If you flash a custom kernel, you won't need that app, and you will have full plug-n-play HDMI mirroring. If you download Kernel Manager Lite from the Market, you want the "PoonSense" kernel. That's the stock Gingerbread kernel, with HDMI mirroring built in. No reason to downgrade.
+1 on that Capt is the man who knows.

A note about Kernel Manager - you can't let it flash the kernel for you - it won't work. After it downloads, you'll need to reboot into recovery and flash it manually. There should be a Kernel Manager folder on the SD card that contains the downloaded kernel.

Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache? You should always do that before flashing a kernel (after wouldn't hurt either, I guess).
I can't think of any reason you would get stuck, if it was working previously.
EDIT: Actually, I just thought of one - what recovery are you using? If it's not RA-supersonic, then that's likely your problem.
Poonsense
Hi - I downloaded the kernel poonsense and have the same exact problem- phone wont boot up keeps going to the white screen back to the Sinister 'droid' screen before which is usually the screen before lock screen but goes back to white htc screen back and forth- any suggestions?
Thanks,
TJ

don't use that kernel, try lionfish or chop seuy follow the flash instructions I posted above and you should be good to go. Also I believe he put as2d in the ROM so if you have a partition you will see the evo white screen 3 times before it boots.

Hi I've got everything back up and running with a new ' lionfish' kernel - what a pain in the ass but wrks great so far. Does this kernel have full hdmi mirroring?- I wont be able to test it out for a day.
Thanks again,
TJ

If there is anyone that can help me with a kernel so i can push forward on making my ROM
I flashed ICS from MR.X's base and I tweaked it, slimmed it, added goodies trying to build my ROM.
I cant push apps via adb..
cant remount the system either
The kernel is insecure i believe and when i flash that insecure kernel i still get "operation not permitted"
Can anyone walk me around this...its driving me insane!
I know nothing about kernels!

Try in CWM, mounting /system/ ... See how that works.
Also try to use an app that needs R/W like Root Explorer. See if it works.

OHHH. Got it man. So mounting straight from recovery didn't work? Rare, also, have you tried Venom or stock kernel? Cause I am running Venom and I have no issues what so ever with root explorer. Even with stock kernel I didn't have a problem with it. I'm getting the impression it's ROM wise.

I can get into fastboot and flashtool still though, just not into cwm. Can anyone PLEASE tell me what to do, step by step? Where can I get stock kernel (if this is what I need) and what should I do? Well the phone stops at the SONY logo and I can't enter CWM to restore my old ROM. Any idea what to do? Please...?
Use Flashtool to flash some other Kernel (Like SEGA), than you should be able to enter cwm and Restore Files.
Hope i helped ^^

Thanks! I've already tried with sega and managed to get into CWM, now restoring ROM from a backup. Will try ktg, if this doesn't work...
All Roms exept. CM10 and some MIUI Versions are working on it (Sony Stock Based)
Jelly Sandwich and Xperia HD are the ones i would use.
Glad it worked ^^
Great, it worked with sega kernel! Thanks for quick responses and your help! BTW, is segav9 kernel good or is this some emergency only kernel? I'm sorry if I sound silly but I really do not know what kernel does actually. Can I load some good rom if I'm on it or should I flash some other kernel now that my phone is OK?
SEGA should be good enought, im using it too!
But you can try other Stock Based Kernels if you want.
Dont forget to Flash drivers for WLAN ^^

Use the "WIFI DRIVERS" from the Kernel Thread and Flash it, if you use a Kernel that has no Drivers, you probaly can use any Driver.
Also, i dont recommend to install this 8.1 Thingy, i had much Problems with it ^^

I know its like TT said, a boot.img can not be flashed from inside the running OS or via an app on the phone .... It must be done in fastboot. Its impossible unless you have s-off.
Like i stated, try another rom completely different and you will see it does not work.
