So.. As the title says, accelerometer on my Desire is not working any more.. I tried few roms, hard and soft resets, putting the battery out for some time and nothing.. Is there any way to check if this is software or hardware problem? Or is my phone just dying?.. Currently on CyanoMod007 4.2.2 v02
If you tried several roms, then it's hardware related

it has been a few days since this problem started.
when i dont use the phone let's say for an hour, when i try to unlock it, the touchscreen is not working and i have to slightly open the gamepad in order to work.
i am afraid it might be a hardware problem because i have tried flashing the 62 firmware again, changing roms (miui, stock based GB roms), changing kernels but problem still remains
I have this problem too on my sk17i! tried changing the roms too even tried the stock
the only difference is mine doesn't work at all even if i try to open the HW keyboard

Hi there !
My Xperia S has been quiet slower ever since the problem appear, the wifi wouldn't turn on, button just freezes trying to work.
I have changed several custom roms and kernels and nothing worked sometimes a normal factory reset let the wifi work for 1 day (I thought that this will exclude the hardware problem ?). I know the tricks that consists into wiping the data\misc\dhcp directory but this won't work neither; I really can't see what is wrong; do you guys have any idea ? So if hardware though i don't think it's that wich piece is it ? (i've taken evrything out of my phone cleaned and reassembled but nothin made it .. :/ ) and if software, which firmware is the right one ?
(by the way XDA is just great)
Thanks
I noticed that for some unknown reason my accelerometer and gyroscope just stopped working. I have managed to fix it and thought I would just give my story in case anyone else has this problem.
I did drop my phone but not badly and it landed on a relatively soft floor.
I tried factory resetting battery, pull, and full wipe and reinstall of custom roms. NONE of these options worked.
The only thing that managed to reset it was doing an update through Odin with an official samsung rom 4.4 that I downloaded from samsung
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
This was the only way to reset the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, it also updated the baseband version to a kitkat 4.4 compatible one so I suspect if I do go back to the custom roms again (I was on Carbon Rom) this baseband update will stay with the device.
Anyway it is all working now and I am very happy the updated samsung rom in much much better and more debugged than the stock rom that it had when I got it so I think I am going to try it out for a while and see how it goes I will undoubtedly go back to custom roms but in terms of recovery it is nice to know that a flash of the official rom will truely and fully reset and calibrate the sensors like the gyroscope and accelerometer.
cheers
