flash future builds it won't affect your apps.

[Q] GApps for Pac-Rom

I use the PA Gapps and don't seem to have an issue, but since they don't specify i don't think it really matters which Gapps you use. I think the 20130813 is probably the intended default Gapps to go to.

Cyanogenmod 10.2 and cusotm kernel

Don't know if this is the place to ask, but I need some help.
I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.2 (latest nightly) on my GNex (GSM), and tried installing a custom kernel (Franco kernel), but when I boot, the message "com.android.phone has stopped working" keeps popping. After reflashing original (CM) kernel, the mesage stops popping. Same happens with other kernels (tried Fancy and Trinity).
Any idea as to what might help?
Thanks.

Its cm10.2 not cm11
@Jujo12 what exactly did you do when you flashed it? What order and what wiped? (Just for my information: cm10.2 is Android 4.3 right?)
Did you flash the right versions of the kernels? (No I do not think youre retarded or something)

CM10.2 is Android 4.3.1
Wiped cache and dalvik cache, then flashed kernel. Tried with different kernels. To fix, I have to reflash the CM (which installs the original CM kernel)

Check other kernels if they will work.

experiencing the same problem... franco kernel r392 and cyanogenmod nightly 10.2-20131121. coming from a clean install, cleaned cache and dalvik, looks like some kind of incompatibility...
Dudes, there is a fixed version by @osm0sis that specifically fixes the telephony FC problem on CM10.2.
I hate asking you to search, so here it is: http://d-h.st/KOd

What is ROM you are using now? No, gapps is the project of CyanogenMod team, they (apps) are not uploaded to Google Play. Instead they (CyanogenMod team) have a repository to upload an updated gapps.
i have CM10 final version installed from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990795
and the gapps version there is gapps-jb-20121011-signed
in the cm10.2 thread there is gapps-jb-4.3-20131116-signed
probably they sotpped updating the CM10 thread so no newer gapps will be posted there.
is it ok to use the newer file on CM10?
Gapps should be flashed together or after a new ROM is installed in pristined way, atleast according to arsradu.
Edit: And gapps in 4.3 are somewhat different from 4.2/4.1.
