Simple, I would like to know how many of you went back to stock ROM after 4.1.2 was released. I tried a couple of ROMs that had the update included and I was having so many data drops, SOD, Google server disconnections that I said "**** this" and flashed the latest factory image on my phone.
My previous phone was a Motorola Atrix. That phone never received ICS, much less JB update. It made sense to unlock it and flash a tasty JB ROM even if it had bugs. I strongly believe this phone is better on stock firmware than custom. It just feels so much solid.
Did 4.1.2 made you return to stock?

No. Using CM10 without any major issues.

I'm using cm10 nightly (updated 1 time per week, unless I found a problematic bug) and everything is good, so no point for going to stock (for me, of course).
Nope, still on rasbeanjelly, smooth as can be

Your issues aren't ROM issues. You have radio issues and that could likely be simply a firmware bug or an actual hardware fault. Update your radios and report back.

Yea I'm on Slim bean 4.1.2 with zero issues. Stock does give best user experience, but that should be expected, i like the customization this rom gives me, so I'm rocking it, very great performance as well..

It used to be stock for me, but I found trebuchet smoother than stock launcher recently (Stock is good but I noticed quite irritating choppiness in app drawer that doesn't exist at all in trebuchet), so it's either cm10 or since yesterday Dark PA for me!
About MIUI, version from 1012 (theme - suave) was choppy as hell on my handset. Lag was especially evident on notification pulldown...it basically hurt my eyes. Hopefully it seems to be gone in last build (1019)
No I am using a CM10 based ROM. Very snappy.
No reason for me to go back to stock. Codename Android 3.8.0 works fine for me with Trinity A67 kernel. With stock I wouldn't have nearly as much customization options as with CNA.
Using miui 4.1.2 and loving it!

K so when I fist got my gnex I could use it with my Bluetooth speakers from a far range I could be like two rooms away and could still here it fine and it would be smooth. That was stock. Now that I'm rooted and running aokp it is horrible. I can't be more than 4 or 5 feet from the speakers without it cutting in and out and being really unusable.... would this be the rom (aokp M5) or the kernel (latest Franco nightly)?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Could be either, especially if AOKP is using the wrong bcmdhd.cal for the device.

You answered your own question. Go back to stock if you need things to work properly. Custom roms are experimental at best, since they introduce all kinds of problems, including app incompatibility, hardware instability and broken features (like voicemail notifications not working).
Good luck.

Hi I was wondering how I could get jelly bean on my phone. I'm with Telus in Canada and they are not expected to get jelly bean for a long time or not at all. I keep seeing people on YouTube with it on their phones so I'm guessing they have a leaked version of it.
Is there a tutorial that someone could direct me too on how to do this? I don't want to wait for my stupid carrier just to tell me they aren't going to get it.

There is no TW JB at the moment. Any of the AOSP JB ROMS should work on the T989D. Be sure to nandroid first, just in case it doest work. Be wary though, AOSP JB ROMs have a random reboot bug. Many have reported going days without them. Up to you if you are willing to live with that.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Hmm I don't know if I want it randomly rebooting. I've dealt with that before and it's annoying. I can wait until something more stable is out.

JB is not yet stable, generally, on the T989.
Certain users are getting stability, but the JB ROM development threads are filling up with reports of random reboots (RR), and sleep of death (SOD). Numerous other camera, music, bluetooth and SD card issues are also common.
AOKP milestone 6 is the best combination of speed, smoothness, stability and battery life..... At least in my experience. And I've flashed a ton of ROMs.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
CM10 M2 is quite stable as well. Using it from last 4 days and no RR or SOD's for me.
Ya I guess it's a little early for it. I want to avoid problems. I'll just have to be patient until something stable comes out. I've always wanted a cyanogen rom so I could over clock. Maybe I'll find something else in the mean time.

Give the latest CM10 or AOKP build a shot for a few days. I'm running Dougshell's 10/13 AOKP build and I haven't had a single issue with stability.

Those random reboots have been fixed on the AOKP & CM ROM's, they've been fixed for a while now, i know this because I've been flashing basically all of them. The only issue for some is while recording video you may get a graphical glitch(lines popping up on your screen), but the latest AOKP jellybean have been fine for me.

I gave 2.99 a go but its still quite new so will wait a while before updating permanently and just 'check in' once in a while, so to speak, to see if its been made as stable as 2.54... Am very much lookin forward to being able to use 2.99 as my daily.

So I have flashed many roms on my nexus. The last being xylon. That and purity ak kernel did great for a long time. After awhile with every ROM though it began getting laggy and started having FCS . I decided that I was going to restore my backup. While I was debating what ROM to flash next I couldn't help but notice how stable and snappy my stock backup was. If you can do without customization the stock ROM really is nice. No disrespect to the developers.

I'm done with custom ROM as well. I've been running stock for over two months and I love how well the device performs overall. No less of data, no crashes, no headaches. I can second that. Flashing is very addictive, I update all major custom roms whenever new build is released but eventually I restore my stock backup. The only feature from custom roms I really miss is t9 dialer. I don't like third party dialers from market. I tried to fix it by myself, never successful though. I like the smoothness of our stock which is unfortunately little affected by deodexing in our beloved custom roms. That's the price of customization / theming.
Yeah, since JB the stock image was always smoother. Plus it's flash and forget, in the custom ROM's you're always wondering what's new.

I agree with having root for blocking adds. Adaway ftw!
I myself am getting sick of flashing roms...something always happens when ya either update the rom or custom kernel.. Love the snappy feel of stock everything is so smooth.
But i have to say stock + root + nova launcher with all animations off for faster the light speed = Beastly. Only reason i cant go back to stock is because my my volume down key doesnt work after breaking when replacing the usb port.
So i cant take screenshots and ive tried all different types of screenshot apps and they all suck. So im loving aokp's option of adding the screenshot button to my navbar it really beats the option having it in the power option because ya can take screenshots of ya toggles if need be etc.
Anyway yeah as soon as i get my hands on the n4 thats when ill be running stock + root + launcher i think.

If you purchased a GNex, and are an XDA member, I guess I can't see the reason why you'd keep the phone stock. Lag, the occasional FC, etc. will still occur even on stock; normal maintenance and a few tweaks minimize these regardless of custom or stock.
Admittedly, there's a good case to be made for slowing down the # of flashes during a day/week/month. Typically, there are two types of flashers: those who flash for aesthetics/customization, and those who flash for noticeable gains in performance, batt. life, features. Fortunately, there are developers on XDA who cater to both groups....some even pleasing both groups @ the same time. More often than not, however, there is a lull between Android releases, which produces more ROMS geared towards customization. This contributes to the "bored" factor, and ultimately, threads such as these.
With no disrespect to the OP, if you're content with stock, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and stock+root on the GNex is more than capable of providing a good Android experience. But, holding this phone, and subscribing to these forums leads one to the assumption that you're @ the very least CURIOUS about opening up the possibilities of this phone's capabilities.
