[Q] Phone Unlocked but can't ROOT! - HTC One X

Hello Guys
I own a HTC One X (4.1.1) which i bought a month ago and i m new to android. I unlocked my phone with the help of Hasoon2000 all in one toolkit. While rebooting into Bootloader it says unlocked and when i try to flash a recovery like CWM or TWRP it says "Error : No Device Found".
OR if i try to do it manually by rebooting in bootloader and then going in recovery it shows me a RED TRIANGLE. Toolkit installed the HTC drivers and I even copied CWM SuperSu folder in my HTC Storage. Pls Help as i really want to root my phone but i m not able to.
Tell me a procedure for how to root.
Thanks!

So the bootloader is unlocked?
Manually boot to bootloader(vol- and power), highlight fastboot and press power to confirm. Hook usb cable. Now it says 'fastboot usb' on the screen doesn't it?
Now go to your lil toolkit and try to flash a recovery. It should work.

No man still the same thing "Error : No Device Found"
Any other solution..

It should not be a driver problem since unlocking the bootloader already used fastboot connection...
Try another usb port, another usb cable, reboot pc and try another pc if possible.

tyr installing HTC Sync: http://dl4.htc.com/managed-assets/support/software/htc-sync/htc_sync_setup_3.3.21.exe

Ditch the damn toolkit and use a command prompt like a boss: http://d-h.st/592
Extract the 'win32' folder on your pc and launch the cmd prompt like this:
Hold shift and right click anywhere in the folder. Select open command prompt here.
Now DL the recovery from here: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
Put it to the same folder as the fastboot files, rename it to recovery.img
Then type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

it says error cannot load recovery
I m using windows 7 64 bit

Have the recovery.img in the same folder as the files fastboot.exe, etc.
If your windoze hides file extensions, make sure it ain't named recovery.img.img
Sent from my IceCold One X

i copied the recovery file into the fastboot+adb folder which u told me to download and then entered command prompt. then it says that error while loading recovery. Do i have to copy the recovery file into other folder or something?

Your phone has to be on "fastboot usb" then do the command prompt thing.

See this is wat i did after unlocking the bootloader :
1) I downloaded the fastboot folder.
2) I downloaded the recovery file.(Clockworkmod)
3) I copy pasted the recovery file in the fastboot folder and renamed it recovery.img
4) I connect my phone to my pc using my usb cable.
5) I boot my phone into bootloader
6) on my pc using shift i open the command window in the fastboot folder.
7) I enter fastboot mode on my phone which says "Failed to open USB master mode"
8) I then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img in the command windows and it shows error loading recovery file.
Am I doing something wrong??
I m not able to root my phone because of this.
pls help.
My phone is running 4.1.1 jellybean. Is dat a problem??

Mac OS X Fastboot Mode <Waiting for Device>

Hi, I am trying to Re-Lock my Galaxy Nexus GSM version, I've downloaded the SDK files (adb-mac and fastboot-mac) and all the image files and I am trying to execute the following commands:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-toro-primekk15.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-toro-i515.ek02.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio-cdma radio-cdma-toro-i515.ek05.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-mysid-icl53f.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem lock
With the phone in normal mode I connect the USB cable to the computer, start Terminal windows and run the first command, "./adb-mac reboot bootloader" and the phone will boot into the "Fastboot Mode", then I try to execute "./fastboot-mac devices" to make sure the phone is connected and properly detected and I get nothing.
If I try to execute "./fastboot-mac flash bootloader bootloader-toro-primekk15.img" I get the message <waiting for device> and it will stay there forever.
Do you know what might be the problem ?, is there other method to do this ?, go back to Stock ROM and Re-Lock the device ?, thanks
i use windows but i also get problems when i didnt had a break after the flash parts/ update parts

I know nothing about using Macs but have you installed the device drivers? As you are getting no serial number returned when using fastboot devices im guessing not.
Mark.
On a side note please do not post questions in the Development Forums as that is not the place for them.
Thanks.
The device is being detected while running in normal mode, meaning I do have the drivers, the problem is when I go into FASTBOOT MODE, I can no longer see the phone

But for the simple command ./fastboot-mac devices should work and it's not
in bootloader mode u need other drivers
but dont know how to install them on mac
First thing, make sure your fastboot file is executable
from the folder containing fastboot-mac:
chmod a+x fastboot-mac
You do not need further drivers on a mac. Just make sure you are using the correct fast boot and have all of the images in the same folder. Try using a different USB port. I renamed my fastboot file to fastboot and copied it into usr/local/bin folder so it can be accessed without the ./ ...Hope this helps...I actually just got done restoring mine because its gotta go back to the store because the internal storage is all sorts of jacked up...Since you clearly have a mac, have you had any issues using android file transfer?

