What ROM should my gf use? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Now I got a nexus 4 so I dont really know much about this phone. She complains that it lags a lot.. She's got a rogers s3 that I already rooted and cwm.. She wants something similar to stock, that's smoother then stock. With better battery. She doesn't need any of the fancy stuff like CM ROM
Any suggestions? I'd like to give her a stable ROM that won't have any issues

Personal preference I would wait for AOKP 4.2 to release soon.

Ya aokp is fantastic

Question- choppy/unstable Bluetooth?

K so when I fist got my gnex I could use it with my Bluetooth speakers from a far range I could be like two rooms away and could still here it fine and it would be smooth. That was stock. Now that I'm rooted and running aokp it is horrible. I can't be more than 4 or 5 feet from the speakers without it cutting in and out and being really unusable.... would this be the rom (aokp M5) or the kernel (latest Franco nightly)?

Could be either, especially if AOKP is using the wrong bcmdhd.cal for the device.

You answered your own question. Go back to stock if you need things to work properly. Custom roms are experimental at best, since they introduce all kinds of problems, including app incompatibility, hardware instability and broken features (like voicemail notifications not working).
Good luck.

Looking at it now.
Well, it is the right one. I know the Verizon version has been modified to fix choppy BT. It may or may not work for you. You are welcome to try it, but back up your current one.
Okay thanks I will try it when I get home

Did you go back to stock AFTER 4.1.2 update?

Simple, I would like to know how many of you went back to stock ROM after 4.1.2 was released. I tried a couple of ROMs that had the update included and I was having so many data drops, SOD, Google server disconnections that I said "**** this" and flashed the latest factory image on my phone.
My previous phone was a Motorola Atrix. That phone never received ICS, much less JB update. It made sense to unlock it and flash a tasty JB ROM even if it had bugs. I strongly believe this phone is better on stock firmware than custom. It just feels so much solid.
Did 4.1.2 made you return to stock?

No. Using CM10 without any major issues.

I'm using cm10 nightly (updated 1 time per week, unless I found a problematic bug) and everything is good, so no point for going to stock (for me, of course).
Nope, still on rasbeanjelly, smooth as can be

Your issues aren't ROM issues. You have radio issues and that could likely be simply a firmware bug or an actual hardware fault. Update your radios and report back.

Yea I'm on Slim bean 4.1.2 with zero issues. Stock does give best user experience, but that should be expected, i like the customization this rom gives me, so I'm rocking it, very great performance as well..

It used to be stock for me, but I found trebuchet smoother than stock launcher recently (Stock is good but I noticed quite irritating choppiness in app drawer that doesn't exist at all in trebuchet), so it's either cm10 or since yesterday Dark PA for me!
About MIUI, version from 1012 (theme - suave) was choppy as hell on my handset. Lag was especially evident on notification pulldown...it basically hurt my eyes. Hopefully it seems to be gone in last build (1019)
No I am using a CM10 based ROM. Very snappy.
No reason for me to go back to stock. Codename Android 3.8.0 works fine for me with Trinity A67 kernel. With stock I wouldn't have nearly as much customization options as with CNA.
Using miui 4.1.2 and loving it!

what ROM should i get if i want touchwiz?

i just rooted my phone and i'm ready to install a custom rom, what i basically want is a debloated with touchwiz rom, additional features/options would be better
The one you get after searching lol, but seriously just look in the Dec section not og dev, the other one and then just read. I suggest something of DjIntrigue

Seems like in general if you want good battery life go with a near-stock ICS rom, frosty is a good one but there are several to choose from. I'm currently trying serenity 1.2 LITE right now, it's pretty nice so far but I've only been using it a few hours.
After finally getting rooted yesterday (woohoo!), I flashed Stock sX v3.0. Awesome.

I would try anything from Wildchild. He mods stock ROMs both ICS and JB and they work great. I'm running the Xquizit xD v31(JB) and couldn't be happier. You can find it in the gs3 development forum.
Battery life is good and v 31 comes with all the tools you might need. You can also flash the Kitchen v 10 with it to customize your ROM.

Temporary do to someone stealing his work and it is a downer in general, besides we are on the verge of Official JB. So no point in spending so much time working on a rom that will be rebased and redone all over.

What's your favorite custom rom for the GSIII?

I haven't had a chance to try most of them but so far I like paranoid android 2.52. I was able to get the GS3 stock icons & sounds on it and touchwiz also but I'm using the trebuchet launcher since touchwiz doesn't auto-rotate. I haven't had any problems with it & it runs pretty smooth. What's your favorite rom?

I was actually thinking of giving that one a try soon. Do you know if the media hub works on it? I was able to get it working on my paranoid android rom and I was even able to download my free copy of the avengers but I can't watch it since it's locked for some reason so the media hub is pretty useless so far

I think I'll try frosty pretty soon. It seems to be a pretty good stable rom. Have any of you tried the serenity rom? It's a port based of the galaxy note II. I haven't flashed it yet but it seems pretty interesting

Have been rolling PA 2.54 for ages, love it. Everything working fine, havent noticed anything thats broken or missing. Big thanks to gokussjx
I gave 2.99 a go but its still quite new so will wait a while before updating permanently and just 'check in' once in a while, so to speak, to see if its been made as stable as 2.54... Am very much lookin forward to being able to use 2.99 as my daily.
Am curious as to the difference between the roms for the GT-I9300 and SGH-T999... Does the T999 have anything the I9300 doesnt?

Getting a Note 2 soon looking for advice

Hello all not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm going from a note 1 to a note 2 very soon and was wondering what the big differences between the new kernals and ROMs were. Experienced user input is very welcomed. I'm looking for something stable with great battery life as a start, after that, I can try new stuff as I want. Thanks again for any input I get.

None of them are stable. If you want stable stick with stock ROM which is very good. If you are OK with some minor unstable-ness then go with CM10.1 which is really nice on this phone.

So the JB ROMs still have the lost call function and the random reboots? Or is there just a base debloated JB type ROM that don't suffer from those problems?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah pretty much although cm10.1 has fixed a lot and those guys are very good developers. Most other ROMs are just mods of CM. There is still some issues with CM but minor I personally never had a lost call or reboot but sounds on calls sometimes is an issue and camera freezes and video recording has lags and stuttering.

This is not true. Clean ROM is just as stable, if not more stable than stock. It's essentially a stock ROM that had been debloated and had some performance tweaks. I switched over and haven't looked back.
