Good touchwiz rom? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello all, I am looking for a touchwiz rom that has full capability and has great battery life. I have tried synergy, but it doesn't play nice with the AT&T S3 for me. What are some other ones that you guys recommend? Thanks.

No one can determine the best ROM for you as we all have different needs for our phones. Additionally, each phone may react to every ROM differently. My advice would be to try out as many as you can.
This link can be a good place to start researching.

Ya you're right. But I'm just asking what people prefer. I'm looking for one that runs like stock, maybe some mods here and there, with performance increases/better battery life.

The link I provided should be a good point of reference for gauging people's thoughts on ROMs. Reading and trying them yourself is honestly the only way to know.

try roms is all you can do. personally I like wicked v8. I give roms a one strike and youre out rule. if one thing doesnt work good enough for my needs its gone. I wanted to like synergy but it gave me a few issues. maybe I will wait a month or two and see what else comes. ive had great success with wicked and devils reject roms. I have friends using intergalactic and it also seems good for them. my battery life is better than ever on wicked but of course it all comes down to usage and tuning. most important to choose a rom that works.

I like CSROM. The battery life is great and you have good aroma install options for things like aosp messaging and email. It has good mods like tethering, toggles, etc. Also very good support from the Dev and others in the development thread.

I was looking for same thing dude actually I'm still looking.I have been try Synergy and CSROM but they are not what exactly I want . Synergy has really cool staff but they got a lot of issues with SGH-i747 simultaneously. I was trying to install Synergy rom it took my 3-4 hours beacuse I couldn't fix every problem with Snynergy after than I found a fixing uptade file and a kernel it started work okey but it still had bugs. I just decided to try another.
Now I'm using CSROM they don't have a lot of cool thing like synergy . They have some diffrent touchwizz from Sony and Motorola. They have multiwinow but my battery is working sucks . I have 2 battary but I have to get charge 2 times in a day it's mean 4 charge for a single battery.I'm not sure about all this things I'm just saying my experiance. Maybe I could do something wrong but they are my opinion try anotherone except those ::highfive:

Make a nandroid of stock and your IMEI, then flash and try them all !

Devils reject and csrom are my favorites as far as twiz roms

Dude I'm using CDROM to but I'm not happy with my battery life stock was better than it. What settings can you prefer? I thing I'm doing something wrong because people says battery life is fine with CSROM.
Let me know about what should set up. Thanks

Every phone is different. Every user is different. While a rom may work great on one person's phone it may be the opposite for yours...even with the exact same specs and hardware. The opposite can be true for other roms. And the way you use the phone differs as well. There is no "....is the best rom.". If you are not happy with the current ROM, then try another.

I'll give you three of the best IMHO that I've used extensively.
#1 Xtremperia by Jovy23
#2 Darthstalker X1 by Jovy23
#3 Deadly Venom 3.0 by Venom
All three are bug free and extremely stable with excellent battery life. I use the Ziggy kernel with all three.
At this point I'm running Hyperdrive multiview w/ Ziggy and I have Synergy w/Ziggy as my back up.
Yes they both have minor bugs but are easily fixable.
That being said the VERY first thing I would and this comes from an expensive lesson I learned BACK UP YOUR IMEI FIRST!!!! If I've helped please hit the thanks button and happy flashing.

The other reply covered it pretty good as it's different for everyone. I see a lot of people posting about battery life and I would suggest the following. Charge your battery to 100% before you go to bed. Take it off the charger and then just let it sit overnight. When you get up, check the battery stats and see if it goes into deep sleep, meaning it wasn't awake when the screen was off during the night. If you see more than a few times where it was awake, you probably have wakelock issues. If so, use Better Battery Stats to find out what's going on. Sometimes its the media scanner hanging up on a pic or vid that isn't playing nice, sometimes it's something else.
I have my mail synced 24/7 as well as contacts and calendar. I play games for about 10 minutes a clip throughout the day and browse xda and google news and I get about 20 hours with 2-3 hours screen on time.

I am new to Rom flashing. Been experimenting with the AOSP and AOKP Roms but keep coming back to TouchWiz based Roms...Currently I am running Stockorama V2...Has a Aroma installer and tons of options...Still minimalistic in size...I completely wiped the stock Rom off my phone and now running Stockorama I have 10GB free space in my internal memory VS the 5GB I had with the factory Rom...Best part is you get to pick and choose the features you want as you install...One important feature to me is SmartStay and happy to say it's installed in this Rom...Here is the link give it a whirl and let them know what you think...

Just report the thread and a mod will close it. Plus this thread was over a month old. Who ever decided to have their input just bumped it to the top of Q&A and the whole progress starts again.
Next time a thread like this pops up just report it.

