Original Post:
Hi, there!
I bought a Sony Xperia Ion HSDPA (LT28h) in early February and some weeks ago I somehow scratched the screen –TBH I don't now what exactly happened to f**k it up as I tend to be careful, but, whatever–. There is a little scratch about 1mm long and 0.1mm deep which is noticeable by finger at usage time, and a very tiny one next to it which's almost inappreciable.
I've been wondering about it and found things like banana-rubbing, toothpaste applying, a product called Displex –which really called my attention– and screen protectors (actually, Ion seems to have a pre-applied one).
So the dilemma is: Should I either ignore it or try some fixing method?
I'll really appreciate your opinion, experiences with these methods and so on.
Thanks in advance!

My scratch is over the whole screen. I ignored it for several weeks, now i´m buying a new screen protector to replace the pre-installed one.

Thanks for the reply. In case you get a nice result please let me know how did you do it exactly and maybe I'll take that way too.
Greetings.

That's the use of screen protector....to protect the screen...

Yeah the screen works perfectly, no color nor quality artifacts in the scratched zone. It's just annoying at touch and I wanted a working solution.
If I decided to replace screen protector, would I need to remove Sony pre-applied one first? And, how should I do it? I'm afraid it maybe has Sony logo baked-in just like Xperia Z =S
Greetings.

Would http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762976 work? And could I add it over the pre-applied one without removing it?
Thanks for your help!

Okay, that was actually a stupid question, didn't notice it was only for Xperia S lol

do you have a warranty, because if yes you could probably take it back to verizon (after unhacking it {if necessary}). if no, you will probably have to find a replacement screen (online would be your best bet) and pay someone to replace it (i would NOT try to replace it yourself because my friend went through about 4 psp 3k's trying to put in a replacement screen (after having the fluids leak out ) and breaking the connector because it was built at a really weird angle, almost as if it was intended only for a machine to replace it )
or another option (probably the cheapest) is to buy some of this stuff Displex screen scratch remover
I want tosee if the scratch remover actually a works, you can try that op and post back

Please tell me you all are not talking about that piece of plastic that came on the front of the screen LOL. Every cell phone I ever bought had that same piece of plastic. And to think mines fell off when I put the phone in my pocket the first day I had it...
I went to Rogers and they basically said that they doubt the screen could be repaired. They gave me some bullcrap story about if the repair is under 150 dollars they will do it [which i will have to pay for] but if it is over 150 dollars they will just send it back to me without it being repaired. So they basically told me that even if I was willing to pay whatever price to have it fixed or replaced, they still would not do it if it came up to over 150 dollars.

no it's not the thin little piece of plastic that is on all phones. i just did a google search and it's actually a crystal clear screen protector put on by a machine and if you look VERY closely at the edges of the top of your xplay you will notice a very small raised edge.
plus sony says that the screen is virtually scratch proof (meaning that the op most likely scratched the screen protector {and not the screen itself} and just needs to replace the screen protector)

Thanks for the info! I thought sony was making fun of people with that piece of think plastic film being called a protector
It's not a screen protector, it's a shatter resistant film. But yeah, just take it off and your scratch will likely disappear.

You reminded me of an Apple fan who thought the gorilla glass on his iPhone was invincible, so he grabbed a handgun and shot it. Guess what happened ;p

I remember a story ages ago, about an original xbox that got caught out in a shootout. And it still worked afterwards

[Q]Xperia arc replacement front glass?

Greetings, I was wondering if there's a replacement front glass for our xperia devices. It has a small scratch and it bothers me, and I'm not willing to pay for a full screen replacement
I searched eBay but I found nothing.

Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
I want only the front panel which is attached on the housing that has the Sony Ericsson logo. I don't think that it's a part of the screen replacement. Anyway, I'm going at a Sony Ericsson service and ask them..

Shutter proof as in ?
Don't replace the glass
Technically, it's possible to replace just the glass for any phone, but for the Xperia Arc, it's a huge pain, there's more adhesive holding the glass to the LCD compared to other phones, and when I tried to scrape off the glass, I tore LCD. I think it's fine to leave it cracked, there's some sort of screen protector on top to prevent you from cutting yourself (I'm not sure if I was supposed to take even that off, it was glued pretty securely, and a lot of glass came off with it).

How hard is it to remove Sony installed screen protector?

I put screen protectors on any phone I own. I ordered the ZL but I am afraid that I will wreck the display taking off Sony's installed screen protector. Has anyone had any problems removing this or damaged their display? Any tips for easy removal?

I saw a you tube video but it was by a cell phone reviewer who has more experience than the average person. I am looking for feed back from XDA users too
Hi.
I did it with a needle. Peel the first edge of was very hard, but if there is a little bubble, you can grab the plastic and pull. For me there is no damage at all.

[Q][Screen Protector] Does the XPERIA M come with a screen protector?

Does the XPERIA M come with a factory pre-installed screen protector???
I have an XPERIA M and examined it and unless the placement it extremely good it doesn't appear to have a pre-installed screen protector.
I have an XPERIA X10i and an XPERIA S and both came with factory pre-install screen protectors.
I'm being a bit slack, as I haven't read through the XPERIA M maintenance manual to check myself, if indeed it is mentioned.
Thanks in advance for any info.
I got one in my pack and had to fit it myself

From India - Didn't get one here.. Although I got one in buying my previous Xperia U phone.
Thanks guys.
I didn't get a screen protector in my package.
The XPERIA X10i and XPERIA S screen protectors are expertly positioned, but if you look hard enough you can see them.
Just couldn't see one on the XPERIA M and thus the question.
Guess I'll have to look to source one and install it.
I'll update the OP if there's a few more posts which at this time looks as though the device doesn't have a factory installed screen protector and only a few 'selected' areas include a screen protector in the package as a separate item to be user installed.
Mine did not have in pack. I use a larger screen protector and cut it edge
U do not need a screen protector since it is scratch proof. I am using it since a month and not a single scratch

[Q] Xperia S Shatterproof film removal

Has anyone noticed that xperia s has a shatter proof film like the one found in xperia z. my shatterproof film has got scratches with time so i am thinking of removing it.. Has anyone done this before with Xperia S? and does it has any other disadvantage on removal apart from the glass not remaining shatterproof?
Thanks

Yes, I removed my film a long time ago, the only problem I have ever encounter in doing so is the screen becomes TOO sensitive. leading to ghost touches and little hiccups due to the over sensitivity. Luckily, just putting on a brand new screen protector made the phone perfectly fine, eliminating all forms of over sensitivity. hope this helps! :good::good:
ANY type screen protector will do for the XS, even the cheap ones on eBay!

It can be, for example when I press the back button the stock browser, the phone thinks I'm holding down the back button and this open the Bookmarks tab, even though I just wanted to go back a page or exist.
