I've tried to wipe cash... nothing changed..
My Phone info:

I need to solve this problem without losting any of my data... sms, photos, files, apps, and specially it's data.
Is it possible to install rom without formating and flashing the current rom? i don't have custom recovery btw.. it's the original Android, so i don't have backup command in it's menu.. only read from ADB, read from USB, flash data, flash cash.
Please help, i'm ready for any consequences... PLEASE! :crying:
(Sorry for bad english!) :cyclops:
update
i've tried to install "clockworkmod recovery" from the fastboot, it says installed successfully, then it need restart..
but while my phone didn't complate the starting up, i've removed the battery then back to recovery mod... but the problem is stock recovery still in!!! and there's nothing updated!!!
I've installed "Clockworkmod" also I've tried "TWRP" and made a backup on internal storage...
but it doesn't matter!! cuz i can't mount this memory on pc to copy these files.. cuz the SDCARD is only folder in internal memory for galaxy nexus!!
i need to copy my files from SDCARD folder to my PC... Any Help!!!
You may want to try to flash system img through fastboot. You don't need a custom custom recovery to do that. There should be a sticky in one of the gnex sections on how to do it. Make sure you always make a backup before changing anything in the system partition, this stuff happens and that is the only way to restore without losing the data that you are not wanting to lose.

I have been busy today with a nasty problem, i hope you anyone can help me out.
I was running JDROID's custom rom with great satisfaction, had it backupped. The trouble started when i downloaded an other rom and forgot to place the rom (.zip) on my sdcard before i flashed the boot.img via flashboot.
By that time i didnt knew how to use ADB commands, so i decided that i would forget about the new rom and i would restore my working backup. (im using CWM)
After restoring that backup a bootloop occured, so tried lots of things like wiping the cache. Also ive tried to restore the backup after lots of full wipes ect. Even installing JDROID's latest rom witch i had on my sdcard dindt help. Still had a bootloop.
I managed to use ADB when my phone was switched off, and i pushed a rom.zip to sdcard. But CWM cant seem to find it.
My question is this: in CWM there is an option to "mount USB storage". When i use it i get the message "unable to open ums lunfile". I have tried formatting the sdcard, whereby i deleted my backups still didnt work.
What whould you guys try next?
relock the bootloader and run an ruu appropriate to your cid
Ok I have made the stupidest and idiotic attempt to upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.1 jelly bean on GSM Galaxy Nexus.
Basically, my phone was already rooted and unlocked, so I made a nandroid copy and off I went into recovery mode, trying to install the yakju zip file to manually update the firmware.
After I installed it and rebooted, it seems like it wasn't installed on some sort of internal storage that was only 66mb and I have lost my SD card and no user settings can be saved onto it. I realised this because if I went into recovery mode again and reboot normally, I will have to go through the initial setup all over again!!! At this point, if I tried to go back to nandroid copy, I could have done so easily.
BUT I made the mistake of trying to wipe all user data again and now everything on my SD card has been wiped out, including my nandroid copy and the ability to restore my nandroid back up!!! So if i tried to flash clockwork recovery image and restore, there is nothing in there for me to restore.... and I don't have access to the 13gb SD storage from phone or computer!!
Someone please help??!! At least I just want my old ICS system back!
Post 3 of my guide.
Push a rom and flash it.
Or flash stock images.

Could you be a bit more specific because I don't know how to push a rom or flash it and I can't find my SD card storage either
you clearly didnt read post 3 of juba's guide
I'll try to sum Jubakuba's guide up for you.
1. Boot into bootloader.
2. Select recovery.
3. adb push a ROM-Zip-file from your PC to /data/media/ (adb push $(/path/to/ROM.zip) /data/media/
3.1 Reboot recovery. (adb reboot recovery)
4. Install it like you'd install any other ROM.

Sorry for my bad English.

You can start the phone and go through the initial set up?
The trouble is your sd is wiped and you can't see it on your computer?

Humn, I read it as he couldn't do anything.
But if that isn't the case...
Yeah, dude...your data is gone.