Incredibly Re-Engineered

Been running the Incredibly Re-Engineered ROM by chingy51o for about 2 days now. I wanted to post a question on the thread for it but apparently since I don't have 10 post on XDA, I have no business posting in the Dev Forums since I have no experience, which I believe I have plenty.
Well anyways here is my question. The battery life is terrible, is there a fix or one in the works? I was giving it time to settle in but after 2 days I still loose 30% in an hour.
The ROM was installed properly using recovery (I have plenty of experience), wiped and all. The ROM is SICK an I want to keep it.
Any fixes or suggestions would be awesome.

Its all good man. Did you wipe dalvik/battery stats, have you set your sync schedules to the longest intervals? Screen brightness, gps, bluetooth off, etc? I'm not trying to belittle you at all, these are just things I learned over time-from my G1 to now. Good luck...and if all else fails, run cyan7!

His work includes a custom kernel, Lou's #8, so he's already replaced the stock kernel with a different one. Flashing a different kernel is okay to do, especially if you are getting bad battery life. I've run Lou's kernels, they work great with some ROM's, not so much with others. It is responsible for servicing requests from applications and managing resources basically, like the CPU and battery.
Trying a new kernel is not going to ruin the ROM as a whole, like the icons and stuff, so that's why I recommend trying a new kernel. Chingy may switch it at some point if things work better overall, and since you can download Lou's kernels, you can just flash his #8 back to get the ROM back to "default" so to speak.
I use Chad's and Ziggy's because I've gotten the best battery life with those on EVO based ROM's. Give it a shot, if it doesn't make a noticeable difference, flash another, and if nothing makes a difference, maybe try another ROM just to see what kind of battery life that would yield.

His ROM included Lou's #8. I tried A Ziggy and no luck, still had terrible battery. I then tried Lou's #9 and i would swear my battery has preformed 3 times better. I didn't think there was that big a difference between the two.

Yes, I wiped every thing before I installed. I always do.
i have been reading silently through many of the discussions, and im not even gonna say im an expet or anything like that. i have done a few things and am getting used to doing this kinda stuff.... exactly how do u flash a new kernal? ( just a question) so go easy.
That's weird. On a stock build (using the kernel that came with it), I'm getting around 30 hrs on a 1500mah battery. (This is with light to medium usage)
Do you have setcpu installed?
Check your battery report, and check to see if 'Display' has been turning off correctly. I've seen a few roms where something got wonky with either Facebook sync, or exchange preventing the screen from turning off for any length of time. ('Time On' should be much lower than 'Time since unplugged')

Question about bloatware...

So I rooted my SGS2 today, and started cleaning out some bloatware. When I got to T-Mobile's "My Account/My Device" app, and removed it... suddenly I was faced with a force close loop for an app with "sihome" in the name. Once I restored the app (luckily I back everything up first), the force close stopped. Any ideas?
Once you remove those apps, just reboot your phone and you should be good.
same thing happened to me and i was good after a reboot.

Thanks buddy! Found this thread and it solved my problem too.
I would just simply flash a custom ROM that already has the bloat removed to avoid the issue. If you want to remain as stock as possible yet gain some bonuses, give Jugs rom a go.

Speed is great for my needs, its a little laggy between transitions which I'm sure can be adjusted by overclocking but at defaults, it makes up for great battery life. As far as CIQ goes I'm unsure, I'd be glad to find out for you if you point me in the right direction
Its okay, I was on Jugg thread earlier researching. I was going through all the ROMs trying to find one that I would like, but not having a whole lot of luck finding one. Im not really huge on flashing roms like some people here. I tend to research and then when I find a good one I tend to stick with it. I was interested in doing BeastMod but the Development on that rom is gone from what I have heard. Not sure which one to try that is fast and good battery life.

About to flash my first custom rom

Well after doing TONS of reading, soul searching, and complaining about this under performing phone, I have decided to flash my first rom ever. I don't know if I am just tired of TW or maybe that what the problem is after all . I guess I will soon find out. Battery is charged to 92% and can't wait! BTW I will be flashing XTREMEPERIA V5 . I love the look of this particular rom and it seems to function well. I'm just tired of the same look day in and day out of my phone and need something different.