I just checked and Fastboot is executable, as a matter of fact it's running, the problem is that the phone cannot be seen from the FASTBOOT mode, and I can see from the phone screen that IT IS in Fastboot Mode, it says in RED letters "FASTBOOT MODE"

Well reboot your phone. Once up, try and boot into boot loader the manual way by powering off the device, holding both vol + and -, and press power... then try your fastboot commands. Are you rooted or no?

I've done that, going into FASTBOOT MODE manually and the same result. Yes I am rooted.
I just want to go back to stock and re-lock the phone, is there other way to accomplish that ?
NOTE: I've tried Mac and PC (Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit 1.3), different USB cables, different USB ports, reinstalled all the drivers on the Windows computer, NOTHING, the phone it's not being detected in FASTBOOT MODE.
Is it possible to go back to stock and re-lock from the Recovery Mode ?, I have ClockWorkMode 5.5.0.2 installed and working fine.
You can flash a Stock Rom via cwm but you can only relock the phone via fastboot mode.
Has this problem only surfaced recently?
You say that you are rooted and have cwm flashed so how did you do that?
Do you have another usb cable that you can try?
Mark.

I used FASTBOOT to unlock and Root, no problem at all, use the phone for 10 days and them decided to go back to Stock and Re-Lock. If I connect the phone in normal operating mode to the computer it will be recognized and I can see the phone from the computer connected via USB, so the cabe, port on the phone and port on the computer are OK. I've tried different computer (Mac and PC), different OS (Mac OS X and Windows 7), different USB cable, different USB port.
Just make sure USB debugging is on...try getting on a PC and running the ODIN file from someone was kind enough to post us...to get into odin mode, just hold up while the phone is off and hit power. You need the drivers installed and the latest version of ODIN on your desktop as well.

Plug your phone in and then turn it off...download the odin file from xda...not sure who posted it...it will be a 7z file...inside there are two separate .tar files. Extract these from the .7z file but do not fully unzip them. Place the one without LTE in the name in PDA and the one with LTE in phone, turn your phone on while holding vol -... there is a box that turns yellow in odin once your phone is connected. then check your screen against the one posted where you get the odin full restore file from and verify it matches, then flash it...

[Q]How to flash RUU

How to flash Ruu ?? I have S-off rooted using infra ROM an overclocked I want to update my radio firmware. Bcoz getting poor battery can any one give me a guide plss..
thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using XDA Premium App
Just run the exe file.............connect you phone and follow the instructions.......
Is it that hard that you had to ask???
It's not that simple. Here's what you need to do:
Charge the battery above 50%.
Relock the bootloader using the following command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Then boot the phone into bootloader and select Fastboot using the volume rocker and pressing power. Then connect the USB cable. You should see FASTBOOT USB.
Run the RUU from Windows and follow the wizard. You may have to extract and re-flash the stock recovery from the RUU for it to work, I don't remember.
Once the install is done you'll have unlock the bootloader again using the token you already have from the first time, reflash cwm recovery and re-root. All this will be 10x easier than the first time.
No its not the thing of hard I'm a bit scared to try the attempt.bcoz my one friends phone got bricked while trying this I don knw wat wrong step he did so I don WAN my phone to get brick like tat simple.
Q. I jus WAN a proper guide guys could any one help

I'm not sure what you are saying. If you unlocked the bootloader with HTC dev then you must relock it before flashing. Either way it will be locked after.
how do I relock the boot loader, I've gone to terminal emulater typed in fastboot oem lock but it comes up with fastboot not found.
thanks.

Boot the phone into HBOOT, select FASTBOOT with the volume rocker and press the power button. It will turn red. Then plug it into your computer with the USB cable and it will say FASTBOOT USB.
Open a command prompt and type in the command.

OK i did that and it now says RELOCKED Yay!
But when i try to install the RUU update it gets halfway through and says failed
is this because i have CWM and root still going ?
Do i need to clear Root, Remove CWM as well as relocking the bootloader ?
im sorry to keep mithering you
OK, you have to revert to the stock recovery. While the RUU wizard is open, find the temporary folder it created. (Open Explorer in windows and type %temp% in the navigation bar.) There will be two folders with long encrypted names. In one of them you will find ROM.zip. Open it with 7zip and extract recovery.img. Flash it from FASTBOOT USB (like before) using the command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then re-run the RUU and it should finish.

i can't root my wildfire s ...

i have a marvel unlocked s on wildfire s.
i can't root my phone because when i go into the recovery mode, the black screen comes up with the 4 lighting keys. i don't know what to do. i read the related posts but nothing seems to help. could you guys please help.. i unlocked my phone for rooting and now i can't do anything.
You can root your phone by using the HTC super tool, just google for it.
I assume you have stock recovery on your phone, then you actually can't really use that recovery. You should try to root it with supertool
and then install CWM with ROM Manager
I hope this came in handy for you!

