Greetings, I was wondering if there's a replacement front glass for our xperia devices. It has a small scratch and it bothers me, and I'm not willing to pay for a full screen replacement
I searched eBay but I found nothing.

You can only get these items from service center..if you want it you have to pay full amount i think it cause. Aprox 100 $...
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
I want only the front panel which is attached on the housing that has the Sony Ericsson logo. I don't think that it's a part of the screen replacement. Anyway, I'm going at a Sony Ericsson service and ask them..

Shutter proof as in ?
Don't replace the glass
Technically, it's possible to replace just the glass for any phone, but for the Xperia Arc, it's a huge pain, there's more adhesive holding the glass to the LCD compared to other phones, and when I tried to scrape off the glass, I tore LCD. I think it's fine to leave it cracked, there's some sort of screen protector on top to prevent you from cutting yourself (I'm not sure if I was supposed to take even that off, it was glued pretty securely, and a lot of glass came off with it).

do you have a warranty, because if yes you could probably take it back to verizon (after unhacking it {if necessary}). if no, you will probably have to find a replacement screen (online would be your best bet) and pay someone to replace it (i would NOT try to replace it yourself because my friend went through about 4 psp 3k's trying to put in a replacement screen (after having the fluids leak out ) and breaking the connector because it was built at a really weird angle, almost as if it was intended only for a machine to replace it )
or another option (probably the cheapest) is to buy some of this stuff Displex screen scratch remover
I want tosee if the scratch remover actually a works, you can try that op and post back

Please tell me you all are not talking about that piece of plastic that came on the front of the screen LOL. Every cell phone I ever bought had that same piece of plastic. And to think mines fell off when I put the phone in my pocket the first day I had it...
I went to Rogers and they basically said that they doubt the screen could be repaired. They gave me some bullcrap story about if the repair is under 150 dollars they will do it [which i will have to pay for] but if it is over 150 dollars they will just send it back to me without it being repaired. So they basically told me that even if I was willing to pay whatever price to have it fixed or replaced, they still would not do it if it came up to over 150 dollars.

no it's not the thin little piece of plastic that is on all phones. i just did a google search and it's actually a crystal clear screen protector put on by a machine and if you look VERY closely at the edges of the top of your xplay you will notice a very small raised edge.
plus sony says that the screen is virtually scratch proof (meaning that the op most likely scratched the screen protector {and not the screen itself} and just needs to replace the screen protector)

Thanks for the info! I thought sony was making fun of people with that piece of think plastic film being called a protector
It's not a screen protector, it's a shatter resistant film. But yeah, just take it off and your scratch will likely disappear.

Hi all
I have a cracked screen on my Galaxy Nexus and want to replace it.
I know the digitizer is stuck to the glass but I've watched a video on YouTube and with a bit of time and patience it should come apart.
Has anyone successfully replace the glass and only the glass on the Galaxy Nexus?
I've seen some replacement glass on eBay for around $20 which doesn't seem too bad. But I want to know when you remove the old glass which would remove the glue holding the old glass on, do I need any glue to stick the new glass on and where would I find this so called glue?
I bought a used broken galaxy nexus off ebay that also has this issue and I am probably gonna try and fix it eventually. I ordered replacement glass off ebay for 15 dollars and its coming with little tools for the job aswell.
Did it come with stuff to stick the glass back on :s
I will probably pick it up on Monday so I can check then.

I did the same thing. Found a nexus on ebay for 40 bucks with a cracked screen. Phone works perfect, I ordered replacement glass only and and I'm just way nervous to do it.

Any luck with this repair? It seems like there are people who say it can't be done and some who say it can. I've watched some videos on this topic as well but they never really show how to put the glass back on without getting air and dust trapped in between the digitizer and the glass.

I had the same issue with my Gnex, but after talking to private service guy,I replaced complete digitiser together with glass. The reason was simple.
As I get info from that guy, you will never be able to protect any dust to stay at digitiser area, so after some time phone will not recognise some touches, because of glue has to be used and it is not easy to cover complete area, that is why probably dust will come inside.
Anyway, those are informations I get from guy who is servicing/repairing all kinds of mobile phones, so this was his opinion and maybe there is better way,how to solve it.
I wish you good luck
It didn't come with glue .
I found this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WIQW3U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 which seems like the right thing to me.

ty mate.. i will seriously think about it :good:
Any word on replacing the glass? I've been watching some videos about the process that includes everything except the regluing.
I found one video on the regluing process, but it shows the replacement in an industrial factory setting with an industrial autoclave vacuum to remove any air bubbles present.
I have also seen people on the YouTubes use 3mm wide double sided tape around the entire perimeter of the phone to reduce dust, but I can see potential issues with this method, as the factory method seems to apply a solid layer of adhesive material.
I would like to hear success stories, but I'm inclined to pop this thing open and give out a shot.

Hey I just recently broke my screen and I bought my phone last july. Its not completely broken but its shattered most of the screen and its incredibly annoying. Is there anyway I could get a new phone or get a cheap screen replacement within 30-50$ range? Or should I just go ahead and get a new phone?

