[Q] Please Help - Boot Loop - Sprint Note 2 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have little experience with rooting and roms, so I am really stuck. I rooted and installed Jellybomb 11.0 back in December. The system updates have been driving me crazy and the phones performance has slipped a bit. Anyway, I was playing around and tried to reboot to recovery and it seems to be in a bootloop. The teamwin screen is on and flashes every 5 seconds or so and I don't know how to get out of it. I tried pulling the battery, no luck.
Please help, thanks.

If u can still boot into jellybomb, I would try reflashing twrp with goo manager. Hit menu and install open recovery script. Also, if u used the tool kit I believe u can flash recovery only from there but u may still want to update with goomanager to be sure u have the latest..

Thanks for the advice, but its over my head. I could get into download mode, but that was it. I gambled on unrooting and reloaded stock 4.1.1 and it worked. It was very buggy for about an hour as many things updated and then smoothed out. Everything is still there. The only thing I didn't have backups of was my texts and that was the only thing I was worryed about losing. So they're backed up now. Tomorrow I'll root it again...

I as well have this same problem. Basically I've reverted to downloading the latest EL29 Download from the wikia, then re-rooting the device using the auto root without Odin.
Then, and only then can you flash a rom, but only once then you will have to repeat this process
P.S. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP INCASE THIS DOESNT WORK.
hope this helps http://youtu.be/_vmEmheJnyg
Md5 checker plp. Its free. Use it love it. Bad download.Or give it some time first boot can take upto around 6to8 min. Be patient it pays off.
ok finally was able to fix it. the youtube video was perfect and super easy to follow and odin only took a 3 minutes to fix the issue. i wish i knew exactly what i did wrong though.
Congrats OP. Way to go. prolly a bad dwnld. Md5checker babby. Give it a try. You might be surprised at how often roms get fukt when downloading. Also I do all my downloading from my phone. So dont believe the hype about only use your comp for ROM dwnlds. I have only had two bad dwnlds from my phone, way more from my comp.

[Q] HELP, [email protected] ATT fails to boot after GOO flash...

I am not even sure where to ask this properly, as it could be a goo manager issue, a twrp issue or a CM10.1 issue. I was doing fine with the 10.1 nightly of CM. I decided that i only wanted to flash once in a while, so went and downloaded and flashed the 10.1 monthly experimental build with GOO manager. It did it's thing, and than rebooted. It than fails to get antywhere. It shows the initial Samsung logo with the modded CM guy on it, and than freezes to a black screen after like 5 seconds. It doesn't get as far as the usual Cyanogen mod circle screen... I waited like 30 minutes before pulling the battery. It is stuck there. i was able to get into the odin flash screen. What should I do? I am kinda new to this stuff...
Thanks!
PS, I am going to bed and will check replies in about 8 hours
Make sure you have the correct download for your model.
Can you get into recovery? If so, you could try wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache then reboot.
If you're still having issues, restore a backup.

I tried flashing ROM's on my cappy using goo manager and I could never get it to work. IT's best not to use it to flash ROM's. I suggest you bot into recovery and restore a backup. Booot up and redownload the ROM but not with goo manager. I got too many bad downloads using goo manager to realize it wasn't a shortcut at. Just boot into recovery with the goo manager app if you like and flash the ROM in TWRP or CWM

Go to SamMobile, register first (registration is free) and download the stock firmware for your S2x (SGH-T989D) and flash with Odin. I've given you the link(s) on the other site where you asked the question and included some additional information there. Feel free to communicate here if you run into further difficulty.

