Bricked ARC S - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have managed to brick my phone...my fault really as I don't know much about custom roms and I've tried to use god knows which kernel with jelly sandwich mod. I can get into fastboot and flashtool still though, just not into cwm. Can anyone PLEASE tell me what to do, step by step? Where can I get stock kernel (if this is what I need) and what should I do? Please, I need phone for the weekend and don't have a spare one...
thanks in advance guys!

wrong thread mate :silly:

And when you can't enter into CWM this doesn't mean that you brick your phone.

Well the phone stops at the SONY logo and I can't enter CWM to restore my old ROM. Any idea what to do? Please...?

Use Flashtool to flash some other Kernel (Like SEGA), than you should be able to enter cwm and Restore Files.
Hope i helped ^^

I've already tried to flash with flashtool, the problem is, I don't know which Kernel I should use. Any link to the right one that will work?

Thanks! I've already tried with sega and managed to get into CWM, now restoring ROM from a backup. Will try ktg, if this doesn't work...

All Roms exept. CM10 and some MIUI Versions are working on it (Sony Stock Based)
Jelly Sandwich and Xperia HD are the ones i would use.
Glad it worked ^^

Great, it worked with sega kernel! Thanks for quick responses and your help! BTW, is segav9 kernel good or is this some emergency only kernel? I'm sorry if I sound silly but I really do not know what kernel does actually. Can I load some good rom if I'm on it or should I flash some other kernel now that my phone is OK?

SEGA should be good enought, im using it too!
But you can try other Stock Based Kernels if you want.
Dont forget to Flash drivers for WLAN ^^

The Drivers are Flashed with CWM, its always a .zip file!
That works without Problems, trust me

When u can seen sony logo then ur phone is not bricked..
Remove ur battery, reinsert and switch on ur mobile
When u see Sony logo wait till the notification LED turns on
Once notification LED is turned on then press all the 3 hardware button (Back, Home & Menu) together..
Now u will be able to enter CWM screen..

Use the "WIFI DRIVERS" from the Kernel Thread and Flash it, if you use a Kernel that has no Drivers, you probaly can use any Driver.
Also, i dont recommend to install this 8.1 Thingy, i had much Problems with it ^^

[Q] How to boot to recovery?

Hey peeps - another annoying n00b question (sorry)
I have the Doom v3 kernel and stock 2.3.3
Just want to know how I can boot into recovery so I can install a ROM zip?
I have tried every combination of buttons on startup including Power then tapping and holding Back and I cant get into recovery mode.
Please help i really want to try the GingerStation rom
Turn device off. When off press the power button once, then start tapping any hardware button untill device boots into recovery. You can also try doomlords xCharge app from the market.
Sorry i havent been very active in the forums recently. I will be updating rom soon with some cool features and a new name

AFAIK you have to boot into recovery the standard way. Like the person above described. Once you do that CWM creates a directory in /cache called "recovery" then xCharge works fine
OmG it worked.. thanks alot guys!!

If not, do you know how to do that?
No, it's completely stock, I've read I have to flash a file in recovery, I've got it, but I don't know how to reboot in recovery with button combination.
To get cwm, root using doomlords easy toolkit, search development
Then install this app and click install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler
After you have installed that, boot on your phone, and when you see the sony ericsson screen, repeatedly tap volume down until you get into cwm
WOW! It's very easy this way, thanks a lot
Another quick question, now bootloader is unlocked?
Can I flash any custom roms like any other device? (flash in recovery mode)
Thanks again.
That way i showed is to install CWM with a LOCKED bootloader.
This will allow you to flash STOCK based roms, no others
This is not unlocking bootloader, just getting CWM
If you want to unlock your bootloader, you have to go to the sony website or pay to unlock it
Oh, so I can't flash CM roms, but I can with stock based, right?
I knew about Sony website, but I though there was other ways to have the bootloader unlocked.
Well, thank you a lot, now I have to find a good stock based rom.

That rom is for PrimoC is your phone the CDMA version or the PrimoU (GSM)?
If yours is a primoU then you cannot use the C's ROMS on your phone (will do exactly the same things you write down here). Try this instead. It is the same ROM just for GSM.

route A
have you got the custom kernel installed (titanium) if so remove it, as it's not compatible with CDMA phones, and flash the stock boot.img for the VM\CDMA phone...then reinstall a rom..
Route B
there could be something up with the custom rom so try this one out, http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...e-V-Stock-ROM-Deodex-Odex&p=236726#post236726

You still didn't tell what version of cm you were using. As far as I know a wrong kernel flash can brick the phone. Though that stuff is beyond my knowledge so you should wait untill someone more qualified could answer you. I'm not sure if a simple flash rom would solve the problem.

ah, so that was the problem. Glad everything worked out : D
Yes, that should fix. Bootloop occurs when our system crash. So, it cant be loaded. It is also called a softbrick. But it is not really dangerous, as we can simply flash back our rom back, as long it is save on your sdcard. Also you can restore nandroid backup. Nandroid backup is a backup for our system if our system crash. It can crash, if the rom we download did not aborted or something, our system should not be crash. That's why after every download, we need to verify the md5sum.

well for 4.2.2 roms u need a 4.2.2 kernel
and Paranoid Android 4.2.2 is not stable(doesnt boot even with kernel)
so if u want a working phone, flash A sense ROM since you're already on Titanium KISS kernel
and for jelly bean, u can try Shpongle
but remember to flash the correct kernel

r1-primo-2.09-superboot.zip
Is this the correct ROM file of all ROM files??
Also just to confirm, this is the sequence to go...
apply image "boot-TK-USB-201211140025" using cmd on fastboot,
reboot into recovery and install zip using recovery...
reboot..
Thanks a lot..
Please confirm which file is for the rom
