I think your best bid is to go with a replacement

That is y I got our note 2s from best buy.. Their ins. is a lot better than sprint and costs 10 a month per line.. Oh, and no deductible..
Sent from my awesome phone made amazing by labrats!!

I would get replacement. I think doing your own repair may not only void warranty but maybe even the insurance. I know bb warranty doesn't cover loss or theft but I'm glad I don't have a deductible and $11 a month payment. I paid for mine up front and it came out to around $7/month. Either way, get replacement. There's a chance they may even send you a new one.

Anyone have experience getting sprint to replace cracked screen?

As the subject suggests.. My phone was on the counter on top of the paper. When my 14 month old pulled the paper whalla phone comes off counter onto ceramic tile floor. Case around the phone blows off, battery case etc..
The phone still works, including the buttons at the bottom but the glass is spidered all over the bottom.
So I take the phone to Sprint the tech tells me I will need to pay $100. I said but I have the insurance. He tells me doesn't matter.
Any suggestions? Not sure what I am paying $8 month for.

This. The insurance pays to cover some of the cost of a refurbished phone, in case they can't fix the broken part($30). In your case they can't fix it I bet or it wouldn't work out in some way, so your going to get a refurbished(or on a rare occasion a brand new phone) for the $100.

Yes, and the $100 is the insurance deductible for smartphones. If you got it at Best Buy and got their insurance there is no deductible but it is $11 a month and no lost or stolen coverage.

Yea they cant fixed cracked screens or that is what I was told. I had to pay the 100.00 to get my phone replaced.
Sprint authorized repair center told me they couldn't fix my cracked screen and I had to pay the $100 deductible to get a refurb from Assurion. Being the cheapskate I am, I got on craigslist and found a bad ESN Epic for $50, talked the guy down to $40, watched this (youtube.com/watch?v=g6npRaFm0d4) video, and was able to do it myself.
Disassemble both phones up to about the 2:15 mark. From there, I simply took the innards from my phone and put them into the phone with the good screen. Don't forget to take the ESN sticker from your original phone and put it onto the new phone so the numbers match inside and out. Took me about 15-20 minutes to complete and it saved me $60.
First post so I couldn't post an actual link to the video, sorry.

Glass screen-shattered!

Hello everyone, I shattered the glass screen on my T-989. Digitizer still works and the phone is running fine0. Im really bummed out ....anyways I have insurance but I would rather pay $50-80 for the part and do it myself than pay the deductible of $130. I have searched for the glass screen but I think our device is too new for anyone to make it...any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to whomever can help
digitizer and all is one piece.. it is 150$ and only can be gotten from samsung

Those are LCD replacements. They are not AMOLED.
Same thing happen to me the other day. I paid the $130 deductible and had a new one the next day. Unfortunately my Ghost Armor couldn't protect the phone from my butterfingers.
oh i c.. it does say LCD lol my bad... how great would it be if they can do an upgraded superamoled plus HD ?

thanks for the input...taking the time to get the screen and installing it into consideration i will just have to do the insurance claim. Thanks
Samsung charges $160 to fix the screen. It happened to mine two weeks ago. They also pay for shipping. I had no insurance but still feel paying full price to get it repaired is better than paying that deductible + monthly payments for insurance. Anyways I heard it only takes a week for the turn around time.
I have the Telus T989D (same screen) but am now living in the Middle East and cannot get the part here, any idea how I can get it replaced over here?
Samsung Middle East is sort of useless.

[Q] Screen replacment

Hello, everyone I was just wondering if anyone knew why the galaxy s3 screen replacement is 5 times more than the iphone 4s screen. The s3 screen is around 230 on amazon and the iphone screen is only 40 some dollars. I was just wondering since I have replaced an iphone screen and it was pretty easy and cheap. So if I break my s3 screen its going to cost more to fix it than it is to get a new phone with my insurance. Unless someone knows where to get cheaper screens from. Thanks
My friend has an iphone fixing business and says it's almost impossible to get real oem screens and all the ones you see online are Chinese knockoffs.
40 is expensive btw for a Chinese one.
A real iphone screen is about 100 according to him though the 10 ones are just as good.
(though he buys in bulk from alibaba)

Replacing just the glass for the s3 should run you about $25 or so.
Screen plus the digitizer will run you closer to $300.