Since you can't revert back to the stock OS, flash the firmware and don't worry about wiping just yet. The Darkside SuperWipe method is used prior to installing a custom ROM. Download the appropriate firmware (4.1.2.) and get your T989D up and running first. Root the device and install a custom recovery. You may want to choose a CWM (ClockWorkMod) recovery as the Darkside SuperWipe works best with CWM. Download the QuickBoot app from the Playstore, this allows you to boot into recovery mode without having to press the volume up/down/power combination of buttons used to access recovery mode.
Do not skip any steps, instructions borrowed from TheDerekJay's Darkside SuperWipe page.
IMMEDIATELY BEFORE FLASHING ROM OF YOU CHOICE, DO THE FOLLOWING...
1. Place on ROOT of your SD card.
2. Boot into Recovery Mode
3. Do a NAND BACKUP!!!
4. Flash DARKSIDE SUPERWIPE
5. Stay inside recovery
6. Flash desired ROM.
7. After flashing is complete, Reboot...
8. Done!
At most, ten minutes tops. I've run into instances of fifteen minutes. If you're not seeing results by the twenty minute mark, you'll have to start over. Do not use nightly's or release candidates, especially if you want to use the custom ROM for stable everyday operation. If I've missed any steps, I'm sure others will add to this.

I think it might be best to get your S2x back to stock. If this is the only device you have, then it's probably not a good idea to start experimenting. If something should go wrong, you'll be without a phone. I started by practicing on a Galaxy Ace to get the hang of rooting and installing custom ROM's and gradually progressed to the S2x, HTC Raider etc. I'm not trying to discourage you, but I think you need to do a little more reading/research and gather the tools that you'll need to familiarize yourself with how this all works.
yeah, i think to :good:
with all the test i do i think i'm lucky to not brick my phone
i reflash with odin and it now work fine
i try the other solution but not work
when i want to install cyanogen. i'm gonna see on XDA forum for help first
If you're looking to squeeze a little more performance out of your device, rooting alone is a good option. At the moment, I've reverted back to stock firmware (4.2.1.) and only rooted the device. I've removed and/or quarantined most of the carrier and manufacturer bloatware (software not necessarily needed, but installed by carrier/manufacturer) and the S2x flies, zero lag and swiping through pages is incredibly fast.
I'm not sure which solution you're referring to, glad to hear your S2x is back up and running though. :good: I should add that the S2x is an aging device which is why we haven't seen a ton of answers to your post, lol. Maybe when you decide to upgrade to an S4 or something, you can use the S2x as a test device to practice with.

U need to go get the updated recovery, use twrp v2.6.1.0 from here techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules, flash the tar. file with odin then download the ROM of choice, put on SD card and boot to recovery, DO NOT use any superwipe/supercache wipe script with twrp, it can break things, do a full wipe in twrp (advanced wipe menu) data, system, dalvik cache, and cache, 3x each, the flash ROM, flash gapps, reboot and let the phone sit ten min, then reboot again and set up, should be fine, u need to be on a newer recovery to flash these new roms..

No just go to the link I provided, download the tar file, put the device in download mode, and use Odin to flash the recovery tar file just like u would if u were going back stock, but only flash the recovery, or if u u really want to, go to the dev section and find the twrp thread and find the flashable zip file, that u can flash with cwm, but either way u don't need to return to stock, I suggest using the Odin method I proscribed ..

why does my phone just freezes at the teamwin screen? i odin flashed the v2.6.1.0 of twrp because i read the v2.6.3 is very buggy.

yea i just went to http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules and downloaded the http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules.tar file. the one thats downloaded 678 times. went to odin and flashed the tar file a second time. the same result is happening that it just freezes at the teamwin screen. the odin passed and i let the phone reboot with the cable in and it just boot looped since my phone is having boot loops problems. i take the battery out and try to go into recovery mode but it just freezes up at that blue team win screen. is there a button im supposed to press while on that screen to move or something
hmm..i had to odin flash the twrp 6.0.3 for it not to freeze up on the team win screen.