i tried the supertool but it doesn't work. i tried everything even the clockworkmode recovery, the flashing of cwm works perfectly fine but the recovery mode doesn't show up so that i can install from sd card. only a black screen with key lighted comes up. i tried the things given in the black screen recovery article of xda .. but nothing seems to help. could you help me out to see through this. my moms htc wildfire s which is one year old works perfectly fine but the problem is with my new one.. i also heard that lot of people are experiencing the same.
After unlocking, you have to root the device first then install CWM and take a nandroid backup thru Recovery option.
For rooting you can also use root.zip method. just google it.
To flash CWM, goto Hboot menu and select fastboot, then goto cmd (command prompt) on pc try using fastboot commands to flash boot.img, system.img and recovery.img.
Hope this may be useful.....

Maybe you need to downgrade your stock ROM (if you still can boot it up so to say).
Look for a RUU for WFS and try to downgrade/upgrade HBOOT and such to an older/newer version.
Sorry that I can't post any links too RUUs, I'm on my phone.
But there is a tread with these in the Dev section I think, but if they don't work you can just google for them.
tbh I have a similar problem with my bro's WFS, I can't even unlock it because of wrong versions a such so I think your problem could be related to this.

I think you you've chosen the wrong cwm. Chose the right one here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229
download PG76IMG.zip and you need to install it using fastboot, it will not work using the zip file from your sd card. Make sure you delete that file before attempting what is below (adapted from CafeKampuchia's guide on rooting).
You will need SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync installed on your Windows computer. Install the SDK tools in a directory named something like c:\android. Put the recovery image in this directory, too, not the zip file.
Boot the phone into HBOOT by turning the phone off, removing the battery, replacing the battery then holding down the power key and volume button. After it scans for PG7610.zip, select FASTBOOT and press the power button then connect the USB cable. The word FASTBOOT will change into FASTBOOT USB. If not, then either your USB drivers for the Wildfire S or Android SDK Tools is not installed properly.
Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to c:\android
Type the following command: fastboot flash recovery [image name.img]. For example:
c:\android\>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img
Hope this will install ClockworkMod recovery properly. (If really press 'thank').

htc one x stuck on boot logo

was trying to flash cm10 onto my one x from this website:
pocketnow title "Jelly Bean on the HTC One X with CyanogenMod 10 (Video)"
ended up getting stuck one #8 because i assume "Shift+right click in the browser window" means do that in the android sdk program. now my one x wont be able to boot because on my pc it wont work but im now try to attempt at it with my mac. any suggestions on how i can boot it up? even it i do volume down+power button or volume up+down+power button it restarts but stops at the boot logo. your help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
Did you flash the boot.img?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Shift + Right Click is usually done in Fastboot folder (for me) then click "open command prompt here" to use fastboot commands

Can you use fastboot commands with your phone?
If so then extract the boot.img from the rom you want to use, and copy it to the fastboot folder, then right click and open command prompt in the folder and enter the command fastboot flash boot boot.img

Does it show Fastboot USB on the phone screen when you connect the USB cable to the computer?

yes it shows up as red when it says "FASTBOOT USB". damn this 5min per post is annoying
Sounds like everything should work, have you extracted the boot.img from the rom?
place it in the fastboot folder on your computer, then shft+ right click and open command prompt and you should be good to go from there with flashing the boot.img

In that state try typing fastboot devices
You should something like HTxxxxxxxxxx fastboot
If the response is blank then you may not have the correct drivers installed for your phone. There are a number of ways to get the drivers; one way is to install PDAnet http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php
You don't even have to complete the whole install, just go until the driver is installed. In any case you can uninstall PDAnet and it will leave the drivers on your system.
When fastboot is finally able to recognize your phone then you can flash the boot.img by doing fastboot flash boot boot.img
(this assumes that boot.img is the actual name of the file, it should be unless you renamed it or downloaded it from somewhere)
is fastboot just a folder i create with the boot.img inside of it?

No, fastboot is a tool within the Android SDK. You used it when you unlocked your bootloader.
i bought this phone off another guy who had it rooted and loaded
where is the fastboot folder located in android sdk manager?
Download this file http://www.mediafire.com/?50baad8rykng2j0
Create a folder on your C: drive called fastboot and extract the .zip into the fastboot folder

ended up bringing my phone to the cell shop. I know its an easy fix but cant seem to find that folder.. they said it was a 50/50 chance and will charge me $80 if they can get it to work...think it was a good idea?
Not really. Seems the only thing your phone needed to boot was the boot.img. That would have been done in a couple minutes. As already said here: you simply need to put the android sdk on your c: drive, put the boot.img in that folder, go into bootloader and connect your device with your pc, it should say fastboot USB, open command prompt, go to the direction of your sdk folder and use the fastboot command to flash the boot.img. It should then boot.

