so guys,
i started with spending my time into saving money for an ace 2, now i consider to buy a version,
but are all roms, mods, etc are aswell aviable for i8160 version or is there any difference between hardware related things out of nfc?
thanks already to guys who can answer my crappy question!
ROMs are different from standard i8160. I suggest buying standard version.

shh he must buy ace 2 (that means 1 more developer for us )
And yeah I suggest buying standard version too, I dun think NFC is that much needed.
Buy I8160 without P.
yeah, buy standard i8160... 'cause i think most of people here use a non-nfc ver.
CMIIW. just correct me. please.
I have 8160P and so far all custom ROMs and kernels for non-P version worked for me (except NFC, but who needs that?). I just had to change tee folder to make SIM working with them (this same applies to L version). The only problem is that you can't flash the samsung's official ROM from other version because it will hardbrick your device (most probably diferent radios).

Maybe if you buy nfc version you can develop for the standard version too, looks like the difference only on the nfc chip availability
But of course I would recommend to buy the standard version,
Can't wait to see you developing for us

Hope you will join us to develop great roms

Hi fifo171,
I have another GT~I8160P but don't know how to flash an specific GT~I8160 version for my P (with NFC) model.

Anyone knows how to flash my GT-I8160P using new JB ROMs from GT-I8160?
I would like to use new JB from GT-I8160 in my Samsung NFC version but I am not confident about if normal process using Odin will work, I think flashing new Android v4.1.2 could damage my smarphone. I heard it may be dangerous if partitions change and new ROM don't include an appropriate PIT file.

Hello,
Since there is no custom rom for LTE, i was wondering what is the reason behind that. Are the firmware files for the N7105 device not available or is the source closed unlike N7100. I am currently looking to buy the LTE version, however if the custom rom wont come i will rather go for the N7100 version.
Cheers
PS: I have never owned an android device before and currently use the Nokia N900 (running maemo linux)
1) There is a stock, rooted, deoxed rom available.
2) Samsung have hindered asop development at every pass so support is low.
3) Touchwiz is VASTLY improvesd. No where near perfect but most people are happy.
4) The devs are busy working on the 7100 which is understandable so give them time.
5) The other idea is a patch to make n7100 work. (But it's looking like the changes are more than skin deep.)

I'll be looking to list any XDA N7105 ROMs on my site when they are available. I'm picking up my Note 2 this Friday 16th November.:good:
Helo, can someone tell my what is the best rom for the Samsung galaxy note 2?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
i think you need to stipulate what you are looking for from your rom / phone.
stock look (how samsung want it to look and behave) , android look ( how google made it to look and behave),
3rd party interface made by someone here.
stability or cutting edge/new tweaks that may have bugs but be the newest of the new...
That mainly comes to down to your preferences. If you want the stock look and want to preserve s-pen functionalities and Samsung features, then I'd recommend Android revolution HD.

Hi, I am following the forum since i first bought my first android device the Note 2(n7100) on the day of its launch, i was earlier afraid of rooting with the risks involved.
But i have just rooted the phone yesterday, and flashed with ROOTBOX rom with seperate GAPPS installation.
though i am in absolute awe of the stock JB ROM, but still feel need for SPen apps, also i do feel that the camera quality has gone down, with images coming a lot more grainy even indoors in proper lighting.
I am also looking for a ROM with 4.2.1 JB but dont want to compromise on Camera Quality, i have read that there are few apps which help in SPen compatibility etc.
.
Did you try the roms suggested by experts, wht are your thoughts about them.
Anyways, sorry for the long post, its my first one, so all the excitement and amazement of flashing is keeping my typing.

The best one would be the one with the best battery life, performance small size, no bloat, a ton ofnew functions, great developer support and kept up to date all the time.

omega rom rocks
I'm also searching for the best ROM. I'm using omega currently but somehow it is battery drain for me, it's battery life can't even last for one day with 3g and heavily use in camera, facebook and whatsapp. I was using another called Mr. Luong. This rom is able to provide a good battery life which can last for more than one day. The problem I change is because the laggy problem and unstable under multi windows. Anyway, I'm still expecting omega can release a better version, v12. I'm still waiting for it
Wanam2.8 for simplicity and closest to Samsung.
Phoenix6.5 for beauty.

Here you go.

Uv and oc are kernel related.
All the roms that say dll7 or dma3 or dma5 or dma6 dmb4 etc all support s pen and features
Also look into the description.
Anything that says based on samsung firmware has all s pen features.

Android revolution HD , simplistic framework and stock kernel . Andro I d revolution rom is the best rom ever according to battery life , performace and stability . Not even a single lag or fc with any stock or third party apps .