So now everything boots up ok?
no twrp v2.6.3.1
---------- Post added at 01:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 AM ----------
but yea i dont understand why the 2.6.1.0 freezes at the team win screen but the 2.6.3 dont freeze up. i heard the 2.6.3 is very buggy atm. so im not sure should i risk flashing with this version or give the twrp 2.6.1 one more try.
That is weird, I had no problem with 2.6.1 maybe give it another shot at least you'll know for sure. As for the button combination, I just use the volume up/down keys and power to get into recovery, trick I found was to let go of power right after that slight vibration and keep holding both volume keys until the TeamWin logo appears.
yea it froze up again with the team win v2.6.1.0. i guess my only option atm is to flash with the 2.6.3 since im boot looped. im gonna try and flash that ROM Hellybean
So you have an S2?
yes tmobile galaxy s2 t989, something is wrong with teh phone. im on twrp 2.6.3, when i tried to advance wipe data, system, and all that it just freezes for like 30 mins. had to pull battery.

[Q] Please help.Phone soft bricked(?)Cant go in recovery,only downloading/Odin mode..

Members, really done it this time!!!:crying:
I have successfully re flashed stock firmware today 4.1.2 back on the phone. It worked great, thanks to you guys help. :good: Needed to solve a few issues, I was so happy to achieve that.
THEN I tried to root my phone again, and install CWM via ODIN (3.07)I unzipped the CWM file added on the PDA etc . Waited, then FAIL. Phone booted back up a message saying ''Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies, and try again'' With a pic' of a pc and a phone. Have tried to fix with Kies, though no luck, I guess I don't have a recovery system in the phone now
Now I can't boot into recovery mode Tried just goes in the message above.
Lucky though there is a glimmer of hope as I can get into downloading mode/Odin by pressing -volume down, menu, power button.. Says system status ;Official, Current Bin :Custom. Custom Bin Down yes (5 counts)
So I can't use the phone, just in the 'modes' described above.
I am a newbie to this techie stuff, enjoying learning, that said, I lost a lot of possessions n' money last year, and the phone is the only possession I have now, and it's not working now.
If any members have any ideas, if and how I can fix my phone. Please let me know. I am hoping I can use some files to fix(?) with Odin.?
Thanks in advance, and big respect for any help to get my loved phone up and running. Or do you think rather than waste days trying to find info' and fix it, I should get my credit card out and buy another phone?
Sincerely appreciated any help, Alex
Have you used philz recovery or CWM recovery?Which baseband version are you using?

Update
Tried to sleep, but could not, so burning mid night oil. Thought all I need to do, is reflash firmware, and should be good. Seems like the USB ports/or USB cable is the problem? Seems in Odin it adds/ removed. Tried flashing firemware, then removed 1/4 the way through. Not good...
At least I think this is what happened during CWM /root before.
Going to try to tomorrow day time on another laptop.
If you guys/girls have an ideas/thoughts,please let me know:good:
Thanks, Alex

Reflashed this today 4.1.2 XAMC7 STOCK from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43797796
Guess thats the baseband? Can't obviously access settings now to check my device.
Like I said, had just reflashed stock successfully, and had the stock recovery ,then tried to add CWM with ODIN on the download mode, though the download was a fail, maybe as my USB/ports seem to be iffy...? So phone has no recovery, only the download mode and other page as explained above.
No so have not tried those 2 recovery as phone as no recovery at all now !)=
PS In download mode, does the battery still charge, if on the usb cable, ? Worried battery draining away.
Thanks in advance for any help, Regards, Alex

have you updated to the kitkat bootloader. if you have and try to use the cf root made for our device the recovery is no longer usable. google search cf auto root for n9005 kitkat. that one works though it will install the recovery for the n9005 but is functional other than that i would say go to sammobile.com and make an account (free) then download wich ever version you had running wether it be 4.3 or 4.4 then use 7zip and extract the recover.img then flash that using odin.....

I used the ROM Installer app and downloaded the Pac-Man Rom + Gapps, booted into recovery (using twrp.) I then wiped the data, cache, dalvik, and then tried installing the zip files i had downloaded. It would at first just reboot my phone normally and so I downloaded the a aokp Rom off the internet and onto my flash drive, then used a cable to attach both the phone and drive and tried installing the Aokp ROM. That then put my into a loop, I was able to get out of it by using Odin and flashing the openrecoverytwrp.2.6.3.0.img which got me booting back to normal. Sooo I then tried again and then lost the option of getting into recovery.
Their ROM is 4.4. What boot loader do you have. Did you update to kit Kat?