Yip, i think he data wiped after flashing the up date = data gone and will have to start new.
Should still be able to see sd on computer.
Wiping data doesn't wipe the sd card, where did the upgrade come from? this may have wiped the card.
Try re-flashing a stock rom, root, unlock, flash recovery.
The GNex Toolkit makes it easy to do all these.
Hi,
I'm new here and I'd like to install a new ROM on my Gio but I want to make sure I know what I'm doing before trying something and bricking my phone.
ClockWorkMod
I installed CWM v5.2.0.6 (followed the instructions here). Is this ok, or do I need to install v5.0.2.7? And if I do need a newer version, is there a way to get an update or do I have to follow the same steps as before?
1.Download the CWM 5.0 v2 and copy to the Root (not in any folder) of your SD card
2. Put your phone in recovery Mode(press: Home button + Power button toghether)
3. In recovery mode, select the downloaded file from SD-card(Use Volume keys to navigate and home button for enter).
4. Search for the root gb updated.zip file on your SD-card
5. Run the update
6. Reboot

I tried creating a backup with the CWM version I have, but I get this error: "Can't mount /system".
CWM does create a folder in sdcard/ clockworkmod/ backup/ date, but it only contains the following files:
recovery.img and boot.img.
However, this post says I should actually have more files in the backup folder:
.android_secure.vfat.tar ,boot.img , cache.ext4.tar , data.ext4.tar , nandroid.md5 , recovery.img, system.ext4.tar.
Is this because of my CWM version? Or maybe because I still have the operating system that came with my device (+updates)?
What I really want to know is: can I rely on this backup, will it work?
ROMs
I want to install CM10.1.5 from here, but I have many questions and I don't really know where to look for answers. (Sorry, I really am a complete noob.)
What's the difference between androidarmv6 jenkins build and mardon build? And what's the difference between the 3 versions? Can I just install the Version with CM-Superuser and not worry about it?
Should the updates be installed via CWM - apply update from SDcard? What about the additions - CWM --> install zip from SDcard?
How can I install extras if they are "not CWM flashable"?
What happens to my apps when I install a new ROM? Do I have to install them all again? Is all data lost? Or will they all be restored from my google account and the SD card or something like that?
Finally, how can I use the ext2 partition in my SDcard to install apps? Is this function included in the ROM? Or do I need to install something else? a2sd darktremor? If yes, how (I find the instructions here confusing and overwhelming, and the post is old, so probably outdated)? Or should I use the "Link2SD" addition to the ROM?
I'm sorry for asking so much, but I'm feeling kind of lost.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone?
I've continued trying to figure things out when I have time. I'll post what I find in this thread, in case someone else comes here looking for answers to similar doubts/problems.
In trying to understand what's going on with ClockWorkMod Recovery, I found this very useful link:
wwwDOTtechbiiDOTcom / cwm-recovery-cant-mount-system-error-solution-how-to/
(sorry for the DOTs and spaces, can't post outside links yet)
CWM Recovery – Can’t Mount System Error Solution [How To]
(...)
The error is an expected one and happens generally when you are trying to backup a stock ROM using the clock work mod recovery. Please, note that you can’t do a completed nandroid backup of a stock firmwares. So, just install any custom ROM and then you can backup and restore anytime.

If I understood correctly, the best (only?) way to return to stock ROM is to install Odin or similar firmware flashing tool and to get the stock firmware from sites like sammobile.com and sampro.pl. However, it also says that not all firmwares might be available and I haven't looked more into it all of this yet.
Did you root your phone yet?
That should solve the problem from the can't mount system, data, etc
If you need more information, then look at this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397120

Yes, I used the instructions there to root my phone and install CWM (v5.0.2.6), but that thread is 2 years old, so I'm afraid it won't be up to date in relation to certain things. For example, I did create an ext2 partition on my SD card using those instructions, but I found an easier way to move apps from my phone to the SDcard (using the link2SD app, available on Google Play). The information about ROMs is also not up to date.
If you want to install a custom rom just
-wipe data factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-advance>wipe dalvik cache
-install zip from sdcard
-reboot
NOTE: the zip is the rom

Thank you.
My main concern at the moment is how to restore my original ROM if something should go wrong, though. I've found some interesting information in this thread but I've been busy this week and I'll need to go back and read it all with more attention before I try something.
Download ODIN 4.42 and GIO ops and a sotckrom MD5 file then put it into the odin and put your phone into recovery mdoe and plug it into your computer. Then click start
you have to put your phone in downloadmode to flash with odin as far as i know,but i have an other question;
can you use heimdall with the samsung galaxy gio
I am trying to flash a new recovery on my samsung galaxy gio with ODIN after it is bricked flashing tass- 6.0.4.5.zip(this cwm seems for the mini!!!) is this possible and if so,which one can?and how to do that...
thanks in advance
Yes it is possible and you need ODIN 4.42, GiPS and a Stock Rom extracted out of the zip.
Here is a video to help you because I am too lazy to explain

