Laggy nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

My nexus has been very laggy for some odd reason at first I thought it was 4.2.2 then I downgraded and I still have heavy lag. Does anyone have any recommendations for a ROM and kernel ? List what u think is the best combo

Searching is hard.

Clear dalvik cache, it worked for me.

Cleared everything i still get lag spikes

I hate doing the "best rom and kernel" thing cause its so subjective. There are many good roms. Try them and see what works best for you. As for kernel, I've been using AK kernel exclusively since December and I've never used a better kernel. Its worked well for me on every rom I've used. Right now I'm on cm10.1 nightlies and it's great. Hope this helps you out.

Priceless.

Was I not supposed to do that? Because in my complete ignorance of why my phone and apps where lagging it occurred to me to clear all kinds of cache, first thing I did was clear dalvik and it worked.

Check my Thread ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211784

I actually found using the ported MIUI v5 around here which is using stock on 4.1.2 seems to be a lot more rounded in terms of performance than any 4.2.2 rom

rasbean or atom+anarkia diamond kernel

The last couple weeks I've been a flashaholic as I just got this phone after my wife upgraded. I just several of the most popular Roms, but Paranoid Android with the kernel it comes with has done the best for me. Again, as someone said, best rom/kernel is pretty suggestive. Good news is that we have an awesome development community.
Good luck.

Question- choppy/unstable Bluetooth?

K so when I fist got my gnex I could use it with my Bluetooth speakers from a far range I could be like two rooms away and could still here it fine and it would be smooth. That was stock. Now that I'm rooted and running aokp it is horrible. I can't be more than 4 or 5 feet from the speakers without it cutting in and out and being really unusable.... would this be the rom (aokp M5) or the kernel (latest Franco nightly)?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Could be either, especially if AOKP is using the wrong bcmdhd.cal for the device.

You answered your own question. Go back to stock if you need things to work properly. Custom roms are experimental at best, since they introduce all kinds of problems, including app incompatibility, hardware instability and broken features (like voicemail notifications not working).
Good luck.

Sorry it took long lol I'm at work so I had to go on chrome and try to get it on there then I had to zip it with androzip ....

Looking at it now.
Well, it is the right one. I know the Verizon version has been modified to fix choppy BT. It may or may not work for you. You are welcome to try it, but back up your current one.
Okay thanks I will try it when I get home

Why ask on XDA? The fix is stated clearly & plainly on the OP in rootzwiki. Do go and read it in full, for your own (but especially our) benefit.

JB Native Screenshot Not Working CDMA VZW Nexus

Hey guys,
I'm on the Vicious V3 JB ROM and ever since I've installed JB since V1, I've noticed my native screenshot (vol + power) doesn't work.
Anyone else having this same issue and/or know how to fix it?
Thanks!!

Works on my CDMA Verizon Nexus. Pretty sure its just Vicious. I use Vanirbean, and its fine.

Yeah. I figured it was just a ROM bug. Will look at Vanirbean. This was the first JB ROM I installed. It worked so I never changed. Lol
Guess I'll be looking at alternatives. Lol
Thanks for the input.

Well I tried VanirBean. Native screenshot still not working. I was able to do a dirty flash with just wiping dalvik and cache. They said in that thread that it would be fine.
Idk what's up. No JB ROM works. Screenshot was working on ICS before I flashed JB.
Anyone?

[FIX] Lag fix for cm10 based roms (cm10, paranoid android, jellybro)

I have a fix for the lagginess in builds from the past week and a half or so. The culprit is the surface flinger library. It is the android compositing system and some changes recently made to it are responsible for the significant lag in recent builds. Most noticeable spot is if you hit the home button if you have the notification drawer down. It becomes extremely laggy without this patch. Scrolling is also less smooth whenever multiple things on the screen are being drawn. This fixes all those issues.
Just flash this in cwm or whatever recovery you choose. Should work on all cm10 builds and cm10 based roms like paranoid android.
Merged into cyanogemod on September 19th

Thanks for this! The lag was literally the only thing that kept me going back to JellyBelly. I love me some CM!
Thought this might be another placebo thing but damn, this really works! The usual spots of minor lag like scrolling the app lists in the play store, gmail, play music are now smooth as eggs.
Good job, man.

You can try. I think they're cm10 based. Files also only like 190kb BTW. This actually should work on any device as well.

Did you go back to stock AFTER 4.1.2 update?

Simple, I would like to know how many of you went back to stock ROM after 4.1.2 was released. I tried a couple of ROMs that had the update included and I was having so many data drops, SOD, Google server disconnections that I said "**** this" and flashed the latest factory image on my phone.
My previous phone was a Motorola Atrix. That phone never received ICS, much less JB update. It made sense to unlock it and flash a tasty JB ROM even if it had bugs. I strongly believe this phone is better on stock firmware than custom. It just feels so much solid.
Did 4.1.2 made you return to stock?

I'm using cm10 nightly (updated 1 time per week, unless I found a problematic bug) and everything is good, so no point for going to stock (for me, of course).
Nope, still on rasbeanjelly, smooth as can be

Your issues aren't ROM issues. You have radio issues and that could likely be simply a firmware bug or an actual hardware fault. Update your radios and report back.

Yea I'm on Slim bean 4.1.2 with zero issues. Stock does give best user experience, but that should be expected, i like the customization this rom gives me, so I'm rocking it, very great performance as well..

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It used to be stock for me, but I found trebuchet smoother than stock launcher recently (Stock is good but I noticed quite irritating choppiness in app drawer that doesn't exist at all in trebuchet), so it's either cm10 or since yesterday Dark PA for me!
About MIUI, version from 1012 (theme - suave) was choppy as hell on my handset. Lag was especially evident on notification pulldown...it basically hurt my eyes. Hopefully it seems to be gone in last build (1019)
No I am using a CM10 based ROM. Very snappy.
No reason for me to go back to stock. Codename Android 3.8.0 works fine for me with Trinity A67 kernel. With stock I wouldn't have nearly as much customization options as with CNA.
Using miui 4.1.2 and loving it!