OK do this go to sammiemobile get the factory stock. Flash thru Odin. Then reboot make sure it stock. Download to your PC the ROM you want. Cf auto root and the recovery you like for kit Kat. Don't use any app to download anything. Once you set. Then do the cfautoroot. Let that cycle. Then flash recovery thru Odin. Then reboot. Then power down and reboot into recovery . it works .good. Boot up then add ROM to SD reboot recovery and flash. Done.
Factory wipe before going stock.

You don't keep holding those buttons when the red and blue and yellow words pop up do you? Our phone allows us to hold the power button for about 6 seconds and it will reboot.
Let up off those buttons you're holding when trying to boot into recovery as soon as you see the blue and red and yellow writing.
The blue writing states that you're already booting Into recovery.
Tl;dr You're holding the buttons too long after it reboots. Let off them.
Eek, I just read the steps you tried to resolve this. Sorry you had to go through that. I don't think that was your issue, but I just thought I'd throw my 2cents in
BTW if this is not the case, then disregard please.

I did exactly what you said and it worked! I appreciate your help!!!!!! I just downloaded the stock firmware and my phone booted back to factory settings. I haven't rooted it yet. I have a few different cf auto root files, is this the correct one CF-Auto-Root-hlte-htlexx-smn9005.tar.md5?
Just out of curiosity, which back up do you prefer cwm or twrp?

You don't keep holding those buttons when the red and blue and yellow words pop up do you? Our phone allows us to hold the power button for about 6 seconds and it will reboot.
Let up off those buttons you're holding when trying to boot into recovery as soon as you see the blue and red and yellow writing.
The blue writing states that you're already booting Into recovery.
Tl;dr You're holding the buttons too long after it reboots. Let off them.

Yeah it's all good, I got it fixed finally. I'm not exactly sure what my issue was I'm just glad it's working. I tend to try different things with my phone or phones i've had in the past without, I just wasn't careful enough to what I was doing I guess. Are you running cm ROM on your N3?

Yup that is the right cf auto root. I have flashed both recovery thru Odin. Work great both times. I used cwm up until 3 days ago. Switched because one of my friends was having issues and wanted to make sure it was not a recovery thing. Been on twrp and it good. Glad I could help you. Enjoy the greatness of this phone.

Dam it i got the same problem but i really can't boot into recovery or download mode. Anyone know how i can adb into download mode?
Edit: Figured it out... thank god.
Just a heads up. Next time to save time of a huge file download. Just download another Recovery for your device. You flashed a corrupt recovery which caused your phone to not go into recovery at all. Always ensure the model # matches yours also.

Also flashing CF-Auto Root does not help a bad recovery fix, it just roots your phone, so you flashing CF AutoRoot was of no use at that point.

The reason he got the bootloop was cause cf root does it. That is why he needed to download the cf auto root euro version.

I don't think its that. If it is their post should be in the International Note 3 9005 thread, not T-Mobiles thread, and seeing that they have been rooted before ( i know because thats the only way they could reboot to recovery with rom manager) they must have used the n900t CF AutoRoot which is correct if the person have the T-Mobile version. Reading through and seeing that they never confirmed or have been asked for their phone model, just the second post person suggesting stuff for the 9005 without questions, since he/she said they haven't rooted yet after successfully booting up from the stock flash, he/she haven't used the 9005 Auto Root as yet which I think they shouldn't as they might brick their phone. His recovery went bad after he flashed the wrong recovery to their phone.

Let's agree to disagree. But if you check chainfires tweet he even said to use the cf euro version because it plays right with the TMOBILE. I have helped may bootloopers with just changing the root method. Just ask the op. He tried just the recovery with bootloops. And it was the right one cause he used the one I used.