Hey brother listen. There a repair center for samsung called RSI here in dallas texas. Its located in plano and they offer repair services for warranty phones and they charged me exactly $165 to change out the screen and digitizer. I have proof on this on my receipt when I had mine done. Its legit oem gear, no china crap. Check it out

The digitizer is attached to the screen itself, isn't it? (I know that the iPhone 4/4S and 5 have the LCD, digitizer and screen all fused together)
Are there any reliable sources from where to buy SGH-i747(m) screens?
Aside from going straight to a Samsung repair center?
No sure. Just got a replacement screen off of eBay and although it says Samsung on it I have doubts it is an authentic OEM part.

Galaxy SIII Housing

I currently have 2 SIII housings that some people may enjoy snagging up from me. Both had broken glass plates but those are definitely replaceable. I actually just got both of my SIII housing replaced for $150 total ($75/) by a Sprint technician that I know personally and he let me keep the older housing alongside the camera hardware but not motherboard due to him saying that he unfortunately has to send that bsck which stinks but no problem. Instead of spending $300 on two replacement SIIIs from insurance I got both fixed by a sprint technician for the price of one insurance claim even though since glass was broken he is not allowed to fix/replace device/screen. Anyways, anyone inrerested in picking up even one to practice or learn how to apply a replacement glass plate on the front?

What colors? How much? Could we get a few pictures.....
Yea , I can throw up a few pictures. Sorry, used to people already knowing that when I have spare parts I do not charge anything or charge very little for them. I will upload once I wake up a little nore for you all. I have 2 white housings. I will most likely guaranteed get rid of one but would like to keep one unless someone is willing to pay a few bucks for the second one.

Pm me please. I'd definitely like a white housing and am absolutely willing to throw you a few for it.

All PMs have been replied to. I didn't realize Tapatalk has been giving me errors when checking PMs so just figured people weren't interested. Sorry about all that. Will be checking manually now over the web for PMs as often as I can(Probably every hour or so when I am able to). Thanks, all.

Idea help? Screen cracked

Im so frustrated right now with this phone. Yesterday i was sitting on a bench with a couple friends and when i stood up the phone fell from the bench where i had it resting. The bench itself is only a 1-2 feet tall! and when i picked it up, the screen on the edge has cracked
the phone has been in a case since day one (spigen ultra clear hybrid case ) and it wasn't even a hard fall or from any big height!! so i ask myself how strong is the gorilla glass 4 really that it would crack from that height?
I just bought the phone last weekend and i have insurance on the phone but they're saying i need to pay an additional $175 for a replacement? Ive already paid off more than half the phone off, paying that 175 is like buying the phone outright. it just doesn't make sense to me.
any ideas how i can get this fixed? i think paying them an additional $175 on top of the $8 they already get from me is ridiculous. i could put those $8 apart and buy a whole new phone with what i've paid them.
It's obvious you're quite emotional still, over this episode. The trauma of an expensive new phone, losing most it's value in less than one second is disheartening, especially when it's due to your own fault..
Because of this it's clear that your emotions have clouded your rationale..
Are you really saying that paying $175 for a ~$800 replacement phone is not OK?
Wouldn't the $8/month insurance premium be irrelevant here since, you just bought the phone last week?
Although, this too is an irrelevant point, concerning insurance coverage, I thought it was interesting that you've, again, had it only one week, yet you've already paid half the phone off? Was this by choice or was your credit less than ideal for T-Mobile?
And l saved the best for last, is it safe to assume you had zero knowledge that a $175 deductible is required to be paid on any insurance claims, at the time you agreed to pay $8/month for insurance?

Moreover, $8/month insurance can be canceled at Ops discretion.