Check out this thread for replacing your screen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945494
I highly recommend against trying to replace just the glass. That is what I tried to do, but the LCD is glued to the digitizer which is glued to the glass. I didn't use enough heat and though I got through the edge tape holding the glass to the frame, I shattered the digitizer and LCD as well as busted through the menu buttons.
If you think you can do it, go for it. Not real tool intensive, but there will be lots of heat and the success rate is probably 50/50.
The next step from that is to replace the whole LCD/DIGITIZER/GLASS. But that will set you back around $200. Same process, but you pretty much scrape the glass, digitizer and LCD from the metal frame. Lots of effort, lots of time, and little pieces of glass flying everywhere.
For about the same price, get the FRAME/LCD/DIGITIZER/GLASS asssembly. It only requires removing a few screws, unhooking a couple of cables, and replacing the hole front end. It can be done with care in about 15 minutes.
If you do that, be sure you get the right model number. If you are on AT&T in the US, you'll need the i747. The i9300 may come up a few bucks less, but it's not compatible. Color doesn't matter - you can change now, if you want.
The biggest disadvantage of removing the glass only is the risk of getting dust inbetween the LCD and the glass front. With the other two methods, the LCD/DIGITIZER/GLASS are already fused together. However, if you pull it off, no one will ever know you messed with it, and the warranty cheat won't be tampered with as it will be with a frame replacement.
According to the other post, you are still 13 months from an upgrade. That means around $450 to replace your S3 and $630 if you want to go the S4. For less than half that, you can get the frame replaced. I might even suggest that once you replace the frame, you spend that $10 to replace the glass and try it without any fear of consequences on the one you remove. If you do it well, you might could sell that assembly for $150-$200.
Good luck!
i9300 screen (no frame) will fit i747 frame
can you advise if a i9300 screen (no frame) will fit i747 frame? Mine is 747, I can see lots of posts on Ebay for screens with both 9300 and 747 compatible. Want to make sure before order.

Lcd, digitizer, and glass are all identical except color. Once you see the word "frame", the model matters.
I just recently did this successfully. The key is a good source of heat and patience. I used a heat gun and it took me about thirty minutes to do. There are screens you can order that come with the little tools to use. Start heating it slowly and use the tools to take the glass off. Heat it until its relatively easy to get the glass off but do not over heat it! Keep going until all the glass is off. Once its off, apply some sticky tape (or you can use the tape that was already on the phone if you don't destroy it) and it will be good to go. Make sure that you take the protective paper off the glass you ordered.
Should you have any issues feel free to PM me.

Well search is down at the moment, so here goes: I have an Optimus G that finally met it's demise. My glass screen is completely shattered but the image underneath is still clear and no discoloration. Obviously it doesn't respond to touch anymore. Do I only need to purchase a digitizer to do the repair or should I get the digitizer+lcd replacement? I just need a simple clarification.
Digitizer and lcd. The lcd on a factory phone is 'glued' to the Digitizer I believe. I couldn't get the lcd off my original evo anyway

He might as well. Although I'm sure you can heat and remove the glass to attach a new glass if the LCD is still good, the price on the glass for the LGOG is a bit steep as its not just a piece of glass, its also the digitizer. A big difference from a Galaxy. I can easily get a glass for my Note at like 10-20 bucks and just glue it on and be all set. That is not the case for the Optimus G, the glass works as the digitizer which I'm assuming why it's a bit expensive.
Edit: I just looked into it some more and it definitely is a complicated task. In all the how to vids they replaced the whole thing, glass and LCD. I guess that's why it's hard to find just the glass. Most sellers sell the glass and LCD together already.
Edit # 2: I finally found just the glass for $38. It actually was 80 last night but I guess the seller dropped the price.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181219758562
^^^That's what you need. However if you do attempt it be aware that there's no how to videos on separating the glass from lcd. So after heating up the phone to remove it from the housing you're more than likely going to have to reheat the screen again to begin the glass/LCD separation. Oh and you might need some LOCA adhesive and a UV light to bond the new glass in.

you need both >> however i would go for an OEM one ....
i bought a cheap one from china, the ones without the LG logo on top, and it sucks. There is like a small strip that doesnt respond to the touch, its fine because i didnt notice until i started playing with "sketchbook mobile" but still. and it you look at it at an angle through the light its not smooth and perfectly straight like the original one, AND when you tap SLIGHTLY hard .. you see that liquidy effect ... not cool! .. not annoying either .. just a heads up if you do decide to fix it>

I found the screen protection glass to be very weak.a little pressure on the glass touches the display. Is that the case with every phone?
Yes same problem here
Sent from my C6502 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I find the touch a bit awkward too, but I guess its the pvc screen protector that Sony puts on it.. feels kinda "soft" when I touch the screen.
And I can see the LCD suffering the pressure, even with a not so strong pressure...
Wasn't that glass supposed to be Dragontail?
I really can't understand why Sony doesn't provide clear information about this. Here in Brazil Sony Support doesn't even know that ZL already comes with a screen protector [shatter protection actually]. And that thing is just so cheap its not even scratch resistant.. so you either have to use 2 films, or remove the original one, risking to void Warranty.
If anything, ive been very impressed with the durability of the screen on this phone. I have dropped it face down NUMEROUS times. At the very least 7 - 8 times. And its held up like a champ. I have a screen protector on top of Sony's pre-fab'd one, and it looks and feels just fine. Only issue is the viewing angles. But thats to be expected with a TFT lcd regardless of protectors.
Also mine doesn't feel awkward to touch. The way you describe it, it's as if you have an air gap between the glass and touch panel. I don't seem to have that at all. Its as if the image is pasted to the back of the glass, the way its supposed to. I do have a gap between the back panel and battery. And if I push against the back panel, I can feel it depress and make contact with the battery. But no physical display related issues... so far anyway.
