[Q] AudioOut_2 partial wakelock drains my battery - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I know, on XDA is a lot of topics with this problem but I didn't find any solution there.
Some days ago I flashed my device to stock ROM 4.1.2 [XEO]. Of course, I made full wipe before flash and I didn't root my device.
I installed apps which I use and problem is here. I read, Viber is draining battery, so I went to settings of Viber and checked "Use System Sounds" and disabled vibrate when somebody sends me a message.
In android settings I disabled system sounds and vibrate too.
List of my apps:
Code:
AirDroid
Any.DO
Apex Launcher
BetterBatteryStats
Business Calendar
Cerberus
Dolphin Browser
Dropbox
Dropsync
EZ File Browser
Facebook
Feedly
Keep
Messenger (Facebook)
MX Player
PicsArt
SMS Backup & Restore
SoundHound
Swapps
Tapatalk
Tasker
Tinylight
Twitter
Viber
Waze
WeatherPro
WidgetLocker
Zooper Widget Pro
At night, tasker turns my device to airplane mode from 03:00 - 07:30.
Battery is really important for me so I will be really very thankful if somebody helps me to fix my problem with drain.
Here is BetterBatteryStats screen:

Look in da guide in mah sig.

Thank you for your answer.
Tip 1:
- doesn't work for me. I wrote to CurrentWidget support. They tell me, problem is with Samsung devices (still shows 0mA)
Tip 2:
- have all disabled / enabled
So I found, I must close all aps before I lock my device or use Advanced Task Killer. I read a lot of articles and they don't recommend use 3rd task killers apps and auto-killing is bad for android. So I don't know what I can do now.

Bs. If you configure it to automatically kill all apps at screen off then nothing is gonna go wrong. I have set it up and everything is good here. Also use greenify to stop apps from running in the background that you don't want.

I just uninstalled Viber, hope, it will fix my problem. / installed Whatsapp

I had this issue, i downloaded installed and ran "Rescan Media Root" from the Google Play Store. Problem solved. Without having to uninstall Whatsapp or Viber etc.

Thanks but I don't have rooted device. Btw still have AudioOut_2 problem.. BetterBatteryStats shows me 15 minutes of AudioOut_2 now..

It is not Viber, despite what many people say on numerous threads.
I uninstalled Viber and the problem is still there.
To this day no one knows what the cause is. There have been many suggestions but no definite answer.
---------- Post added at 04:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:22 PM ----------
And to make it more difficult to solve, it looks like it's completely random.
I hate this kind of problems, the intermittent ones...

It is due to any app that uses audio. To shortlist it is generally in apps that use audio and continue running in background.
The only solution is to kill all apps before letting it sleep.

Thank you for all replies. Hmmm today I get good stats of battery and AudioOut_2. I don't understand

I can personally confirm that both Viber and Skype (when signed in) cause this wakelock. Also, this wakelock appears regardless of whether you turn off your screen. Play 15 minutes of audio with the screen on, you get this wakelock. Play a game, kill the process, you get this wakelock. It occurs even if you're using the phone, not only during screen off.
Edit: What I meant to say was, Viber and Skype cause this wakelock during screen off time.

Some hours ago I sent some messages via fb messenger and whatsapp, read some topics in tapatalk and read rss via feedly. AudioOut_2 is high again.

Basically an instruction to the CPU that stops it going to deep sleep. But try what I said, set a custom reference in Better Battery Stats, play music for 15 minutes while using the phone. You will get 15 minutes of AudioOut_2.

I have the same findings as you. Get lots of AudioOut_2 wakelock but it actually corresponds to the time i spend playing games with sound on (which obviously happens when screen is on). And even with high amount of this wakelock, i still get my normally great battery life. Hence i conclude this wakelock is wrongly captured, at least for me. :cyclops:

Getting high audioout_2 while playing music or games or anything else which produces sound is of course normal, it's common sense.
The problem is when you have 8 hours of awake time when you're sleeping due to audioout_2. My battery went down by 11% overnight because of this.

Just configure advanced task killer and greenify. That's all you'll need.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Hello UtkarshGupta,
so I tried to install Advanced Task Killer and here is my setup:
In settings I checked Ignore service, fron app
Auto Kill Level: Crazy
Auto Kill Frequency: When screen off
I created recommend ignore list and add some apps but I don't know if I can kill for example Clock too.
BTW I see S Suggest and S Voice are runned. I don't know why, coz' I didn't start these apps.

I don't have any ignore list. In fact I deleted the ones which were pre configured. I don't have any issues.

but i.e. I'm using WidgetLocker or Apex Launcher. If I kill one of these apps, it will be not a good solution.. hm?

Phone app draining battery

Woah. Is this normal? I went to sleep and woke up to this! My phone app has been used up 50%. I rooted my phone and installed some rooted apps before going to bed. This is weird.

I'm far from an expert but I'd say that's definitely not normal. If I were you I'd check your account and make sure your phone wasn't making a bunch of calls that you'll have to pay for.

Completely sure that rooting is not the reason for it.

Well...you don't have to unroot. Just uninstall the apps, and see if that makes a difference. Its probably one of those.

One of the apps probably has access to your contacts, or has the ability to make phone calls. Check the apps permissions.
looks normal, considering that you havent used your device(normally the screen would take up the large %, but you turned it only for a few minutes). if your screen was at the normal use percentage of 60-80%, then the phone app would be at a lower percent(6-10%). did you make a phone call before going to bed?