Good to know. I'm glad I made a good choice.I have had a few android devices, nothing like some people. I thought this phone would be the answer, but with it randomly rebooting and freezing all the time, I'm just fed up. If this experiment works, I'm stoked, if not, then I may be off to WP8 and a Lumia 920 or HTC 8x.
I would recommend CM9 or AOKP ICS, but that's mainly because I'm an AOSP nut. I've heard good things about the Xperia rom but to me it just doesn't have that clean AOSP look that I love (and wish I had bought a GNex for!)
I would suggest an AOSP ROM!
CM9.1 Stable - awesome ROM. Better battery life than CM9. Major plus over TW based ROMs is the theme chooser.
CM10 - not really DD material as many people have mixed results from phone to phone. Prone to have Sleep of Deaths and Random Reboots. Aside from the bugs, it's the fastest and snappiest ROM available (in my experience).
CM10 Superlite - the latest version (4.0) is based off a pretty stable build. Once you tune it right and break it in, it's FAST! Lots of features/bloat that I never really used were taken out... some that I did use though, but I can live without em (Browser sync is the only one really, well that and Picasa but I think that could be added DLing Google+, but not sure as it may be missing some dependencies).
Jedi Mind Trick - the BEST TW based ROM out in my opinion. Can't speak much on V9 yet since I have yet to flash it, but V6-V8 were all excellent. If you don't want to go the AOSP route and prefer faster data speeds (aside from decent battery life, this is probably AOSPs biggest flaw, slow data), then this is the way to go imho! I think it also has better battery life than all AOSP ROMs (CM9/10/AOKP).
And that's it. I've tried other ROMs but these ones all ran the best for me. I also want to check out Eugene's Vanilla ICS, but waiting on him to upload the newest version before giving it a try . Apparently he fixed the data issues that plague all AOSP ROMs. Anyway, good luck! We have quite the selection at our disposal.
AOKP ICS Milestone 6 July 15. Plus I added Google Now with a separate zip.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I will certainly keep them in mind. I flashed XTREMEPERIA v5 last night and it all works flawlessly. I was in the mood for something different and that rom certainly is different.

The first phone I ever rooted was a MyTouch 3g. Man I hated that phone also. I'm really enjoying XTREMEPERIA rom. Just about everything works with the exception of not receiving email notification and an auto rotate bug. The auto rotate I fixed by fixing permissions. I'm still working on the email. This can certainly get addictive with all the new roms coming out recently, so happy flashing.

The MyTouch 4G was and still is a great phone, I had a DD jellybean rom, only problem was camera was twitchy and no video recording but I never use it. I switched to the GS2 because my friend upgraded to the GS3 and gave me his gs2. I'm really liking the bigger screen lol.
I'm using a modified Jedi rom. Battery life and speed are way way improved over stock ics. I tried custom visuals, but they killed the battery. So no more of these. Go launcher eats battery.

I have to agree with Steve about GoLauncher. I used to love Theme'ing my s2 with all kinds of designs, but after I found out about how much RAM it uses I just got rid of it completely. I love having more battery life than performance, especially when it comes to large touchscreen phones such as the s2.
When I flashed my first rom I think I bricked my phone, lol. Even after all the reading I did, there was just too much information that I read up on, and I think that actually confused me as to exactly how I should go about rooting and flashing my first rom.
In the end it turned out all right, and now I use the latest Jedi Knight rom from ptmr3. I found that this one gives me the minimalistic theme that I've always wanted and the essential apps that don't take up a lot of memory.

Another battery life thread, they are justified!

Ok, I will keep this short. I have had my GNEX for a couple months now and have been on a quest for the best battery life I can get. My boss has the Razr (not the MAXX!) and when we travell together, he can go all day with plenty of battery left. Granted he is on stock and I am rooted but I usually underclock to squeeze more out.
Anyways, with that said and that this is going to be short...
I search and search and search and search and search, you get the point, for threads where this is being discussed. All I EVER find is people talking some ish about Pandas die or something and the mods close it because they say "yes there is a best one, its the one that works for you". Serioiusly? WTF. What does that gain us, besides everyone (the ones on the outside looking in and the ones on the inside looking out alike) wasting their time.
With that said, here is my point. I understand that everyone has different scenarios for what is going on and everyone has different agendas. But for most people here, they have had their phones long enough to use the same apps, do the same stuff day in and day out that when THEY try different ROMs they can report their findings. Like me for example I have had my best results with AOKP but I only tried Liquid and Xenon other than that and only Leankernel and Trinity so far. Now if someone else came along and said they saw THEIR best battery life on ROM X and Kernel Y and they tried my combination, it would give me a jump start. After all isnt that the point of a community? Besides people beating their chests about pandas?
Rofl, pandas die. Also, this has been done many times in the past, everyone totes different combinations. It's almost pointless, the only reason you don't see all sorts of opinions on these threads it's because people recognize how much of a waste of time it is. I cannot tell you how much "you're mileage may vary" actually comes into play here. You just have to flash what you want to use, and often times, the effect of ROM on battery life does nothing but you perceive it as being helpful, because you enjoy the experience of the ROM, this "placebo" effect also haunts the forums. So the only thing you can be sure of, is when your battery life it's considerably worse than before, just wipe, flash new rom/kernel and try again.