Sounds like they haven't got a clue what they're doing.

[Q] HTC One X Stuck on HBoot/Fastboot & Can't be seen by PC

Hi to all.
Yesterday, I tried to root my flatmate's HTC One X and flash MIUI Rom instead of Revolution HD.
I used a programme called One X to root and I succeeded in 3 hours. Then I flashed the MIUI zip file. I did "wipe cache/data" processes.
Everything was OK till I rebooted. I chose the language after seeing MIUI logo and phone couldn't connect to WiFi. I skipped this step and then I got a screen saying that SIM CARD is loading/opening. It didn't get start and I went back to Recovery Mode and I made a FACTORY RESET. I think that was one of the biggest mistakes of my life because when I rebooted the phone; it got stuck with an "HTC quietly brilliant" screen.
The phone doesn't get start for almost 24 hours. I can enter to HBOOT or FASTBOOT screen by pressing Power Button + Volume Down. I can enter to Recovery Mode but there is no zip file (except "clorkworkmod/") in sdcard.
At the same time;
- I can't MOUNT USB STORAGE
- PC doesn't see the phone as a storage device or so. I thing I have a problem about this MTP thing.
- lesterhein. com/ how-to-charge-your-android-phone-battery-in-hboot / My situation is something like that. I left the phone to be charged in Recovery Mode after reading this article.
I am a young student who's just an amateur about Android and I really don't know what to do.
How can I restart the phone or flash a new ROM in this case?
Please type me some tricks or a new Bible to fix this problem.
Flash this recovery
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
Enter the recovery and connect the cable, enter the mounts and storage menu and mount the sdcard as a mass storage device. Then give it a couple of minutes to pop up in windows as a drive.
I think you didn't flashed the boot.img via fastboot of the rom ?!

Uhm, I guess I did everything wrong cauz only thing I did was following the steps of programme called One X. And how can I flash this recovery? I don't know how to put this file into the phone. By the way, sdcard seems already mounted cauz when I enter Mounts and Storage Menu, the option I see is "unmount /sdcard". (on ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.2.7)

And no, nothing pops up after mounting sdcard...
That recovery is way too old ! It doesn't support usb mass storage and also does not charge the battery.
Look on the pc in the toolkit directory for a file called fastboot.exe, when you found it you put my recovery in that folder and rename it to recovery.img
Point in that folder with the mouse and hold down shift and click the right mouse button and select open command window here.
Then you put the phone in the fastboot folder and type this in the command window
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter the recovery and mount the sdcard

1 - I put your file as recovery.img next to fastboot.exe into Desktop\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20131030\sdk\platform-tools . Is this right?
2 - Command Window is cmd, right?
Seems oke to me.....flash it and find out

"Battery level is too low to flash FASTBOOT"
This is what's written on FASTBOOT screen...
Thank you, by the way.
Oke new thing to do.
Put this file in the fastboot folder
https://www.dropbox.com/s/aaah8gqz8j024xz/Batt script.bat
Leave the phone in the bootloader/fastboot usb mode and execute the .bat file with admin rights.
Select the .bat file with the right mouse button and select
Run as administrator
It will restart the bootloader continuously and charge it little by little. Leave it going until it reaches around 3800 mV
Then flash the recovery and enter it !

I did it all, I run the file as administrator and these warnings on cmd.exe are being repeated per every 5 secs: "
C:\Windows\system32>ping /n 6 localhost 1>nul
C:\Windows\system32>goto start
C:\Windows\system32>fastboot getvar battery-voltage
'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Is the phone constantly rebooting ?
Edit :
Copy all the files from the platform tools folder into the windows system and system32 folder. Not the folder but all the files inside it !

I did this but I got 3 errors saying that AdbWinApi.dll can't work well. Also when I run the bat file, it says "
C:\Windows\system32>" @ECHO off
'" @ECHO off' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\Windows\system32>fastboot getvar battery-voltage

"
No, it's not rebooting. I have a stabil screen. I took a picture of it. Please check it out.
Do you think that I should try these with another computer?
Alright .... Copy the files from the platform tools to the windows system 32 folder and open a command window there. Then run the script again.
You must see "fastboot usb" on the phones screen in the bootloader !

I'm gonna try this again. I'll let you know. Thank you very much. By the way, could you check this pic I got? This is when I open HBOOT by pressing Power Button when it's on FASTBOOT. What's your comment?
Yeah that message is normal, Its because the usb cable is connected when you enter the bootloader