Omega v15 Best Rom for N7100,
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all waiting for the big news!!!!!!
Hello all,
Is there a ROM that exists for 7105 that has 422 and the samsung apps ? Or at least replacement apps for the stylus app and handwritten text recognition and the samsung keyboard where the numbers are always there ?
I understand the idea behind the CM rom which is to keep it identical on all devices but to me it takes out the great advantage of the 7105 which is the stylus, i find it very convenient to write with the stylus and if it's not possible because CM devs don't want to adapt their rom to this particular feature I have to look somewhere else.
The roms based on 412 are good but they would be better with a 422 base
In the worst case are there any plans from Samsung to release a 422 rom or are we forgotten now that they've switched their focus to the SG4 ?
I come from HTC with a DHD and what the devs are making with this device is truly amazing like having roms BASED on CM but modded to adapt them to the DHD and so I was wondering if it was possible to get the same system on the 7105 ?
Thanks a lot
It is not possible. It's not the devs.

Hello,
Thanks for the bad news, better than no news I guess
Just out of curiosity, what's the ptoblem ?
The samsung specific drivers from the spen wont work in 422 (but do in 412) ?
Thanks
No its the proprietary touch wiz code.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Ah, so we need a touchwiz code which is compatible with 422 or is it impossible to extract the touchwiz code from the official roms ?
Sorry for the stupid questions but I'm trying to learn something there
Would it help if we start some noise with Samsung for them to work on their code from 412 so that it can be used in 422 ? After all there must not be that many differences in this specific area from 412 to 422 ?
Thanks
Edit : Apparently Samsung will release 422 for SGS3 and SGN2 in "May-June"....good
I think extracting the code would cause legal problems or something and the code is not cross compatible between android version.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
OK, thanks for the news, since Samsung SHOULD (that's what they've said) update the devices in "may/june" I'll just wait for that and use CM without the samsung apps or cleanrom ace without the 422 goodies.....Life is hard....
But then again, it's just a phone ha ha ha
FYI a dual boot kernel is being worked upon by using which you can run both samsung and custom firmware.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Argh ...
Shame on you, now you've got me all winded up again, I was ready to calm down and wait UP TO 2 MONTHS, but of course now I want this dual boot kernel NOW !!!
Your fault
So....hem....where can I find some infos on this ?
Thanks

Hello, I will like to know if there is any android 4.4.x rom for the xperia S/SL that has the HDMI output working as well both cameras, until now I had tried Paranoid android beta 4 and Carbon the first one works flawless but has no HDMI and the second one is given me a blurry and bad signal trough the HDMI output.
Before keep installing a reinstalling roms I will like to hear any advice about any stable 4.4.X rom out there or at least any rom with HD camera recording, 3d graphic and HDMI output working.
Thank you.
We are on the same page bro. Been looking for that too.
And maybe any rom that has the radio drivers installed. cant believe now that i don hav that i actually want to use it
HDMI and FM radio, as well as many other features depend on the chipset OEM (Qualcomm) drivers. They offer support up to some Android version (last stock JB?), but AFAIK KitKat is not and will never be supported. They could also open the source code/spec for the drivers, which will enable the community to fix those issues, but I seriously doubt they will even consider it.

Sad but hey the google nexus 5 also has a snapdragon inside, that means there will be no future support for the nexus 5? I doubt that, there must be a way to get us those drivers.
Can I ask why the drivers are so important?? Why they cant be ported or rewritten by some dev? Like the drivers on linux, all are free and open, wtirren by devs and users. Is it impossible to write a driver for a snapdragon?
Sorry for my questions, im a noob

It is not impossible.
What devs COULD do is reverse engineer the drivers from 4.1.2 to 4.4 or whatever, but that would be REALLY hard, and take a LOT of time and tries. It simply does not worth the process.
But I think HDMI and FM Radio should come from Sony, not Qualcomm, not sure.

well, so there wasour hope ;d. I bet sony already forgot that they ever made Xperia S... Thay are making so many phones now... thats just crazy, if some1 buy flagship sony just after 2-3 months he had 2nd best of their models. thats insane. They havent even made kitkat for most of their current "flagships" yet. Xperia s [*].
BTW. Love u xda Devs, you are a little star that gives us hope to use nice phone even more efficient and cool than before .
PS. God i hate that 10post req for responding in dev-s threads... i have so many questions about my pureslim kitkat ;/.
I am tempted into sell my phone to buy a new one, but is so sad because I think Xperias in general have a pretty good hardware, my next phone will be a nexus or who knows... Maybe I will end up selling my soul to Apple at least they have longer support for any older phone...
The thing is I love to hack my phones that's why I got an Android in first place.

Hello,
I am using xperia zl 4.1.2, rooted since few months, I want to give away this mobile for replacement for ir issue, I am planning to buy 64 gb card, can anyone help me if 4.1.2 supports that? Read in the change log of 4.2.2 that support for 64gb is added, but many claim otherwise. I dont want to update because rooting for 4.2/4.3 requires flashing (doomlord/nuts etc) which I dont want to risk now and I require root access for few important things. Thanks in advance.