The reason he can go all day is because his phone has an extended battery. I think its like 3000mah or something. If you have the gsm version its only 1750 do the math of course his going to out last yours. There is no best ROM for battery. Or kernel. Its how you configure said ROM or kernel. If you want a setup to go buy visit the link in my SIG about my Franco setup. I get relatively great battery life as anyone that knows me will tell you. Also manage your networks. Do you toggle data when not in use? Do you have things syncing? How often? What apps are running in the foreground as well as the background?

1) the razr screen is not the same as the GN. there are more pixels per inch on the GN than the razr.
2) you can never have the best combination. every phone is different. my verizon gnex i had cant handle overclocking past 1.4Ghz. ive seen threads on this forum where people have gotten to 1.8Ghz.
what works for you, will not always work for me and vice versa.
Go to location settings and uncheck Google's location service and GPS satellites. Open app drawer and navigate to the settings widget, long press to put on homescreen, select Location services when prompted for widget type (so that you can quickly turn those on for Maps or Navigation.
Presto, decrease idle battery draw from 2 to 3% per hour to 2% every three hours.

[Q] The People's ROM battery life

I'm running The People's ROM and I love it but I;m not getting very good battery life. I've tried undervolting, underclocking, I even went back to the stock kernel. Nothing has worked. I saw Kenny's post to change folder qosmgr to qosmgr.bac but it was already done. Can anyone help? I love this ROM but if I can't get better battery life I will change to something else.
Download better battery stats and post screenshots of your kernel wakelocks, partial wakelocks and alarms so we can better assess your battery drain

I've installed better battery stats. Should I charge to a full charge and let it run down some and then get the screenshots?
Questions go in Q&A
Thread moved
Have you turned data off or put into Airplane mode to determine if you have a signal/sync issue?
Is MEDIA high in your battery stats?
Everything already mentioned it could be many things. First is a screen shot of your battery stats on the device and a screen shot of on screen time.
1. Are you syncing anything?
2. Are you mostly on wifi? 3g?or LTE?
3. Do you use Facebook app?
4. What kernel? Any tweaks?
5. What governor?
6. What scheduler?
Let's start with this and we will get you going in the right direction.

Data is turned on and when I put it in airplane mode I don't seem to have problems there. MEDIA is not high on the battery stats, it's always ANDROID OS. I can fully charge at night and unplug the charger and not touch it until morning (about 8 hours) and the battery will be at about 92%.

I have auto sync on, I am mostly on wifi, I don't use Facebook, at first I had Ktoonsez kernel undervolted and now I'm using stock kernel, I never changed the governor or scheduler so it was on whatever it was installed with

That's actually not horrible, but could be better, sounds like you have apps/syncs waking your device regularly, get a screenshot of better battery stats wakelocks do we can help you figure it out.. you don't have to charge fully, just plug it in once and unplug it so it starts recording your stats

After reading your reply I have turned auto sync and data off, maybe that's all it is, hopefully. I really want to keep this ROM, I like it way more than any I have found

Will do. Thanks everyone for being so helpful and responding so fast. I'm a noob and just figured everything out by myself so far using the internet. I rooted a couple of months ago and ran stock rooted for about a month and then started checking out custom ROMS. I haven't had many problems although I did get in a bootloop at one time and fixed it without problem. I figured fixing my battery draining issue would be much easier this way and I was right thanks to people like you guys that ROCK!
That's what this community is about, helping out those in need

Good to know you're trying things out for yourself. Many users come onto the threads before even doing some research expecting to just have the answers handed to them on a silver platter lol

Ok, I've charged my phone to a full charge over an hour ago and I've been using it a bit here and there and it seems I can already tell a difference. I left data on but turned sync off. I'm really thinking the auto sync was my problem since I wasn't leaving Wi-Fi and it was still draining to fast. I was losing about 8% over night with no use at all so I will know better in the morning. Regardless I will post some screenshots of my results sometime tomorrow.

Hmm, you may wanna go into the team kernelizers thread and do the file renaming listed in the OP as well
I'll check it out now(if I can find it), thanks

Thanks anyway CNexus. I'm running The People's ROM GS317 with the stock kernel. Thanks again everyone for all the help, I was afraid I would start posting and just get on everyone's nerves for being such a noob!
