I'm on liquidsmooth and I've tried the trevemod WiFi tether as well as the one in the play store and every time it starts it says started with errors unless I change the setup to netd(master) but then it still doesn't even show up on my tablet. Any suggestions?

Could be a bad flash or download
Check md5sum and try a clean flash

I had the same issue but stopped and restarted it a few times setting up ssid and password and it did eventually showed up.
Make sure you are using SuperSU as opposed to any other superuser app, I can confirm this is a requirement. Also grab the Treve version, clear app data and try to start it with 100% default settings.

You can just use the built-in wifi tethering with AOSP ROMs. No need to install anything extra. Works great.
So I had to get a replacement Note 2 from T-mobile because my first one had messed up sensors or something. When I got the new one I wanted to backup and restore all my apps from the original.I used Odin to flash CF auto root and do a app and system backup. Then I rooted to the new one the same way and did a restore. I apparently didn't read enough about Titanium backup and restored everything including the system stuff.*Now my data doesn't work most of the time. Specifically when my phone says 4g, no matter how many bars, nothing has network access. I can make and receive calls and text messages although calls have been very spotty with reception. However if I have 4g LTE signal then everything works great. Can anyone suggest a fix? I flashed the stock rom again and reset APN settings to default, nothing is different. Side note, I was able to reset flash, unroot and return the old phone to T-mobile. Any help is greatly appreciated
Have you tried a factory reset?

I did do a factory reset after flashing the stock ROM. Both through the settings menu and by booting into recovery. No change.

Am I really the only one that has had this problem with titanium backup? I read a lot before rooting, but apparently not quite enough. Please, if anyone has any ideas or has had this problem, a little help would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to have to send back another phone espevially one that is otherwise perfect. Everything is great when im on wifi or LTE, but 4g gets me nothing. Thanks

Had that same problem with a port I did, trying to find a solution to it. Once I do I'll let you know.

I don't think that this video is related to my problem. I can make and receive calls and texts with 4g or lte. However I have no mobile data connection whenever I am connected with 4g. All apps report no connection. When I have lte signal all apps work with no problem. Also my imei number is not gone, it is in there correctly.

Just an idea here. ...
Do you have an Add Block app of any kind? If you do, try to turn it off and see if that is the problem.
I had one that blocked my data, but only on Wi Fi. It took me several days until I found the problem.
Good luck.
Hit my "THANKS" button! Come on, you can do it!
i had similar problem
my settings were set to LTE only in factory menu.
so i would get internet only if LTE signal was available.

Have never had an adblock app of any kind. I know for sure that the problem was caused by me restoring all system apps from titanium backup.

I went to *#*#4636#*#*
Then network settings
Those settings don't seem to be available on my phone. Nothing happens when I type that in.

Because that code is wrong.
Here is the good one:

Thanks, that code works to bring up the settings. However the setting is set to automatic so that does not seem to be the problem.

Have you tried flashing the radio?
You would have to flash a custom recovery (recommend TWRP)
I also had that problem on my Nexus 5 for a few days, I upgraded my ROM but forgot to flash the Radio again, and after flashing radio in custom recovery all was fixed, was strange because SuperSU carried over and it was just a delta (65mb) update, must of screwed the radio I guess. All is working now though.
#cjp420 did u find solution, i have same problem
I did not, but I never tried flashing the radio like the previous commenter said. That actually was an idea I had, but didn't try because I asked and people were adamant that I shouldn't do that.
Believe it or not I am still using the same phone still with the same problem. It's not a big deal because I set it to only connect to lte or gsm so it never connects to the regular 4g. Everywhere in and around austin that I tend to go has good lte reception so I don't really miss it. The only part the kind of sucks is that ot switches to E whenever make or receive a call because there is no voice over lte apparently.

Hey folks,
I'm having some problems with my note 2 GT N7100, I can't connect to the internet, my mobile data is active though it's not working, it works only with whatsapp, then my wifi won't connect, it keeps saying "Obtaining IP adress" and nothing happens after, and yes I am rooted and I guess my problem is because of a root app.
More infos on the attachements, it would be great if someone could help me solve this problem.
Thanks guys.
Can you go to the internet using your mobile data? And did you put in your WiFi password correctly?

Well I made a hard reset and installed a new firmware, now it's working fine, it's just that Google Play stopped working.. I'm getting the 500 error while trying to download any app. I guess my phone is not feeling good these days.
Custom firmware? Maybe try reinstalling gapps again. It seems to solve most of my Google play issues.

No, the official Samsung's 4.1.2 firmware, well I have solved the problem, it has nothing to do with deleting Google Play's cache or deleting Dalvik cache or whatever, since I am rooted and I have Xposed installer, I used to use Hack connectivity module and it seems that it was blocking my wifi access so just by deleting it everything went good. Lucky me. Thanks bro for your help.
Hi guys
My phone refuses to display the VPN dialogue to disconnect from a VPN after pressing the icon from the status bar. Connecting is not an issue but disconnecting from the VPN without resetting the WiFi is.
I'm also using onavo extend, and I'll always get the toast "Couldn't start VPN".
Anyone knows what's the issue here or am I missing some system apps
Appreciate any help
Thanks

Maybe this reply is too late but I was having the same problem on Nexus 5 and I was googling for a solution. I couldn't find any so I tried further and found that after disabling an Xposed module called XHaloFloatingWindow, I could start the onavo vpn service successfully. Maybe you should try to disable this module if you are using it or some other similar system ui mods.

I was wondering if I were to delete the att apps (att hotspots, att nav. etc.) Would that cause any unwanted side effects?
Sent from my LT28at using XDA Free mobile app
Dont know what you mean by delete? If you mean disable? No, it will not hurt to disable those apps. Those are on just about every att phone. There are lists every where showing you what apps you can disable. Just goole em and you will see. If your rooted. There is a very good app called systemCleanup that will tell what apps are safe. Either way you choose. Both are good options. Search or systemCleanup.

Sounds good, I have clean master which says that there could be problems if I uninstalled them

Just disable those apps if You are not sure. Mostly these apps will show "problems if uninstalled" as they are installed via Your update directly, but don't cause any issues if uninstalled. You can always experiment by taking backup of the app, then uninstall it. If nothing is wrong, then fine, else You can restore them.
Disabling them caused no issues but what I am really trying to do I get control of my hotspot/tethering without the need of an app like foxfi when I try to turn them on, please contact att, but since my phone is unlocked and I am not with att there is nothing they can do.
Sent from my LT28at using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, if your trying to use the hotspot in settings thats going to happen. That is tied in directly to your phone. Which is a att phone. You are essentially running a att rom. The only other way that I would know of. Would be to use a different carrier rom. But then you open up to other issues that would not be good. Just stick with foxfi. Be happy it works. For alot of us. It no longer does.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T217A using XDA Free mobile app
I figured that was the case, anyway, I really like the foxfi app because it hides your tethering usage from your carrier