Hi there. Before starting this is the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/galaxy-nexus-maguro-i9250-bootloop-t3515690
so forgive me if i re-post a thread about the same problem but i'm freaking out so try to understand me. I have this phone from 4 years, i've solved different type of problem but this time seems that i can't get out.i'm so stupid i know because take a malware, very bad i think, from a simil-message of whatsapp about damaged chat. I came back from the job, i was tired and i didn't pay attention to the message. Click the windo say to restore backup because chat was damaged and there the nightmare. My nexus gone in bootloop. So i make a nandroid backup and transfered it to my pc with sub, conneted with otg cable. Pass nandroid on my pc with karspersky and malware bytes. No virus, but in my phone i can't formatting all, install anything, copy anything into it. Just copy from it to the pc. I check fastboot and adb cmd they works but can't permit me to copy or flashing rom ecc. I just try odin, nexus root toolkit (NRT), and the solution about the brick even if my phone can go in dowloading mode or recovery or bootloader mode so it doesn't die but it is for me. Odin says the procedure has been good, same NRT but when device restarts nothing is changed. Same bootloop aboutthe rom, omnirom, same File into internal storage. Factory reset, factory/formatting data didn't work. Wipe sy
system, internal storage, nothing. There's always a file that will be update and every action i do it falls out. It is in folder data\system\netstat with a number different by the other are in the same folder. Maybe i miss some procedure or i wrong do it. Someone can hel pe please?. I follow this community because i like android world and 4 years ago i buought my first android phone and my first nexus. I don't want say it goodbay if i can save it. For 1 week, sleeping 5 hours a day, i can't resolve this problem. Can u help me? Thanks a lot.
Galaxy nexus GSM maguro with omnirom 4.4.4 with gapps 4.4.2 stock.
Update
Maybe i wrong something but before i try to install new rom or make a full wipe, i use twrp, which partition in mount section need to be checked? There are system, data, cache, usb otg. I think that if i should wipe for example davilk cache, cache and data to update a new rom, in mount section data and cache need to be checked wright? Because if they are not checked i couldn't re-write the new rom. Yesterday seemed i was able to delete some partition because the mb of internal storage were changed. Try update to twrp 3.0.2 but i'm still with 2.8.7. Repeat maybe i wrong some passage so i can't flash or update anything. So how does mount section works? Which partition need to be always checked?
Thanks.
Hi,
currently I am running CyanogenMod 13 on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (serranoltexx). Now, as it get's outdated and insecure, I am about to update it to LineageOS. But I am worried, because I can't just flash the ROM over CM, but I have to wipe everything. Sure, I can take backups of all my data, but my question is:
What do I have to select in Clockworkmod Recovery in order to clean up for LineageOS? And the second point is that I parted my SD-Card to use Android's option to emulate one partition as internal storage. So if I wipe, can I keep the partitions and what do I have to save before?
Oh and.. I have tried to do a Nandroid Backup, but I can't copy it onto my PC because the storage is mounted differently within CyanogenMod (the 2 partitions I wrote about) and ADB doesn't work for this either.
I hope somebody can help me
Done! /ReqClose
Hi,
I'm glad to say that I have done it yesterday. The thread can be closed and for all who have the same questions I had:
First of all I took a backup of all my data (Apps, Music, Photos etc) and put LineageOS, GApps & SuperSU on my SD-Card. Then I booted into my recovery (CWM) and wiped all data. Unfortunately it didn't work (CWM said something like "error in lineageos.zip") so I decided to use TWRP for it. There was just an unofficial build but I didn't care too much, so I used this one. It was an img file, so I needed to convert it to .tar.md5 first using a tool I found in the Internet. So I flashed TWRP then using Odin. When I booted into TWRP everything seemed to work, but when I tried to install the zip file it just rebooted immediately without an installation. So I finally used ADB sideload, and it finally worked! Now my phone is working fine!
Hope this helps someone!!