Uninstall juice defender and then try to notice the battery or u may install better batter stats and after a full battery charge look for kernel and wake up alarms in better battery stats ..u will b able to see which app is misbehaving.

you don't need juice defender. once you rooted your phone try changing kernel (f.e. Franco's) to increase battery life

It's not normal that phone will keep your device awake for that period. Try a reboot and uninstall those apps and check usage again. Better battery stats is good for pinpointing the app misbehaving.

How Long Before You Need A Soft Reset?

How long does your OG Pro go before it starts to feel laggy and unresponsive to make you need to reboot the phone?
With the use of the Task Manager Widget, Which lets you optimize the RAM and then keeping the Recent Apps empty , I'm going to have to say.. Never.
BUT, As a rule of thumb, I will Restart the phone after I have installed an App and have all the start up "work" for that App accomplished.
I don't ever feel the need to reboot..I don't run any task managers or anything.
I restart almost twice a day. It's a bad habit from my iPhone days of 2 years ago. I've done it with every android phone I own and it has become an OCD thing now. Trying to quit but it's hard.

I disabled all of the bloatware, as well as many of the Google stuff I do not use, and it made a world of difference in the overall performance of my device. Combine this with the task manager set to reclaim memory every 12 hours and I am good to go. My original lag issues are now gone.
I never reboot my device except when applying some sort of mod. It's never ever laggy.
I've also read that the Android development community strongly recommends not using any kind of task managing app. This is not Windows. Android is smart about managing it's memory on it's own.

LG provides a task manager widget that refreshes the memory. I wonder what issues that causes, if any.
I use it and I dig it.
Task Manager Widget, Then click the Circle Arrow and my RAM goes up.
My old HTC Vivid would go an 8 hour shift and need a charge, BAD! This OGP was at 80% battery with the same usage.

Fyi- The LG task manager clears memory by default every 12hrs.

I have only needed to reboot the phone when my iPad wont recognize the hotspot feature. Other than that i don't get lag or need to reboot. i do however CLEAR RAM if it drops below 800MB free. Just to stop running apps from draining my battery.

Just launch task manager from the app drawer...click on menu then settings..
The default options are to auto clear memory every 12hrs.. All of which can be changed.

dont think i've ever restarted it for being laggy. only when i try a new mod or occasionally after installing an app
341 hours ago.
I think the wifi was acting up so I rebooted two weeks ago.
I use the built in one. You can set the time frame for it to clear the ram for optimal performance. I have it set for every hour. No lag what so ever since I got this phone.

what this is app does is reduce bakground and hence will help you if you experience unexplained standby drains, once it's done learning your most used apps, it will control background activity sync
so yes you will notice great improvements if you you have lots of accounts draining your standby times
I currently am on day 6 using the app (actual use, its not including the 2 days of hiding in background watching me). Haven't really noticed a huge difference but I probably get another hour or so of battery life.
I think the trial was pretty lame. After it finally got the thing to start, I like how you can block apps from refreshing in the background. The list is not very big however and I am curious as to what other apps do the same thing but have more options.
All in all, I'd give it a thumb up as it is not hurting my phone's performance and a little battery savings

I have used this snapdragon app, their is a thread about it somewhere, i removed it as it was giving me thousands wakelocks with the app, i used wakelock detector to see them.
John.
It just blocks apps from syncing if you use your phone auto sync on all the time so it's not like greenify which completely stops background process of a specific app until you open it. If you don't keep auto sync on then it's a waste of time and makes battery even worse.
It's a placebo, don't use it.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
No, it is not a placebo. Yes, it does block apps from syncing in the background. So what? You guys are missing the point.
They are not claiming to possess some magical powers that will double your phone's battery life. The main difference from this app and similar others in the market, is their learning algorithm. It learns from "watching" you use your phone for a couple of days and then controls what is going on in the background to help you save battery without you doing much on your end. It's actually a pretty genius idea. I'm trying it out for the first-time (thanks OP for mentioning this app) and will post back with my results later this week. I'm not expecting wonders, but maybe I'll learn a thing or two about my daily use that I might be able to incorporate into my setups.
I would really appreciate you get back to use with your results, i pulled the plug after a couple of hours because of the high number of wakelocks.
John.

No problem. Honestly, people freak out too much about wakelocks. You can have 50 simple events waking your device that will consume 10% of a single wakelock event from another app. Google's new play services that have been announced at I/O are wakelock-fiends, but surprisingly, their effect on battery life is very minimal.
Basically, it's about quality and not quantity of the wakelock that matters.

I was wondering if itll affect instant messaging app, like whatsapp.
Will I still receive the messages instantly or battery guru will refresh my whatsapp periodically based on my usage?

installed it. doesn't work. after a few weeks, installed it again, still doesn't work. it seems to just kill running apps. not great if you use whatsapp or viber, you won't be receiving any messages with the battery guru on.
I'm using this but I don't feel that the battery is very good anyway. Is this app working just like greenify?

Might be something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29369439&postcount=4
It can be any program that is not closed properly (eg. running in the background), like Youtube.
Does it also occur when your device is rebooted and NO program is started? (See in the apps listing which apps are running right after resetting)
it is manifested even when the device has just been restarted. I try to freeze youtube and see how it goes?
Does anyone know a program to check if the battery is still working?
Hi. Maybe try to untick conversation tones (notifications) in whatsapp.

Try to use Greenify. That'll stop programmes from restarting.
As has been said that particular wake lock is an app that hasn't closed Properly.
When I get it I terminate apps one by one each time going back to bbs hitting refresh to see if the wakelock has stopped increasing. When it does I know that's the app I need to greenify.
