My note 2 has started to make notification tone 2-5 times per day but nothing happens. No sms, no email, no notifications..nothing.
Any ideas how to get rid of this sound?
I have checked all my apps and I have only maildroid email app.

Set a custom notification sound for each app (Email, SMS, FB, ...) to find out which app makes the notification.
use ilermin

I have tried. I also changed settings -> sound -> notification sound to different one and then that random sound also changed. but still I have no idea what is that notification.

Am new to Android and can't work out how to turn off sound notifications for emails yet retain them for SMS text messages?
I get a lot of emails that aren't urgent (an can read in my own time) but would like to still know immediately when a text comes in...
Cheers
Yeah go into e-mails and then press menu then go to more then settings it's in there. Notification settings, sounds OFF.
In the email applications you can set the ringtone for email notifications to silent? Presumably that allows you to keep SMS notification sounds.
The way i described allows to keep sms sounds.

Hello XDA!
Is there any way I can make my phone flash green LED and WakeUp as soon as any notification (Text, Mail, whatever really...) arrives?
Any additional software I should be aware of?
Thanks!
You can setup this thing in each Application. Mail, SMS, K9, Handcent and so on. But even in the Stock ones.
To remind you longer than the Stock 5 Minutes of flashing, use "MissedReminder".

Well I am using stock application, only GMail for mail, and I can't see any settings regarding my problem in the stock sms setting menu.
im using "LED me know" app , its quite usefull and easy to configure, dont think it can wake the phone though but it does affects LED and other notifications.
does anyone know how to adjust settings on the Galaxy S2 so that it will vibrate after a period of time for unread text msgs, emails, missed calls and voicemail?
I cannot seem to locate how to do this?
I have tried NoLed - eats my battery power. Went to try BLC - says it won't work on my phone due to a kernal issue (no idea what this is) so I need something to give me a heads-up I have missed msgs or calls, etc.
For sms you can use a third party app like handcent or go.

But does that just work for text msgs or for voicemails, emails and missed calls also?

If you like the stock messaging app like me and prefer to keep using it you can download "SMS Popup" for free from the android market and disable the settings you don't want but it has the reminder settings your looking for with audible and vibrate reminders periodically for unread calls, texts, etc. Not sure if it works for emails.

I've never had this problem before with my Note II, but every time I get an email through the Gmail app or the Nine app (work email), the phone vibrates.
For gmail, I have the 'Notifications' box checked and within the 'Inbox sound & vibrate' I have 'Label notifications' checked, Sound set to a non-default ringtone (in case the default ringtone was the thing forcing the vibrate), Vibrate unchecked and 'Notify for every message' unchecked as well.
In Nine, pretty much the same setup. Vibrate is unchecked and sound is changed to something non-default.
Any thoughts?
I still haven't been able to find a solution. Anyone have any thoughts/experiencing the same problem?

One last try to get an answer. Hoping with more people having the phone now, someone will know.
Hey everyone. I'm coming from phones that haven't had always on displays so I didn't really think it was necessary but now that I've turned it off I noticed that when I get notifications the LED doesn't work for anything except my work e-mail through the outlook app. No gmail, allo, hangouts etc. I've also turned off edge notification and tried toggling the LED notifications, rebooting and a bunch of other stuff. Am I missing something simple? It seems like I should be able to get an LED notification for everything even if they are the same color.
Edit: whoops i totally meant to post this in the questions forum.. if the mods could move it that would be great >_<
I've got the same issue, I can't find settings to adjust led
really would like to know this...always have the AOD off

You have to do it in the app settings by going to settings/app/ pick your app then go in notifications /notifications /importance and change it to urgent.
I've done this but it's still not working !

Sorry! Working here
Mine is working, but I noticed that there seems to be a timeout on the LED. So if I don't clear the notification or look at the message or email then LED will stop flashing ( approx 30 minutes). During that time I have opened the home screen and dragged down notifications view from the status bar, but as I said I have not cleared or viewed emails or messages
Well, i'm happy it's working for you but in my case it seems gmail app don't accept led notification at all.

Yes you are right , just tested and sent an email to my gmail account and the LED does not flash although I get a lockscreen notification . However I also use the samsung mail app to get gmail and when that synchronises with gmail, then the LED will flash.
I had a look at the settings in the gmail account , but can't see anything obvious

Yes, Samsung email app is working but take's so much time to synchronise, i hope Google will found a fix soon because Gmail app seems to have this problem with Oreo because not only Samsung phones have that issue!
I use an app called Light Flow, it allows you to set notification colours for various apps, e.g. Blue for Facebook, Green for Whatsapp. I absolutely love it, can see what notification you have just by the flashing colour
Just got S9 two days ago .
Can the Lightflow App enable the LED to flash notifications while screen is ON ...
BUT Always On Display is off. ?
I was also wondering the Lightflow App says it needs control over notifications and messages calendars etc. Is it reliable enough to not miss an appointment ?
