U could try taking the htclockscreen.apk and rosie.apk from /system/app from the .zip of the rom you are using. Copy that to your current /system/app and change permissions to rw- r- r-

How do I do that? And I don't have any lock screen files in that folder. Also, how do I change permissions?
Use es file explorer. Open it up and go to settings, turn on root explorer, then mount file system. To get to / click on the star on the top left "favorites". To change permissions long press the file, go to properties, then it will show permissions and has a change button to let u modify. Download the ROM.zip u r using and use es to browse .zip and copy the files u need. Don't forget the odex files if your rom has them

What is it doing? It doesn't have to install just needs the files copied to the correct location and the permissions changed. Then u just need to reboot and clearing cache and dalvik cache would be a good idea.

You don't have to install it. You have to replace it. Or in your case just copy and paste it in the /system/app folder.

You can also rename it to framework2 , move to system/framework , set permissions and rename reboot

Hey guys
Here's the modified android policy which would allow the volume rocker wake on your DarksideEvo3 v7. You have to manually moved it to your /system/framework/ with root explorer or push it through adb since I don't know to create the flashable zip in the recovery.
Below is the instruction to push it through adb. (You can just copy the policy file in the zip to the root of the internal storage and start at adb shell)
adb push android.policy.jar /sdcard/
adb shell
su
sysrw
cp /sdcard/android.policy.jar /system/framework/
chmod 644 /system/framework/android.policy.jar

Hey Derek
It's pretty simple on baksmali/smali thing. I can send you all the links I found on how to use it to modified the dex file in android.policy.jar. However I didn't have time to look up on how to create the flashable zip that's why I didn't make one.
Btw, your rom is the best. Been using since the darkside.digital.warfare.v2.7

Idk if you did the same as me. But this is what I did, inside the zip file " modified android policy" I extracted " Androidpolicy" and moved it to the framework file. From there I renamed it " androidpolicy" (with a lower case a) an it replaced the original file. Rebooted and worked.
Sorry if its confusing.

Flashable zip for Darkside v8
I thought I would take a crack at making a flashable zip for this mod. This is the first one I have made ever, ever in my entire life, so please flash at your own risk and have a backup ready.
I modified the android.policy.jar from Darkside v8.
Did I mention this was my first flashable zip ever? Flash this like anything else; I assume clearing caches would be a good idea.
This works for me. I flashed it on a clean install of v8 with no issue that I can tell.
Installed on Darkside Evolution v8...works like a charm. Thanks!

Would anyone have any leads how to get volume button music control going on stock ROM? I miss it alot from my evo with tommytomatoe's classic ROM. Any leads or help are greatly appreciated.

i know im replying to myself, but i found a solution for this (for which i take no credit for, just happy to have it)
go here, and first things first thank this guy: nikhil007mmus in his rom thread below
he has a flashable zip link in his second post for his rom thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748974
which when clicked leads you to his dropbox.
download the file that says Enable_skip_tracks_mod.zip and unzip it to the root of your sdcard (or wherever, you just need easy access)
copy the contents of the zip file (android.policy.jar) to /system/framework, (making sure to take a backup of your original for good measure) using a root explorer, i recommend es file explorer.
and finally, bask in the warm shiny glow that is lockscreen volume button music control.
Mixing frameworks like this should be done with caution. Just throwing this warning out for extremely new to android users

I know its not exactly an elegant solution, but it worked ok for me, if I feel froggy I might see if I can't just port a stock Rom from another phone with all the goodies baked in already. Viper Rom from the incredible s has all of it and shouldn't be hard to port.

so i found a better cleaner way to do this, dl the zip attached to this post, and decompile android.policy.jar from your favorite sense rom and add these 45 files inside the zip to it. then recompile, and use adb or a root explorer to push it back to /system/framework. its nice to have a stock sense rom with volume button music controls now, that doesnt mess up after using it a few times.
once again, credit goes to nikhil007mmus
only hitch is long press down volume button pauses the music for now, im working on getting it to properly skip back a song or repeat the current one from the beginning.
took me a long time, but i figured it out finally lol.
pull classes.dex from android.policy.jar from your sense rom and put it in the same folder as smali and baksmali (use google to find and dl them)
issue these commands to decompile and then recompile:
java -jar baksmali.jar -x android.policy.jar -o classout
stick the files from the zip in com/android/internal/policy/impl and after you are done:
java -Xmx512M -jar smali.jar classout -o classes.dex
then use 7zip or something like it to put classes.dex back into android.policy.jar and push android.policy.jar back to your phone however you prefer to do so
note: this only works on deodexed roms, but htc should have included this to begin with, would have saved alot of headache.
and finally, enjoy.
Xposed Installer + Xposed Tweak Box works. just don't select any other options besides the volume button skip mod or else you will get a bootloop
Thanks for your input, I've never heard of that.

I've decided to make a solution for primoc users who are on the Cricket network and want to have working Mms on a custom ROM due to requests.
EXPERIMENT:
Nestoh has included my patch and added his own Virgin Mobile carrier text mod to it in a flashable zip. Try it and report if it works for you please!!! (Recommended to try on RhythmicRom!)
DOWNLOAD
Okay so this is quite simple.
Step 1: Download this and copy to your SD Card.
Step 2: Flash the VMtoCricket.zip in recovery
Step 3: Wipe Cache & Davlik then reboot into your ROM
Okay, now the easy part is done. Now we will change your APN settings to get your phone up and running on Cricket.
Now Follow These Steps:
-Open voice dialer
-Say Open Apn's
-Open Spint APN
-Hit Menu then Delete Sprint APN
-Hit menu then New APN
-Input the APN settings for cricket
APN Settings:
Code:
Carrier=Cricket
Apn=Cricket
Proxy=wap.mycricket.com
Port=8080
[email protected]
Password=cricket
MMSC=http://mms.mycricket.com/mycricket/mms.php
Hopefully this works for you! Fяy has verified for me it has worked.
This works fully now i finally have working mms on my rom
Just installed this, but I haven't tried to send any mms. Just wanted to add this onto it. Since it still says the carrier name is Virgin Mobile, here's a quick fix for that.
1. Download this http://www.mediafire.com/?lul47jcyj52t49c
2. Copy and paste it into your /system/framework
3. Set the permissions to -rw-r--r--
4. Reboot
Note- Make a backup before installing just in case. Because I know some people will forget to set the permissions or will set them wrong. Also, try pushing it through ADB, it's much easier.
Edit: By the way, this is for the Rhytmic Rom

No? Its the framework-res.apk its in your /system/framework folder. Do this step by step. Make a backup first tho.
1. The apk you downloaded (which is the framework-res.apk) rename it to 1framework-res.apk
2. Copy and paste it to the folder /system/framework
3. Set the permissions to -rw-r--r--
4. Delete the other framework-res.apk
